Among the plethora of new and old professions, teaching is unique in its power of shaping the future and, no less significantly, impacting the present.

The book is informative and practical in its dealing with the reality. Even though the book is mainly about k-12 education in America, it’s easy to see similar concerns and struggles across countries.

Especially interesting is the chapter on the influence of philosophical perspectives and the importance of building a personal philosophy of education. Is there any other profession for which a personal philosophy is as important?
