Only One Summer

Rate this book
In the beginning, the author wrote ONLY ONE SUMMER as an inheritance gift for her 'unsaved' friends and loved ones, those who were not Christians. If she died before they were converted, she planned to speak to them from beyond the grave, through the book. The writer shared various childhood memories mingled with 25 Biblical Truths in an attempt to lead those special people to Jesus. In time, friends read her story and the consensus was that she should make it available to a wider audience. Desiring to convey the messages both pleasingly and beneficially, Faye gave the matter serious consideration. She decided to portray herself as the two main characters in the story, simultaneously, using an element of fiction in order to achieve her goal. She expressed her childhood memories through the student, Rose, and her adult life lessons through the teacher, Abigail Worthington, and the book came to fruition. In the end, it was plain to see the book was not like literary works by Hemingway, London or Twain. It turned out to be just a simple little book - but remember, God uses the simple things in this world to confound the wise…

All I Can Say Is - What A Children's Mentor Story!

All I can say is WOW! The author Faye Aldridge, gives a great allegory of salvation using herself and family to illustrate the redemption of Christ like never before. This season will be a memorable one to Rose Wood, a six year old little girl receiving Jesus Christ in her heart by her teacher Abigil Worthington. When you read this book you'll be cought up with Rose and her family and friends because they're so heart warming like yours. But, as you read each chapter you will see each character come alive before your very eyes.

You are special in God's eyes - this book came to fruition for you. What do I mean by that statement - "this book came to fruition for you?" This allegorical story was only told to Faye's family members and friends alike, and to small gatherings that she was invited to minister. But God had a bigger plan for this story and that plan was to put the story into book form so all the earth will hear this story - that's how this book came to fruition for you.

Reading through the pages of this book, the author simultaneously portray herself as the two main characters in the story, using an element of fiction in order to achieve her goal - salvation through Jesus Christ. By the time you get the end of this book, your heart will be filled with the love of God oozing all over you. You talk about mentorship - this story is Titus 2 in operation. You probably say, "I don't have a summer like Rose." Let me ask you this question, "do you have - one day for a person, one weekend with a person, or even one night with a person?" You get the picture of what I'm trying to say. Let me stop here before I tell you all about the book.

I recommend this book to all those who have an ear to hear the Spirit of God in a new direction. Sit back and relax and see your family and friends in each of these characters. If you have a desire to talk about Jesus Christ to your grandchildren, nephew/niece, or any young person around you - this is the book. If you let go of yourself; then God will give you a story to give to the world.

My Leaving Thoughts:
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. Titus 2:11
