Fourteen-year-old Milani Elliot’s suffered crisis on top of crisis, the likes of which most people never come back from, eventually pushing her over an edge, into a promiscuous lifestyle at only sixteen, allowing her to use boys then men from every walk of life as the years progressed in Miami, Florida. However, she had no idea that she would meet the one true love of her life at the tender age seventeen; a year after she started looking for love in all the wrong places and she had no idea he would break her heart because of her trifling behavior.
Eight years later, she’s developed a sex schedule and has no problem tossing men off of like day-old trash when they can no longer fulfill whatever need that made her sleep with them in the first place, but it’s time for Milani to learn that Karma’s a bitch who will make her pay for every selfish misdeed that earned her the title of ‘Trifling’. She just doesn’t know that she’ll pay for every transgression at one time, in one night, and maybe even with her only life.
Rhys Malone is the last person that Milani allowed to hurt her. He’s a married, criminal attorney that loves his wife wholeheartedly, and he’ll never cross the vast distance between who he and Milani are inside and out as people. To him, she'll always be a drug kingpin’s daughter and a whore.
The murder of Rhys’ wife will put Milani on his street, in the right place at the wrong time, to come face to face with the love of her life, who accuses her of the killing. He's certain her love for him is the cause, giving her every reason to clear her name. They enter the proverbial, sinking boat together, unwillingly. The vast distance between a drug kingpin’s daughter and a wealthy, married lawyer will start to shrink, as they look for his wife's killer. They both will drown if they don’t find the murderer in time.
I felt like I was watching an Awesome Episode Of Law & Order
As usual, London Starr has left stuck and feming to read the next book in this series!! This was not at all like I expected, and before I was even 12% into this book, my jaw had already hit the ground. I fell quickly for Malani and her unfortunate circumstances. In fact, there were a couple of instances where I had to put the book down and digest all that she was going through. It didn't take long though for me to pick the book back up again (literally less than 10 mins) and continue to read because I just couldn't wait to see what happened next. There were moments in this story where I felt Malani got exactly what she deserved... I have never been one to support a woman who had no problem sleeping with a married man. But after awhile, when Karma began sprouting it's ugly head, I began to feel for her and I have to give credit to the author for painting a brilliant picture of how that type of lifestyle could really backfire on a person... I genuinely enjoy how Malani changed throughout the book, starting off as a heartless bitch and ending up being a woman who understood that every action she made in life had an equal reaction. This was a beautiful story that ended even more beautifully than I could have ever imagined... Most books that you read leave a few strings dangling that leave you utterly hanging on edge, but not this one. One thing I enjoy about ALL London Starr's books (I have read her work before and became a HUGE fan) is that she has a talent for closing a book the way that it should be. All questions are answered, and my heart is filled with warmth every time. It was very similar to watching a really good Law & Order sitcom with all the suspense, the small humor, the murder and the happy ending, that almost wasn't happy... I felt as though I had watched the best tv show I had ever experienced. Especially after finding out that Bob wanted to be a permanent structure in her life, especially with a special 'blessing' on the way (I dont want to give away the big secret because I literally was in awe when I found out at the end of the book and I want other readers to be just as surprised as I was). I was in a trance as it ended and wanted to read it all over again to reach the all time highs, and the literal lows that I just couldn't get enough of all over again... This is yet another hit! Can't wait until Trifling: Talon's story, the next book in the series comes out. I am interested in getting to know all of these characters, just a bit more! Love how the author ties all of her characters together! Keep them coming, honey!
