After restauranteur, Big Tommy Prather, is blown to pieces in his front yard, Mustang Ridges and her two best friends are on the case. While the local police have ruled the death an accident, Mustang and the girls suspect murder. They can prove it…sort of.
As the small community of Lakeside, Texas mourns the loss of one of its most beloved citizens, Mustang, Haley, and Monica do their level best to find someone who might want Big Tommy dead. Only…every single person they interview, loves Big Tommy. He volunteered at the food pantry, coached little league, sang in the church choir, and sponsored funding raising events for every cause under the sun. In short, he was Jesus with a beer gut.
When Haley is kidnapped by the killer, all hell breaks loose and Mustang must solve Big Tommy’s murder before her best friend is blown to pieces.
Wonderful, not only does the terrific storyline continue but there is an great cozy that's woven into the main story. The characters are as terrific as ever though I must admit that i got the feeling that our main character had mellowed a bit. On her way to meet her two BFF's, at their 'clubhouse', she is stopped by the local King of Chili and offered a sample. She hates the stuff but can't refuse. However she is saved as it turns out it hasn't finished cooking. As she is leaving the King and his house explode and are consumed by fire. Who wanted him dead because results show their were two explosions. As she investigates more questions then answers turn up. What are all the charities that the King was involved with? Add in a kidnapping, prostitution, extortion, shoot outs, body parts, and finding out who the kingpin is. Can't wait for the next book. Wonder if she'd want someone to hold her bag whilst she takes apart the kingpin?
I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first book in the series. I still really like the characters and the way we are hooked into an ongoing, overarching plot while still seeing the the other mysteries play out. However, this one had some things that nagged at me when it comes to the unbuttoning of the blouse at work or wearing certain revealing/suggestive clothing in the office in order to obtain supplies. I'm not opposed sexual scenes or suggestive themes in books but I cringe when it crosses to the office. It's just not something I want my heroine to do but it's just my personal preference. Other than that, I still enjoyed the book and will be starting #3 in the series soon!
I love the main character's quirky personality, her 2 best friends are ready for anything because with Mustang Ridges anything could be the next thing she gets them involved in! I was pleasantly surprised at how good the PTO Murder Club mysteries are. I really didn't want to put book 1 and 2 down. Ready to read Book 3! Sad that there are only 3 books in the series. Hopefully that will change. If you want a fun read that often causes you to laugh out loud read this series. Enjoy!
Mustang Ridges definitely sounds like an exotic dancer or old school actor/actress but, no, she's the president of her local PTO which consists of Haley and Monica, her two best friends. By deduction and a little happenstance, this executive branch of the PTO solves crimes and brings killers to justice. A fun and entertaining read.
Maybe even better than the first one. Many twists and turns in the plot. It keeps you guessing, shocks you , but all the details add up when you get to the conclusion. I love this series and I recommend it to those that like comedy, love interests and a mystery well blended.
I am absolutely crazy for Mustang Ridges. No holds barred, personally accountable (sort of), knows her faults and foibles, and accepts herself unconditionally. The PTO Murder Club stories make me stay up too late and wake up too early. Katie Graykowski, you can't write them fast enough! Two thumbs up!
The three main women in the PTO Murder Club are at it again. They are investigating another murder, one the police ruled as accidental death. There are many twists and turns to this story with very interesting surprises. Highly entertaining and hilarious.
these ladies are funny. i started with this book as it was offered free one day. i had known it was a series, but was unaware that there were storylines continued from book 1. While you can get through without reading book one, i think its probably better if you do.
Mustang hand her friends have a way of getting thrown into solving a murder every time they turn around. I really enjoy this series, well this is only the second one so far. Will be reading the rest.
Justin's neighbor gets blown up practically in front of her! She and her Friendswood very involved in finding out what happened and Haley gets kidnapped. Very thrilling book!
I am a real fan of this series about Mustang. If you loved reading about Stephanie Plum by Janet Evonavich you will love this author's work. Can't wait till she writes a fourth book in this series.
This author sure knows how to spin a tale. Once the action starts it keeps going. I finished and want to jump to the next book. Great read. Enjoy the crazy ride.
So many twists and turns with this mystery that your head will spin. I really enjoyed listening to this book and the ending has me hoping the next is already available.
It will keep you guessing until the very end! You will never see this one coming! I loved the characters, can't wait to see what happens to them in the next book!
This was a laugh out loud very funny book! I’m starting the next in the series right now. I can’t wait to see what happens next to these three best friends.
I enjoyed this novel. The writer has a dry sense of humour which I really appreciated. It had me chuckling out loud a few times and kept me wanting to pick the book up. It was a great read.
I gave it four Stars instead of 5. Story started out interesting. As I read, it didn’t keep me interested. It got better near the end. It still is a good book.
This book was a hoot. Refreshing and funny. I loved the main character, I thought she was sassy and funny. Everyone who loves a good book should read this book.
I enjoyed this book in so many ways, but it could have been better. The characters were well developed and likable. The plot made a good mystery. I did not figure it out until close to the end. But, the humor was off-color and sounded like it came from an over sexed teenager. I could overlook that, as well as, the poor editing, but not enough to want to read another!
This book was a hoot. Mustang and her friends are back and this time Mustang is on location when the death happens. The town chili champion has been blown to bits along with his house. So of course Mustang and the gang are going to investigate and solve this murder.
But of course the two men in her life who are determined to protect her are both trying to stop her
Mustang Ridges is more of a stripper name than the President of the Bee Creek Elementary PTO. She and her friends, Monica and Haley. are trying to solve the murder of Big Tommy who was blown to pieces in front of Mustang as she is driving down the street. Oh, the dilemma of choosing between two men - Ben, the local cop who worked for her ex-husband and Daman, the mystery man who is always there.
I would love to give a spoiler but then it would ruin the book for some who has not read it and I hate that don't you. If you are looking for a new author then Katie Graykowski is for you. This is the second book in the PTO Murder Club Mystery and I have to say I have enjoyed both books and cannot wait for the next one.
