Not an ordinary book. To be fair, this is a book of very short story. But the way he captured the emotions of the central character is amazing. Every person in this story can be named with an emotion(characteristic to be precise)
review after reading it for the second time:
The story is main objective was to prove that there is no place for other characteristics in a human, when that human is not courageous. And that it is impossible for a timid human to live proper life in current society

Ravi Sastry Garu is a genius. Alpajeevi is the story of Subbayya, a common man with a huge inferiority complex. He’s afraid of everything in his life. He’s afraid of speaking out, afraid of speaking the truth. Subbayya borrows ₹500 from another man called Gavarayya upon his brother in law’s insistence. Due to his inferiority complex, Subbayya has trouble telling Gavarayya that he wouldn’t be able to repay the amount on time. What happens to Subbayya makes the rest of the story.

Ravi Sastry did a fantastic job in highlighting the fears and insecurities of a middle class man. His word play was fantastic and the character development was spot on. Would definitely love to read more of his books.

Alpajeevi is the story of Subbaiah. Subbaiah always seems to be scared, worried and fearful. This story is about the life and personality of the main character, Subbaiah, and also the changes in his attitudes towards handling various situations and circumstances.

The author Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry, also known as Ra Vi Sastri, analyses a personality that basically suffers from an inferiority complex. The reader will get an understanding of the thought process and behaviour of such a personality. Ra Vi Sastri also indicates the reasons for this particular complex in a person [a traumatic and tragic event from the past and other experiences from childhood], and also how, because of being a non-assertive and a low-confident person, the people and society treat him as an ‘insignificant’ and take undue advantage. The story also highlights that with some support, kindness and encouragement a person with an inferiority complex can gain self-confidence and a positive attitude, which can help them overcome the difficult circumstances in their lives.

Subbaiah gets into a difficult situation and finds it very hard to come out of this. During this period, he goes through severe mental turmoil and trauma. One of the important takeaways of this story is to stop saying Yes to everything and learn to say No when needed. Subbaiah learns the difficult way that it is not required to be always helpful, and sometimes it is alright to prioritise self over others. Another key point is for us to be kind to everyone and try being selfless with those who are not able to take care of themselves!

Alpajeevi is very well-written book with an engaging storyline and interesting characters. The portrayal of a personality with an inferiority complex is narrated realistically, sensitively and effectively.

This was my first proper Telugu novel to be read. As the title suggests, this is a story of a common middle class who overanalyses every detail only to delay the decision-making process. The author's style with a focus on the protagonist's inner voice enhances the level of connection with the novel. Other characters are well-developed as well and giving them a backstory makes us sympathetic to them despite their present selfish behavior. Although the story ends on an optimistic note with the protagonist deciding to take matters into his own hands, the sudden transformation seemed abrupt (for me!)
