the Hiram / Giovanni scenes were super confusing

Homecoming is the end of this series and it ends with a bang.
It takes place two weeks after the end of volume 2 with Charlotte coming face to face with her grandmother. There's also a big cameo of a fan favorite character from the games. Charlotte also relives the past again as another ancestor of hers and both past and present storylines are thrilling and even emotional.
The art remains great. It was a fast-paced volume and i found it even better than the other 2. It was very engaging and suspenseful.
The ending of course leads to Assassin's Creed: Uprising, Volume 1: Common Ground so it's not truly an ending but it was a great volume.
Definitely recommended to fans of the previous volumes!

Good
Defo good one, fast, full of action. I like drawing and story line too. Charlotte is an interesting character for sure.

The bad:
-Lousy conclusion.
-Very confusing, many times you didn't know who was talking because the panels show zoom outs.
-The ancestor action wasn't good either.
-The conflict and resolution between charlotte and he grandma wasn't built just shown.

Why can't life be more like a video game? Why can't we make mistakes die, and regenerate? And eventually get to the next level? But life's not a game. — Charlotte De La Cruz
Volume 3 picks up 2 weeks after the end of volume 2. Charlotte and her cell are on an island own by Erudito. Erudito is in hiding from the Templars, they are in an uneasy state with the Brotherhood (for all intents and purposes.) Erudito which is currently headed by Charlotte's Leta, her grandmother. There are just the right amount of Spanish titles sprinkled throughout the text for it to make sense. The ancestor in question this time is Himan "Bloody Hiram" Stoddard in Florance, Italy 1516. He is a protege of Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Both Ezio and Michangelo make appearances. Charlotte is looking for evidence of the Consus, who appeared to Charlotte in Dorothy's body in volume one.
The plot for this volume is fast-paced with a lot happening at all times. Rapid discussions and disagreements between characters and misdirects. There is less with any antagonists. It's not a bad thing but it doesn't feel like the other two. I appreciate the art style for this series. Expressions are done well, which is needed for this volume in particular. Hiram is done well in his different personalities. I appreciate the shading work on faces. That said the colour on the island in particular just feels a bit off. As a bit of an aside, it took me until right until near the end of the book to realise who Charlotte occasionally reminded me of Faith from Mirror's Edge for reasons I don't really understand (sometimes my brain is a weird place).
Volume 3 includes not only background information on Florence and Giotto's Campanile but behind the scenes on all three volumes. It is worth noting that these Assassin's Creed graphic novels are followed by the Uprising arcs. As usual, I will add the disclaimer that I do not play the AC games due to my inability to use a controller on my pc well and my atrocious dexterity. I have watched people play quite a bit which is something I have a bizarre love for (watching people game). My appreciation for AC likely comes from adoring the idea of exploring ancestral lives or past lives.

Uhm... no. This just wasn't right. The series weren't bad, but it just ended into nothing after all that we've been served. And there were many unrealistic moments, that were too much even for Assassin's Creed (like plane crashing after being shot and everybody survives). What I loved was seeing Ezio again, so we've learned what he was doing between Revelations and Embers. That was absolutely heart-warming.
Fortunatelly this isn't absolute ending, because it leads to Uprising series (which I also read and liked, only the ending wasn't satisfying... again!!!), but for the series as a stand alone, it could be better!

Homecoming is a fine conclusion to Assassin's Creed self-titled comic book series, as well as a good setup for the sequel Assassin's Creed: Uprising. It continues the trend of the previous two issues, incorporating yet another historical setting that needed just a little more fleshing out. This time a legacy character takes the stage: Giovanni Borgia, a focal character from the long-defunct Facebook game Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, whose importance and history would be lost on those who did not play it during its very short lifetime or don't read wiki pages.

I got lost a few times following who was who and whether they were assassin, templar, or neither. Even in some of the art, it was difficult to keep track of certain characters as their image seemed to change between frames or else they looked similar to other characters. A few deaths also happened so quickly that I almost missed them (and in one case did miss it).
Just a bit chaotic and messy for my tastes. Probably better suited to stay as a video game.

The best part of this series is the artwork, especially the covers. The ending was a bit of a let-down. It seemed a little anti-climactic. It was nice to see Ezio, though. I like this series. I enjoy the storyline and how everything fits together. It seems to catch the spirit of the game pretty well

Charlotte's much more palatable in this volume. She's not as annoying - but she's still dumb. If she had just finished the scan like her grandmother told her to, but no, she always knows better. Incorrigible as ever.

It was a meh ending. I felt like the past storyline was very forced.

Interesting mix of historical fiction and modern spy/sci-fi type stuff. I never played the game, but this is a fun ride.

A confusing comic/story but at least Ezio was in it...

This was an OK story. Reading it made me wonder if they had more in mind as a continuation to this, or if it just fizzled. It wasn't bad, but it was also not super exciting.

A good comic but a quite linear one. I've enjoyed it but it took me quite a while to finish.

Mess
Again - same as the first book it is a mess. The only good thing about it is that it continues a story.

Still as confusing as the other ones. Think I finally understand what happened, however not a real ending. Just another lead up to the next series. Will need to read them to actually figure out what the heck is going on. 🤔
Charlotte apparently is still the chosen one even though she constantly undermines more experienced assassins but most of the time she's right? Yeah because storyline....🙄
However best thing, there were like 4 pages of Ezio 🤩! The true Master Assassin showing how to be a mentor. Although the two people he's training Giovanni and Hiram.... wasn't great.
As with the other collections the little history fact file at the end is really interesting 😁

4 stars for my emotional satisfaction but good God there was some plot contriveces here at hand.
For example Charlotte realises that she has potentionaly been bugged and so Florencia forces her to undergo the inspection however Kody doesnt trust Erudito and gets Charlotte out the machine and she changes her mind asap, why you ask? So the writer can make the next scene happen that's why! There are also some confusing panels that made me confused when and how we are following someone and character motivation flipflops. The past story was alright to be honest but I didn't really care to much about Giovanni and Hirams explanation as to why he is so traumatised... you have to do a bit better than that to convince me you know.
Anyway some positives, I found Charlotte more fun this time around and the passing between past and present felt more organicly this time and the False Memory segment was very well edited and paced.

Well, the series is over now, though most of these characters are going to show up in Uprising. Once again, Charlotte screws everything up by her bone-deep conviction that she knows better than experienced Assassins and Erudito members who have been doing this for a long time, and this time people die for it. And she'll never, ever be held accountable. Also, the historical story is meh at best. Sure, Ezio shows up, but only briefly. And the artist has apparently never seen the man, so he looks absolutely nothing like himself. Also, Michelangelo shows up as a supposed good friend of Ezio, in his ever actual appearance in the AC canon, which... Did Del Col get him confused with Leonardo?
