Deep in the nothingness of the Sahara desert, an innovative archaeologist finds a written picture text, the first ever known from the ancient world of Egypt. Linked to many other documents and scrolls found throughout Egypt and the world, this one is different and brings to light a primitive mystery; the arrival and ‘birth’ of the very first beings that would one day be called vampires.

Prequel to Sands of Time

In this prequel to the best selling, award winning novella, Sands of Time, a most unique and exciting find is discovered. Kesi of Giza, young and new, the hybrid blood drinker from Book One had documented her life as the child of the Pet Mer, gods from the sky, worshiped and protected by Pharaoh, offered their blood by humans. But all was not perfect, and Kesi documents her struggles, fears and trials for which future generations can learn.

She may be a child of a unique race, but her struggles growing into womanhood are easily related even today as she learns of her place in a strange world, what it is to be different, coming to terms with her ever maturing body, her first love, and her need to have children—learned by catching another hybrid in the process. But success is not as effortless as she hopes and her life is thrown into a sand storm of despair as she is put to trial for deaths not of her own making and forced into a loveless marriage of convenience as punishment.

More complex than Sands of Time, The Early Scrolls draws the reader deep into Kesi’s life, purpose and future motives. Get to know the Pet Mer and their role in history.

This is the second book that I won in the package of four books in this series. It is also book two in this series. I enjoyed reading it. It had a good story to it. I find the author has a good imagination. I look forward to the next two books in this series.

This book answers questions I had after reading book one. The writing is superb... Kesi starts off young and learning about boys (human boys in this case) and about her place in life. As she grows and matures, so does the writing style. So real you would think these scrolls once existed for real. Hmm, did they? An EXCELLENT read for anyone, whether or not you like vampires.

Outstanding read!

I gave this book a five star rating because it is worth it! Christine Church has done an amazing job! She managed to again, (book 2 in the Sands of Time series) to tell a vampire story from a completely different point of view. She uses the English language as no other author I have read. Her story lines never blur or have to circle back to the original thought process. The author keeps the story clean and without graphic situations to the point that teens as well as adults will enjoy it. Please continue to put forth these wonderful books Christine! They are excellent!

This was in one of those bins in the front of the library where the books are free. This book should remain free as it would be crime to spend money on it.
The protagonist is a self loathing alien god. Her family is part of the SKY PEOPLE that landed in Egypt. For information they share to the pharaoh they are allowed to feed on the people. Omg, they are vampires! Read this book in one afternoon that I will never get back. If you want to save some time just watch any B rated horror movie made in the fifty’s.

My second read from author Christine Church. I got the fate of the True Vampires #1 back at the beginning of December and when I saw Blood Moon was coming out figured I better get it read. I went out & bought The Early Scrolls for the same reason. An interesting trip through ancient Egypt and more. Well-written, with good character development, an interesting twist on the vampire theme. I look forward to the next book, Blood Moon.

Christine is a good author and I'll read more probably. But, I'm not paying $3.00 for 74 pages (#3).
In #2, Kesi is on the lam. Even though she is becoming a monster I still like her.

This is an interesting story that shows vampires through a different point of view. The heroine of this novella comes to terms with who she is. She discovers with horror and despair that she can burn under the sun, that she can command people's feelings and they might not truly love her, that she cannot have children and has to marry a man with warts to fit the family's expectations. The tale explains how vampires, inside their own world, can be chained to conventions and hierarchy. This story is summarized and it is a series of entries in a journal. Despite being telling, the story will hook you and will not let go. Much more than a love story as it first appears, it is the story of an unusual coming of age. Mesmerizing.
