Isadora Brown loves all things dark, dangerous, and deadly. Things that go bump in the night and send shivers down backs are things she adores. She loves (and writes) sexy, forbidden romance, usually with some bite and a hint of magic. She is the author of The Somerset Series, The Dark Paradise Trilogy, The Stranger Trilogy, and The Neverland Trilogy.
Before I get too deep into this review, I wish to make a quick point. This is one of those cases whereby I’ve rounded my rating up. It isn’t quite a full four stars, yet had I given it three it would have been an injustice. All in all, it was a bit over the three-point-five rounding down threshold. A very strong three, but not quite a full four.
As always, Heather C. Myers has created a wonderful love story. I’ve said this before, for one of her other books, but I’ll say it again. Heather C. Myers has a way of taking themes that have been done before, ideas that are already out there, and giving you something fresh. She puts her own spin on tales, meaning you get a classic notion with something very much unique to her. With this one, it’s a paranormal tale. It’s a tale of falling in love with a ghost. Just what can you do when you’re the only one who can see someone, the only one who can hear someone, the only one who can feel someone?
I’ll admit, the main reason it isn’t quite a full four star rating is due to the ghostly element of the tale. I know that Heather C. Myers can write the supernatural aspect of her stories. I’ve seen it done wonderful in some of her other tales, where she truly brings the supernatural creatures to life. For me, however, in this one, she fell a bit short. I feel as though the ghost aspect was underdeveloped, that it could have been explained better. I feel as though there were some inconsistencies in the way things were working, in the rules applied to the ghost. It felt, at points, as though the rules changed in regards to what was convenient for the scene. Due to this, I would have liked something set, some guidelines, as to how things were to work out.
Despite this, it was a fun tale. Whenever I noticed something that left me questioning the rules of the ghostly world, I forced myself to pay extra attention to the story. It was an interesting one, with all the amusement and drama you can expect from a Heather C. Myers story. As always she sets the romantic scene, allowing us to watch as our characters come to the realisation we’re waiting for. Truthfully, I’d expected the ending to be different. I knew what to expect in terms of the romantic ending, but I wasn’t sure how the specifics of it would play out. I knew certain things would come to light, that certain information would be given, but the actual act of how the two came to be… I was expecting something different. Whether this is a good or bad thing, I cannot say for sure. Technically, it’s not bad; I’d just convinced myself that something else would play out. Nevertheless, I was content with the ending.
Overall, it was another great Heather C. Myers read.
As a final note, I would like to thank the author for allowing me to advance read this one in exchange for a review.
Very crazy the things we women do for men. Lara was just willfully ignorant to Brett's ways. She knew all along, it just took Mike to show her the truth.
She wasn't supposed to see him, hear him, or feel him because he was dead - a ghost. She wasn't supposed to fall in love with him because she was engaged.
Lara Darling is not a fan of New York. She only moved out to the big city because her fiance works on Wall Street and she's a romantic at heart. Plus, with dreams of working for a big-time book publisher as an editor, she wants to take advantage of her new residence.
It all goes awry when she sees a ghost during a job interview.
Well, she doesn't know he's a ghost at the time.
Mike Langdon looks, sounds, and feels like a typical thirty-something male. He's cute, too. Really cute.
It doesn't help that Lara finds out that she and her fiance are living in Mike's house and that Mike can pop up whenever he wants. Falling Over You has a different set-up from any other book I've read before... it's different and it's intriguing. I found that I couldn't wait to finish this book and enjoyed the myself along the ride.
I really enjoyed the fleshing out of Mike's character. He was/is someone with many quirks, high intelligence, and a strong moral character. The only downside to him is he's a ghost! Reading how Lara decides to involve him in her life and herself into his afterlife was thought provoking. The story was unique in how they relate to one another and how they form their relationship.
This book is enjoyable and makes the reader think.
My thanks to the author for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story has an interesting point of view. Lara is the only one who can see, hear, and touch Mike. Mike died seven years ago. Engaged to another, Lara finds herself falling in love with a ghost. She enjoys their time together until he criticizes her fiance. As she struggles with her changing feelings, trying to find work, and trying to figure out what makes her happy, Mike shows her how she should be treated, that her ideas and dreams matter, that love can exist in more than one way. I found Lara a little wishy washy but who is to say I would not be also if faced with the same choices.
I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Uberreader’s review of Falling Over You by Heather C. Myers This story about a young woman who can see a person who has for some reason has chosen not to pass on into the afterlife. It is moving and evocative. She starts to fall in love with a ghost all the while engaged to a living breathing man. This story illustrates the pitfalls of trying to love two men at the same time, even if one is a ghost. I enjoyed the steps she had to take to not seem crazy to others while carrying on conversations with a person no one else can see. I want to thank Heather C. Myers for the free ARC she provided for an honest and unbiased review.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. At first I thought that our female lead was in the same predicament ad our male lead. But I kept reading and loved every second of it. I felt bad for our lead female when she started to realize that her fiancé is really not the one for her. She had moved across the country for him and once she met Mike and started to question her relationship it all fell apart. This is definitely an HEA! Great read.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. This is an amazing story of how love can come to you in ways you could never expect. The main character Lara seems to be the only person who can see Mike who is a ghost. Even though she is engaged she falls in love with Mike as he does with her. A very original story which pulls at the heart strings and reminds us that when you have love you can do anything.
This was a different kind of storyline, that I have ever read. I was actually thinking it would be scary, but it is not. I really enjoyed reading it. Sad in some spots you almost want to cry. The story has great humor and it also makes you want slap Lara, because is belittle herself. But is very sassy and strong will, but she just has to stand up to herself against her fiance.
Was short and sweet, but I was skimming a lot. The last half of the book was skimming over some issues and the passage of time would skip forward a lot at the end. It is a great story line though with lots of potential.
3.5. it was cute, likeable characters. Could have been so much better if the author dug deeper with details like what happened in the first place, how certain things were possible, etc.
