This is the first in a series of contemporary romances. Don't be turned off by the word 'series' as there are no cliffhangers in any of these authors books.
Harmony is a plant conservationist, who's goal is to save endangered plants and make her boss proud. She's also trying to pay off a debt her jerk ex-boyfriend left her with when he manipulated her, and scammed her family of all their money. Since then, Harmony has been quite content to just live as solitary life as possible. Away from manipulating men and into the heart of nature.
“Plants were much easier to figure out than people”
Rick is contracted to oversee the building of a snack bar to satisfy his company’s investors. He's also struggled for most of his life to prove his worth to his father.
“He’d get this damn thing built and finally prove his worth to the old man.”
Once Harmony and Rick meet (two people from opposite sides of the track) they instantly butt heads. And now Rick has to put the construction on hold for his little plant angel. And deal with his fathers criticism.
“She was the cause of all this, with her little notebook and her ugly plant”
Finding Harmony, was such a sweet love story, with endearing characters and some good humor. It's written in 3rd person and so we get both Rick and Harmony's POV. Which I loved. The characters and story were very realistic. There was very little drama and nothing was overdone. Romance readers who are turned off by certain language will find the sexy times were sweet and loving, but still very hot.
This is a great contempo romance read. I really enjoyed the story and seeing them come together. Lots of granola crunchy planet saving stuff, fits because of her job.
Harmony is sassy and funny. I loved the banter with Rick. He is going through some things himself. I enjoyed seeing them dance around each other. The narrative is mixed, easily transitioning between the two POV. This helps to understand their motives and emotions better.
The story isn't anything amazing, however, it was thoroughly entertaining. There is something immensely like-able about the writing.
The bedroom door is open, just naughty enough to make you blush. Don't expect huge detail in the smexy scenes. They give steam but not volcanic.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Wendy Rich Stetson, who is a delightful new voice to me. I enjoyed her pace and the energy she gives the read. She has a great voice for the guys and the gals, not trying to stretch things too far. This is a case where the voice is a true compliment to the story. I will be looking for more of her reads down the road.
All in all this was a great experience, really hit the spot. It does a great job of getting you interested in the next book in the series. I definitely want to know about younger brother Jake!

I love when I can pick up a book, dive right in and be swept away. Finding Harmony is just that type of story. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Rick is trying to climb his way up the corporate ladder, and all because of a plant and sexy conservationist Harmony Brooks, his plans are put on hold. Their conflict and attraction kept me from putting this book down.
Finding Harmony is a sweet, lovely story, with likable characters and a little humor. Romantic and touching. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light enjoyable read.
DNF'd at about 40%. This has a good premise but the characters are a little flat. Wendy Stetson as the narrator is good but not well cast for this series. She has the right phrasing for non-fiction, but she's not a great voice actor - yet. There is potential there but this series just wasn't the best to show off her narrating talent.
I am so pleased I had the opportunity to review the audio and the book. When I received the request form Ms. Stetson, I was thrilled. While I have reviewed other audio books, this is my first request. Since I said I would be happy to, I asked if Ms. DeGioia would like me to review the writing as well. She agreed so my review will consist of my musings on the audio and the written word.
Harmony Brooks is a plant conservationist for the Cypress Corners Institute. When she finds wild buckwheat growing on the site for the new recreation café, she butts heads with Rick Chapman, the representative from Chapman Financial, bent on fulfilling the contract with Cypress Corners.
There is instant attraction between the two, but Harmony was burnt by a smooth talking guy for her past and is not about to fall for another one. She her attitude toward Rick is strictly business, but she has to constantly push down her attraction.
Rick Chapman is aiming for the top position with Chapman Financial and this contract is the chance he needs to prove to his father that he is the man for the job. The last thing he wants or needs is a cute little honey-colored blonde with amazing hazel eyes keeping him from his goals, but that is exactly what he finds in Harmony.
Can this ill-matched pair move beyond their extreme differences and find a love with fighting for, or will those differences pull them apart, leaving them broken-hearted.
My musings on Ms. Stetson’s narrative is extremely positive. Her narrative is smooth and flowing, and I could easily differentiate which character was speaking. Her forte is the women’s voices, from Harmony, to Lettie, to the receptionist in Harmony’s office. She brings the characters to life. Her interpretation of Lettie is spot on, an older gently bred southern woman with a very humorous and playful side. The receptionist’s voice is perky and youthful. I could easily picture what each of these characters must look like, just from Ms. Stetson’s tone.
I particularly enjoyed the inflection in Ms. Stetson’s voice during the love scenes. She is able to create the passion and emotion Harmony and Rick are feeling. She is actually able to emote more passion into the words than I would have felt if I had only been reading those scenes without her narration.
My one suggestion would be deepening the men’s voices a bit, perhaps add a husky quality to Rick’s voice and add a crisper tone to Bill Chapman. Possibly work a bit on bringing in the special drawl New Englanders have. Now she matched Harmony’s father’s voice to his character perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Stetson’s narrative and look forward to Taming Jake with great anticipation.
Ms. DeGioia has written a light-hearted tale of a missed-matched pair that still manage to fall in love against all odds. While the pacing of the story is excellent the romance between Harmony and Rick unfolds slowly as they fight their growing attraction. I struggled with liking Rick, but once he shares a bit of his story with Harmony, I was able to warm up to his character. I do wish Ms. DeGioia had given me more information about his relationship to his mother. I did not even realize she was no longer living until near the end of the story. However, since the next book in this series is Rick’s brother Jake’s story, I suspect more will unfold.
I fell in love with Harmony from the first page. She is feisty, dedicated and sweet-natured. This comes across in all her interactions with the other characters in the story. I particularly love Lettie. What a delightful character she is. The author’s description certainly brought this energetic older southern woman to life and adds humor to the book. I hope her character will make more appearances in Taming Jake!
While I would have liked to see a bit more emotion between Harmony and Rick, I still enjoyed their story and was pleased when they found their ‘Happily Ever After’. There is definitely chemistry between them and the love scenes bring that out very well. I look forward to reading the next book in this delightful series. Happy reading!
•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••
The narration was great! The nuances of each character's emotions were clearly portrayed lending a depth to the story I might have missed if I was reading it instead of listening :) I can't wait to listen to the rest of this series as Wendy Rich Stetson seems to completely convey the author's vision fully!
This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Taming Jake!
Harmony is a conservationist who works for Cypress Corners to make sure no nature is harmed by new development. It is her job to keep the rare plants safe from developers who would likely just destroy them to meet their almighty deadlines and keep their high profits flowing. Finding the rare buckwheat has been proof that she deserves her job. Now she just has to convince the handsome developer Rick he has to listen to her. Will they learn to work together? Or will they spend all their time fighting over what is more important, nature or the bottom line? Can she make him see reason? Why does he spark her interest when noone else has since college? Will she ever get over the past?
Rick has been working his whole life to gain his father's approval. He needs to keep his promise to his dead mother. Becoming heir apparent and the second in command at his father's empire is all that matters. He can't fail his mother's memory or his two siblings. No matter the price. He has no time for romance and he doesn't want it anyway! He will be happy when he FINALLY has his rightful place in the company. Doesn't he? Why is he so drawn to the one woman who can destroy his dreams? Could he be interested in more than a quick distraction?
***This chicklit romance series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy hopeful stories with plenty of steam and a dash of ecofriendly morals to go with the requisite HEA :)
An enjoyable listen brought to life by the talented Wendy Rich Stetson. She draws you into a quirky world of business execs and “tree huggers”, who try to save the wild life in their environment when business men come calling. Harmony Brooks is the “tree Hugger” who meets business man Rick Chapman, whose doing a project for his father in Harmony’s domain. At first the relationship is no relationship but it was kind of a complicated working relationship that had a couple of side benefits that may or may not have been beneficial to either side. It was funny when they met, but didn’t know who the other was when she rescues him from a bunch of fire ants. They really did make a good couple and there are a few characters that need a story of their own. Like Harmony’s parents, Rick’s family and we can’t forget Letty. She definitely needs a story of her own. It’s a quick listen and you’ll definitely enjoy it, but if you don’t get the audible version, you’ll still enjoy it. So pick up a copy and enjoy.
This was a fun audiobook. The story was about Harmony, a plant conservationist, who is trying to preserve a plant on a plot of land that Rick was to develop for his father's company. They develop feelings for each other, but don't want to give in on their beliefs. The narration was great once I sped it up a little. Wendy Rich Stetson's voice was pleasant and the voices of the different characters were appropriate and easy to differentiate. I really enjoyed this audiobook.
A charming and thought provoking story that takes place in an idyllic setting. I listed to the Audiobok and the narrator Wendy Rich Stetson did a good job, her voice is clear and she was able to differentiate the cast of characters very well. I enjoyed the tone of her voice and always knew which character was speaking. I was very drawn into the story, it has a positive message woven into a passionate love story.
I won a signed copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Well written love story. Easy to follow with a nice flow to the story. I love it when love stories end this way.
Cypress Corners starts out as your hometown story, a little slow at first, but once you begin to get to know the people who live there, you are thrown into the story full force. This first in the series introduces us to Harmony, a conservationist who finds an endangered plant growing in Cypress Corners near where there will be some development. Rick, the overseer of the project and man who needs to keep the investors happy is not too thrilled with this find. The two meet and conflict, but the chemistry is evident right away. I loved Harmony, she was a very matter of fact woman, able to stand on her own and was clear with her life path. I found Rick likable too, and as the book went on and you found out more about his past, it was evident the reasons why he reacted certain ways. The cast of background characters are quirky and fun. Harmony's parents, especially her mom brought a smile to my face each time she was in a scene. Also met Rick's brother and mention of his sister, so am looking forward to seeing their stories come out. Their family is definitely dysfunctional and it's always interesting to see how they pull themselves out of predicament.
My first Wendy Rich Stetson narration, and now I am wondering why I haven't stumbled upon her sooner. She has a rich, melodic voice that pulls you into the story. Each character is easily discernible and her cadence is perfect for this hometown series. I am looking forward to the next one!
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series a really enjoyable hea
I'm not sure if it was the mood I was in or not, but this started a little slow for me. Luckily it picked up pretty quickly and I found myself engrossed in the book. Wendy Rich Stanton has one of those voices that pulls you into a story and keeps you there. She just has a way of capturing the essence of the characters and making you feel like you know them. I really enjoyed Harmony, our main character. She just had this mellow personality that had no fuss and pomp. And, I even liked Rick. He was conflicted but honest. I loved the way their story sort of unfolded into this sweet, loving connection. I'm looking forward to enjoying the rest of this series. I'd really like to know what happens with Ricks siblings and if his detached father ever gets a clue.

This book was just okay for me. I really liked the main character, Harmony. But I felt that the storyline needed to be more developed. And I wish there had been more focus on the relationship between Harmony and Rick, instead of the focus being mostly on the physical aspect. I also wish we would have learned more about Rick's family - especially his mom. I feel like his relationship with his mom played a huge part in making him who he was, but she was barely mentioned.
Overall, enjoyable, but I think it could have been great with a little more depth and polishing.
