Okay, not REALLY my favorite book, but since it is the means to my being in grad school and earning a MS degree, I guess I won't complain against it. Between work picking up (hooray!), this class, RS Pres. calling, and the library being REALLY slow on filling my holds...my reading is at a new low. (Plus, Isabel figured out that when Mommy has a book, Isabel doesn't get nearly as much attention...she's taken to hitting the books out of my hands, so no more reading when she's awake...sigh...) Anyway, I take my first test from this book this week, and then I'm planning on "binging" on some books, whether the library has my books on hold or not. :)
This is a straightforward textbook on sports nutrition. The layout and organization of information are clear and the jargon is kept to a minimum. I believe the audience for this book are those who have a basic understanding of nutrition and the metabolic processes involved. The information and evidence is slightly outdated, but most of the recommendations hold up today. The author also addresses common issues that athletes may have with regard to their type of sport. I will definitely keep this for future reference.
