this book was given to me for an honest review
5 stars.
Starting a review for this book was difficult. I was so angry with the author at the beginning of this book. To mess with a fairy tale life, something so perfect and to tear it apart, I wanted to throw the book and ask why. Why would you want to destroy a love that seemed so perfect that nothing could mess with it. So after ten minutes I picked up my kindle again and thought okay there has to be a reasonable explanation on why you would destroy peoples lives. And there was. Life is never perfect. People are imperfect, they have faults, they make mistakes, and they lie. You trust love, you trust that one person will be yours and only yours and there are no secrets. So no the author didn't destroy these characters they did because they are human. Caroline and Evan were high school sweet hearts. They loved each other since school and did everything together. Evan became a police officer and Caroline a teacher. They were living a fairy tale. So what happens when a case can destroy a relationship and secrets get hidden before they can be let into the light. Evan in my opinion was a good guy, but just did the wrong things. He hurt people that should never been hurt, but in the end I feel that he paid too much for his mistakes. Caroline, I love her she is the one that was completely real through out the whole book, she is pure and when things happen she is destroyed. Nine months. Life didn't go as plan and nine months Caroline is just not surviving. I do have to tell you I can't tell you what happens and the reason is, that you would not get the same intensity I did with when I opened the pages of this book. Mason comes back from an undercover job and sees Caroline is not progressing so he moves in and decides to help. He's a protector, he wants to help where he can, but the problem is he is holding secrets about Evan, and not only that the case he's working on can't be discussed with Caroline because he doesn't want her to know. So what happens when the best friend moves in to help Caroline live again and he can't even be as honest with her as he wants to be.
There is so much to this story that I can't even tell you and it is so frustrating. I never give you more than you should know before reading the book, but I have to tell you it is not what you are going to expect. It will make you want to throw the book and not want to pick it back up. You are going to cry, because it is going to hurt to read some of the pages. You are going to pull for these characters to get through what they need to get through. You are going to want to reach the end, because when all those pieces fall together, you realize this book was more than a book, it was people's lives. Lives although they are in a book, it could happen. Then you are going to want to kill the author because you just want more. You want more of what you have read, you want to be in their lives longer than the hours you have read this book.
This book reminds you if you go into a relationship with blinders, you will miss what is going on around you. If you don't look right in front of you, you will miss the best things, and life goes on. You just have to find a way to work through it all, It might take days, months, or years, but eventually you find that one thing, person you need and you will cherish it till you die.
