Imagine a city with drones on each street, monitoring your every move. No crime goes unpunished. No criminal can escape. No place to hide. No one is ever alone. I live in the safest city in the world... until I tried to leave it.

had won an audio copy of Drone World using Librarthing.com, not sure which sea of the giveaways I received it from author or member.
I honestly couldn’t remember entering for it but I am oh so pleased I won.
A world where Drones follow your every move. This post apocalyptic story was not only intrusive into the lives of our characters but brilliantly crafted in creating a world of possibilities.
I easily finished this audiobook in two days. I was left pondering the plot line as the story advanced and let out a few verbal OMG through the unveiling of the most diabolical of plot twist.
My only downfall is that while the stir progressed and had the best twisty twist I was not entirely happy with the ending. It was good but the brief look of what I saw of book two it just didn’t seem as appealing as Drone World.
The narration took some getting use to as our main character is a young female but it is narrated in a male voice (the author narrated his own work) so that did take some adjusting but by the end of the book it work, his voice really worked for the part. It gave her voice the sharpness and edge it needed. What I didn’t enjoy about the audio where the sound effects. I think this would be perfect for you teens but as for me being an adult I felt it was a juvenile touch.
I'm glad I got the chance to read this book. I couldn't imagine living in a world where drones follow every move you make and report it back the the government. Very enjoyable read.
This first book in the World Series focuses on Pene’s, a young teenage girl, quest to find the truth in a world where drones and camera follow every movement. One event triggered her desire for knowledge about places outside of her neighborhood and city. The author presents the relationships and balances between indoctrination, surveillance, crime, and freedom. There is the added element of who is really in control and why. The book was thought provoking in light of current society technological challenges between the need to know and privacy.
This started out as an interesting book, but by the time i got to the end, i lost some of the interest. It's a very interesting story. But, the main character is just plain annoying. Some of the conversation taking place between the characters felt pretty silly and then the end is somewhat anticlimactic. And then it ends with a huge twist (that part i liked).Oh and there were lots of words missing throughout the book. That can be fixed. So, not bad, but far from great as well.
