She got her happy ending, or did she?

Isabel

It was like a fairy tale. A handsome misunderstood prince with more money than he knew what to do with and he wanted me. A plain country bookworm with a penchant for numbers. I should be happy, right? Then why couldn’t I get that cocky grin out of my head and my heart?

Jason

I made a mistake. We all make them. But this one cost me the only woman I ever loved. Now she’s with him. A monster hiding behind a pretty face and fancy words. I won’t let him have her even if it means becoming a beast myself.Anyone who knows me or has read Chasing Rabbits knows that I love fairy tales. I love making new stories up from old classics. And a lot of my fairy tales aren’t the normal variety.

Erin Bedford is one of my go to guilty pleasure authors. I know kind of what I get when I dive into one of her books and there's not one I didn't enjoy one way or another so far. I was however a little afraid, and I don't really know why, that this could be a lot of sex without much of a plot. And, if you've followed me for some time already, that's not really my thing. Mostly because I don't find sex very interesting unless I grew somehow attached to the characters.

I was however very pleasantly surprised with this book! Yes, there is a lot of sexual tension and attraction between the characters. However, there is also a plot! A quite nice and well done plot if you ask me. The way Beauty and the Beast has been transformed really worked out. It does have the Beauty and the Beast feel, Jason even has a Gaston feel, and yet it also felt original, mostly because Vincent is still very much a Beast, literally.

Although it's a very short book, I did feel like we got some sense of the personalities of these characters. A lot of that is told, but it's also shown, mostly in very subtile ways. It helps that, I think, everyone is familiar with the original tale. The key players of that original tale are easy to recognize and therefore the small additional character trait feel like they make complete characters, although we don't get to see and learn that much about these characters.

This short novella also deals with quite a few heavy themes. I have to admit that I'm not too fond of the "girl doesn't want children, but then changes her mind because she discovers she's seen it all wrong" trope, but it was only a very minor detail and didn't bother me too much in the end either.

The extra story, based on Little Red Riding Hood surprisingly enough worked for me too! Because we were already familiar with the world and everything going on, there wasn't much needed to make me care about these characters and it didn't take long before I rooted for them.

I received Hunter as an ARC in return for an honest review. I’m sorry to say that it was not at all my cup of tea, for two reasons. The first is that the main characters seemed to have little to them besides sexual appetite. I love a good bit of sex as much as anyone, but I like to see complex people involved in it. The second reason relates to the first, in that the book feels like the outline for a much longer and more involving novel. Some more back story, some feel for how and why Isobel fell out of love with James and into love with the wolf, a bit more about how werewolf society actually functions (is this one exceptionally a jerk? or all they all like that?) would all make this a more involving book. A bit more about Isobel’s relationship with her father would also help one to understand why, when apparently caught between a domestic abuser and a sex-mad stalker, she doesn’t simply up sticks and move. Minneapolis is a nice place, by all accounts.
All in all, not for me.

Isabel had no choice but to break up with Jason after it became obvious that they both wanted something different from their relationship. Isabel started working for Vincent. Vincent is a werewolf and he owns a casino. Isabel's father has a drinking and gambling problem, which got him in trouble and he lost a lot of money. Isabel is trying to solve her father's problems and is now living at Vincent's house. She thinks that this kind werewolf might be the man she needs to finally get over Jason. In a small town nothing stays hidden though. Is Vincent really the man she thinks he is?

Jason has never loved a woman like he loves Isabel. Ever since she walked out on him he has been trying to win her back. He teases her and tries to show Isabel how he regrets what happened between them. Jason has a hard time dealing with the fact that Isabel is with Vincent now, but he'll do and accept anything to get her back. Jason and Isabel are both hotheaded and have passionate opinions. Isabel looks sweet on the outside, but is strong and determined when she needs to be. Even though they're not together, their love for each other can still be felt through every word. I was hoping that they would be able to find the right path again, which would maybe lead them back into each other's arms.

Hunter is the first book in the Fairy Tale Bad Boy series. I love fairytales and happily ever afters and liked that this story addresses difficult topics as well. Hunter is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and Erin Bedford has certainly spiced her story up and has added great twists and turns. I loved Isabel and Jason as a couple straight away and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen to them. Because of the fact that Hunter is a short novel it fit perfectly into my busy everyday schedule. It's great for when you don't have a lot of time, but do want to get lost in a good story. I've read multiple books written by Erin Bedford already and I can promise you that this won't be my last.

This one just went by to quick, I realize that it's just 150 pgs and shouldn't expect a lot depth, however some 150 pg stories have surprised me, just not this one. I did like the plot but I felt no connection to the characters. I'm sure if it was a little longer, and if have contained a little more of the history I would feel so lost, It felt like I was missing part of their story. I can say this, with the little amount of reading about Izze/Belle, I knew she was going to be difficult to swallow. I didn't care for her much. I did however enjoy reading about Jason and I as I said before I did like the plot, where humans like side by side with the supernatural creatures.

Ok when I read short books of the "romantic kind", I understand that things have to progress fast. But... when someone accuses you of something and you run out and go do it within 24, nay, make that 8 hours, you are not doing yourself any favors. This piece really bothered me, even though the guy was wrong in all the wrong places. I felt set back as a woman and that's why I couldn't like the story more.

Jason realized he made a mistake with Isabel but he didn't think she would be dating a Vincent (Beast) of a man instead. Jason wants Isabel back and when she begins to question what it is she really has with Vincent is real or what she can have with Jason is the path she wants to take.

This was a bit of a surprise, the chemistry is there and has a bit of a mystery that is unraveled with Vincent. Unique twist to the story.

This is a well written paranormal re-telling of Beauty and The Beast. The author brings strong characters in Jason and Isabel and does a great job delivering an emotional romance. She builds her story with descriptive and detailed writing and had me hooked with all the twists and turns as well as the romance. The story moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

**Contains spoilers**

Hummm...I have mixed feelings about this one. I wanted to really like it, because it's a different take on what happens after "Happily Ever After" and that got me excited. However, this is a light novella, so it's far too short, and feels like it needed to be a full novel to fully understand the story. I think it would have been a much more enjoyable story if it started at the beginning where Belle and Jason broke up, the stuff with her dad, and how she met Vincent. I'm not sure if there is a prequel story to this that explains it, but that was definitely missed in the story.

The Story takes place -AFTER- Belle and her Beast are together. So, if you are wanting to read this based on the Beauty and the Beast retelling, that's not the main focus here. I liked the start of the story, and wished it showed a bit more on Belle x Vincent, but I know that's not what the author was going for. I really felt that the story needed more of a backstory, and a lot more interaction between Belle / Vincent for me to even understand what was happening with him. That part of the story left a void for me, and I have a lot of unanswered questions because of it.

Belle and Jason. I enjoyed their interaction, and thought it was cute how she didn't want to be near him, but he kept sneaking after her. His teasing her with naughty text messages sounded hot. =]

**Super spoiler below **

Overall, I did enjoy the book, and the unanswered questions I have will hopefully, be told in a prequel, sequel, short story of some kind in the future. This is also a nice starter if you are looking to try out Paranormal Romance with more adult themes. (ahem, you know... those hot, steamy moments. ;) )

I think Hunter, is a good gateway into the Fairy Tale Bad Boys series, and even though I had some questions/reservations, the ending did make me really curious. The Pirate/Neverland theme for the next one sounds like it will be rather unique and definitely got my attention.

**I received and Advanced Reader Copy from the author, in exchange for an honest & unbiased review.**

I just finished it and I have to say I couldn't put it down. This was a very good book and an interesting spin on fairytales. It's got huntsmen and werewolves. From the first page, I was hooked.
This was a short story but will worth the read! I would love to have the world building more fleshed out. There are so many things I want to know more about, like the supernatural council for one. It's an interesting world filled with fantasy mixed with modern innovation.
I received this ARC for an honest review. I definitely recommend checking this out and will look forward to the next book in the series!

I loooove fairy tale retellings but twisted fairy tales are harder; they can be disappointing when the author goes too off subject or makes up something you just don't buy.
Erin Bedford nailed it with Hunter. It was refreshing to read about something in the town golden boy's point of view. I didn't think there was any way to end up liking that character but here, you like him right away - and you also wanna slap the Beast - and Belle, too, for being with him.
I really enjoyed it; Erin uses my favourite backstory, takes liberties that ensure that it remains surprising at every turn, and creates a world I want to read more about.
Don't miss it!

True love prevails

The saying "It's the quiet ones you need watch out for" is quite true. But it could go either way, they either turn out to be the best thing that happens to you or the worst. In this case it was both, but for different people.
Isabel was the best thing that walked into, and out of, Jason's life. In my opinion they were great together. They made me laugh and love. The made sparks together.
For Isabel, Vincent was the quiet one. Does she find this out too late? Can she move past this?
If you get the chance, read this, you won't be disappointed. Erin Bedford is an exceptional author. Hunter is definitely worth the read!

3.5! Super cute quick read.

Super cute quick read with a sexy alpha hero who just wants his girl back. Set in a world where supernaturals have come out Jason has to get the love of his life away from her new werewolf fiancé. The was a safe read. He was celibate during the 9 mo separation. I'm going to check out Pirate next.

It was a short, cheesy story. It's a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with the beast being a literal asshole of a beast. So Jason 98% of all he did in this book was flirt with Isabel, and abruptly leave his store.

In the end, Isabella and Jason ride off into the sunset. I just didn't feel it. But luckily it was short enough.

This was an okay read. I have read Bedford's 'Underground' series and really liked it so I thought I would give her 'Fairy Tale Bad Boys' a shot. It's not bad per say but it wasn't is as good as the first book in Underground.

This book didn't take the direction I thought it would go in. With a series title such as 'Fairy Tale Bad Boy' you would think that the main romantic lead would be one of the big bads from the tales of old but I am sad to say he is not.

This story is just a bland erotica without much depth with the added twist of a random werewolf. An abusive one too so the wolves are NOT cuddly in this story. I am not fond of reading stories that deal with abuse but it appears in this one. It's not all encompassing but it still makes my stomach turn.

I have also noticed a theme with Erin's writing. Her heroines always seem to find themselves in the terrible position of almost being raped. I find scenes like that gut wrenching and I realize that not all stories are happy, real or fictional, I just hope that not all of the ones she writes have near rape scenes in them.

I don't think such a traumatic experience should be used as a continuous angst inducing reading lure. I will be very disappointed if the author persist with such themes. With that being said the book was mediocre. If you can stomach an almost attack and some abuse then you could always give this book a shot.

There is retribution and a HEA which gives me enough incentive to read the next installment. I know this author can write a great story so I am hoping that 'Pirate' is oodles better. We also get a short story at the end of this novella which gives us a glimpse into the life of the bad guys brother and we get to see from the PoV of a wolf. It's nothing grand but it was a nice addition I think.

Beauty and the Hunter is a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, sort of. Isabel has left her boyfriend, Jason. Her father has a gambling problem and owes the local casino a large sum of money. Isabel offers to work for the owner to pay off her father’s debt, though the owner seems to think this means he owns her too. Supernaturals (fae, vampires, werewolves, trolls, etc) have mad their presence known. The casino owner is a werewolf and the son of the Alpha of the pack in the region where Isabel lives.

This book is the first in a series of Bad Boys retelling of fairy tales in a modern setting. The twist is that in the stories, the “bad guy” is the good guy and the “good guy” from the fairy tale is now the bad guy. There is prejudice against the “sups” from the non-sup population. The author has fleshed out this world and the characters quite well. There is a HEA and each of the books in the series can be read in any order. Warning...there are explicit sex scenes in this book so it is not suitable for anyone under 18 though a mature 16/17 yo could read it. There are also several instances of domestic abuse. I enjoyed the book and having the Gaston character be toe good guy and the Beast the bad guy made it different.

Quick read -- great story!

This was a great mix of Beauty and the Beast and Red Riding Hood. Idk if that was the intention, but that is how it came across to me.
Isabel and Jason already have a history together when this story takes place --- and for me, sometimes that can put me off ----- not that I don't enjoy them! I so like a lot of them -- but I also enjoy new love that builds over time.
Anyway! They have been broken up for several months and Isabel has a new beau, Vincent, next in line for Alpha of the Minnesota packs. Apparently, no one in town really likes him, and most would say it is b/c he wasn't human. Isabel tries to look past all that b/c he has been a sweet gentleman towards her and treats her with respect - but holds her at arm's length. Meanwhile, Jason is trying to figure out different ways to win Isabel back and to get her away from the town mutt. So when Isabel's life becomes in danger, Jason does not hesitate to come to her rescue. When it comes to her, no one - human or otherwise - could stand in his was to keep her safe.
In the end, I love how it turns out. I look forward to reading the next book in the series 😘

This is the first book in this series and I really enjoyed it. This book is loosely based on Beauty and the Beast. Isabel felt like a girl from a fairytale who finally found her prince. Only this wasn’t a fairytale and her prince turned out to be a bit of an ass. Jason made a mistake and it cost him the woman of his dreams. Now she is dating a shifter. Jason has doesn’t care for anyone part of the supernatural community. It kills him that his mistake not only cost him Isabel but that she is now with one. Isabel is about to learn how bad things can really get. Will Jason turn out to be the prince she thought he was? I loved how some parts you could tell were related to Beauty of the Beast and yet it was different. I am excited to read the rest of the books in this series. Erin is a great author and weaves a fantastic story that pulls you in and makes you want more. This book shows that not everything is as it seems and sometimes monsters hide in plain sight. I highly recommend this book/series.

I absolutely adore the story of "Beauty and the Beast". So much so that I have read both the English and the original French tale (I took two years of French in high school, and it was just enough that I could translate the French in my mind). In my mind, Beast (Prince Adam in the Disney cartoon) and Belle are the perfect pair.

I tried to come into this story with an open mind. I enjoy reading tales where the "bad guys" win, but because Beast and Belle are such a perfect pair to me, I don't think it worked as well as I wanted. I did not like Jason. He was definitely not as bad as the original Gaston, but he still didn't sit well with me. That said, I absolutely HATED this "Beast", which we were supposed to do.

It was not a bad story. I felt that it needed to be bulkier, that the world could have been more developed than it was, but it was a decent read, and I think most of my not liking it came from my beforehand bias about Belle and Beast being a couple rather than there being anything really wrong with the book itself.

It’s not just Beauty and the Beast... Snow White’s Huntsman got caught up in the story...

If you are familiar with Snow White and the Huntsman, than you’ll understand the concept of blending that with Beauty and the Beast, in a world with Supernatural brings, to make a new story, not really a fairy tale, not even an adult one, but something all its own.

Part of what kept me turning pages was wondering if I was cheering for the right person or not. Jason seemed to be our Hero, flawed, yet likable... but was Vincent the Hero of his own story? Only the villain in Jason’s eyes? Or was there more to this Beast than the fact he could shift?

This story played with readers expectations, characters miscommunications, and failures to communicate, weaving a fun page turner.

This done in one quick read was followed by a short read in the same narrative universe, a bonus that was loosely connected, but offered a different perspective on the same world.

This book contains The Beauty and The Hunter and Red's One Night supernatural retelling of The beauty and the Beast and the Littl Red Ridding hood respectively. I loved both the stories and enjoyed reading it.

The Beauty and the Beast
Being a fan of supernatural/paranormal romance, I was little let down when the villian of the first story was a werewolf against the humans but I was elated towards the climax. And this version was completely different and I liked it.

Red's One Night
Isaac and Anna's story was a short bonus to The Beauty and the Hunter. I was grateful that the first story's villan's younger brother turned out to be the hero here. This story between Red and the Wolf was really amazingly sweet but sadly short. I wish they a short story with happy ending like Jason and Isabel did in the first story, instead of a hope to meet again.

Izzy broke up with her boyfriend Jason after a misunderstanding. She ended up dating Vincent a werewolf, he runs a casino. She went to work there for him due to her father. Izzy is confused as to why he won't touch her, she just thinks he is being a gentleman. Izzy can't seem to get away from her ex Jason either. Jason stops her to ask if she is pregnant, which throws her. Izzy is remind of her their arguments about it. Jason tells Izzy why he thought it and about Vincent.
Izzy goes home to confront Vincent about about why he heard. After he explains, Izzy loses it. Vincent will not allow her to get away with it. Izzy runs and tries to figure out what to do.

This was an entertaining read. There is a lot of sexual talk and such in this book. Things get interesting towards closer to the end of the book.

I really love reading this book. A great twist on one of my favorite classic fairy tales.

Isabel and Jason use to be together, but Jason made a mistake and she left and moved on, dating someone new. There's something odd about Isabel's newest love interest, Vincent. Though he goes through all the motions of being a boyfriend, he doesn't touch her. When Isabel finds out, she confronts Vincent and now he's after her.

Jason lost Isabel due to a stupid mistake...and he'll do anything to get her back. Knowing that Vincent is now after his love, he'll do whatever it takes to save her and win her back.

This book is a quick read. I love the interaction and chemistry between Jason and Isabel. The story line has plenty of action, twists and turns and plenty of drama and romance! You'll love it, I know I did! A definite must read!

Okay, I will be honest. I'm totally in love with fairy tale retellings, so I wanted to love it. And this story had me rendered speechless more then one time. It was confusing, because I actually loved and disliked it.

You have to know, this is another twist of Beauty and the Beast, but not in the form you are expecting. It actually goes forward in time, so this is more the story of Beauty and the Beast AFTER the happy ending. The story itself is fun, and hot and swoonworthy, the characters all loveable, fun and creative, but it had it's ups and downs.

I just wanted it to be a little longer to grasp more of the story, the characters, the back story. But I think if you love short stories, than this one's for you.

I love Erin Bedford. ;)
