Mathe Winters knew his coven’s vampire second was bringing several dingo shifters home to their ranch. He didn’t expect one to be his beloved. Still, there’s something about the way Julian looks at him, with a gaze so full of fear and hope. He finds himself instantly smitten. Wanting to show the dingo shifter the wonders of his cattle ranch home, Mathe runs into a snag. While Julian had met Angus shifters, it doesn’t prepare him for the reality of dealing with the non-shifter variety. He gets too close to the wrong animal and ends up injured. Can Mathe earn Julian’s forgiveness—and win his trust—so he can show his dingo how to play safely in his new home?
Note: Although this is the tenth book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.
Mathe is a vampire foreman of the dude ranch, part of the inner circle of the coven that owns and operates the ranch. Greg is a wrangler and human donor who has set his sights on Mathe. He also is a lazy SOB that will try to use his body/blood to get his way. Mathe gets pretty pissed off, though, when Greg’s carelessness results in an injury to a guest. He needs to be punished.
But before Mathe can dish out the punishment, Gypsum, the coven Second, returns with three new dingo shifter brothers who are moving to the ranch. And, lo and behold, Julian, the youngest of brothers, is his Beloved! But he’s young and inexperienced and comes with a very protective older brother. Luckily Gypsum and Master Jaymes help ease the situation, and Julian decides to move in with Mathe immediately.
But on a visit to the barn, and a very unwelcome interruption from Greg, Julian becomes frightened. He shifts and is injured. Mathe feels horrible—guilty and sick that his Beloved has been hurt! Julian’s brothers aren’t too happy either. And Greg is totally pissed off at being pushed aside. It’s quite a first day for Julian!
Luckily, as a shifter, Julian heals pretty quickly. But he’s afraid of the cattle on the ranch since his injury. Even though he is fascinated by the calves, he’s afraid to get anywhere near them because of the heifer who injured him. Mathe has to figure out how to get Julian over his fear. And he does it in the cutest way possible!
This was an adorable story. Julian is so cute and naïve, and Mathe is so protective. The little calves are a fun addition to the creatures in this series, and Julian is a gentle lover of animals who is happy to see them. Just a very sweet and enjoyable story in this series that keeps me coming back for more.
It was nice to see Julian (one of three dingo brothers) finds his mate when he moved to the vampire ranch with his brothers. Mathe was a very patient, thoughtful vampire, so I really liked their relationship. Julian was a sweetheart, and I was so relieved that he didn't reject Mathe, or cause him to chase after him through most of the book. That made the story so much better, since we were then able to read about them actually working on their relationship. I also liked how they didn't have to fight danger at every turn. Paranormals deserve a break sometimes too. =)
Eine im Großen und Ganzen eine eher unaufgeregt Geschichte. Liest sich locker leicht, mit expliziten Zugaben. Schön für zwischendurch, kurz und knackig 😉

The Loving Nip series takes place on a ranch with Master Jaymes. Lucius, Pascal and Julian are some of the dingoes rescued by Kai and his mate. Lucius is mated to an enforcer of Jaymes and so the brothers are moving to the ranch. All caught up?
This was a short, sweet almost completely angst free story. From the moment they meet through some accidents on the ranch the two are pretty happy they found one another and it’s just a matter of timing for them to fall in love.
One of the things I love about these quick stories is that they remind me of a snack break. They are always sweet, very predictable, not terribly filling but a nice diversion for an hour or so.
I liked this but nothing about it stood out as either tremendously good (or bad!).
No sooner had the dingo brothers arrived at the ranch they were greeted by the Forman Mathe and Julian has a mate. Pascal is the only brother not mated. They settle into learning ranch life.
If you enjoy reading about a sweet shifter who has suffered abuse in the past meeting his mate and getting to enjoy sexy times and his HEA this one is for you.
Julian stole my heart in this one, so sweet and kind. Mathe was the strong one, and I love how he was willing to do whatever he could to make his mate happy. There wasn't a lot of action in this one, but story line grabbed my attention from the beginning and I couldn't put the book down.
I under stand why Ms.Richards had to write this story, but it still feels like a place holder.
NOTHING happens, except one of the rescued dingo brothers, Julius, meets his mate Mathe when he arrives at Master Jaymes' ranch.
There is nothing to bring the series forward. Ok, there is not much of an overall plot to the series in the first place, but this is ridiculously weak.
