I have heard of good things about this series and I do love the characters and the premise of the story, but we haven't had any real conclusion to ANYTHING. Even Harry Potter had an individual story for each book with the main story concluding at the end of the series. There are lots of details, with no follow through on them. The slow pace of this series is starting to be offputting. And out of 8 books, we have barely gotten past Halloween or roughly three months. I know this is a slow burn, but this is more like snail burn since the kids are underage and rules to books ect ect... but at this rate, they won't even be done with the school year by the 12th or 13th book.
There are spelling errors in all the books, and they are mildly to moderately irritating, not enough to put the book down, but enough for me to shake my head and wonder who, if anyone proofread the books.
I'm obsessed with these boys. I finished this omnibus weeks ago and my mind wanders off to visit their world all the time. It's nutty. I honestly expected to like the series, not love it but I do love it. I have a long-lasting book hangover. I really cannot wait for the next book to release. I'm actually thinking about re-reading some of the series again. Gah!!! It's such a slow burn; so intense. How can I like this many boys?? How?? -- And that it is the true dilemma and it's awesome!!!
If you're on my friend's list and see this and are judging me for reading this then please see my review for the first omnibus for explanation haha. I still continue to have the same issues with this series. Sang continues to have inappropriate attachments to 9 guys, and they are seeming to not care about sharing her. She continues to show signs of PTSD from her childhood abuse (rightfully so, to be honest). But everyone normalizes it and caters to it instead of encouraging her to get help for it. But that's me, an adult, reading this. Had I been a teenager I would have been absolutely OBSESSED with this series. That being said, I would not want my teenager reading this series. This would be a series I would have hidden with my Gossip Girl books. The guys have developed into their own characters, so I appreciate that. And we're learning more about the Academy. Not learning enough, but we're slowly learning. This series continues to be addicting and I can't help it.
I like this series, but I also have issues with it - though most of those issues probably stem from the fact I am an adult and am looking at this series through that lens, but the lens I would have used as a 16 year old. If I had found this collection back then, I would have been in love. It has everything a teenager wants; angst, action, romance, growing up, taking on the system - it’s perfect.... for a teenager. For an adult, I can appreciate the story, and then i remember the address and cringe. *sigh * I like it, I do. Ages aside. Sang, however, really needs to grow up and find some strength. I can see hints, but they are few and far between. She’s coddled and babied... and it is doing her little good. Love the guys, but seriously, she’s not a doll.
I am really loving this series. Enjoying learning more about Sang and the boys. Also the mysteries that is happening and waiting to figure out. Ugh, and Mrs. Sorenson how I do not like that woman. Hoping the boys keep figuring out being jealous. I'm really loving the dynamic of them all because they each have a different personality and compliment her. Hope Nathan continues to figure out because to me he gets most with Sang practically living with him so he needs to learn to share. He is definitely better in latter books. Oh and need more with Mr. Blackbourne. Love it.
The writing is improving with each book, but still has plenty of room to grow. The pacing is S-L-O-W. There was obviously no copyeditor (or any sort of editor?) involved in this. It reads like a 12 year old's wattpad account (first draft). That said, I read 8 books in the series, so there's something there. I don't know the background of the author and this series, so maybe it was started by a young writer who grew up over the course of writing the whole thing. I hope the author continued to improve, but not sure I'll get around to reading any more of this. Have to give her kudos for authoring a story that has captivated so many people.
Ugggg I'm so frustrated why is this dragging I mean there is so little romance that entices me that I feel like throwing my kindle. This author has kept me interested because of the plot. First it was the characters but then they started to annoy me. I mean seriously then I forget how young they are and I have to feel back my frustration. Where are the adults? Why do they not have more help? This is just dragging especially with the school situation.
Like the last box set review of this series, it would make more sense for this box set to be a single book. With that in mind, my rating would be raised to 4 stars. This series took a completely different turn than I was expecting, and I am enjoying it. It definitely is best to read this series blind with no expectations. I thoroughly enjoy the ending chapters of the books where the perspectives are of one of the boys; It just adds something extra.
I assume myself a sophisticated reader of adult reverse harem material. I tend to enjoy sexy scenes with intense action. This series has me completely engrossed and there has been no sex! It brings back the deep yearnings of being a young person in love. When wearing the wrong colours felt world ending and the right look from the right person made your entire world burn bright.
This book bundle was amazing. I'm understanding Sangs relationship with the boys more. I really want to see her in the Academy now. This is a awesome series. I may make it all the way to the end. Which is saying something because normally a author does something to turn me off.
Maybe my expectations are overly high (okay, definitely) but Sang never broke out of her timid shell. It was okay for the first book or two but there was just no sign that she was ever going to take care of herself and I just don't have the patience for that. Also, the polyamory just got ridiculous. NINE different guys?! I don't think so.
A good continuation of the story. More things happen with the boys as Sang gets closer to them but sometimes the plot felt a bit weak and drawn out to me. It's starting to feel like the author is really dragging this out but I still can't stop reading them. I feel invested in the characters now and I'd like to see how this all pans out for them. I will continue on with the rest of the series.
This a great series and the characters are fun and interesting. It would be great to read the last 4 but I can’t afford to pay that much on my fixed income. I will always wonder how it all ends.
I found this series last April or May, and bought all the books. Now I am reading them again. I like these that have more than one story to the book. If you have not met Sang and the boys, go to the first set of 4 books and start. You will not want to miss any of them. If you just want to take a small look, check out the separate books about how the guys meet Sang. I would start with Kota's book, since he met her first.
