“When does conscious life begin?…Could it begin with the explosion of a perfect silence?”

Beautifully and poetically written while telling such a tragic story. A necessary read.

Honestly, this book was so incredibly depressing I wish it hadn't been my first read of 2011. It was well written, poetic even... but I almost wanted to commit myself after reading it. I'm sure how to rate it. I guess if you enjoy a story that quite possibly involves every single traumatic event that could ever occur all happening to one woman throughout her sad, lonely life than this is the book for you. I won't spoil the book by telling you whether or not she does go through with the suicide, but I will warn you that by then end you may just wish she does, so you can put an end to the misery of reading about her life.

Exquisitely painful, moving, soulful. I connected with this author and this book in a way I wish I didn't. Still, so grateful Ms. Ambert didn't keep our silence.

extremely painful story... one of the few writers who explore how women are perpetrators and victims of domestic violence

TOO MUCH DRAMA. I m still wondering how i managed to go through all this soap opera. i guess it was the style of writing(but still there were times that even the style was unbearably exaggerating)
