Double Vision - Seeing God In Everyday Life Through Devotions and Poetry

Rate this book
Crumpled paper towels. Embers in a wood stove. A crowded bird feeder. Can God speak to us through such commonplace objects? Can we catch a glimpse of Him in the midst of our routine activities?

Double Seeing God in Everyday Life Through Devotions and Poetry contains thirty devotions, each paired with a poem on the same subject—a double eye-opener. Viewing the same spiritual truth two ways will help you see daily life from an eternal perspective. Pasch's simple yet thought-provoking analogies will prompt you to take a second look at the most ordinary experience and see God's hand at work.

I really enjoyed this devotional book. It was eye opening as to how the very ordinary events in our lives can show us Christ.

I've been working through this collection of poetry and devotions for a while now and have enjoyed reading it. While this isn't the typical devotion book I would usually read, the addition of poetry was a nice change.

Each chapter consists of a poem and related devotion. My personal favorites were chapters 5 and 6. Pasch focuses on beginning anew in chapter 5; that was particularly applicable because I was reading as a new year approached.

The next chapter resonated with me too. In a world of distractions everywhere we turn, the reminder to listen to the Holy Spirit, be sensitive to His voice, and instantly obey is ever so timely.

I would certainly recommend this devotional to a friend. While it would be a good addition to anyone's daily quiet time, it would be an especially nice book for those who find themselves overscheduled and overwhelmed. The chapters are short, relevant, and to the point. It would also be a good devotional for someone who has difficulty committing to daily Bible reading for other reasons. Because the chapters are short, they are "newbie" friendly and wouldn't be daunting.

Thank you to Lighthouse Publishers of the Carolinas for the opportunity to read and review this!

I had my eye on this book after seeing it promoted on Twitter, so when it came up as a temporary free Kindle book from Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, I grabbed it. Frances Gregory Pasch wrote about lessons she learned through her Bible reading and observations of daily life. She demonstrated God's love and faithfulness in the short devotions she shared. Her writing reminded me to pay attention to what God is saying to me in the ordinary moments. We don't need to go to a monastery to hear God speak to us.

Page 135, Double Vision ~ EYE FACT: The human eye will focus on about fifty things per second.

What do you see today? The storms in life are hard to ignore; where is God in all this? Where do I find the strength to endure? Storms are part of everyday life. Do you see God in the midst of the turmoil? Can it be as simple as Devotions and Poetry?

In Double Vision, the wise and gentle words of author Frances Gregory Pasch soothe our stormy fifty things per second into one clear focus; seeing God in Everyday Life. Words worth contemplation and sharing.

Since this is a devotions book I have not finished it yet, but I have been using it. I really like the "double" of a poem and a personal story for each thought. She truly does bring a new view to things through her writing. I really appreciate this book. Thank you Goodreads and Frances Pasch for this Giveaway book!

The title caught my attention because I have a devotional book called Finding God in the Everyday coming out next year. So naturally I was curious about this book. It is a series of devotionals about seeing the hand of God in ordinary events. It also includes devotional poetry.

Very nicely done.

I've never been real big on poetry but the ones in this book were great. A very inspiring book. All new Christians should read it. It's great for old timers too.
