Harry Neville'larda kalırken bir yandan da Tonks ile Zihinbend ve KSKS eğitimi almaya başlar. Bu arafa babası tarafından doğum gününe davet edilir ama burada bir saldırı olur. Ölümden zor kurtulurlar. Okula gittiklerinde yeni KSKS hocaları Gilderoy Lockhart ile farklı dersler görmeye başlarlar. Ukala görüntüsü altında gayet yeteneklidir. Harry okula gelmeden önce Vernon yüzünden bir doksi saldırısına maruz kalır ve Dobby tarafından kurtarılır. Ama Lily bunu öğrenince kalp krizi süsü vererek Vernon'u öldürür. Lockhart okulda öğrencileri çeşitli gruplara bölerek çalıştırmaya başlar. Ginny sürpriz bir şekilde Slytherin'e seçilir ve burada zamanında babasının öldürdüğü ölüm yiyenin kızı Amy Wilkes ile karşılaşır. Luna herkesin kafasında Hımhımlar görmektedir. En başta kimse ciddiye almaz ama Lockhart ile yapılan bir düşünsel deneyinden sonra yetenekli olduğu çıkar ortaya. Jim düello dersinde kaza ile olsa da Çatalağız olduğunu gösterir ve çok tepki alır. Özellikle Ron ondan uzaklaşır. Bu arada okulda Slytherin varisi vardır ve Sırlar Odasından bir yaratık insanları dondurmaya başlar. Harry ve Draco Quidditch takımına girmiş ve Jim'e karşı zor da olsa kazanmışlardır. Okulda olabilecek en kötü şey olur ve Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hermione, Neville ve pek çok isim donar. En sonunda Harry, Ginny ve Jim Mızmız Mrytle ile konuşup sırlar odasına gider ve burada Ron'un bedeninde Voldemort ile karşılaşır. Zor da olsa günlüğü yok ederler ve geri dönerler. Harry bir şekilde Lucius Malfoy ve Weasley ailesinin arasını düzeltir. Ama Narcissa kocasını boşar. Ve bütün olayların sorumlusu olduğu düşünülen Gilderoy Lockhart'ın aslında şekil değiştirebilen Regulus Black olduğu ortaya çıkar. Black Hortkuluklardan haberdardır ve birini Kreacher yardımıyla yok etmiştir. A lot better than book one, but with its own failings. The comedic (dare I say, crack) undertones are better incorporated into the serious nature of this fanfic. That said, in order to do so everything is much more convoluted. Many of the plot holes, inconsistencies and over the top cliche elements are later found justified due some hidden eldritch reasons.

Unfortunately, the writing style gets much worse part way through this novel. Frequent flash backs/forwards, erased and recovered knowledge, etc etc makes reading this harder than it needs to be. At least one chapter was told with frequent scene breaks and a complete lack of continuity. Some of it makes sense due to the way magic works in this story, but other parts are just the author trying to hard to wow his audience with cheap thrills.

The tone and pacing is completely off in this series. It’s capricious nature makes it hard follow the storyline. It’s like having several different fanfics before an author comes along, squashes them together, and insists that they’re all in fact one story. I often completely forget past plot points because they feel like they were actually apart of a different story.

Not as good as the first one, but still very enjoyable. There was a lot more of the maid telling the butler things in order to get across worldbuilding exposition and a couple of subverted tropes that seemed to be there just for the sake of subverting the trope, but overall a very good story. I like what the author is doing with Marcus Flint and with Ginny (definitely a different take than The Changeling, but still interesting). Lockhart is a lot of fun, and I like where George and Draco are both going in this version. I'm not sure if I buy the reform of Lucius Malfoy, but it is interesting.

The author tries to justify House Elves, and I just don't think it works. Slaves who want to be slaves because....magic....nature....cosmic something. It doesn't work for me. The author does try to give them more agency than canon does, but what canon gives us is so problematic that I'm not convinced there is a satisfying way to reinterpret them.

Absolutely loved this. Could not look up from the book for the past 2 days. Amazing plot, characters, changes and the appearance of someone I love very much at the end.

I believe some relationships were a bit ignored over the others but this really can’t make me star this book down

Love it. So refreshing, uplifting and new take on HP as a Slytherin. Well written and audiobook narrated by the patronus pages give it another layer of greatness,
