Margot Anand is a French author, teacher, seminar leader and public speaker. She has written numerous books including The Art of Sexual Ecstasy; The Art of Everyday Ecstasy; and The Art of Sexual Magic.
Margot (or "Margo") Anand (Sanskrit "Ananda"=Bliss) received her degree from the Sorbonne in Paris. She began her writing career as a journalist covering the American pop culture scene for French magazines, after which she retreated from public life for an extended period to study Tantra and related disciplines. Having visited the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh ashram in Pune in the late 1970s and begun to teach tantra there, she subsequently became notable as one of the first teachers to introduce Tantra and Neotantra to a broad public in Europe and America, and has been the subject of numerous articles and interviews. She designed a practice called "SkyDancing Tantra" that is promoted as a tantric practice. Institutes teaching her methods exist in England, France, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and the United States.

This incredibly shallow book has little to do with learning about tantra and mostly to do with a very lusty woman longing for sex over and over. The author starts in her teens and never seems to stop wanting to have sex with men, claiming she "falls in love" with them often within a few hours or seconds of meeting them! She details some of her sexual experiences here, supposedly in the name of teaching others about sexual spirituality, but there's very little sacred in the book. The irony is that she claims in the book that tantra is 90% spiritual and 10% physical--but the book is the opposite of that.

Anand (not her real name) I guess is known as a teacher and trainer of those looking for sensual connections that are deeper than just physical (she claims to be the founder of modern tantra in the West but nothing here indicates she should be proud of that). The book shows that she is almost all about the physical. She doesn't mention a person in the book without describing them in great physical detail, including the way they dress or wear makeup or cut their hair, and it underlines how shallow the author is.

She is attracted to pretty much every man mentioned, including her "spiritual leaders," then gets angry when they act physical toward her. It comes across as very anti-male because she blames men for her own problems. She's very much a hypocrite, particularly when it comes to the men she partnered with. She's intentionally vague about who she married or specific timelines, but in every case she finds one major thing wrong with a man, though often she plants the seeds of the problem herself.

So she goes on an LSD trip, where she can't recall most specifics, but feels she was screwed by the spiritual leader that was guiding her. She eventually calls it rape but does nothing about it and fails to admit that she could have started the sexual session during her mind-blown acid trip. Then a longtime partner is given permission to do anything he wants with her physically, and as part of the play he starts spanking her hard. She eventually calls it sexual abuse but fails to acknowledge that he was just doing what he thought she gave him permission to do.

The author is one really messed-up woman and shouldn't be leading anything. The story of her teaching her first tantra seminar reveals a real lapse in judgment and she herself could be blamed for causing the abuse and rape of others.

Worst is Chapter Eight--the one she proclaims as the greatest in the book--entitled "The Guru Between My Legs." It's basically her going nude in front of a large group of people so her male lover can cause her to have an angry orgasm for others to copy. And her lover is not her partner--at one point she has sex with two guys at the same time and ends up keeping them both for awhile. It's truly bizarre.

This is not the book to read if you want to know anything about tantra. It's confusing, illogical, overly emotional, and in many ways disgusting human behavior in the name of freedom. It is also offensive in many spots, and she feels the need to repeatedly condemn Western morality and Christianity. She claims all her "mad life" has been devoted to her "mission to heal sexual ignorance." Instead it reads like she's just incredibly horny and never really finds fulfillment in all the men she gives her body to. She needs a lot of true healing.

I originally bought this book looking for ways to enhance my sex life with my wife. Little did I know that I was going to be led on an adventure that offered so much more! Margot has opened my eyes to the joy and beauty of humanity. I recommend this book to any and everyone wanting to live life to the fullest while accompanying a fascinating woman through an epic journey!

A typical guru-book, in the negative sense of the word. Every tenth page she says something that makes sense and is worthwhile indeed. All the other pages contain utter bullshit. Guru's entice their followers with some serious good insights and mislead them further with stories that totally go off the rails. Margot Anand is no exception.

When I first read the book, I wanted to throw it across the room because some of the stories were getting me unbelievably upset. I felt that many of the men in her stories had from my perspective taken advantage of her on one level of another. However, I trust my intuition and something told me to read it all the way through.

I found myself un-layering, I was being stripped of sharp pain and watching it transform into a difference in perspective. I cracked into a deeper softness, and released my perspective, and then I began to deeply listen and resonate. What I realized was that it took incredible vulnerability to create this and to show a deep personal life lesson transform into soulful wisdom. I’ve seen that happen within myself before, but to be walked through the emotions of that space through the book, was an unsettling feeling that broke into a deeper inner freedom.

The brilliance of this book is that is sneakily walks you through that same language of inner self doubt and all the fumbles that come with it, into that crone like wisdom and security that comes after facing such life tests in its journey to see and embody itself.

A Very Wise and Profound Book

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It brought me back to my own ways of discovering Tantra, surreptitiously, almost accidentally, as I was making love. It offered the perspective of a female trailblazer in the neo Tantra movement, very well aware of gender differences while also open, experimental, brave and loving. A sense of how to affirm her path and identity in relation to an influential teacher like Osho. And a truly touching and sincere perspective on the shadows of Tantra, including male teachers fascination with young female participants and the often unfulfilled longing for some form of stability, settledness, children and family that a number of women in leadership positions experience. A beautiful book, well written, knowledgeable, insightful and fun. serena.anderlini@gmail.com

This memoir was interesting. I will admit that there are many highlighted passages on my Kindle. Some things were very insightful, inspiring, or head-scratching curious. There's definitely a lot in here to spark a conversation between intimate partners.

I also think while the focus is mostly about her sexual journey from a young inexperienced woman to a well recognized tantric sex leader, there was a lot of philosophical content in here as well.

Son partage d'expériences est intéressant.
Certaines raisonnent plus que d'autres. Certaines sont vraiment perchées mais posent la question de la sexualité contrainte par les normes de la société.

- chap 1 : etre presente pdt l'acte
