Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
Georgia Blanche Douglas Camp Johnson, better known as Georgia Douglas Johnson, was an American poet, one of the earliest African-American female playwrights, and a member of the Harlem Renaissance.
So I discovered this poet in a penguin classics collection of poetry by black poets (minor note Vol 01), and I REALLY loved her poem in that book so I was super excited to find a full collection of hers. The first couple of poems made me question if it was going to be any good and then I hit gem after gem and was very satisfied with most of the remaining poems. Its not gettting a full five stars because of the few in the beggining that were pretty mid and the ones at the end that were all dedicated to people of the time, which I like the idea of that, but ended up not fully caring about most of the actually poems themselves in that section.
The middle was filled with gold, and I would recommend this to poetry lovers.
