Forbidden love is the hardest to forget...
Blake “Murphy” O'Callaghan, Road Captain of the Lost Kings MC, has the world by the balls. Money. Women. The wide-open road. It’s all his, everything he wants…except the one girl he loves, the one girl who’s off limits. His best friend’s little sister, Heidi.

Abandoned by her mother when she was only eight, Heidi Whelan’s familiar with heartbreak. Especially the heartbreak of falling in love with her big brother’s best friend. When Murphy pushed her away, it broke her heart. Now, on her eighteenth birthday, he claims he loves her? Growing up around the Lost Kings MC, Heidi’s witnessed his manwhoring ways. He’ll never give that up for her. Besides, he’s too late: Heidi’s in love with her high-school boyfriend Axel.

Axel Ryan loves two things—motorcycles and Heidi. He signed up to be a prospect for the Lost Kings MC because it seemed like a fun way to get closer to her. Now that he’s gotten a taste of MC life, he’s not so sure this is where he belongs. He’s confident Heidi shares his dreams for the future, so even if he chooses another road, their relationship will survive the detour.

With more than miles between them, will the deceptions they’ve lived with for so long be too much to overcome? Can Murphy convince Heidi that the hard roads they’ve traveled will lead to the most beautiful destination of all, or is he destined to ride the open road alone?

The Lost Kings series is made up of 13 full length books (soon to be 14 this month) and, up until now, I had read every single one of them. Except this one. At the time I was originally making my way through the series, I simply had no desire to read this book when I got to it.

I usually LOVE books where the MCs have been in love since they were children (or when at least one of them was a child or a lot younger) and typically this book would be totally in my wheelhouse.

However.

I straight up just don't like Heidi. And I never have. I think she is a huge brat and and I just can't stand to be on the same page as her. In every book she gets talked about like she's the club princess...and I just never saw her that way. Instead, I always viewed her as someone raised on the periphery of the club who thought she belonged more than she actually did. Harsh, I know; but, as I said, I just don't like her.

She's always been a c$*t to Trinity and Trinity and Wrath are my favorite couple - followed closely, of course, by Rock and Hope - but still, Trinity and Wrath are my ride or die for this series and I adore them. So I didn't like that (in earlier books) Heidi always acted like a spoiled brat and treated Trinity with such disdain just because she was jealous of her. I also didn't like how she went out and got a boyfriend and basically forced Rock into accepting him as a Prospect despite being told she was too young to be at the clubhouse. And then she would constantly go off with Murphy and expect the boyfriend to be okay with it? Just tacky.

And that's how I felt about her before this book.

Add to that the fact that, outside of a few exceptions, I loathe love triangles or anything even resembling them, and I just had no interest in picking this up. So I didn't. And continued on through the series just fine.

Recently, however, my OCD kicked in and made me feel like I should force myself to go back and read this. Also, I have come to tolerate Heidi more as the series progressed in the books after this one and thought maybe I was being unfair to her by not giving her a chance to redeem herself in her own book.

And while I can say I don't necessarily regret reading this...I can also say that this book was pretty much exactly what I expected and I wouldn't have been missing out on anything if I hadn't ever read it either.

***Spoilers Ahead***

Heidi acts like Heidi, makes dumb Heidi decisions, and gets treated like the erroneous club princess she thinks she is. Murphy acts disgusting and bangs his way through all the ladies right up until Heidi's 18th birthday. And Axel's character is suddenly turned into an emotionally abusive asshole who wants nothing to do with the club (and apparently never did, conveniently) so the reader can not feel bad when he also conveniently dies and Heidi immediately moves on with Murphy.

I liked Axel before this book - and I still do actually. I love AJL, but I feel like he was demonized and then killed off so Lake could avoid actually having to write her way out of a love triangle and/or make Heidi be the "bad guy" by choosing one or the other.

In fact, the whole pregnancy and Alaska plot lines of this book felt contrived and out of place and I thought it actually took away from Murphy and Heidi's story. The fact that Heidi was also so upset when she thought Axel got voted out of the club...that she would *gasp* never be a true Old Lady if she stayed with him...and the fact that this moment acted as the first time she really expressed any second thoughts about her relationship with Axel - like it wasn't really Axel (or necessarily even Murphy) that she wanted, but rather, a brother of the club...made her seem shallowly manipulative. And no better than any of the brother chasing club whores she always acted like she was so much better than.

So there's that.

In short, I feel like this book is the weakest of the series and, while I didn't love it and don't think this book is integral to the series as a whole, I am glad I read it if only to say I have read the complete collection up to this point.

"I love you. I've always loved you. We can work things out between us."

More Than Miles is the sixth book in the Lost Kings MC Series. With each book, the characters in this series continue to bloom and come to life. With each nuance and plot twist, I am drawn deeper into this MC saga. Heidi and Murphy are significant characters of the LOKI family, and the dynamics of their relationship have been playing out in the background throughout the development of the series. Now that Heidi is of age, it would seem an obvious choice for her to be with Murphy, however, now that she has been in a relationship with Axel it seems easy to keep him by her side and run away from it all! Finally, the truth will be revealed. Will it be Murphy or will it be Axel? OR will Heidi be left alone?

description
"My life feels like the hardest road I've ever traveled, and there doesn't seem to be a beautiful destination in sight."
Heidi has always had the love of her brother and the love of the Lost Kings to lift her up. Abandoned by her mother and abused by her grandmother, love has been given through the tatted arms of scruffy and rough bikers. Comfort has been delivered through the sounds of bikes and the raucous laughter of men. As Heidi has grown closer to her boyfriend Axel, it only makes sense for her to bring him into the fold and encourage him to be a prospect for the club. Her club. Her family. Turning her back on Murphy is the only way she can shield herself from the pain of rejection.
"You know how much I love you?"
Murphy has spent his life at the side of his best friend and brother. Falling in love with his best friend's little sister wasn’t quite part of the plan, and yet it happened. With the age gap being so great between them, Murphy has been waiting for the stars to align for him to claim his girl. Although he has always known that Heidi was his, he hasn’t stopped living. The life of an MC brother is full of women, sex, and a plethora of action. When the time to be with Heidi has finally arrived, Murphy must come to terms with the idea that maybe Hedi won’t be waiting with open arms. What if too much time has passed? What if too much damage has been done? Can he possibly survive without her by his side?
"She's mine and off-limits."

"Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."
Axel is young and in love. Full of passion for life and plenty of energy to explore Heidi, he is just starting to figure out who he is and what he wants from his life. Embracing the LOKI seems like the easy answer to all of his questions, and yet, something inside him is pulling him in another direction. Is the love he feels for Heidi the answer to his questions on life? Does he love her enough to pull her away from the club? Knowing that Heidi and Murphy share a deep bond that he will never be able to compete with, causes Murphy to struggle with insecurity and doubt! Will he ever be enough?
"I'm here for you, beautiful."

"It's time to focus on the road ahead of us, not behind."
Told in multiple POV, More than Miles explores each and every emotion experienced by all three main characters. As an avid reader, I have always been one to shy away from the dreaded love triangle. Who wants to escape to a place where someone will be left with a broken heart? Who wants to watch one person be left out in the cold? To make matters worse I love all three of these characters. I see Heidi as a strong young woman who is simply trying to figure out life. By her side, she has two very different men. Both contain attributes that would compliment her well. And yet we know, there can only be one. Despite my fears of a broken heart at the conclusion of this read, my desire to know who Heidi would end up with was greater than my fear of potential heartbreak, doom, and despair. The stakes are high for these characters as they strive to find happiness, experience heartbreak, fear, and joy. The spectrum of emotions is broad as each layer is revealed. The intensity was great as I read late into the night. There were moments where I found myself smiling and crying at the same time. The natural writing style kept the pacing steady throughout and the supporting characters enhanced the read with their interactions with all three main players. In addition to the romance element, the story was full of all of the other fundamental themes of the series that I LOVE including loyalty, brotherhood, passion, and of course MC action! The story arc is well developed, and we are even blessed with an Epilogue! (Thank you Ms. Lake!) If there is any doubt in your mind about reading this book, set your fears aside and jump in.

Overall, I cannot recommend More Than Miles enough. This series has quickly become one of my favorites and the beauty in this read will stay with me forever. I know you might want me to reveal the man that Heidi ends up with, but I would never want to ruin the journey for you. I will reveal that my favorite element of this read is not that Heidi finally finds her love but instead Heidi finally finds the peace and healing that she so badly deserves. This is a simply stunning read from the first page turn to the very last. My only complaint is that I have to wait to read more of the series because now I am current with the series. No doubt more greatness is on the horizon for the characters of the LOKI. I will be waiting to experience every single moment of it!

More Than Miles can be read as a standalone or first in the series (although, obviously, it's better if you read them all in order, especially Three Kings, One Night (Lost Kings MC, #2.5) by Autumn Jones Lake for the story with Murphy, Heidi, and Axel.

Because I enjoyed Rock & Hope I challenged myself to read this to see how the author could possibly turn around my disgust & repulsion of Murphy & his STD riddled ass (or it should be), well I just finished it & at this point I'll say this.

Heidi ended up with who she deserved in the end. I came to despise her, she was pathetic. Those two completely deserved each other. I disliked both of them intensely!

And if I ever saw them walking towards me on the street.....I would cross the street to avoid any contact with them!

This series started out as a fresher take on your standard MC story, it had more heart, more of a love story in it rather than just dirtbags fucking around on their women, now it's just become your run of the mill trashy MC story. Asshole guys who fuckaround & get away with it completely with a simple "whoops, sorry I may have fucked the whole female population for years but I only ever wanted you baby so now you just forget every bimbo you saw me bang night after night" vomit. And brainless doormat women who always forgive the unforgivable.

Like in all your trashy MC stories, everything was conveniently glossed over & the heroine becomes more & more of a doormat.

Completely DISGUSTED that Heidi apologized to that Trinity, fuck off!! I'd never give that one the time of day let alone apologize after the fuckfest she witness between her & Murphy, give me a fucking a break!!!!! Doormat Heidi much really?

In addition, I'm really pissed off with the way all of them always ganged up on & tried to put down Axel, no one ever gave this poor kid an inch (Heidi's many times of disloyalty to this kid in both actions & thoughts made me sick, he deserved someone much better than her) and yet Murphy who was a grown ass man got away with everything. Everyone conveniently forgets what a degenerate sleazy slutpig he was for YEARS. He was also a petty fucker who took every chance to gang up on Axel. But you know, he would never ever hurt Heidi. LIAR. LIAR. Asshole. Pissed me off no end.

Over it.

Axel:
You're a good kid. At 20 yrs young you went against your parents & others to do the honourable thing & worked your butt off to provide for your family. You may have made mistakes but you're just a KID who had alot of adult responsibilities thrust upon your shoulders & you always tried to fix your mistakes. You're the only one who comes out of this with honour, decency & faithfullness.

Beyond 5 Stunning Stars

Hey, someone slow this roller coaster down, I need to catch my breath and down some wine because THIS BOOK has left me with all kinds of feels.

I'm not giving any spoilers away. It would ruin an absolutely fabulous book and honestly you should just surrender your Kindle heart and soul to Autumn Jones Lake and let her lead you down the ROCKy (get it?) path of drama, passion, brotherhood , strong women and hot bikers that is the Lost Kings MC.

I expected great things and this author more than delivered. She consistently knocks it out of the ball park with her fantastic story telling, character development, heart stopping moments and the beautifully crafted family of bikers and their women that you feel yourself immersed in.

It is a love triangle, which I would normally hate but this is something else and it works So.Damn.Well.
The ending left me smiling. Beaming actually.

I just have to say that Rock is still the King of my Kindle heart and this story solidified that. In fact, I think it is sealed for eternity. Both he and Hope play quite a big part in the background . I loved how all the gang were included at different parts. Wrath is a close second to Rock.....just sayin' The dynamics between all the LOKI men, be they patched members or Prospects is so enjoyable to read.

If you haven't read the other books....Why not? They are awesome.....you may struggle a bit with some aspects but there is an excellent glossary at the star. This book can be read as a standalone but you get so much more and pick up all those intimate character nuances if you know the whole backstory. This book is pivotal to things to come....and I cannot wait.

.My most anticipated book of 2016 knocked me on my Kindle ass. Jaw droppingly, heart stoppingly fantastic.

Re read via audio July 2020
Still love this book so much and Lost Kings remains my favourite MC Romance series.

Re read via audible January 2022
The Lost Kings still hold my Kindle heart.

HEA? Yes and lots to come....

Absolutely love this series!!!! Autumn is an absolute genius! Murphy, Axel and Heidi were in a love triangle that was bound to explode in fireworks.
It all starts on Heidi's 18th birthday... Murphy comes to pick her up for her birthday ride on his motorcycle and things heat up from there. But then Murphy calls her Bug, a childhood nickname, and it's like throwing a cold bucket of water on her libido. She only thinks he calls her Bug to keep his distance from her because she thinks he still sees her as a kid.
Axel, Heidi's boyfriend, is a prospect for the Lost Kings MC. He's just not really into it like Heidi would like him to be. Axel and Heidi really love each other considering their young age. She opens up to him about her childhood horrors, hopes and dreams.
And then there is Murphy, Road Captain of the Lost Kings MC. He grew up around the Lost Kings MC with Heidi and Teller. Murphy sees Heidi as a kid sister until one day it all changed and then he has to keep his distance from her because he's 8-years older than her and she is Teller's sister. Murphy was a man-whore and slept with any woman, but then he proclaims his love for Heidi on her 18th birthday and says he's reformed his man-whoring ways.
There are so many twists and turns in this book. Heartache, passion and tears comprise for a very moving book. Who will she choose? Will Murphy's declaration mean anything to Heidi, will they live happily ever after or go up in flames?

I'm going to admit from the outset that I'm not usually a lover of long books. At 459 pages, More than Miles lands in the long book category for me but it absolutely did not feel like it. I devoured this book in (almost) one sitting. I thought I'd better get a few hours sleep in when I realised it had passed the 3am mark, oops, lol.

Murphy, Axel and Heidi's story needed it though. As Heidi turned 18, we knew Murphy wasn’t going to hold back anymore. We knew Heidi was with Axel though and they seemed to really love each other. We also knew though that Heidi had loved Murphy since she was 12 years old. Knowing all this, I went into the book wondering which way Autumn was going to take the story. Would Heidi move on with Axel, or would she end up with the man she’d been in love with for years? I certainly knew which guy I was rooting for.

With quite a few surprises, twists and turns thrown into this story, I have to say every single one of them worked for me. There were some really major things happen throughout this book, and a few were quite a shock, proper OMG moments. Drama, action and some very HOT sexy times were all here too, and all in all I really enjoyed it. Oh, and yes, Heidi ended up with who I wanted her to, but you’re going to have to read to find out just which man that was.

I give More than Miles 5 stars, and I can’t wait for the next one. I kinda wish it was Z’s as I’m dying to find out what’s been going on with him, but I have to wait for book 8 for his story, oh well.

"My life feels like the hardest road I've ever traveled, and there doesn't seem to be a beautiful destination in sight."

Buy it, read it and you really shouldn't need the prompt as this is another wonderfully emotive rollercoaster ride of loyalty, love and family in this MC series which I just can't get enough of. This is Murphy, Heidi and Axel's story, a love triangle of the most angst filled longing, best intentions and ill conceived plans. Heidi and Murphy have so much water under the bridge their shared troubled childhoods having brought the together as part of the MC. Yet Axel has only eyes for Heidi making her feel like she is the centre of his universe, the complete opposite to Murphy who has always kept her at arms length. Heidi has two incredibly gorgeous, worthy of her affections men vying for her heart, facing impossible choices where will the road untraveled take her? A sweet sister of the best friend, age gap, forbidden love from afar romance their story isn't an easy one with no guarantees of happily ever afters for any of them.

Death and trouble is always part of the MC and there is no shortage of tear inducing scenes. The characters all face adversity and throughout this story they grow, mature and learn from their experiences. Heidi, always too knowledgeable for her age, struggles to reconcile the little girl who feels she needs her mother love to be worthy with the strong young woman she has become. Driven by her need to not replicate her mother's mistake, always choosing rightly or wrongly to be guided by doing the honorable thing. Heidi endures. Heidi grows up fast but doesn't lose her childlike brattish behaviour that makes her so adorable. Murphy too evolves, having waited too long for the girl who owns his heart he sees the error in his ways and has to change his game plan if he ever hopes to move on. Putting his man whoring ways to bed, he focuses on being a better man and someone he is proud to be. Axel has fallen the MC brat, knowing full well Murphy has his eyes on the prize. Stepping up to face down his rival he is aware he has large shoes to fill but has the advantage of being her first in all things romantic. High school sweetheart versus childhood crush...it's an epic story with many twists and turns. I loved this story with its angst and plot twists that was totally unpredictable and kept me on the edge of needing to finish their story and screaming at them all! I felt like I was part of the MC as we catch up with Teller, who handles his baby sister growing up very well, Rock/Hope and Wrath/Trinity, as one big family. The bonds of family are clear and string with them all willing to go above and beyond for each other. It's heart warming and makes this series something special.

A five star the journey is worth the destination read.

If you're new to the Lost Kings MC series, get ready for a beautiful, angsty, rich love story. One of the best best-friend's-little-sister romances I've read. The love triangle is handled beautifully and realistically. It isn't squirm-inducing at all.

If you're already a LOKI fan, prepare to have your heart ripped out and everything you think you know about Murphy, Heidi, and Axel flipped upside down!

Murphy....oh boy. I didn't think anyone could replace Rock and Wrath as my #1 book boyfriends, but damn. He's near perfect and swoonworthy like you wouldn't believe.

It's a long road, but I think this is Autumn's best work yet and it arrives at a very beautiful destination!

This is book 6 in this series. I kinda have an issue with having to finish things regardless how much I dislike it. I only read the 3rd, 4th, and 5th book to get to this one because Heidi and Blake's relationship really interested me. And this book started off strong. The first 25% had me hooked. And then it went downhill. I forced myself through it until I almost just skipped to the end because it was that bad. The last 20% had some redemptive qualities. But the entire middle of the book was depressing, to say lightly.

I was pleased that Autumn didn't prologue the inevitable when it came to Axel leaving the club. I was like yay, let's just get to the conclusion we all know will happen without a ton of bullshit. But of course, a bunch of idiocy happens - which I blame on the author. SPOILER ... in my opinion - the entire pregnancy, marriage, Alaska, Axel's death storyline shouldn't have happened at all. And it ruined and tainted the entire Blake/Heidi relationship. AUTUMN - STOP KILLING OFF THE HUSBAND AS A COP-OUT. So fucking stupid. Axel turned into a complete ass, and he was so likable through the first books he was in, it just seemed like a lie. Autumn didn't execute this book out that well, at all. It would have been way better to end their relationship off nicely. Axel knew he didn't wanna be in the club. The club is Heidi's family. They could have just grown apart honestly and admitted it wouldn't work out and it is better this way. WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO WRITE. I better stop now before I go on even more of a rant. I had a bunch of notes that I took for my review and I don't even fucking care.

I can honestly say I am done with this series. Goodbye Hope and Rock and Wrath and Trin and Heidi and Blake and everyone else. Wish everyone the best and blah blah blah.

More Than Miles is a book that I was excited for and dreaded at the same time. Excited because the I love the LOKI universe and can't get enough of reading about the these men struggles, sacrifices and brotherhood.

I dreaded this book because of the love triangle. I simply abhor live triangles, but under Autumn Jones Lake talented hands, She presented a story of love, lose and betrayal. One that feels authentic, believable and true to the characters of Axel, Heidi and Murphy. Nothing felt false, contrived or eye roll worthy. Every interaction and situation pulls you into the struggles of these three individuals, as they navigate the minefield of life.

You will laugh, cry, cheer as these characters begin to sort out their messy lives. Autumn Jones Lake does a great job of portraying the consequences of ones action and the effect it has on those that they love. You can't make a choice without impacting others, but while some choices are irredeemable, other choices will lead you to more than you could ever hope for.

If I have to choose a word that symbolizes The Lost Kings MC it would be family. This MC is all about loyalty, support and unconditional love.
I met Heidi and Axel in the second book, Corrupting Cinderella, and their story evolved throughout the series. In More Than Miles I was very excited to find out how their relationship would progress since Axel was prospecting to be a full member of LOKI and Heidi's connection and feelings for LOKI Road Captain Blake "Murphy" O'Callaghan, whom she had known  all her life.

More Than Miles did not disappoint. I got a newfound respect for Heidi and she showed strength and maturity. I easily felt her dilemma between her love for Axel and Murphy. Both men meant so much for Heidi in so many different ways. Also Murphy surprised me and in a beautiful way. He made me swoon and I saw new sides to him as did Heidi. He also had to reevaluate himself and his life and his choices.
What happens between Heidi, Axel and Murphy has to be read but their story is full of twists and turns. I was blown away by the choices Autumn Jones Lake chose to make sure that Heidi, Axel and Murphy got their happy ending. Did Heidi get her HEA and with whom?

The other characters played a huge part of this story too since LOKI is all about family. I love Hope and Trinity even more after reading More Than Miles. They were fierce ol' ladies who had Heidi's back no matter what. The banter between the men warmed my heart. Teller, Rock, Wrath and Z added the humor and more layers were peeled off and I got to know them more.
The epilogue was fabulous and had a few surprises which hopefully will be revealed in future books.
I love LOKI and they're my favorite MC. Autumn Jones Lake keeps surprising me with her writing and storytelling. After reading the epilogue I'm ready for so much more from The Lost Kings.

I can't tell you how much I wanted to read this book, but I also dreaded it. If you're familiar with the series, you know a little bit of history. If not, go and get the first five books and read them! Kidding.

Well, half-kidding. You really should read the other books to get the feel of the characters. You'd be missing out on their evolution, especially Murphy's. But let me tell you a little bit about them. Not much, because the last thing I'd want is to spoil it for you.

Heidi, our heroine, has been head-over-heels for Murphy, one of our heroes - yes, as the blurb says, it's a sort of love triangle, hence my dread of reading it since I just don't do love triangles but hey, sometimes we have to make an exception - ever since she was a little girl. He's always been there for her, a savior along with her older brother, Teller. Everyone saw and knew of her infatuation for him, but of course Murphy always shut her down because she's several years younger, and that has kind of bothered him. Not her. Oh, Heidi, I realized, is actually a girl after my own heart.

I admit and it's no secret, I wasn't a fan of hers, while reading the previous books. She came off as a spoiled brat that had two guys wrapped around her little finger and would cause problems and heartache.

Shame on me for having so little faith in Ms. Lake because she proved me wrong, once again. What is it, the third time? I should probably stop doubting her. Come to think of it, there's no other character I disliked so, all's well.

I digress. So, Murphy turned out to be a better man than I thought. Heidi turned out to not be a brat, I actually realized she's a lot like how I was at her age. You'll see that a LOT of things go down and happen - Autumn loves torturing her characters - and a lot of times, my heart broke for her.

Their journey, Heidi, Murphy and Axel's isn't an easy one. You have to have patience with them. It's a slow burn, it takes time for them to get where they should be; for things that are meant to happen, happen. Hard road. Title is spot on. I'm not going to tell you who ends up with whom, just that you'll laugh and melt and swoon, despite the hard road Autumn took her characters on.

I absolutely love how close Wrath and Murphy got, that's all I'm saying!

I loved it. Do I highly recommend it? Yes. Do I want more? Always. 5 stars and I want to thank the author for the copy given in exchange for my honest review. My pleasure, as always.

P.S. I applaud Ms. Lake's decision of writing an epilogue because it's been one of the best I've read.

(5 stars)

This is probably the closest to New Adult in the series - Heidi is an idiot and a witch and I just don't like her at all. I don't like the hypocrisy she displays when it comes to her own messes and then judging others.

But the story overall was good and we are moving right along in the LOKI saga, so I read it and never had to have a Captain consult once. So good writing there.

Also, I have to add that I was sad Axel died, but then again it is an actual MC series and AJL is remarkably low key on the killing off characters, so probably it had to happen to keep the MC vibe flowing.

I love this series. I've been Team Murphy since day one but is that who she winds up with? I cried so many tears during this book that I think I used a whole box of tissue. Both guys get hurt in different ways, but who she finally ends up with is just beautiful. Lots of the other members of LOKI from previous books are here plus there's another wedding and one in the planning stages, oh and a baby.

I really want to give it a full five stars but holes and threads left dangling don't get. Who shot the gym? Where's Viper? Where's Lilly? Will he walk again?

My Rating:

4.5

Favorite Quotes:

He's been waiting for your birthday like a fat kid waiting for Girl Scout cookie season.

This was new and unfamiliar. Weird and awful, but her words also warmed me from the inside out.

It's not until right this second that I think about how odd it is that Rock sort of adopted us the way he did. How as a kid, I felt safer around a group of hardened bikers than with my own mother.

Your little fingerprints have been all over my heart since the day we met.

Yeah, it was your personality that made me love you but your hot bod that made me thank God we weren't actually related.

My Review:

While reading More Than Miles, I found was frequently frustrated and annoyed with the characters, as well as the author for torturing them so. The main characters, most particularly bratty Heidi and smirking Axel, made one poor choice after another and were often far from likable. Yet, I could not stop reading. The storyline kept me engaged, despite my irritation and the characters' blind stubbornness. The writing was observant, highly emotive, and angsty, with clever hits of humor and delicious steam. I am devoutly team Murphy, and his narration often squeezed my cold heart and stung my eyes. It was gratifying to see the eventual maturation of the characters as the story progressed with an ever twisting and active plot. I also enjoyed the continuation of previous storylines and catching up with the myriad of unique and quirky characters. Regardless of Ms. Lake's tendency to torment her characters, I find I am already eager for the next installment.

For a variety of reasons, I skipped some of the books in this series.

What the heck happened here!

I DID NOT LIKE THIS ONE! Okay, I can only kind of handle a manwhore, and only in a fictional context, I can not handle it when the manwhore is in love with someone off-limits especially when the "off-limits" is temporary and has an end in sight i.e when the h turns of legal age.

What we have are three jerks for H's an h. Murphy has been in love with Bug (can't remember her real name and don't care) since she was very young and vice versa. Too bad she suits up with Axel who joins the Lost King's as a prospect for the h. Who will she pick? Who cares?

These three at any given time were just gross. A big spoiler so beware...

I still really enjoy this series, and need to go back and read the others in-between. Of all the characters to go with, this is not a direction I would have chosen.

Absolutely freaking amazing!!

So, so good! I was a emotional basket case through most of it but I don't care! I'm so in love with this story. I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional, I shed quite a few tears for Heidi. At one point I was thinking can't the poor girl catch a break but all those moments are what make this book so good.

The characters are extra special. Murphy has loved his best friend Tellers sister all their lives. He would do and has done anything for her. When she falls in love with Axel he is heart broken. With two men who love her and she loves, who will she pick for her happily ever after?

Truly emotional and wonderful, the writing is absolutely fabulous and I didn't want the story to end. I love all the characters of the Lost Kings and can't wait for more.

Damn you, Ms. Lake. I think you are trying to break my heart with Murphy’s book. I cried. Yup, you read that correctly, CRIED, at his story. I don’t typically even well up during emotional reads, but this is one of the few that truly broke me.

More Than Miles is not just another story about a side character in the Lost Kings MC series. It completely unravels the way I felt about Murphy and shoves him into a lead character role and even at times, nudged Rock off of his pedestal. He’s a complicated man who fought off his urge to claim Heidi until she was legally able to be his. He fought himself and ended up landing into the beds of other women to keep his hands off Heidi. In his mind, he was being a noble gentlemen, but in hers, he was nothing, but a pussy hound. It’s honestly an accurate description of him until this book sets the record straight. Remember the line above where I called him a complicated man, yeah, he’s not. Murphy knows what he wants and his heart will break before he lets Heidi shed one tear of unhappiness. He’s a damn fine man.

While I swooned over Murphy, I felt a completely different set of feelings about Heidi. I went from angry, to sweet satisfaction out of spite, and finally landed in the pity zone. I’m just exhausted writing and thinking about it. Sure, her upbringing wasn’t great, but she had her brother, and I thought a good head on her shoulders. She knew how she felt about Murphy, but she went down a path that I think will affect her for the rest of her life. Axel was bar none my most hated character in this story and he continued his downfall in this book. Granted, he did have some fleeting moments of promise, but those were quickly doused when his inner privileged child shone through. I could never really get into Axel and Heidi as a couple because she was a biker babe through and through while he seemed like he was playing the biker role to land her. To me, it was like engine oil being added to Evian water. It just didn’t work.

All and all, I liked how Ms. Jones wrote this story. Sure, I had some frustrating moments that nearly ended up in a gif PM, but they were there for a reason. Romance isn’t also so cut and dry, and for once, this book seemed more like a realistic relationship. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time I go pick up my heart from the repair shop.

Yes! What a great new story from author Autumn Jones Lake who continues her stories in the Lost Kings MC world. More Than Miles held a lot of surprises and the romance was very sexy and steamy. The triangle between Axel ,Heidi and Murphy is one of surprises and angst yet one of the best stories I have read in a while. The journey that Heidi goes on in this book, where she determines who she is and who she wants will gripe you and make you want to alternately hug her and shake her at the same time. Both men in this story are super sexy and super alpha-yumm. My favorite type of men.
Murphy is not a new character, we have seen him in previous books and his love and feelings for Heidi have been evident. He couldn’t claim Heidi but now, in this story, he is finally ready –she isn’t young anymore and he was tired of watching her date a prospect, Axel from his club .
Heidi, our heroine, has been so in love with Murphy for years , ever since she has come to the club and met him. Murphy has been the man of her dreams and have been there for her thru thick and thin yet he has been shutting himself out of her life of late so Heidi has been acting like a brat, acting out, letting her mouth run wild. At times, in the beginning I thought she seriously needed an attitude adjustment and that I could see why Murphy wasn’t with her but then if you dig deeper, well the attitude is a protection, a shield and this girl has her own demons she is fighting. Into her life comes Axel, he is the man who gets to be her first in almost everything. Thru many twists and turns, Heidi comes to many crossroads in decisions on who she will be with after a huge surprise drops on her. Is it the right decision? Will she live to regret it?
I found myself glued to this story and watched the triangle play out and watched how these two men took control and helped Heidi come into herself, become the woman she needed to be and at the same time, this story brought back so many characters from the past books that I loved. Hope and Rock featured in this story and it was great seeing them. Heidi and Murphy really held my heart in this book and I hope to read more about them in later books. This is one of the longest books in the series but I understand why after reading this story. You will fall in love with all the MC in this story although one MC will lose his/her shine at one point. The ending had was fantastic and couldn’t have gone any better.

My rating: 4.8 stars ****

Seriously SO freaking awesome...I LOVE every one of the books in the Lost Kings MC series and it seems Ms Lake just keeps getting better and better with her storytelling with each successive book. Heartache, broken families, dysfunctional parents, murder, mayhem, death and destruction...but above all, there is love. SO much love and respect and hope for everyone's futures that I was just left reeling by the first half but smiling with a warm heart by the end.
I loved Murphy/Blake, Teller/Marcel, Axel and Heidi since I was first introduced to them in previous books and was hoping we would get their full stories. I was not disappointed in how things turned out and I'll just tell you to be prepared for the journey...it's a long and winding road. I was honored to be one of the first eyes to read this beautifully gut-churning book and I know anyone who has read the series will be so thrilled to get their hands on this one too. Bravo on a job well done and thanks a lot (insert sarcastic voice here) for making cry many times during this book.

This was always going to be a difficult read for me since I can’t stand Heidi. If I’m being honest I didn’t really want to read her book at all . But I also didn’t want to miss out on anything happening with any of the other brothers.

It’s ticked off my list now so onto the next one now.

The author has teased us with Murphy and Heidi's story from earlier books.
Its not my favourite troupe.
Best friend's little sister.
This type of troupe can usually be problematic especially with an age gap, which I think is 8 years?
Murphy was around when Heidi's was a baby and she has seen him with various girls and worse still she has heard 'stories' of his escapades, some are really bad.

Heidi's has a boyfriend, Axel she has been with him from before this book, he is a similar age group to the heroine. She is not a virgin.

When Heidi turns 18, Murphy turns up to declare his love and thinks that will cement their future together.
Heidi feels that as he has never been in a relationship and has had so many women she'd rather stick with her boyfriend as he makes her feel 'special' rather than be one of many.
Murphy doesn't actually make his true feelings clear enough at this point.

It's good reasoning and it means that half the book she stays with the boyfriend and has a life away from the club by the end of that relationship.

When Murphy does get his chance he's all about Heidi.

No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine (Murphy and Heidi) but Heidi is with her boyfriend and Murphy although initially tries to be away from women, gives up because he feels what's the point.

At some point in Heidi's time away he feels if he can't have Heidi he doesn't want anyone.
He does sort of try to have a relationship with another woman, Serena, but it doesn't work.

I did feel the author sort of changed Axel, the boyfriend's personality a bit.
I'm not sure if it was because we weren't told too much about him but it was implied he was good to Heidi and was doing well as a prospect.
He wouldn't cheat with the club girls or at the Crystal Ball when he was assigned as doorman.
I think maybe his immaturity and the pressure of their circumstances changed him a bit.

Its not my favourite troupe but the best friend's sister isn't a huge issue, everyone knows Murphy has loved Heidi for years.

Loads of club drama, secondary characters including previous couples.
Bit of a change to have other man drama other than other woman drama be more prominent in a former man whore book.

POV from Heidi, Murphy and some Axel.

HEA implied.
Epilogue implied as sometime in the future.

Breadcrumbs dropped for Heidi's brothers book and many more as the club politics and rivals storyline develops.

"His low voice vibrates through my chest, and I swear, I feel it all the way to my toes. My hands slide down the supple leather of his cut and over the familiar flannel softness of his shirt. I wrap my arms around him, holding on tight.... I breath him in."

5 more stars!!! Another great book in the series!!!

OMG this book took me on an epic ride of emotions!!! You can feel the angst between Axel, Murphy and Heidi!!! It's a constant push and pull, but I loved every second of it! I've been hooked on this series since book one and each book just keeps blowing me away!!! I don't think I could pick a favorite but this one is definitely one of the top books in the series!!!!

FULL DISCLOSURE: From the moment I met these crazy kids, I have been #TeamAxelHeidiMurphy ~ if you don’t get what that means then you’re not reading the same books I am ;) But that is some serious fantasy land right there :) (a girl can dream tho ….)

When I first wrote my review for OMGReads blog tour on release day (it somehow has disappeared from GR so I’m re-writing today), it was very different. I was REALLY vague on a lot of things because I wanted all of Autumn’s fans to experience every single moment in these journey’s as they happen with no warning what so ever. Because that’s how I experienced their journey. And it was one hell of a ride. And I’m still going to be very vague on things because again …. You really need to experience every moment as it happens.

Autumn Jones Lake is one of the most talented story tellers I have had the pleasure of experiencing. #TrueStory. I first met her (virtually) In August of 2015. I was going thru an MC phase. Everything I read was MC. And someone recommended her. I bought Slow Burn and was SO blown away I instantly PM’d her so we could chat about the book! And I continued to read book after book for two days straight. I never did do a “FULL REVIEW” of the book, but I did say this: “I am ridiculously impressed right now with not only the story itself, but the direction Autumn Jones Lake is taking with the entire Lost Kings MC club series. There's a rainbow of characters that you just can't help but invest in and root for!” THAT has held true with every single story in this series. This family of brothers AND ‘sisters’ are an inspiring and enriching group of people. They stand with each other no matter the consequences. The story arc of the Lost Kings if followed and embedded into each love story flawlessly. IMO, no, these are not stand alone books. You are doing yourself an injustice if you don’t start at the beginning and just read.

The story of Heidi and Axel and Murphy is not easy in the least. But what life journey is every really easy or painless? Their story is going to take some turns some of you are not going to like. Heidi and Axel both are VERY young, but they’re also strong. But did I say young …. So be patient. Their story is also lengthy, but what journey has Autumn ever written that isn’t lengthy and thorough. :) It is one of her best qualities as a writer.

I can honestly say that this love triangle was one of the most anticipated reads for me of 2016. I met these crazy kids seems like forever ago. I felt their story brewing from the beginning of the series. Every little morsel of information that was given to us before this book was sweet torture. I can honestly say I had ZERO clue what was going to happen until it actually happened. It was amazing!

FUTURE READERS: I hope you take my advice and start at the beginning with the Lost Kings. They are an amazing brotherhood full of love and warmth and growth and friendship and family and a huge heart for one another.
