As much as Phoebe hated whenever people said that she was just like her father, that's the most absolute truth.
After reading Declan Reede: The Untold Story series, we get to know everything about Declan since he was a kid. And, after reading the whole series, in this book, we see how similar Phoebe is to her dad. They act the same way, think the same way and even curse like sailors.
After finishing Declan's series, I found out that there was a series about Phoebe too and was ecstatic to know! I rushed to get the whole series, and now that I started, I can't put it down.

I read this one rather quick because I couldn't stop. I fell in love with their romance. Phoebe and Beau were like a fairy tale. I laughed with them and had a smile on my face the whole time they were getting to know each other. He was so cute with that accent, I kept picturing his voice in my head. lol
It was rather funny to know who Beau really was.

“This. It ain’t music. It’s just noise. You can’t even understand what he’s sayin’.”
“It’s my pump-up playlist.”
“Pumping up for what though? Murder? Satanic rituals?”

They were so fresh and their sentiments were so raw that made me fell under the story's spell.
I am so sure that Max had something to do with everything that happened at the end. I bet he messed everything up and he was to one to leak everything. That douche! I hope everyone finds out.

Can't wait to continue the series!! With each passing day, I see how awesome of an author Michelle is. Man... she sure knows how to write book series and keep us entangled until the end.
Also, I can't forget to mention that she is definitely the queen of cliffhangers.

HOLY BLEEPING BLEEP!!! Okay, so this was the first book I've ever read by Michelle, so I had no idea what to expect... Like, at all. I knew I was beta reading a spinoff book to a series a social media buddy wrote. That's it. The end of my knowledge going in.

First off, Michelle can WRITE a freaking STORY, y'all. Like for realzies. Like, I've been pals with this woman, and I'd known she'd published books, but HOLY JUNK Y'ALL. So heads up, because more people need to become aware of that. And then, this story. YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Right up until the end. Because spoiler alert: this is book one of a series, and it is NOT intended to be a stand alone - unless you're a rather unique type of masochist who prefers their torture in the form of unresolved endings to books. If you're into that, (no judgement) then this book is totally for you. It's super not my jam. So not my jam that I found myself penning Michelle a strongly worded message at 4 am (kindly stop judging my reading habits) to hurry up and finish this series, because the suspense is figuratively killing me.

So, super check this out. But also, I strongly recommend joining me in The Coalition to Pester Michelle Until She Finishes This Series. You can find her contact information at the end of any of her books. ;)

Gah, I just loved this book, maybe even more than some of Declan's! I was hesitant to read Phase at first because I LOVED the Declan Reede series and sometimes I'm a little iffy of spin-off books, but I was drawn into the story almost straight away and fell in love with the characters. The ending left me heartbroken *sniff* so I hope the next book will be out soon!!

This was the first book I have read by this author, and it certainly won't be the last. I'll be moving on to see what happens between phoebe and Beau. This story was capturing. It left you enjoying the ride with the characters, but then like all story it had to end and this one didn't end on a happy note.

I liked the characters, although Beau's way of speaking grated on me but I got used to it and moved passed it. I do hope there is happy ever afters eventually.

When life gets us down sometimes a break is called for. For a soon to be eighteen-year-old, most wouldn’t think it was call for. Phoebe Reede however it most certainly was. You see for this young Australian girl she’s lived the life of two young women already.
When she was born, her parents weren’t together. Being so young her father, 17, couldn’t handle the pressures of being so in love with her mom that he bailed. Not ever knowing her mom was pregnant let alone with twins. Unfortunately, Emmanuel, passed but was able to give the gift of lift to Phoebe in the form of his kidney. When she was four her father appeared back in her life, got off the bottle of alcohol and made a comeback in the racing world. Taking 3rd place just what he needed to his courage.
What he needed along with finding and continuing his family growing. He started his own racing team. Life was good with four more children later and Phoebe making it up the charts in the racing standings. When their youngest Nikki falls ill. Her heart putting more pressure on Phoebe. School her last year, her racing career, her apprenticeship, taking care of the household, and the kids so her parents could spend the extra time at the hospital was weighing on her. Actually, becoming too much for her. Not to mention every time she did go out her dad wouldn’t stop texting and calling her. She had no peace.
She finally had it. She hacked her dad’s computer had his secretary book a flight over to a state nearby and wouldn’t answer his text or calls until she was boarding her flight. When she landed, her aunt (family friend) picked her up telling her she would have to call her dad and tell him where she was at. Then she told her that her son was crushing on her. Great just what she needed more gocking by some horny teen. She had to do this trip though she was desperate. Her dad showed up the next morning. They talked and talked.
She told him about wanting to go to the U.S. to getaway. That she needed to find herself. To know who she was away for the cameras and really him. He looked sad but she told him that she loved him but everything revolved around his fame. She needed to see who Phoebe was. He thought he was being smart and said, “If your mom says okay then you can go. But with a chaperon.”
Guess what was he surprised when her mom agreed. Mom asked why she says here I am always on. I’m dad’s daughter. Or I’m only good cause I’m his daughter. Then there is the media. He mom got it. She understood. She ends up going with her friend Angel a model. They agree to split up after the week stay at the happiest place on earth, Disneyland.
After a few weeks, she meets a good ole’ boy Beau and she falls head over hill but she can’t let him know that or even herself.
I loved the adventure to find herself. I love her cockiness and her softness she tries so hard not to show anyone. I love Beau yet all through the book I keep thinking is he too slick or is it me?
I so want to believe it can work but there is so much working against them number one being her fear. I couldn’t put this down. Even though this was a to be continued book it ended in a good place to do it and with enough teeth to make you say Yeah!

5 stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Phoebe Reede needed space to discover who the girl behind the car and the media really was. A trip overseas found her discovering much more than she ever imagined.

Phase blew me out of the water! It’s a sweet young adult romance that has you discovering who Phoebe Reede truly is, right along with her. This story had my heart full of love and feeling all swoony. I was captivated from the very beginning and knew that the adventure ahead for Phoebe would be one, I as a reader would never forget. Michelle Irwin has without any doubt pulled out all the stops with Phase and written another brilliant story that she has poured her heart and soul into.

Phoebe without any doubt and much to her annoyance at times is so much like her father the one and only Declan Reede, and that to me is not a bad thing at all. She is as passionate, caring and loving as he was, along with a wonderfully structured vocabulary that has you laughing out loud often. She also holds traits of her mother Alyssa, and the two combined are what make her irresistible and easy to love.

On her travels she meets an array of people, and one person captured her full attention. They were hard to forget, to ignore or to try and resist. I have no doubt that most readers with want a piece of this character too. Their charm, humour and heart was alluring in all the right ways. The adventures and fun they had together is unforgettable and I felt as though I was living the adventures right along with them.

This story is not without its misunderstandings and miscommunications. This book will leave you wanting so much more and with a mixture of feelings. Frustration at the lack of communication and stubbornness. Hurt that something so wonderful suddenly became something so much more devastating. And wonder in how the bomb shell happened. Who was involved and what did they do to create unease and devastation. Yes, this book does leave you with a cliff hanger and for me one of the best kind. I cannot wait to see Phoebe follow her dream and how her path pans out.

Phoebe Reede’s adventure has only just begun……

If you love romance, suspense and humour than I highly recommend Phase by Michelle Irwin and in order to get the full reading experience I would suggest reading the Declan Reede series first, although this book can easily be read as a standalone.

***** 5 Cranky Stars *****

I highly recommend that you read the Declan series first to get the full effect of Phase.

Speed, Sexy, Soulful, Sensual and Sensitive. So many "S" words come to mind when thinking of this book. Phoebe is all grown up and struggling with so many different issues. Racing cars is her passion and she just discovered the freedom her motorcycle gives her.

She's constantly compared to her daddy, the great Declan Reede racing superstar. Her eyes, driving style, attitude and looks are just like her daddy too. The problem is that she's questioning who she is beyond her daddy's legacy.

At 17 years old, Phoebe is a true talent on and off the track. She rebels like any teenager would trying to find who she really is and how she fits in this world. On a mission with her BFF Angel they head to the states. What started out as a fun trip of self discovery, quickly turns into her discovering more than the sites she visits.

Beau is a cowboy with a heart of gold. He has ingrained morals and values that will make any woman swoon. There's only one thing that could make him weak and that's the turquoise eyed beauty he bumped into by chance.

This is a coming of age story that rivals all others I've read. Michelle Irwin is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. The way she puts real emotions into her stories makes them addicting. I will warn you that the ending will leave you begging for more. This Cranky reader highly recommends this.

I started reading Phase without reading the books about Phoebe's father, Declan Reede. That being said, I did not know the back story of the Reede legacy. However, this information was not needed to enjoy Phoebe's story.

Phoebe is just about to turn 18. She is a great race car driver, but wants her own identity. She is tired of being in her father's shadow. She talks her parents into letting her summer in the States so that she can get away from the fame of being Phoebe Reede, a household name in Australia. Taking a break from being Phoebe is just what she needs to recharge before the new race season begins. However, things don't go as planned.

Phoebe doesn't take into account mechanical problems with her bike or a band mix-up at the local watering hole. All of this leads her to the handsome cowboy, Beau. Phoebe is drawn to Beau, but knows that nothing can come of their sort-of date, because she is leaving to continue on her cross-country trek. Beau doesn't want to give up. He is intrigued by the Australian and must see more of her. His tenacity pays off and he is able to slip her a gift before she leaves town. Will it be enough to make Phoebe want to stay in touch? Will Phoebe throw caution to the wind and take a chance in getting to know Beau before going back home to Australia?

Phase is a good read. I loved Phoebe's character. She is smart, sassy, and has a bit of a sarcastic potty mouth. I can definitely relate to her character. Beau is a southern gentleman. He wears his heart on his sleeve. These two characters are perfect for each other. The build of their relationship leapt off the page and made you feel as if you were experiencing everything with them. I also liked all of the supporting characters. Angel and Phoebe are fun together and made me laugh.

A really good read! I need to get on the second book ASAP!

I've been so looking forward to reading Phoebe's story after being a big fan of Michelle Irwin's Declan Reede series and she doesn't disappoint, I was drawn in from the very first page.

Phoebe is a headstrong young woman that is so much like her father from her distinctive eyes and her need for freedom, and the buzz she gets from racing. She is also feisty and stubborn and won't give into Declan's demands of her giving up riding her motorbike and so she secretly gets her licence to ride without him knowing. I absolutely love a girl that likes to be a bit of a rebel and her character is a girl after my own heart, she knows what she wants and goes after it. She is also a very mature girl for her young age of 17 as she travels across the USA on her motorbike alone until she meets Beau on the day of her 18th Birthday.

Beau I fell in love with right from the start with his good manners and southern charm, he is a hot sexy Cowboy that is every girl's dream and he can sing and play guitar too! He is total poles apart from Phoebe but the chemistry between them is a slow burning fuse that ignites and becomes a blazing inferno that can't be denied.

The story is an eclectic mix of emotions there are some highs and some lows but they gave me the urge and the need to keep reading and see how things would play out between them once they were oceans apart after Phoebe returned home to Australia.

Be warned the ending has a major cliffhanger so now it's driving me mad to get my hands on the next book in this series as im already hooked, reeled in and sold on this amazing story.

Congrats to Michelle on another fantastic start to this new series your talent for writing gripping heartfelt stories knows no bounds. 5 Awesome Stars!

This is the first book I have read by Michelle Irwin and from the way the book pulled me in, I will definitely read more. I found the author gave enough background information that I didn't feel that I didn't know what was going on from the previous series about the heroine's father.
Phoebe is on the cusp of being an adult and she has been groomed to take over her father's racing empire and compete for his team. Feeling overwhelmed by her responsibility to her family and the legacy that lies before her. Phoebe manages to convince her family that she needs some time to find herself and goes to the US for an extended vacation. Her trip takes more than one unexpected detour, the biggest of which is a Southern gentleman named Beau.
Beau is truly swoon worthy. He is probably the most irresistible book boyfriend I have read in a long while. He's sweet, gentle, handsome and has that Southern drawl that makes women melt. Wildly attracted to each other the couple searches or a way to find common ground and maybe a relationship. The road if full of bumps and wrong turns, and just when the finish line is on the horizon another roadblock is thrown in front of the couple. Phoebe is trying to find her way into adulthood and Beau maybe the key.
Ms. Irwin's writing is tight and the plot is well paced, even though it can be complex. It just adds more layers to the story. I loved the characters and the relationships they develop and as for the sex scenes, they are beautifully written and sensual. I'm hoping to read a lot more of this author in the future.

Title - PHASE - Phoebe Reede: The Untold Story #1
Author - Michelle Irwin

I love Declan Reede and was very excited to see Michelle had written a book about his daughter Phoebe.

And What a brilliant book it is, Phoebe is so like her father in more ways then you think.

The Last we read of phoebe is in Declan's last book and she was only a little girl. Now phoebe in this book is turning 18, she has followed in her father's footsteps, but like her father she wants to run.
Phoebe decides to take some time out and discover who she really is, not being able to do that in Australia as everyone knows she is Declan Reede's daughter, Phoebe is going to drive around the USA well bike it actually but her daddy doesn't know that.

I have to say Phoebe is a brave strong willed lady. She knows what she wants and she goes for it all the time. Phoebe whilst in America meets a hunky cowboy called Beau, but she hides who she is from him.

The story is brilliantly written it will make you laugh and it will definitely make you cry. The love that's put into this book between the two is quite emotional. Michelle knows how to plot her story to keep you interested and wanting to know more.

I loved every single minute of reading this story and I'm on tender hooks for the next one, as Michelle definitely leaves you hanging but in a really good way.
So Michelle you better hurry with the next one as I'm dying to hear some more of Phoebe and the hunky cowboy.

Phase is the spin of series of the author’s popular Declan Reed story and I found that it is a promising start to the new series by the author. I found that I really enjoyed the story. There was a lot of emotion written throughout the story that shows the feelings that the main character is currently feeling throughout the story.

Phoebe is a feisty headstrong character that has to deal with a lot throughout her young life. I really enjoyed reading about Phoebe and the way that she was a strong character. I enjoyed reading the passion that she had for car racing and have to laugh at some of the things that she says.

I found Beau to be a bit of mystery and I really enjoyed that about him. Beau is the sweet Southern gentleman and was swooning over him from the start. He was a sexy and caring character that I absolutely adored.

Phase is about Phoebe Reede who is the daughter of the famous race car driver Declan Reede who is trying to break away the holds of expectations that come from being a Reede. Phoebe goes overseas in her search for freedom and sees her meeting the gorgeous Beau.

Overall, I enjoyed this story a lot and I really enjoyed the writing style of the author. I had not previously read any of the authors work and found that I really enjoyed Michelle Irwin’s writing. I really enjoyed the characters within the story and especially the secondary characters that appear throughout the story. This was a great coming of age story about young love.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

The only thing I don't like is that I have to wait till January for the next book! As usual Michelle Irwin has wrote another fantastic book and I can't wait to read more of Phoebe's series! It was a rocky road for her father, Declan Reede and now it seems poor Phoebe is going to have challenging path as well. Phase ends on a frustrating note, but I'm not too mad. I know it's just another misunderstanding, and I'm pretty sure a certain Maxie is the reason. I believe Phoebe will have a happily ever after, but I'm anxious to read about the bumps in the road along the way!

LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

Phase Is the first book in the Phoebe Reede story. This is a spin off from the Declan Reede series.

You don't have to read Dec's books to read Phoebe's but it helps and to be honest, they're great books... if you haven't already read them, you're really missing out!

An absolutely brilliant book that had me hooked from the beginning and I didn't want to end

Highly recommended

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and it will not be the last. It was not really necessary to read the previous books from this author to follow this story, but I actually wish I had!
Phoebe is a bit of a rebel, and takes off on her motorbike to get some freedom. She meets Beau, a hot and sexy cowboy, and the chemistry between them is smouldering.
This is an enjoyable read, and ends on a major cliffy! I look forward to reading more of Michelle’s work in the future.

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** I became a huge fan of Michelle with Declan’s series, and now she started a series with Declan’s oldest daughter? I didn’t think I could become a bigger fan! Phoebe is on a mission to figure out herself, trying to step out of her father’s limelight, and basically finding her own. Being Declan’s daughter, of course she’s going to pick up on driving, but in a man’s sport, will she be accepted on her own terms? She works out a plan with her friend Angel to take a vacation overseas. However, unknown to her parents, her and Angel separate almost immediately after getting off the plane in the US. Phoebe plans on touring the country while trying to figure herself out. On this trip she runs into many people but one in particular catches her fancy. What can honestly happen though when you are on a tight time frame? Could this possibly be the one for her, even though there is a huge mile difference between them?
I honestly don’t know what I can say that I haven’t already in previous reviews for Michelle. She is a great author, writer, and story teller. From page 1 she sucks you into her stories. You honestly feel like you are living the dream. Just like Declan’s stories, Phoebe’s stories suck you in and piss you off with the cliffhangers! Michelle definitely knows exactly where to stop, which draws you in even more, because you HAVE to know how the story continues!

4 Stars!

I gotta admit, this was better than I thought it would be. I am leery of spin-offs and really, how does one live up to the awesomeness that is Declan Reede. So to read a story about his daughter, I wasn’t sure how this would go. Well, color me surprised!

Phoebe is an enthralling character with a lot of depth and facets. She is her mother’s daughter and at the same time, her father’s. I enjoyed reading her journey to self-discovery. She is a unique and special character with so much love and caring.

A great read that will have you wanting more of Phoebe. Never fear, there are more books in the series.

First loves and broken hearts go hand in hand. Michelle's mindfulness to detail with the characters and their relationships with their family and friends, has the reader feeling as if they are right there next to the characters. You find yourself laughing at Phoebe and Angel's friendship, falling in love and just a fast, crying with heartache when that love is destroyed.

Phoebe's life is not easy. She has lived in her Dad's shadow most of her career, the guilt she carries for living, the stress her family has been under with her little sister's health. Leaving Australia and going to the US for a break is the beginning of this intimate story of how her life changes in such a short amount of time.

Beau isn't what he is portrayed to be. The guilt he carries, his racing career and always in the public's eye, he finds the Australian tourist intriguing.

Their love is fast and hard, as well the breakup. Their love grows fast with each page and the more time they spend with one another. When it's time for Phoebe to go back home, the way she leaves Beau is a painful goodbye, but not as painful as the heartache, anger and betrayal they will both endure.

Loved the chemistry between these characters. Their banter with one another was written with a talented mind who can have two completely opposites, from different countries, make a connection that will be engrained in your heart.

You know, you can’t help but be scared for what you’re about to read when the author’s dedication at the beginning tells fans “I’m sorry”. Sounds ominous, right? Moving on. For those of you who’ve read the Declan Reede series, you’ll know who Phoebe is. For those of you that haven’t, that’s ok, because you can step into Phoebe’s series just fine. She was just four years old in Declan’s series, but in this series she’s an eighteen year old woman trying to figure out who she is away from her father’s fame and talent. She loves her family but is desperate for some alone time, so she embarks on a six week trip across America, which is where she meets Beau.

I liked Phoebe, who I thought was brave and not afraid to speak her mind, but there were times where I thought she was a little too sensitive because of how quickly she would fly off the handle. Like father, like daughter, I suppose. There were also times where I found her to be a little irritating, mainly when she was going on about trying to figure out who she was, or constantly talking about Beau’s accent. And as sexist as this will make me sound, I wasn’t a fan of her crude talk, given her age and the fact that she’s a girl. I know, I know. Feel free to shake your head at me. Now Beau on the other hand I really liked and found to be totally swoon-worthy because he was a true gentleman; perfect for rough-around-the-edges Phoebe. He’s super sweet and a real nice guy, at least up until the end when everything goes horribly wrong. I enjoyed reading their dialogue, which at times was funny, cute and awkward.

“How can I feel this way, Beau? We hardly know each other. It can’t be love.”
“Love don’t know nothin’ of time, darlin’. Or knowledge. It just is.”

PHASE is told only in Phoebe’s POV and is the beginning of a new series, one where the books will not be stand-alones. I would classify PHASE as an instalove, and be warned because it does end in a cliffhanger. While I thought the bulk of the story was nice and sweet and romantic, I also found it to be a little slow, probably because I was expecting the same intensity I found in Declan’s story. But when I got to the end, that changed because the ending was soul crushing and heartbreaking. It left me angry and upset, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days and days. I just kept wondering where Beau and Phoebe will go to from here and praying that they won’t do anything stupid in the next book/s. A book that has me getting emotional about it days later deserves the maximum rating. I can’t wait for the next book, PHOBIC, to come out January next year.

Phoebe is not the little girl that we first fell in love with in Michelle Irwin’s series Declan Reede: The Untold Story and if you have not read Declan’s series this review may contain a spoiler or two as Phase is the start of a new series that has spun off of Declan.
Phoebe is grown up, or as grown up as you can be at eighteen years old. Most of her life she has lived in the shadow of her dad and around cars. Wanting a chance to just be Phoebe and not the daughter of Declan Reede, she convinces her parents to allow her to travel the United States in an effort to find herself. This journey turns out to be more than what she expected and was she able to find herself before it was time to return home.
Michelle Irwin has done it once again with the start of this series. I love how part of the story we are still in Australia and yet other parts we are traveling in the United States. The author has done her research on places that Phoebe visits and at times I felt like I was the one traveling right along with Phoebe. Again we find that every detail has a reason in this book. I loved being able to catch up with the characters from the other series but meeting new characters such as Angel and Beau.
Angel is a trip and brings some great laughs and is a great friend to support Phoebe in her quest to find herself. You can really feel the love between these two friends. They are there for each other as well as partners in crime. The fact that Angel will travel with Phoebe so that her parents will allow her to travel overseas speaks volumes to this strong bond they share as friends.
Beau is a mystery but doesn’t want to let go of what he finds. I was back and forth on who Beau really was which added some great mystery to the story. Beau is most definitely your Southern Boy that will have ya’ll swooning. When we first are introduced to Beau, it is so unexpected and not at all what is expected. I love how he finds ways to keep in touch with her on her journey. But what will happen if he learns her secrets, will he still want to be around her?
Phoebe had to learn how to grow up being tough with being a female in a man’s world of race car driving hasn’t been easy even if her daddy is Declan Reede. Letting down that tough exterior is not a simple task even when you meet someone you want to get to know better yet knowing it can’t lead to anything when she is only visiting. Phase will take you on a non-stop ride that you will not be able to put down as you will be cheering for some events and ready to toss your kindle at others. I can’t wait to see where the road takes us as we continue the next in the series as this one will leave us on a cliff needing more.

Seeing first loves in books is always eye opening especially the challenges that come with it. Being in the shadow of your dad, which Phoebe has always thought she was, not only puts a damper on things but also makes new challenges for her. Phoebe needs a break so she decides to go to the states for that break. In her travels she meets a boy, of course, and we all know what happens. They fall in love and live happily ever after right? Not so much. They lived worlds apart, so they go on this whirlwind romance and find that they have fallen in love. That would be great if they could be living in the same country together, but that is a big factor in this book. Needless to say they say goodbye and it hurts. Some options come into play and everything starts to come into a new light. This story is raw. It gives you the first impressions of a first love. What can happen, what shouldn't happen, why it is happening, and of course the whole climax and drama that comes with everything. Remember they are their own celebrities and so life is hard to stay out of the spot light.

I loved both Phoebe and Beau. They are so passionate about what they do and about how the feel. You can feel the intensity throughout this book and that is the one thing I do look for in a book. Seeing what plays out throughout the whole book was amazing. You can see that this a ride that no one is going to get off too soon. With some lies started and pictures scattered through the internet, the only thing you can ask is who? Who is to blame for it. Destroying people's life is bad, but to damage a celebrity in the lime light is worse, especially when she is leaving her family and fending herself over in the states. What will happen, we don't know till we read the next book. Which I plan on soon. The more I read this book the more I wanted. I loved seeing how life is going to plahy out for these two. They are both full of life and I think they need each other, but thye need to find thei way back to each other if they are going to have a chance.

The author was brilliant in this book. The details, perfect. The drama something that you could see happening. First loves, one of the best I have seen in awhile from books. My need to find out more about this couple is overwhelming. I want to know as much as a can and I want to see how they grow from the obstacles that are going to be in their way. This is a cliff hanger so be prepared.

WOW!! Michelle Irwin has started a new series, Phoebe Reede: The Untold Story with the book Phase. If you read Declan Reede: The Untold Story Series you know who Phoebe is and what her life has been like. This series is a spin-off of Declan's series. You don't need to read Declan's story to read this one but I highly recommend it.

Phase is another wild ride. A great start to a new series. While most teens go through a period of figuring out who they really are and what they want out of life, Phoebe is no different. Except in her case, she has truly lived in her father's shadow. Never knowing if people liked her for who she was or because of who her dad was. Never knowing who was honest about being her friend. One of the pitfalls of having a legend for a parent and then following in their footsteps.

As always, Michelle Irwin's books grab your attention and don't let go. The characters are developed and unique. The storyline interesting. Definitely a good read. The cliffhanger ending didn't come as a surprise. I saw it coming as soon as...well, I can't say without putting a spoiler in here. Knowing didn't detract from the story.

I do have a problem with Beau. His accent wasn't authentic to me. It was too stereotypical of a hayseed Southern hick. Like Crocodile Dundee was a caricature of Australians. I would have preferred it if the accent and speech patterns had been toned down and more realistic. And yes, I live in the South.

I hate to have to wait until next year for the next book in this series!! It will be torture as I REALLY want to see where it is headed.

REVIEW

I was so thrilled to see that this author started this series. Declan' and Alyssa' daughter Phoebe is growing up. She is so much like her father that it causes a lot of riff between them. When we last heard about Phoebe she was still a very young girl and had no cares in the world but she is now going on eighteen and wants to step out of her dad' shadow. She doesn't want to race cars like he did she likes things that go vroom on two wheels. She heads off to go stay with Edie who she looks to as an aunt. Edie saw the same signs in Phoebe that she saw many years ago in
Declan she is a runner just like her father.

Well what happens when Phoebe travels across the pond and sets her sights on much more than two wheels? When the object of her desire has two legs? And what about that gift her twin brother left her? Beau and Phoebe will just break your heart.

I cannot wait to find out what happens next. Fantastic beginning to a new series. Although this is a spin off and likely could be read as a stand alone I'd suggest you begin with the Declan Reede series so you know what’s what and whose who. Oh and we do get a cliffhanger.

I was gifted this book for my honest review.

OMG Michelle you have done it again, couldn't put this down and on the last page thought my Kindle had broken as I couldn't get to the next page, then it dawned on me that I was at 100%.

If you have read Michelle Irwin's Declan Reede's: The untold Story then you would have already met Phoebe's and know all about her start in life and built a relationship with this little girl that is now all grown up (well almost).

Don't worry however if this is the first of Michelle's books you have read though because she writes in such a fluid way that even if you don't have a history with this young woman you will soon learn all about her.

Definitely a recommendation to all adults readers.

Phoebe's Story
Living in the shadow of a legend has its drawbacks.

Every aspect of Phoebe Reede’s life has been defined by her father. Caught halfway between being a teen and an adult, she yearns to break free from the weight of expectations surrounding the Reede name.

Her desire for freedom sends her overseas on her first solo journey. There, she finds herself having an unexpected adventure with an unlikely person.

How can she learn who she wants to be and what is nothing more than a phase?

Oh my Michelle Irwin has done it again!
This is a next generation series and what a start with this fabulous book.
Phoebe Reede is the daughter of Declan Reede, a famous Australian car racer. She has been around and involved in this world from a very early age. Not only does she drive extremely proficiently but is also a worthwhile mechanic to boot!
Beau Miller is a stock car racing driver in America who is doing really well. The two meet and this is the beginning of a close friendship.
I really liked the sassy, strong way Phoebe tackles things, she is an extremely likeable character. Beau is as well, he comes across as the boy next door type that you'd love to have on your life.
The settings are varied, from Australia to America and help to paint a clear picture of what is happening in the story. The plot is realistic and entertaining with it's problems and solutions. Michelle makes it so easy to visualise the story through these descriptions. She is a magician with words that cast a spell over the reader to make you want more and more.
I am so looking forward to book 2 and recommend this book to everyone.

This is the first I have read by this author and Wow! just Wow! I couldn't put it down, read it in less than 24 hrs. Seriously so good!!
I knew it was a spinoff but I was given enough to understand the back story but also the perfect amount to make want to know more of it. (I will definitely be looking into the original series)
This was a coming of age story a girl looking to find herself. She took a trip that would scare the crap out of my and found sweet first love. Beau and Pheobe had a love story that was perfect but made me sad because I was afraid of how it would end. Yep my heart was broken!!
But it was healed it was going to all workout I was smiling!! Until it all went so wrong and I am hit with that ending. I just sat there looking at my Kindle, soaking it all in and thinking OH SH#T! The next book is going to be good!!!!
