Madison is the cousin of Ramon Alonzo, son and second in command to a notorious drug lord Alex is trying to bust. Alex has befriended Ramon as part of his cover, and Madison has unknowingly become his informant. Falling for her could risk this case—and both their lives.

All Madison wants is to get her new bookstore business off the ground, and for her creepy cousin Ramon—to whom she’s unfortunately indebted—to leave her alone. If she could only stop fantasizing about his mysterious new friend, Alex…

The unfortunate thing about reading an "okay" book right after an amazing one (A Darkness Absolute) is that it really makes the difference stand out.

The plot was a little far fetched, Alex and his brothers didn't really seem like they were FBI agents when the majority of their time is spent running their biker bar. I didn't really feel any chemistry between Madison and Alex, would've liked a little more foundation with their romance. Also, the attraction/fascination Ramon had with Madison (his first cousin, ick!) was just weird. Her controlling family was an annoying plot point and part of the main conflict, so I just didn't want to continue.

Thank you to Montlake Romance for sending a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Great read..

I love Sandra Owens book because they’re more than just a silly romance. This one is about a drug kingpin, drug smuggling, disgusting cousins lusting after another cousin and the FBI agents looking to topple the drug trade of the Alonzo drug business and, of course, Alex’s growing love for the cousin of the pervert Ramon. It’s about the horrible childhood that Alex, Nate and Court lived through and of their mother walking out on them when they were just little boys.
It was a great story from beginning to end. Except I wasn’t crazy about the 39 times Alex called Madison “grasshopper.”

There was some crazy sexual tension in this book, and want, and desire, and explicit sex. Awesome!

There was swearing and the F-bomb was released 14 times.

The epilogue was fascinating, inasmuch as it was from the next book in the series. I’m looking forward to it!

As to the narration: Amy McFadden did a decent job on the men’s voices but, good grief, Sebastian York totally sucks at women’s voices. It’s like when Alex and Madison are talking romantically it’s like two men talking, totally horrible. Mr. York has a great reading voice but the women stink and he reads without emotion, no laughing, no whispering, no nothing, and Ms. McFadden reads with all kinds of emotion. And they don’t read the men and women’s voices separately, they read both voices, which I totally don’t understand. If two narrators are going to read all the men and women’s voices why bother having two to begin with. I couldn’t even listen to the sex parts that SY started because Madison sounded so manly. I was so glad AM took over the bedroom scene.

A young woman has lots going for her. She’s beautiful, kind and is opening a book store with her best friend. Unfortunately her beauty makes her a target for her cruel and creepy cousin. Also the money she borrowed from her uncle to open up her book shop is dirty. Enter the hot FBI guy.
Our FBI guy is undercover running a biker bar with his brothers. Good story, lots of action and lots of romance.

This is an awesome start to what should be a great new series from this author. It was a bit slow in the beginning but once all the characters are introduced and the storyline established it was great. Alex is an FBI agent working undercover with his brothers. They own and run a biker bar as their cover but are actually investigating Ramon Alonzo, a known drug trafficker. Madison is Ramon's cousin and is unwittingly caught in the middle of Alex and Ramon. She has information that could possibly help Alex so his attraction to her could be trouble. Big trouble. Keeping her safe could prove to be more difficult than building the case against Alonzo!

Definitely a recommended read.

3.5-4 Alex and Madison Stars

I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good start to a series that I will definitely be reading.

Alex is the youngest of the three Gentry brothers who are all FBI agents and run the Aces & Eights bar as a cover for their law enforcement backgrounds. He is working on a case that brings him into contact with our heroine, Madison. She has a hunch that her nasty uncle and creepy cousin are up to no good but she has no idea what the extent of their criminal activity is.

The characters are well written and I think at times I preferred the other two brothers to Alex. I understood why he felt he couldn't get involved with Madison at times but he irritated me a bit with his back and forth. I did like his loyalty though - he doesn't mess around with other women once he meets Madison.

Madison was likeable and she was a sweet heroine who showed her strong backbone when required. Lauren, her best friend is really feisty and I am itching to know if she and Court will get a book.

Overall, a really enjoyable read that sets up a series well.

HEA? Yes but more a HFN I would say.

wow, it run really fast. We knew that three brothers working as undercover agent of FBI, they growth up in the abuse family, without mother's caring, three brothers closed together.

Ace, King and Jack, they may be different but they share the common element, when the decision is made, they will be the most reliable guy in the world.

Alex, aka Jack, his story just an introduction for the family. I always wondering why Ace, King and Jack, how about the Queen? May be it refer to the biker bar they own, but… now I get it!! I can’t wait to read the rest of the books.

There's something special about finding a keeper book when you least expect it. I had never read anything by this author before, in fact I'd never heard of her. I think it was the price that made me pick this one and I went into it completely blind. But once I started it I couldn't stop and finished it in one sitting.

Alex Gentry along with his two brothers are FBI working undercover as owners of a biker bar. He first runs into Madison Parker, the first cousin of the drug dealer he's investigating. He's instantly smitten when he rescues Madison from her cousins unnatural clutches but because he's undercover he can't let her know who he really is. Madison is equally taken with him. She doesn't think he's a bad guy but then what is he doing hanging around with her nasty cousin?

I love everything about this book. Alex and Madison are great characters and I love them together. Their chemistry is great and they are both very likeable. Alex comes from a rough childhood but he's grown up to be a good guy. I've already picked up the next two books about Alex's two older brothers. There is just the right mix between having Alex and Madison being the lead characters wanting more on the secondary characters. The very end leaves you wanting more but not to worry, this isn't a cliffhanger.

It's the perfect blend of romance and suspense. I love the strong bond between brothers. And the fact I couldn't put this book down is a real tell. I had a lot of other stuff to do but the call of a Very Good Book trumps all.

If you're a fan of romantic suspense, this is an excellent book to read.

Jack of Hearts was a fantastic book. First of all, I love the cover, the title, and the name of the bar. I don't know if it was intentional, but the name Aces & Eights is awesome considering the 'dead man's hand' was named after a wild west law man who was also known to be a spy. Since the Gentry's are actually undercover FBI agents, the name really is a stroke of brilliance.

As is her forte, Ms. Owens has once again written a fabulous book about really well-written characters – both the good guys and the bad guys, and with incredible chemistry between the main two characters. I finished this book in two sittings because once I started reading it, I needed to know how it ended and I was so into it that I didn't allow myself to get distracted by anything around me.

Alex Gentry was swoon-worthy, and everything that I want in a male romance novel character. A lot of times in romance novels, FBI agents/cops act like absolute swaggering jerks under the guise of being what the genre pretends is an “alpha male”. Although Alex was extremely confident, a little hot-headed, and a smidge cocky, he was never even remotely close to being unlikable – not even when he was undercover and interacting with the dregs of humanity. He was just a flat out good guy who was trying to do the right thing, and trying to protect someone that he cared about. I really loved that about him. Granted, he was keeping secrets and not being 100% truthful, but he was doing so with the absolute best of intentions and with a tremendous amount of guilt, so forgiving him was a no-brainer for me (even before his adorable gestures of apology).

Madison was a nice combination of a strong woman who was also incredibly vulnerable because of her unfailing love for her mother. Although there were times that I wanted to shake her for being too complacent, I also understood her need to keep her mother from falling apart. One of my favorite parts of this whole book was (slight SPOILERS to the end of this paragraph only) when she went 'Grasshopper' on Ramon. I was so hoping that she'd get a chance to do that, so when it happened, I wanted to fist pump for her. Also, the scene in the kitchen while Alex made breakfast made me want to cry, it was so beautiful.

Along with the love story between Alex and Madison and the really interesting action story line, the secondary characters that we were supposed to like were fabulous. The ones we weren't supposed to like were so creepy and awful that I wasn't at all sad about their fates. Ramon and Trina, specifically. Every time those two were even mentioned, my skin crawled, which is a testament to Ms. Owen's talent for nailing characterization. And the 'good guys' were GREAT. I adored the Gentry boys who were both funny and entertaining in their own ways, and I am looking forward to learning more about them. I am especially anxious for Court and Lauren's book, but judging by the little glimpses of Nate we got, I think that Nate will be the wild card (pun intended) in the group. I can't wait for the rest of this series.

That epilogue, though. It was not at all what I was expecting and I NEED to know more. That's all I'm going to say about that.

If you like a book with crime and intrigue wrapped around a really sweet love story about two people who just flat out belong together, you should give this one a read – you won't be sorry.

Very good story! Excellent narration by Sebastian York and Amy McFadden. (audible review)

This was a great story. I really enjoyed every bit of it. I really liked Alex and Madison together. They made a great match and they had some great chemistry together. There was a little sex in the story which was perfect. It didn't take away from the from the actual story or the characters.

The story line and plot was great. I really liked the undercover FBI agent story. I enjoyed the three brothers very much and am looking forward to reading their books. Drug dealing, murder, undercover hot, badass FBI agents. What's not to enjoy.

As for the narration, it was fantastic. I love Sebastian York, he is fantastic! Amy McFadden did a great job too. I really enjoyed both of them very much!

I especially liked that this was NOT written in the first person.

Well I guess 3 1/2. I just had a hard time getting into this one. I don't know why. It took me a long time to really get into the characters. I like the plot interesting. The brothers seem cool and they sure have a great deal of love and bonding between them. They had such a crappy childhood. Nate is sure to be the hardest one to fall in love.

Jack was ok. He is the baby of the bunch. He seemed really caviler to me. I hate when the hero has to be a jerk to the heroine for her own good. I hate high handed men who think they know better instead of just being truthful. Madison was pretty tough.

Ok read. Received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.

This is the 1st book in Ms. Owens' new series Aces & Eights. The series is about 3 brothers who are FBI agents, but own a biker bar as a cover for their undercover work. This 1st book is about the youngest brother Alex.

Alex is trying to get close to a drug lord through is son Ramon and during that time he meets Ramon's cousin Madison ... who he immediately becomes enamored with. He tries to tell himself that it is all for the case, but in his heart he knows that's not true. Madison is just trying to live her life after her father is killed. She opens a bookstore with her friend Lauren, but has to take a loan from her drug lord uncle and at the time doesn't realize all the string that come along with that loan. She doesn't know what to think of Alex ... is a "good guy" or a "bad guy" ... but she does know that she finds him intriguing. There are lots of twists and turns and you are kept guessing right to the end ... actually it evens ends with a WTF! I can't wait for the brother's (Nate and Court) books. My only complaint is that sometimes I thought the wording was a little cheesy.

I received an ARC copy courtesy of Montlake Romance through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Alex is an undercover cop investigating the Alonzo family. Unfortunately, he is immediately attracted to the woman he is hoping to turn into an informant - Madison. Since he cares about her, he is reluctant to begin a relationship with her that would be based on the lie of his cover identity. He puts up a good fight. Madison is suspicious of her uncle and cousin's illegal activities, but she is innocent. If she hadn't accepted a loan from her uncle to open her bookstore, she would have nothing to do with them. They have leverage on her which her cousin uses to control her. It's not a good situation and she comes to rely on Alex's presence to make her feel safe. What will she feel when his real identity is revealed?

Yeah, so typical undercover cop plot, but it was well done. The characters are well developed and while the plot was predictable, it was still enjoyable and entertaining. I'd continue the series. I'm assuming that future books will involve Alex's brothers and I'm interested to know their stories.

The only reason I’m not giving this book 5 stars is because it took several chapters to really get into the story and the characters. I even thought about setting it aside but I’m glad I didn’t because it turned out to be really good. By the end I was very caught up with the Gentry brothers and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Good start

to the series. Having a sexy undercover FBI agent to fall for you but can't tell you the truth. Hottie cop and a fiery red head is a match you can't sent but then there's the issue with bad family members. A good start to the series. Now to see which brother is next in the series. I'm thinking the hot tempered one. Can't wait.

Meet Alex Gentry: undercover FBI with the right mix of badass and righteousness. He's been working undercover with his brothers to take down a kingpin; everything has been carefully planned out and calculated. Except for Madison Parker, niece to the elusive kingpin and somehow wrapped up in his dark world. Alex never planned to have her in his radar...but now he can't seem to get her out of harm's way.

I loved the blend of bad boy biker and FBI agent with Alex and his brothers. Owen's clever nicknaming of the brothers as card faces was refreshing; hence our books title as Alex is "HeartMan". For book one on the series there is a good layout of characters and whats going on but I was a but lost in the beginning. I feel like there's already backstory to Madison and Alex that isn't told clearly enough for us at first. But it was quickly forgotten once you get down to the meat of the story.

Madison and Alex have an undeniable attraction to one another and light up the page. and not just with their passion but with the action that we see. Its almost like a biker/mob version of Romeo and Juliet except adults and no suicides. The underlying plot of Alex and his brothers' mission he'd a great level of action for me, not enough suspense but it wasn't by any means boring.

This was a first time read for me for Sandra Owens and I DEFINITELY can't wait for book number two: King of Clubs!

Jack of Hearts (Aces and Eights) is Ms. Owens first book in her brand new series, Aces and Eights. About 3 FBI brother's, who co-own a biker bar as a front to get information from deadly criminals. I was honored to be given an ARC copy for an honest review. Jack of Hearts is youngest Gentry brother, Alex's story

Working as an undercover FBI Agent in the biker bar he and his two older brother's co-own, Alex, 'Heart Man' hangs with deadly criminals to gather information. Surrounded by bad biker Dudes and criminals, Alex doesn't scare easily. But one thing has him terrified: His attraction to Madison Parker. Madison is the cousin of Ramon Alonzo, son and second in command to a notorious drug lord Alex is trying to bust. Alex has befriended Ramon as part of his cover, and Madison as unknowingly become his informant. Falling for 'Grasshopper' could risk his case and both of their lives.

All Madison wants is to get her bookstore Black Cat and High Tea off the ground. Oh and her creepy cousin, Ramon, to whom she's unfortunately indebted to leave her alone. If only she could stop fantasizing about his sexy, mysterious new friend Alex.

Ms. Owens is at the top of my favorite author list. I didn't think I could love any of her books as much as I loved the K-2 series. Or any of her hero's as much as the K-2 guys! WRONG! Oh, they'll most certainly always have a special place in my heart. But Ms. Owen's drew me in with the prologue. And the minute I met Alex (and Court and Nate) I was intrigued and in love. I say intrigued for their backstory. I liked the chemistry between Alex and Madison. thought it was adorable the way he called her his grasshopper. I loved that he rode a motorcycle. And the fireworks between middle brother, Court and Madison's bff, Lauren, who's book is next? YOWZA!!! I liked each one of the Gentry men, and know I will love ALL of their stories. I wanted Maddie's cat, Hemingway. And wanted to book shop and get a latte at Black Cat and High Tea. Love that name. Maddie's cousin Ramon was creepy. So was the Trina Chick! And Uncle Jose! Ugh!!! I was happy Madison's mom, Angelina, finally stood up for herself. I didn't like how weak she was, and that she let her brother dictate her life. I know it's a generational/cultural thing.
My ONLY complaint is my own impatience. Lol! Ms. Owen's leaves us with a cliffhanger, And Ms. Owen's is one of those, can't put it down. Sad when it ends authors.

Jack of Hearts (Aces & Eights Book 1) by Sandra Owens
4.5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Sexism, icky family relationships, mob behavior, deception, murder, physical abuse, suicide by cop.
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Ramon is just icky. I didn't like him in the beginning and liked him even less as the story continued. Ramon believes that he will be taking over the family business when his father hands it over - however, he has this icky - skin crawling fascination with his cousin, Madison.

Alex is trying so very hard to follow the rules. He's working his butt off to get Ramon and Uncle Jose to make a mistake - so that he and his brothers can stop the money laundering business that Ramon and Jose believe they are running, successfully. What Alex doesn't count on is falling for Madison.

Madison is just trying to live her life. She is entirely too naive for this story and it sometimes drives me a little crazy. Despite the fact that she knows her uncle is a bad man, her cousin is a bad man, she has this strange perception of her mother as being this simpering weakling and treats her as such. I found her a difficult character to really analyze too much - I just didn't quite like her.

Alex and Madison's relationship started on a lie - so for me, despite the fact that I liked other aspects of this story, this part - the romance was just off kilter the whole time. I found the resolution somewhat predictable and hope for more twists in the next books.

Lauren, Madison's roommate was more easily relatable for me. I liked her spunk, witty banter and take no prisoners attitude. I hope she gets her own story.

Then you have the brothers - Alex's brothers love him fiercely and protect him at all costs. I love how his relationship with his brothers is portrayed. They are all close, all within the bounds of the law and all want to do more to better society. However, they are all living with this scar; their mother left them and never returned, leaving them with a horrible, abusive father. I do wish we would have learned more about this, but the next book hints that is exactly what it is about.

I hope all of the brothers get their own story and can't wait to read more.

FBI agent Alex Gentry is working undercover to bring down the notorious Alonzo family. Using a biker bar that he and his 2 brothers own as cover, Alex befriends Ramon Alonzo, son of the drug lord Alex is looking to take down. What Alex doesn’t count on is meeting Ramon’s beautiful cousin Madison Parker. Madison can’t stand her creepy cousin but she maintains family ties to keep her mother happy. When bad boy Alex keeps Ramon’s unwanted hands away from her on more than one occasion, Madison finds herself slowly falling for Alex. What will Madison do when she finds out who Alex really is? Will Alex be able to get the evidence he needs to bring down the Alonzo’s?
This book should come with a warning label. Caution: Your new book boyfriend is inside. My. My. My. Owens has created a drool worthy character with Alex Gentry. Alex is honorable, loves his family, is perfect gentleman to Madison, and drives her crazy in the bedroom. The gifts that Alex sends to Madison will have you sighing in delight at his romantic side.
Madison is a strong character and every bit Alex’s match. Having just opened her own business, she stands her ground on more than one occasion when Ramon wants to use her bookstore for nefarious purposes. Her only weakness is her mother, which is why Madison doesn’t just blow off her sexually harassing cousin.
The suspense portion of this book is really good. Obviously the reader knows who Alex is and we get to see him slowly gather evidence against Madison’s family. An additional plot line has him trying to figure out who killed Madison’s father, who was an award winning investigative journalist.
Jack of Hearts is the first book in the Aces and Eights series. Owens has created a fabulous world with the sexy Gentry brothers that has me looking forward to the next books in the series. If you love romantic suspense, this is a great book for you.

Jack of Hearts is the first book in the Aces & Eights Series and it breaks my heart to give this book 3 stars because K2 by Sandra Owens is one of my favorite series but I had a hard time with this book. I really liked the concept of three brothers who are FBI agents and own a biker bar together. I just couldn't relate to the heroine at all. She seemed REALLY young to me. It drove me crazy that she wouldn't say anything to her mother about her cousin sexually harassing her and her uncle trying to force her to launder money through her business because she thought her mom was too fragile. Then when we finally meet her mom she doesn't come across fragile at all so that plot point just didn't work for me. I really liked Alex right up until he was a complete jerk to Madison . Still the brother's relationship was wonderful and I loved how they interacted with each other. So I'll definitely read the next book in the series and hope this one was just a case of the heroine not working for me.

A copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion. You can find more of my reviews on Book Charmers

This was my first from this author and I REALLY enjoyed it! Likeable characters and the prologue pulled me in to the story. It was sweet and suspenseful and had a jaw dropping epilogue. I can't wait for more!

The Gentry brothers are so dreamy. The bond they share is so special and in their line of work it makes it that much stronger, to know they have each other's back at all costs.

Alex is the baby of the three, but is definitely the more mouthwatering from how he's described. He's kind and tough and the type of protector that Madison needs, but since she doesn't really know Alex, she's not so sure she can trust him. But even through their uncertainty, they find a way to be together and find the kind of love they could have only dreamt about.

It was a wonderful story and a great intro to this author's work. I loved her writing style and how she provide me with more storyline than sex scenes while still giving me the romance my heart ached for.

I am most definitely a new fan!
FAVORITE QUOTES:
“You’re playing with fire, Madison.”
“That explains why I’m so hot,” she said.

“I think you excite me and scare me at the same time. You aren’t like any man I’ve been with before, and I’m not sure what to do with you.”

“I want to know Madison Parker. There’s a saying in the biker world. It isn’t the destination, but the journey. Take a journey with me, Mad.”

“When we do make love, Madison, we’ll be lucky if we don’t set the bed on fire.”

This one took a little bit to really get going, but once it did - I enjoyed it. It's a nice mix of romance, suspense, and action. It's heavier on the romance/relationship aspect - but still enough FBI undercover investigation to keep things moving.

I like Alex & Madison. We get to really know them individually and as a couple. (though, this may have been what contributed to what felt like a slow start.) Madison's roommate, Lauren, and Alex's brothers, Court & Nate, as well as other FBI agents are introduced. Enough to contribute to the plot as well as be intrigued about their role in future books. While this book had it's own story arc and romance plot focused on Alex & Mad, this is also kicking off a series arc (big reveal in the epilogue!) that I'm looking forward to.

This is 3rd person, but there's a lot of 1st person dialogue. The perspective changes between Alex & Madison - unfortunately, it's not always clearly defined and it tripped me up a few times. This was compounded by the fact that a few times the wrong narrator was speaking during the opposite POV. (ie. York speaking when it was obviously Madison's perspective/thoughts.)

I didn’t find these issues in subsequent books and overall its a good series.

Dual narration. I'm a huge fan of both Amy McFadden & Sebastian York. McFadden did a great job here with all the various voices, perspectives, and emotions. I struggled a little with York's narration in this one. There wasn't a lot of differentiating between male speaking voices. Alex & Nate sounded exactly alike, as did Rand (though he didn't speak much). There was also an action scene where he didn't sound any more excited than he did in regular conversation.

***4 “Men Are Stupid” Stars***

This is one of those books where the cover drew me in enough to read the description, which definitely go me thinking, but also made me need to know how the series name, Ace & Eights was connected to the story and whadda you know? The series title makes total sense and I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, flirty, sexy and filled with well written characters that I want to know more about.

Alex had a difficult childhood and though he does carry some pretty deep scars he came out of it on the right side of the line and is now working to put the bad guys away. Alex is all kinds of smexy alpha male. Despite the work he has to do, his code of honor and moral compass are still on point and though he will get the job done, he won’t compromise his own ethics.

Madison’s dream of opening up her own bookstore with her best friend is finally becoming a reality and though she’s having some issues with her family, she isn’t letting it dampen her spirits. Madison has a lot of moxie. She’s sassy and has no problem standing up for herself, she’s also protective and has a good dose of self preservation. She may waffle over how she feels about certain things, but trusts her gut and will reach out and grab hold of what she wants.

How do you form a relationship with someone when you can’t be entirely honest about who you are? And how can you fully trust someone when your gut is telling you that the person isn’t being entirely forthcoming? That’s the Sword of Damocles that hangs over Alex and Madison’s budding relationship. Alex knows he shouldn’t even be speaking to Madison, but he can’t help himself. Madison knows Alex is hiding something big from her, especially since he’s being all buddy, buddy with her cousin, but she feels safe with him. I really liked how their relationship evolved. The pacing of it was realistic and while there was a ton of physical attraction and sexual tension going on, there was no insta-love. They spent time together and got to know each other, at least as much as they could and I loved spending time with the two of them as they flirted and bantered and found they couldn’t stay away from each other. My one hang up though is that after the big blow out I just felt there was something missing in their reconciliation. The groveling was well done, but I needed more out of it. I’m happy they are together, but that one thing that would have made it perfect was missing.

The writing was engaging and the pacing of the story was good. I liked the dual 3rd person POV’s though there were a few spots where the switch between whose POV we were getting happened without warning and had me going back to re-read to make sure I didn’t miss something. The prologue confused me a bit, it was done well, but it took me a bit to realize how it was connected to the main storyline and then I had that lightbulb moment and like how that was resolved as well as the whole taking down of the drug cartel storyline. But what I loved the most was how well the secondary characters were written. The baddie were icky bad, like the kind you where you want to take a boiling hot shower and scrub them away with steel wool icky. And the good guys, namely Alex’s brothers, were awesome and I can’t wait for their books! And that epilogue? I can’t wait to see how that all plays out either!

This story has equal amounts of danger, threat, and suspense with passion, affection, and love. It pulled me into the dark and treacherous world of biker bars, drug deals, and undercover assignments where fights, deals, and rivalry seemed to be everyday occurrences.
I fell in love with the Gentry brothers and the palpable love they had for each other. The situation they had grown up in wasn't ideal in anyone's eyes, yet they made it and made something of themselves, something to be proud of. The brothers are tight, they always have each other's back, and they are not afraid to show that they care.
Alex Gentry is the youngest of the brothers and in deep trouble because of his developing feelings for Madison Parker. The way he was open about his feelings towards her from the start and told about his intentions was endearing. There were so many times these two made me smile, and the rides on the bike just left me envious. When Alex and Madison were together there was fire and heat, the passion blazing. But Madison had her doubts, and I understood her point, her issues with trust and the complications that the secrets were causing them.
Ramon Alonzo as the creepy cousin and vile culprit gave me the chills. The action was tour-curling fierce and had me holding my breath, inhaling the story, as is seamlessly flow from the pages. The images in the story are strong and vivid. I swear I could sense the heat in the air, hear the ocean roar, and feel the sand in my toes of the Miami beaches.
Even though biker bars and MC clubs are not my favorite storyline, I was into the scenes the author created, the elements from fear to adoration were distinct and evident. The attractive Gentry brothers with their charm won me over immediately, the secondary characters adding to the allure and the possibilities of the coming events that were hinted at left me eagerly wanting more. Definitely keeping an eye on this series, you guys need to check this one out!

I’ve been a fan of Sandra Owen’s ever since I read her amazing novel The Letter, which is a beautifully written historical. When she began writing contemporary, I must admit I was skeptical, but she quickly proved she could handle the transition with her K2 Team series. When I received an invitation from the publisher via Net-Galley, I eagerly accepted. Ms. Owens new series is fantastic!

Madison Parker wants a simple life, one where she can manage her new bookstore with no drama. Unfortunately, she has to borrow funds from her weasel cousin, Ramon. While she cannot be sure, she believes he is involved in criminal activity. When she meets a friend of his, she worries that an attraction to him will involve her in something she wants no part of.

Alex Gentry is working undercover, posing as a friend to Ramon Alonzo, a man who is heavily involved with a drug cartel he is trying to destroy. When he meets Madison, he wants to believe she is not aware of her cousin’s nefarious deeds, but can he trust his instincts?

Jack of Hearts is another great romance by Sandra Owens and is a fantastic start for her new series. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Aces & Eights series. I was immediately pulled into the story from the first scene and stayed that way to the end. The pacing is excellent and remains so throughout the book.

Madison’s character is delightful. She has a great sense of humor, she’s a loyal friend and loves her mother. She also has a cat, which will always make her character a winner in my book! I loved her from the start and wanted her to find her happy ending.

Alex is a great hero. He’s a warrior and a protector. He’s dedicated to bringing down the bad guy, and he loves his brothers. All of them sound yummy! He is so careful and gentle with Madison. It shows a totally different side of his character from the fierce, take charge guy he is when dealing with Ramon and the investigation.

The chemistry between Alex and Madison is strong from the very beginning and grows to a hot blaze by the end of the book. Ms. Owens uses her skill from her Regency romances and keeps the sexual tension building as the story progresses. That is something that is normally less apparent in contemporary romance than historical.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jack of Hearts and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a romance with plenty of action, great characters, primary and secondary, and a lovely love story. Happy reading!

A great beginning for Ms Owens’s new series titled , Aces and Eights. You will be drawn to the storyline from the moment you start reading this book.
The premise of this series is a biker bar owned by a set of brothers. In this one we have Alex Gentry, an FBI undercover agent.
HIs Achilles heel is Madison, whom he befriends during this mission . She happens to be related to a man who is a drug lord and who Alex is trying to bring down.
His attraction to Madison puts them both in danger. Both are keeping secrets and neither knows who the other one really is and represents.
Not only are thee two characters strong, and likable, but so are the secondary characters. So if you are looking for a book filled with romance, suspense and hunky guys who happen to be brothers, this one is for you. Once again, Ms Owens displaces her talent.
I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book, provided through NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

This is the best book I’ve read by Ms. Owens so far. I’ve read all her K2 books, and I like them ok. This one? Gotta admit that this book surpassed my expectation.

Alex Gentry was swoon worthy, a hero with an edge. Madison is a quite girl with backbone of steel. I love their interaction and I love how the story revolve around them. The story started off too slow for my taste, but it got fast soon enough, then I just couldn’t put it down. And the last part of the book? Oh, well, what a surprise. I can’t wait for the story to evolve from there. I’ll waiting, impatiently, for the next book.
