Old secrets never stay buried.

Lt. Jack Daniels hung up her shield for a more peaceful life with her family. Being a private investigator doesn't pay as well, and the benefits suck, but it beats dealing with serial killers and dead bodies.

When Jack and her partner, Harry McGlade, take a suicide case, it seems simple. But then the case brings them to upstate NY and converges with the case of a thrill-seeing P.I named Leah Ryan. Jack has dealt with Leah before, and as she expects, things go a little haywire.

As Leah and Jack work to untangle two linked cold cases of teenage girls who vanished in the mid-eighties, they come up against a serial killer who knows something, and wants to play cat and mouse from behind prison walls.

And he has fans willing to do anything for him. A lot of fans.

Double Shot, by Tracy Sharp, combines two strong female protagonists, two interesting sidekicks and a fascinating story into a book that I couldn't put down. Multiple murders from the distant past resurface to bring former cop, now PI Jack Daniels and her Partner Harry McGlade together with Tracy's fantastic Leah Ryan series characters in two cases that may or may not be connected. The author crafts some excellent scenes with a sadistic imprisoned serial killer with both Leah and Jack which leads to a richly satisfying ending. Double Shot is a total page turner for those who like their thrillers with a nice dose of humor.
