Jennifer Green woke to a splitting migrane; with her husband Drew away for work, it was up to her to get eight year old Brooke to school. But it was raining, so Jennifer elected to drive Brooke, though she organised with a friend to pick her up at the end of the school day. Kissing her daughter goodbye at the school gate, Jennifer headed to the drugstore for some medication. The migrane was much worse; her head felt like it was going to explode…

When Drew Bishop gets the phone call any spouse would dread, he never knew how awful things would be.
Drew's wife, Jennifer, was shot during a robbery simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The robber, Tom, had a twin that was in prison for worse crimes. When the twin, Eddie, was released, the evil continued where they had left off because Eddie wanted revenge for the death of his brother.
The characters in SILVER THREADS were all lovable, gentle, and people you would love to have in your life except for Eddie who caused grief.
The little that we read of Jennifer showed her to be the best mother, wife, and person anyone could wish for.
Drew was a hard-working man who did everything for his family.
Brooke was a sweet girl who had to deal with the loss of her mother who was her very best friend. A life without her mother is extremely traumatizing for Brooke as she tries to work her way through it all and as her father tries to be both mother and father and still make a living.
Ms. Crosby's books are filled with love and family and carry a theme of a sweetness for life. You are pulled in as always by the story line and the characters.
Ms. Crosby’s books are filled with goodness and a zest for life, and she knows how to turn bad into good. I needed tissues for some of the parts because they were such heartwarming situations.
SILVER THREADS was a beautiful, heartfelt read as all of her books are.
Don’t miss reading yet another touching, uplifting book by Ms. Crosby. 5/5

This is book #5 in the Memory House series and it did not disappoint. This is at times heart wrenching and at other times heartwarming. It is a magical book to say the least. Full of richly developed characters that I simply loved. I felt as if I were a part of this story. It made me feel a wide range of emotions. Sadness, hopefulness and love. It is a story of love, loss and family. A family of friends and a family of love. This story flows smoothly from beginning to end and captured me from the very first page. I laughed and I cried. You do not want to miss out on this book or this series. It will touch your soul as it did mine. It will make you believe that memories can be magical and are a gift to us from those we love. I highly recommend this series to all. Well written as always. Bette Lee Crosby has a special way of touching your heart with her stories. I can't wait to read many more of her books.

Life can change in an instant as Drew Bishop discovers. Events conspire to see Jennifer Bishop in the wrong place at the wrong time, so she is caught up in an attempted robbery gone horribly wrong. Drew wonders if he and his little daughter, Brooke, can ever be happy again. Drew has to make some hard decisions about balancing caring for Brooke and his work. He does not know that high above the clouds, the Keeper of the Scales, is at work to try and balance the stones of happiness and sorrow.
Having read the other four memory house books, I was thrilled to be given this one for Christmas to complete my set. I eagerly turned the first page. Even though there were tears, there are also heart-warming moments as well as moments of pure evil. Drew and Brooke captured my heart as did Elizabeth Cunningham who finds temporary refuge with Annie, Oliver and their twins in Memory House. Annie, who is a familiar character, is just as charming as ever.
I adored this book from the first page and was quickly and totally caught up in the lives of these characters. A delightful read. Bette Lee Crosby has the knack of telling a great story, with interesting characters and just that touch of otherworldliness, then pulling all the threads together beautifully.

This series is heartwarming and while not all characters have an easy life, and must deal with hard times, it all works out in the end. I love visiting Memory House in each book. The characters are endearing (well most of them!) and familiar (as long as you have read the other books in this series).
I like that the characters have to deal with some sort of tragedy/sadness before they get their happily ever after.
There are many great quotes in this book including one about living life for yourself.

This book is AWESOME!
I started reading it and I could not put the book down even while making dinner I was still reading it.
Of course when dinner was ready I had to stop at a cliff hanger moment and could not get back until morning to see what would happen. The story is very well written and filled with so much emotion that it will draw you right into the story. It will make you laugh and cry. This story is my new favorite in the Memory House series!

Imagine that every life is somehow linked to another by a very fine, almost invisible thread whether they know one another or not. Imagine that sometimes bad things happen to one or both of the individuals linked by this thread. And imagine again if the threads become crossed by those left from the previous actions. Then imagine that your life has been changed beyond anything you have ever dreamed of. This is what happened to Drew and Jennifer Bishop.
Bent on robbing the neighborhood drug store to pay a debt or have both legs broken, Tom Coggans couldn’t know that he would not make it out alive; neither would the vibrant, young woman, Jennifer. She probably would not have stopped at the drug store if not for the raging migraine headache she had. Her husband, Drew was away from home on business when the call came that his wife was involved in an accident and he needed to come home immediately and take care of their daughter, Brooke.
Things were different without Jennifer in their lives. Dear, sweet, thoughtful Jennifer. What did Drew know of taking care of a child? Much less his child who already lost her mother and was afraid of losing him. As if Drew and Brooke did not suffer enough, Tom Coggans’ twin, Eddie was to be released from prison. Eddie and Tom were to meet and begin their reign of terror again. However, Tom was gone and after learning of his death, Eddie blamed it on Jennifer and he planned to get even. Again the threads cross but this time Drew escapes being scathed.
With nothing left but painful memories, Drew makes the decision to move. Can he and Brooke find healing in their new home? Will they smile again?

Bette Lee Crosby has done it again with an inspiring story The Silver Threads: Memory House #5.
Imagine a scale with good on one side and evil on the other. Add a Keeper of the Scales who tries to keep the balance on the scale by placing different colored stones, some dark for unhappiness but some bright and colorful one for good. But these scales are not his alone, silver threads to other scales crisscrossing them and tie each together. The balance or tipping of another scale causes unexpected changes in the balance. All the Keeper can to is try and return the balance.
Jennifer Green’s, her husband Drew’s and daughter Brook’s are out of balance following a botched hold-up at a pharmacy that leaves Jennifer dead. Now the Keeper must re-balance the scales and find the silver thread that will lead Drew and Brooke to happiness again.
This was such a warm and beautiful book to read with such a special message within it. Ms Crosby has done a wonderful job in the Memory House Series writing with just the right touch of magic and faith. Her characters are so well developed that you feel that you know the personally. That feeing is even stronger if you have read some of the other Memory House books. However, this book can be enjoyed just as well as a stand-alone. Again, I look forward to reading more of Ms.Crosby’s books.

Jennifer drops her daughter Brooke off at school then goes to the pharmacy to get something for her horrid migraine. Her husband Drew travels for his job and is not home often. Everything changes after that trip to the pharmacy.
Brooke and her dad Drew face many challenges after that day. His job changes and he starts working from home. The neighbors are helpful and Brooke has school friends that she is close to as well.
I loved how the author tied the story together telling about the lives of the criminals, red-haired twins Eddie and Tom. This can be read as a stand alone book but ties into the Memory House series. I was mesmerized wanting to know what would happen next. Great job Mrs. Crosby!

MY REVIEW OF "SILVER THREADS" by BETTE LEE CROSBY
"Silver Threads by Bette Lee Crosby is such an enchanting and delightful heartwarming read. I read this in one sitting, and was so engrossed. "Silver Threads" is the fifth in the Memory House Series, and it is the only book that I have read and I look forward to reading all of the others. This was able to be read as a stand alone. The genres for this book are Fiction and Women's Fiction with a touch of "Magical Essence."
A description of this book says"High Above the clouds in a place not mortal has ever seen, there is a Scale of Life that is held in Balance with Stones of Happiness and Sorrow." In another description it says, "The Keeper of the Stones Smiled" "Since the beginning of time, He and he alone has been challenged with the task each person's scale in balance"."There are silver threads that crisscross the landscape of scales"..."and even the Keeper of the Scale can control the events traveling through those threads"
The author describes the characters as complex and complicated as the circumstances dictate. There are good and evil people. Drew his young daughter Brooke are mourning Jennifer, his wife, and her mother who was killed in a shoot-out in a pharmacy. It is very difficult for Drew to balance his work and be both parents to his young daughter, who is extremely distraught and is afraid to be alone without her father.
It becomes necessary after troubling events, for Drew and his daughter to sell and move away from their home. They stop at the "Memory House" and seem to find some peace there, while looking for a home closer to Drew's job. It seems that they get to meet some wonderful friends, and possibly things are looking up?! What does the Balance Keeper of the Stones see or have to say?
The author weaves her tale around good and evil. I love that the author discusses the importance of family, friends. loyalty, trust, love, hope , trust and faith. One of my favorite characters is Brooke, who as a child has been through so much, and yet seems to have the voice of an adult. I would highly recommend this novel to those readers that appreciate an emotional and heartwarming story. I look forward to reading more of Bette Lee Crosby's books.

FirstLine ~ On the day Jennifer Green was born, a pile of stones was placed alongside her scale of life.
This book was so very good. Crosby has an amazing way of developing her characters. You cannot help but be moved by their stories, their struggles and their accomplishments. You are brought into the lives of characters , some are new and some you have seen before from previous books in this series. There is nothing but heart in this book. You are left feeling satisfied by the bits of magic and faith that are sprinkled in the pages. A great and fulfilling read.

Silver Threads, The Memory House Series, Book Five by Bette Lee Crosby is a delightful, but poignant book. I gave it five stars.
"Since the beginning of time the Keeper alone has been challenged with the task of keeping each person’s scale in balance. A bit of happiness and then a small stone of sorrow, until the lives he has in his charge are measured evenly.
"You might think such power is universal, but it is not. There is a silver thread that crisscrosses the landscape of scales and connects strangers to one another. Not even the Keeper of the Scales can control the events traveling through the thread. The only thing he can do is try to equalize the balance once it has been thrown off."
Drew and Brooke Bishop stayed a Memory House and later Miss Elizabeth did.
Elizabeth Cunningham thought: "I never recognized the source of our problem and kept thinking that once we crossed this bridge of contention we’d find happiness on the other side."
This book brought tears. The characters are beautifully written. They will long remain in my memory.

There was once a priest in our parish who got me in awe with his homilies, I'd wish they were longer. That is the same way I feel about Bette Lee's books. I really, really wish they were longer! Not that I'd been left hanging at the end, the opposite is true: there's always a sense of fulfillment. But I always wished there were more chapters to enjoy.
The email for the advance copy of this book came when I was about to start reading another one which I actually already tagged as "currently reading". I had to put the other book back on the "to read" shelf, so I can read Silver Threads first. The only regret I have is I finished it too soon!
The fifth book in the "magical" series that is Memory House, Silver Threads is the story of the intertwining of lives. The Keeper of the Scales made an appearance again.... Drew and Brooke are father and daughter reeling and recovering from the sudden demise of Jennifer, wife and mother. Elizabeth Cunningham was seeking a fresh start away from the pitiful looks of her neighbors and friends after her husband left her. Mainstay characters Annie Doyle and Ophelia were of course present. Along with a host of other characters, the silver threads connect each of their scales to weave another great tale of family, friendship, hope, faith and love.

Bette Lee Crosby never disappoints me. I have read every single book she has written and loved them all. Each one seems to get better than the last.
Silver Threads is the perfect name for this story. It starts out sad but as with all the Memory House books there is a reason for everything. This book has heartbreak and complete true happiness. Loss and new beginnings.
It's another Crosby tearjerker that will leave you wanting more and rooting for love.
I absolutely loved this book. It had me from the first page and I hated to see it end and look forward to her next book.
I will not give anything away about a book so just believe me this one is wonderful and so worth your time. Get it and read it. It's another 5+ star book and deserves way more stars. I LOVED IT!!!

This is such a magical book! I was provided an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Bette is a born storyteller and "Silver Threads" is no exception. The story revolves Drew, Jennifer and Brooke Bishop and how fate (or is it?) controls their destiny. Of course, being part of the Memory House series makes it magical and brings new life and experiences out of dark tragedy.
It is a wonderful read, as are all of Bette's books and it's part of a wonderful series. Highly recommended!

This is by far the best book I have read this year! It will go down as one of my all time favorites. "Silver Threads" deals with loss, dealing with loss and going forward. No I do not dwell on depressing books, and you will find Bette Lee's unique dealing with such subjects heart warming. This, to me, is the book of the year!

This is by far my favorite Bette Lee Crosby book. Once you know you can trust an author you are not reluctant to read about tragedy and despair. Her books give you hope and this one does not disappoint.

What a wonderful, heartwarming story! I couldn't put it down! It contains all the elements of real life: happiness, sorrow, heartbreak, love and hatred with a touch of whimsy.

Bette Lee Crosby does a phenomenal job of bringing the positives needed in this world to a book on paper.
This is the latest book in her "Memory House" series.
Jennifer is a wonderful Mom, wife and friend and her time on earth is cut short by a vicious attack. She leaves a daughter- Brooke who is 8 and a husband Drew who is busy with work and moving up the ladder of success for his family.
Brooke does not cope with her Mom's death and Drew will do anything to try to make his daughter happy, even though he is miserable himself and desparately missing his wife.
"Everything Happens for a Reason" is the theme in this story.
Time marches on and after yet another threat, that has this family shaking, Drew decides to relocate to Virginia to help Brooke put the past behind her and begin to hopefully feel safe once more.
Where they go and how they end up where they are?
You will just have to see for yourself.
Once you finish this delightful story- I dare anyone to NOT believe that we are all connected and placed exactly where we should be on this earth.
I was so happy to see Ophelia make a brief appearance at the end of this book and that the Memory House continues to provide rest for the weary and many new Memories.
The writing is terrific and every emotion is felt as the story goes on.
I can't wait to see what Bette Lee does next.

Since the beginning of time The Keeper of the Scale has kept happiness balanced against sorrow for the lives under his protection. But even the Keeper has no control over the outcome of events from the intertwining silver threads linking strangers and events to one another, so there was nothing he could do to alter the consequences of a random thread.
Waking with a migraine, Jennifer Bishop wished her husband was there to take their daughter, Brooke, to school. But Drew was away working, so Jennifer called at the drugstore on the way home from school to pick up her prescription. Tom Coggan was desperate for money to pay off a drug debt and with nothing to lose he set out to rob a liquor store. Although he had a gun, Tom kept telling himself there would be no violence. He wasn’t about to get caught out like his twin, Eddie, who was in jail for that very thing. The liquor store was closed when Tom reached it but on the way back he saw the drugstore. Those random threads spelled tragedy and between them, the Coggan brothers made sure the Bishop family would never be the same again.
This is another great addition to the Memory House series. A heartfelt, poignant and captivating story of coming to terms with a devastating blow, and the resulting grief and family problems in the aftermath of the trauma. Of moving on, facing the challenges and difficult journey of working through the loss and sorrow, until new friendships and love begin to heal the heart.
The main protagonists are delightful, each with their own distinctive voice, sympathetic with substance and realism. The secondary characters are also very well drawn. I always enjoy reconnecting with characters from previous books in the series and this was no exception. Written in the author’s easy, flowing style this book was a pleasure to read.

Bette Lee Crosby writes heartwarming books about families, relationships and life in general. This book is slight different from the other books of hers that I have read. This one has a mystical component where there is a Keeper of the Scales who places rocks on each person's scales. Some rocks are for happiness, some are for sorrow, some for children, etc. People are connected to one another through the silver threads that intertwine their lives.
Jennifer Green wakes up with a headache and by the end of the day, everyone in her life has suffered a loss. Call if being at the wrong place at the wrong time or destiny, characters lives in this book are changed forever.
Trying not to give away the plot, I can say that we see Drew and his daughter Brook attempting to navigate their lives. Through, a desire to move and a promotion/change in work situation, Drew and Brook move and come to stay at Memory House. Both are reading for healing and new beginnings.
Elizabeth also comes to Memory House and is in need or healing and a chance to begin a new life as well. Brooke and Elizabeth meet and instantly they form a sweet friendship. Drew hears about Miss Elizabeth but keeps missing chances to meet his daughter's friend. Finally they meet on their own but let Brook think she has introduced them.
This book deals with tragedy, loss, family and second chances. It does has some mysticism and at heart feels like a romance novel. I found the romance to be a little rushed at the end. That would be my only complaint about the book. This Author does not go into graphic details in her books which make her appeal to a broader reader base IMO. Her romances are light and sweet. She writes characters that are likable, relatable and down to earth.
Overall, this is a heartwarming book about love, loss, tragedy, hope, family and second chances.

Jennifer Green, a young mother and wife, was shot and killed in a botched robbery. It happened when she stopped by the pharmacy. A simple action with tragic consequences. As her husband and little girl try and pick up the shattered pieces of their life and move forward, they find guilt and grief are their constant companion. How do you go on when your strength is gone? Bette Lee Crosby shows us how Drew Bishop and Brooke struggle to cope. It broke my heart to see how life can change in a minute. Drew tries to be both mother and father while working. He's exhausted physically and emotionally. Brooke is no longer a happy outgoing child. He can't be out of her sight. She's withdrawn and has nightmares. Will they ever find love and happiness in the future? When they unexpectedly arrive at Memory House and meet Annie, they find the comfort that they need to start their journey to a new life. I love coming to this place where love and support help those in need. The idea that safety and comfort can be found here makes me feel good. I love the writing of Bette Lee Crosby. Her stories always touch my heart. Silver Threads is no exception.

This wasn't quite what I was expecting, I thought it would be more 'magical' for some reason, but nevertheless it was a really compelling read, my first of this author's and first of the Memory House series.
It was mainly about Drew and his young daughter Brooke and how your life can be going along with hardly a care in the world when something horrible happens to completely change your way of life. At the time it definitely doesn't feel as if anything will ever go right again, but as they say time is a healer and eventually their lives completely changed course because of this one event.
I really enjoyed the first part of the book and it certainly kept me on the edge of my seat, it kind of lost a little bit of interest in the middle for me when it got quite depressing and sad and you felt so sorry for them thinking things would never get back to 'normal', but the last third was my favourite once they'd got to 'Memory House B&B' and things lightened up again. I loved all the people in Burnsville and was so happy that they'd found a new life after all the tragedy.

We all have our favorite "must read" authors and Bette Lee Crosby is one of mine. I don't remember how I discovered her books, but am so glad that I did. She writes memorable books that do not ever disappoint.
Silver Threads is book 5 in the Memory House Collection and it is another magical story. The writing is so beautifully worded that you will feel as if someone is actually speaking to you, telling you their story. The author is truly gifted and you will fall in love with her style of writing as well as her stories! All is not perfect in the lives of her characters. They, like us, will suffer devastating losses, discover true love when least expected, treasure happy memories, look to the future, and experience pure joy and happiness. That is what makes Bette Lee Crosby's books special!

Cover love!! Isn't this cover just gorgeous? And then, oh my gosh! How can Bette's books just keep getting better and better? I absolutely love her Memory House series because of the way she makes even the smallest memories seem magical.
Silver Threads encompasses some of those magical memories while it also has the mystery of the scale of life. I love the idea of a Keeper of the Scale who watches over us and helps to balance our lives while connecting us to those who are supposed to be in our lives, with fine pieces of silver thread. What an interesting and beautiful thought.
As always is the case with Bette's books, Silver Threads is another beautifully written story, full of elegant prose and wonderful words of wisdom.

Another great Memory House story! Silver Threads is book 5 in the Memory House series. And what a awesome story. I so love the characters in this series. Very well written. The Keeper of the Scale has his work cut out for him. Jennifer has a lot of stones along side her scale. One was a pale blush color which would go on her scale day she marries Drew. Things happen in her life on the way not always good some sorrow . But the keeper has to help her get the silver thread to Drew. But Drew has had some bad things going on in his life. Up to the keeper to keep the scale balanced and try to bring these two together. Will the silver thread find a way for the two? Great book loved it. Bette Lee Crosby is a wonderful author.

Another wonderful book in the Memory House series by Bette Lee Crosby! When I read one of her books a few year ago I was delighted by her
story and style of writing. Since then I've read all of her books and am always looking forward to her newest release. I believe that if you try one of her books that you'll be hooked just like I was. This one was given to me as an advanced reading copy by the author for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Even though this story has a tragedy in the beginning, we get to see how a family copes with and comes to terms with it. Her characters are easy to like, at least most of them. Keep a box of tissues close at hand for an emotional roller coaster ride, but happiness does win out in the end.

I just love Bette Lee Crosby's work. She is one fantastic author. Ms. Crosby's made the Memory House series one of my favorite series ever. I look forward to each and every one of her books. In Silver Threads I think my favorite character is the Keeper of the Scales. The Keeper has to keep the balance in life even if it has to end tragically. In the end it all seems to balance out for each character that was brought to life in this book. Even meeting previous Memory House characters like Annie helped Drew and Brooke adjust to a new home and started to help them heal. I couldn't put down this book until the wee hours of the morning. I hope you enjoy Silver Threads as much as I did. So go pick up a copy today!

Another great memory house book! Bette Crosby write stories that tugs on your emotions. Some parts of this book had me in tears, some I laughed and some I ahhed over how sweet it was. This is a story about learning to appreciate the good because you have experience the deep pain of lose. Drew Bishop loved his wife Jennifer but he never really appreciated her until he lost her in a tragic accident. He is lost in his pain and has to pull him self out to help his daughter work through hers. As the family is slowing trying to piece their life back together they are hit with another blow. Drew and Brooke move to a new town to leave the bad memories behind. This is where they are introduced to the memory house and their healing really begins. I highly recommend this book!
