Definitely the best one of these yet I very much enjoyed the dynamic between Jace and Tamiyo. I also very much enjoyed Emrakul having some character and not just being a big monster of destruction.

That was one hell of a way to finish this arc. The whole book is good, but that last chapter is just phenomenal. But, this book has solidified a decision... I'm going back to Old Magic. I was going to just read post Origins since it was all free on the Magic website. But even with my cousin feeding me a synopsis of Old Magic plots, it still feels like I'm coming into a universe halfway. So the next time you see MTG on my Goodreads feed, it'll be Brothers War.

Edit: I didn't read Brother's War next. If you want to read my next review, it's Agents of Artifice by Ari Marmell. And I'll tell you now, I had a LOT more to say about that book than any of the Magic Story so far.

The conclusion to the two part collection of Magic Stories from the Innistrad plane, 'Eldritch Moon' continues on from where 'Shadows Over Innistrad' left off and draws heavily upon the Cthulhu works of HP Lovecraft and gothic horror.

A spat between Nahiri and Sorin Markov, two of the three planeswalkers that originally trapped the monstrous Eldrazi on Nahiri's home plane of Zendikar, escalates to a duel which ultimately ended up leading to the fall of Innistrad's protector, and left the plane wide open to attack from the last of the escaped Eldrazi titans, Emrakul. With Emrakul taking full advantage of the disappearance of the protector, its corruption descends Innistrad into a madness of horror and enslavement. It's up Jace, Tamiyo and the rest of the Gatewatch, to stave off the apocalypse.

Its a very enjoyable read, and a much more tighter narrative as we explore more of this plane in the Magic multiverse. We reunite with some of the characters that had minor roles from the last collection, like Thalia and Arlinn Kord, as well as more from Jace, Liliana Vess, Tamiyo, Nahiri and Sorin Markov. I also liked that Emrakul actually had some sort of personality, rather than just being a titan of death and destruction like the Eldrazi were characterized with in the Zendikar stories.

The Magic Stories series have been an excellent and entertaining read, so far and 'Eldritch Moon' is another good entry in the series.

This is continuation of the story “Shadows Over Innistrad” in this second part the arc is closed. We pick up immediately after the last book and now this is superb Lovecraft meets the gothic horrors, I totally loved the concept, the Eldrazi (which are pure Lovecraft monsters) are summoned to this word and they’re unstoppable infecting and morphing everything on its reach, even angels are affected and we can see the cosmic horror being felt by every other kind of horror. We get a lot of action from the Gate watch (a group of wizards that are able to travel between worlds and who swore to defend the multiverse) and also the inhabitants and their struggle against the two front assault, that leads to a rational yet unlikely alliance.

This was a fun conclusion to the story started in Shadows Over Innistrad. Very much a love letter to Lovecraft while still keeping the gothic horror feel of Innistrad that made it so appealing. After reading about two different planes on the verge of apocalypse over these last two blocks its good to know that the next stories on Kaladesh will be a bit more personal and while serious may not have the fate of a whole plane of existence at stake. Another enjoyable Magic story much in line with the last few I have read. A good, fun, quick read.
