The saga continues! Desert scavenger Rey and ex-stormtrooper Finn are being pursued by the evil First Order! But can they escape Jakku in an old "hunk of junk" YT-1300 freighter? And what new threats will they find in a galaxy far, far away?
Chuck Wendig is a novelist, a screenwriter, and a freelance penmonkey. He has contributed over two million words to the roleplaying game industry, and was the developer of the popular Hunter: The Vigil game line (White Wolf Game Studios / CCP).
He, along with writing partner Lance Weiler, is a fellow of the Sundance Film Festival Screenwriter's Lab (2010). Their short film, Pandemic, will show at the Sundance Film Festival 2011, and their feature film HiM is in development with producer Ted Hope.
Chuck's novel Double Dead will be out in November, 2011.
He's written too much. He should probably stop. Give him a wide berth, as he might be drunk and untrustworthy. He currently lives in the wilds of Pennsyltucky with a wonderful wife and two very stupid dogs. He is represented by Stacia Decker of the Donald Maass Literary Agency.
You can find him at his website, terribleminds.com.
This is getting ridiculous .. I was really hoping for something new, a new info I don't know or at least a perfect draw to admire but No. Have to wait for another issue when Rey, Finn, and Han will arrive at Takodana
Read like a lite Cliff notes graphic version of the movie. Of which, by the way, I saw and good thing as I think some of the incidents in this story seem to come out of the blue.
It's honestly moving so fast, it's hard for me to justify giving this anything higher than 2 stars. If this is what to expect for the remaining comics of this series, this is going to be a pretty quick/light read-through. Which I am okay with.
At this point you are better off just re-watching TFA to experience the full story versus getting the speed run delivery here. But... maybe that is their 'Adaptation'... using Force Speed to get through this content.
STAR WARS- THE FORCE AWAKENS, Adaptation. Awesome reproduction of the film. . #2- The Graveyard of Giants. Once the site of a massive battle between The Republic and the Galactic Empire. A battle the Empire LOST. And now scavengers pick the bones of old, dead starships.
Still bland with no real value added. The art is decent and can hold its own, but everything feels like it could've been stills from the movie instead, with the exact same script. Chuck Wendig has about 3 yellow boxes of phrases for expositions this time, halfway through, which are utterly redundant. How he is considered the author when there is really nothing of his own in this series so far is beyond me.
Watch the movie or read the novelizations. Even The Force Awakens—Rey's Story had more added content and insights in the characters and would serve you better than reading 6 bland issues of this adaptation. You won't take anything new from this here, but you might from Alan Dean Foster's or Koegge's works.
