Eu gostei tanto do comecinho, tinha grandes esperanças de que iria amar... acabei de cara no chão. Simpatizei com a mocinha a princípio, mas depois a Megan só me deu nos nervos! A única amorzinho do início ao fim foi a Laney! <3

Stay Awhile is beautifully intense. Riveting and emotional. It's a story that left me completely breathless from beginning to end and one that owns a massive piece of my heart. No one writes love like my girl Gia Riley.

Stay Awhile by Gia Riley
3 stars!!!

“Don’t want me because you think you owe me. Want me because you have to have me.”

This was a book that I picked up because of the cover (eek), I must admit I did think this one was about a dancer, but alas no, no dancing in here but Gia Riley delivers a story that is all singing and dancing in its own right.

This is a hard book to review because I don’t want to give too much away but Megan Campbell’s life as she knew it was turned upside down and inside out in the blink of an eye. Everything she thought she knew was wrong, she had been betrayed, lied to and as a result her five-year-old daughter was in hospital. Her husband, Connor, was her only partner, they got together in high school and had been together ever since. Megan thought he was her forever, but maybe fate and repercussions had other ideas? Lainey, Megan’s daughter was just a little darling and was a great character from start to finish, nothing like a little kid’s honesty to bring the adults down to earth. She was truly adorable.

“I was naïve. Maybe I still am, because no matter how much I trusted Connor, he’s always had the power to destroy me, because I’ve always loved him unconditionally.”

Connor, I hated him with a passion, there was something about him that grated on my very last nerve and I pride myself on being a good judge of character. He was as fickle as they come, selfish and abhorrent and despite the last few chapters, my sentiments haven’t changed.

Dr Garrett Kristoff was a school friend of both Megan and Connor, he is now the surgeon in charge of Lainey’s case and it has been a long time since their paths have crossed. Garrett was completely delightful in everything he said and did, he went above and beyond one hundred percent of the time. Garrett was the victim of unrequited love, he had only loved one person and that was Megan. Megan had always belonged to Connor and so he never made his move or made his feelings felt. Now that Connor had destroyed his marriage, all he had to do was bide his time once again.

“You’re right. My heart wants to protect you, but my body wants to explore the fuck out of you.” “Do it. Be Christopher fuckin’ Columbus.”

Stay Awhile is one hell of an emotional roller coaster and I absolutely loved everything about this book…until the end. The last few chapters are a complete mystery to me and in my opinion were not needed. It was just one unnecessary plot twist that fell flat, left my head shaking side to side and gave me that what the ever-loving fuck feeling. Up until this point, this was a solid 4 star read, but the ending was rushed and just didn’t fit into the story at all. This also left me with so many unanswered questions.

This is a book about hard knocks, where most would never recover, you just get back up, fight harder. Taking the rough with the smooth, seeing people for the reality they are and dealing with the consequences, learning to trust again, learning to be vulnerable again, falling in love once again and having something real to live for. Megan certainly had her fair share of curveballs, but she showed her inner strength and owned it.

“It’s time the man in her life got it right. It’s time to rewrite the ending.”

Most of the time when I finish a book, I spend anywhere from a few hours to a few days to think about what I just read and how to write my review. Stay Awhile by Gia Riley was not one of those books. Beautifully written, this book has everything a reader could want. Ms. Riley knew her characters well and wrote them even better. She knew the story she wanted to tell and it exploded on the pages.

The dynamics of the characters relationships are mind-boggling. Conner and Megan. Garrett and Megs. Conner and Laney. Garrett and Laney. Megan and Laney. Conner and Garrett. All of them made for an exceptional storyline that has you feeling every emotion from the happiest of highs to the heartbreaking of lows.

Gia Riley has written one of the strongest female characters I have ever had the opportunity to read in Megan. The tidal wave of emotions Megan goes through and the way she comes through them is outstanding. With Garrett, Ms. Riley has given us a Hero that all of us want in our life. And Conner, well, as the story unfolds you will have so many different views that you just won’t know what to think.

This book was a total page turner for me because I just had to find out what the next step in the journey for Megan would be. With every event that happens as the story progresses, your mind is blown away just a little more.

Intense, gripping story I couldn't read fast enough to find what unfolded in the lives of Megan, Connor and Garret, and Lainey.
This was a haunting, yet refreshing story of hope, second chances, and redemption. With truly flawless writing, the characters were beautifully developed and each one tied seamlessly to the story!
Full of twists and turns, even the characters we hated evoked emotions as the story unfolded, making them critical to the story.
Megan returns home to discover that her life as she knew it, was nothing more than a fabricated twisted version of reality, full of secrets and betrayals. One mistake destroyed all their lives.
But Megan also discovers, that it took something awful to happen in order to for her to find true happiness, and that everything happens for a reason even if we don't understand it at the time.
Can she survive learning the truth?
Can she move forward and lean to trust and love again?
And that ending...
An absolute must read!!

"We don’t have tomorrow figured out let alone the future, but with this amazing man by my side, I have a fighting chance. And I’ve never been more excited to stay awhile."

Stay Awhile by Author Gia Riley is a friends-to-lovers novel.

"I’ve always wanted you, Megs. The timing was never right, and you already had what you were looking for, but that’s not the case anymore."

Megan fell in love at an early age with Connor. He was her everything, and she let him consume her. But, this now seems to be a one-sided love and Megan is crushed in the process. Garrett has been her friend since childhood, and when she and her daughter, Laney, need him most, he's there.

"Garrett’s part superhero, with the capes and all. I think he’s probably friends with Santa and that’s how he made it happen. They’re working together.”

Initial impression...I am in kid-love. Authors use so many techniques and story-starters to lure in a reader. Author Gia Riley made my heart melt with adoration for sweet Laney, and that was all it took. I then slid fast and furiously into ga-ga infatuation with Garrett. He was the best superhero for Laney, kind, protective, and charming. But for Megs he was the enforcer, making sure her every need was met, and keeping the "bad guy" away.

"He’s a total contradiction—sweetly romantic by day and sinfully lustful at night. If it were up to me, I’d live in a world of total darkness, just so I could explore the heat radiating off of him."

I loved all of the character interactions in this story. The rich history of bonds and connections that friends-to-lovers stories bring is always sentimental and moving. Laney and Garrett gave some of the hottest highs and some of the most unfortunate lows, allowing me to stay connected to them and each facet of the novel.

“I’ve always liked you, Garrett, but you’re not my second place. Someone as good as you always deserves first.”

In addition to the great characters, there was this simple thread of suspense. Every time it same back around I wanted to scream, "Tell me now!". It was the perfect added edge. And OMG! The end of this story. Wow! Gia Riley, you absolutely know how to give your readers so much more than they expected. That was just amazing! And I am hopeful that, beyond the evident HEA, it left us with an open door.

"If you stay . . . You won’t regret. If you stay . . . I’ll make you mine."

I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily decided to review it.

This one really throws you into the deep end right away. Megan is just coming home from some sort of trip expecting to see her daughter and husband. Instead her husband has been cheating on her and she finds his mistress just sitting at the kitchen counter all casual. WTF? She eventually leaves after admitting she knows he's married and does not care in the least. What a bitch! Megan has a sense of dread about where her soon to be ex and daughter are. We find they've been in some sort of accident and then jump to her daughter being at a children's hospital being treated by a bone surgeon. All I can say is wow! Riley does not wait to give us a sucker punch!

Garrett, a potentially long lost love was sweet and just made me want to hug him and say: go for it! Connor, the piece of shit husband, really is a piece of shit. Why oh why he couldn't have died in the accident is beyond me (I swear I'm a nice person). The daughter is so cute and really helps lighten the mood of this book.

I really do hope there is a second in the work though. There are a lot of unanswered questions. It seems to have left on a cliffhanger of sorts and I just need to know what happens! Even if it's not a HEA, I just need to know! So please Gia Riley if you're reading this, please give me a second I'll eternally be in your debt :)

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

*Carla's Three Star Review

Megan Campbell thought she had it all. She was married to Connor, her high school sweetheart, and together they shared a beautiful daughter named Laney. Everything was perfect until the night she walked in and found a strange woman sitting in her kitchen. Things go from bad to worse when she learns that Laney has been badly injured in a car accident. Of course, she is distraught, but she feels a little better when she learns that her long time friend and now respected surgeon, Dr. Garrett Kristoff, is in charge of Laney's care. As the days pass, the secrets surrounding her marriage and family just keep on coming, but Megan's sole focus is helping her daughter heal.

Garrett has only ever loved one woman, and that woman is Megan Campbell. Even though he hates the circumstances that brought Megan back into his life, he is determined to be there for her and her daughter. He secretly hopes that this might be fate's way of offering them a second chance at love. His main goal is to hopefully become the hero that Megan and Laney so desperately need.

From the start, I hated Connor with a passion, and that hate only grew stronger at the way he treated his family. They deserved so much better, and, in my opinion, Garrett was the best. While I loved Megan and Garrett, it was little Laney that stole the show! She was pure sunshine! Her love and loyalty to her mom really touched my heart. I was super happy when it appeared that the story would end with a HEA, and, it did, sort of. The last two chapters had me shaking my head and asking "What the heck just happened?" I really hope there is a follow up book because I was left with a lot of unanswered questions.

OMG!!! Half way through the PROLOUGE... I knew I was going to LOVE this book and it would be rated FIVE STARS... if I could give it more, I would.

I am still emotional about this beautiful story. I CRIED and I mean "UGLY CRY" and have been thinking about this book.

This is the very first book I've read from Gia Riley, I'm blown-away. I was in a plane and gasped, thank goodness I quickly realized where I was because SCREAMING in an airplane is NOT a good idea.

One could get whiplash from the impact of the bombshells she drops. I NEVER saw them coming.

The first five words that comes to mind when thinking about this Heart-Stopping Story - True Love, Sacrifices, Flabbergast, Heartbroken and Torn.

"Don't want me because you think you owe me. Want me because you have to have me."

This book will grab you from the first page until you flip to the end. Megan Campbell comes home from a work trip to find out her husband and kid aren't there but she finds a woman she doesn't know in her kitchen, drinking her wine, and talking on the phone after her husband and child. If I were Megan I would flipped the fuck out right then and kicked her homewrecking ass right out of my house. While the lady did leave she found out that her husband and kid were in a car accident -- so like any normal mom/wife she dropped everything, grabbed her car keys, and rushed to the hospital.

Now that's just the prologue... in the first chapter you find out her kid still isn't doing well. She's in the hospital about to meet her new doctor and to get another surgery done. Now this new doctor knows Megan from school and his name is Garret and he's been in love with her for as long as he could remember. But she had Connor and she loved him, well that was how she felt until that day when she came home to an find a new woman. Oh and he was the reason for the accident because he was drunk. Now he is in the hospital while Laney and Megan are at the hospital.

Laney, Megans daughter, is freaking adorable. I love her character and I abso-freaking-lutely love her sass. Then with Garrett has her doctor...it just was the cherry on top. I loved their friendship and then their relationship. He was the guy that she needed all along--not Connor (BYE FELICIA). Also super happy Connors misbitch (I mean mistress) left him. Good, Connor should suffer for being a shithead.

Omg and the ending!!!! I'm not going to give it away. Go read it for yourself.

Life can change in the blink of an eye and that's what author Gia Riley did. She changed a few lives. I shall not spoil this read for anyone, as I just have to say you need to read this book.

I usually can see the twist coming a mile away, but Stay Awhile threw a good one in the mix that I truly did not see. I was captured from the first page and that didn't stop until the last page. This is a new author for me, and with that said this won't be my last read by her either.

If you haven't read this beautifully written story you are missing out.

I just found another favorite author to add to my list. Gia Riley, this book was brilliant.
I cherished every word, every sentence and finally, every paragraph. This book brought a few feelings and thoughts that hit very close to home.

Megs had her life shattered into pieces when she discovered her daughter and her husband were in a car accident. With her daughter, Laney, suffering the worst of the injuries. While being there for Laney. Megs finds out some traumatizing news..Her life and marriage was a lie. I hated Connor from the beginning of the book to the very end.

I am not going to give the story away by explaining anymore. I hate spoilers. But trust me Stay Awhile is flawlessly written. Beautiful storyline with a few twists and turns along the way.
Garrett is swoon worthy.
Megs played one heck of a strong lead.
I absolutely fell in love with Laney. What a beautiful Angel she is.

10 stars for a wonderful book..

I am a hopeless romantic who loves a story with twist and turns, a story that takes me on an emotional journey, and Gia Riley delivers a remarkable love story! For starters, her writing is flawless! The words flow and entwine effortlessly. It's clear as day the passion she has for writing because the proof is this book.

A love triangle that leaves you speechless is what Gia has written! Reading this story only attest that when you are destined to be with someone, you will find a way to each other even if it means you must all have to endure the worst of all pains to finally see light of happiness. Love will blind you and make you do whatever it takes to make sure those we love are genuinely happy.

Thank you for a beautiful story Gia Riley! When this book releases, you must ONE CLICK!! Happy Reading book lovers!

This is a complex, suspenseful and emotional romance read. Megan goes thru something no parent or spouse should ever have to go thru. She finds out everything about her life was a lie in a span of hours and then on top of it , her child is horrifically injured. Betrayal , pain, and loss definite this story but then we have renewal, hope, and new love also comes to the forefront with Dr Garrett Kristoff- he is the surgeon in charge of Megan’s daughter’s case. He was a school friend of Megan’s and her estranged husband.
With all that has gone on in her life of late, Megan is leery to let Garrett in her life yet he doesn’t give up. Garrett feels different-- Garrett was the victim of unrequited love, he had only loved one person and that was Megan. When Megan ended up with Connor , he chose to not let her in on his feelings or act on them yet now that Connor had completely blew up his marriage, Garrett happens to be around to be there for Megan and bide his time once again.
Stay Awhile is one emotionally complex read. There are multi layers to this story. The jerk husband angle worked great –and the beginning there was a show of the ‘OW” yet never really got a read on who she really was. There were mentions but no full explanation—I will say I loved what I did read which was the 2nd chance love story of Megan and Garrett. I loved Megan’s daughter Lainey. She was adorable. Seeing Megan taking a chance on actually giving in and learning to trust her heart—loved it. Garrett was a fantastic book boyfriend. Only thing that I felt could have been improved/hashed out more was the ending. I needed to know more and it was rushed…there were things left unsaid and I would have liked that more tied up..and would have liked to have an epilogue where we see Megan and Garrett a year or so down the road. Otherwise, this was a fantastic read .

My rating: 4.6 stars ****

This is one of them most emotional stories I’ve listened to. I’m listening to the story and it’s going along as a heartbreaker. Megan’s life is sent into a whirlwind when her family is in a car accident. As she faces what she has ignored she makes life changing decisions that cause her mental anguish. Circumstance causes her to interface with Garrett and things proceed from there. There is just so much to this story that I went from issue to issue only to find out the ending is a total emotional gotcha. There are few authors who can pull off this sort of story but this author does so successfully. I have enjoyed other of her stories and she is one to follow. I will recommend this book and I don’t do so to many. I received a free copy of this story and this is my voluntary review but this story is just so good I’d have had to take the time to write a review no matter what. Also since this is the audio edition I have to also say the narrator, Sarah Puckett did a very believable job. A narrator can make audio books come to life if they do a good job and she did a great job here.

I was missing this authors writing. The last book I've read was a few months ago so I was super happy to get this chance to read a new one. When you love an author we want more books all the time, and the couple of books that I've read were amazing and intense so I knew that this one would be fantastic.
Gia Riley has a simple, detailed writting with so much feelings behind each word, behind each chapter.
Oh boy what a book.
Stay Alive telles the stories of Megan and Garret.
Megan thought that she had everything, a loving husband and a beautiful daughter but sometimes things are not what we think. After a weekend away she returns home and find out that her husband and daughter were involved in a car accident. And she also found out that he was cheating on her. Let's talk about bad mojo.
Garret is a doctor at the hospital where Megan's daughter was admited. He know Megan since highschool, he secretly has a crush on Megan and now he's going to be the doctor that will take care of her little girl .
Perfect, just perfect. We will find everything in this book, love, happiness, sadness, betrayal, crime, punishment and some hot stuff to the mix. The way the story unfolded was so intense that I was sad, happy, nervous and afraid at the same time. Jeez what a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm overwhelmed with all of this. I'm speechless and ecstatic at the same time. What do you have in store for us Gia Riley?? Oh boy

This book! My goodness Gia Riley blew Stay Awhile out of the water! I was pulled in from the first page and as the story continued to unfold I couldn't stop reading. There were a few twists that left me with my eyes about to pop outta my head. I was so wrapped up in Megan's story that when it was over I kept trying to flip for more pages.

There was so much happening and it had my emotions all over the place. Megan's plight made me root for her to get some happiness. I loved that she had people in her corner fighting with and for her, especially Garrett. Oh that man is something special. A true care giver (he is a doctor after all) and just kind down to his core. He has long held a torch for Megan but respected her happiness with Connor even though he didn't like it. But with the opportunity that landed in his lap (thanks to some scheming from both of their sisters) he knew this was his chance.

I loved his patience and that while Garrett wanted Megan, he was her friend first. He put her feelings above his own. The thing that stuck out the most to me while I was reading was Laney. That little girl lit up every single scene she was in. Her joy and innocence melted my heart and Garrett's too!

I was so ready for Megan and Garrett to have their happily ever after but then...the twist! It just proved that if you love someone, really love them, you put their happiness above your own- no matter the cost. EVERYTHING about Stay Awhile was incredible. From the cover which is just stunning to Gia Riley's writing, which keeps getting better with every title she releases, to that ending- which might not really have been an ending...this book is one you don't want to miss.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that I can describe what I just experienced, as I'm 50 shades of jacked up hours later. And with my dramatic girly girl emotions flying in every direction, which is what this review will be full of! But I must start out with saying that GIA RILEY TRIED TO KILL ME DEAD! Which means that she's the newest member on the list of authors trying to KILL ME, and forevermore, will be hash tagged #EVILWHORE! Although I have made hash tagged names, this doesn't mean that I didn't ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE this story, because I so did! Her brilliant writing style tied me down in one position from the very first page to the last, and I devoured it! While so much of it was filled with emotional angsty goodness that may or may not have had my eyes leaking, her diabolical twist and turns had me dropping loud f-bombs throughout the whole story, as I didn't see many of them coming. Then, that very last twist had me circling all over my house dropping loud f-bomb, and calling this talented author some serious colorful metaphors. And now I can't decide if it's over, or there's more, as some huge questions were left unanswered. So now I'm left waiting impatiently to see what happens next! Do yourself a huge solid, and join me in the land of jacked up by reading this DIABOLICALLY BRILLIANT story asap, because I promise the emotional, and intense ride is a blast! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Stay Awhile is such a beautiful, heartfelt story.

Megan never dreamed of coming home from an out of town work trip to find a woman sitting in her kitchen. A woman who used a key to get in and had no shame about it. Connor and Laney were nowhere to be found and she panicked. After calling the local emergency rooms, she discovers her daughter has been taken to the local children's hospital as a result of an accident. Megan never dreams of her world coming down and crashing on her at this time. Will she be able to handle all the truths that are about to be discovered?

Garrett works at the children's hospital as an orthopedic surgeon. Never did he dream of running into Megan again after all these years and she is no longer wearing her wedding ban. After some help from his sister Grace and Megan’s sister Vanessa, Garrett is determined to help her during this time. Will he be able to handle all Megan is going through? Will he be the light at the end of the tunnel for her?

I struggled to write my review in fear of giving too much of the book away. I was blown away by Stay Awhile. Gia Riley is a new author to me and I absolutely love her work. Stay Awhile took me on an emotional roller coaster that I did not want to get off. I fell in love with Garrett and his selflessness and his love for Megan and her daughter. My heart broke for Megan and all she goes through during the story. She truly is a strong woman to handle all she was faced with. It is a story full of tragedy, heartache, healing, and learning to live again. I have to say at the end I was shocked, but in a great way! Stay Awhile is a definite must read and one of my favorites so far this year!

I have no idea who this author is. I saw the cover and it immediately caught my attention. It's absolutely gorgeous. I wish more authors would catch on that you don't need a half naked man on the cover to sell books.

This story was heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. The best parts of this book for me was seeing Garrett and Laney interact. Garret is a hot pediatric orthopedic surgeon....and pretty much a saint in my book....after dealing with Megan he deserves a medal. Laney is Megan's 5 year old daughter and a bit of an old soul. She has become my favorite child fictional character! That's how much I loved this little girl.

Why I didn't give this book 5 stars.....well I'm still a bit confused with the whole Connor/Sarah and her family situation. I wish this had been fleshed out a bit more. I have a bunch of questions, and they weren't answered. Megan also drove me a bit crazy. I wasn't happy with how she treated Garrett.....like I said, the mans a saint.

I will definitely be checking out other books written by this author.

An emotionally written rollercoaster full of drama, heart ache and pain and the sweetest love story. I absolutely adored this stand alone romance and it’s characters.

Sarah Puckett has become one of my utmost favorite narrators. She brought this audiobook to another level!

Stay Awhile

I happened along this, new to me, author while reading a short story in an anthology I had bought. It intrigued me enough that I immediately bought the book. I must say I like Gia Riley's style of writing and hope to check out more of her books.
