Desperate for a Fix is the true story of a young southern girl who had been injured by pre-teen image bashing, rape, and abortions. Her need to be loved and rebellious nature convinced her to move to New York City looking to find what she didn’t realize she had all along. Eventually the truth rang out, but not before 9 years were spent homeless, addicted to heroin, prostituting herself, and many other harrowing circumstances. With the help of her family, two New York City Policemen, and the many prayers from home, she was able to find a real God, in a way she never dreamed was possible.
I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with the journey of both Dana and her family.
I’m invested in the impact and inspiration that can come from this book, and I will share it with everyone I meet.
This story is a beautiful testament to the power of believing in someone so much that you never give up on them, no matter what decisions they make and how far they push themselves away from you.
In this book, Dana walks you through her personal journey of addiction, beginning with her youthful decisions until she found freedom in her 30s.
I would not only recommend this book to somebody who is interested in a great story, but I would also recommend this to anybody who is either struggling with addiction or if they love someone who is.
There is a great amount of healing I experienced from reading the story, as it deals with family relationships alongside addiction.
I would love to thank the author for being so raw, vulnerable, and intentional behind sharing her story with all of us.

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing her story up close and personal but also reading it was just inspiring . Such humility and what an amazing human being she is. Love her bravery and vulnerability and what strength!! True testimony of gods faithfulness and love. I’m so blessed to know her and her story ! I couldn’t put it down the minute I started it ♥️
This author has quite a story to tell and I wish she would write another about her three blessings. Ms.Brown is absolutely an amazing example of what the Lord can do in your life, and if He did all this for the author He will also do it for you. Please don't give up on the addicts in your life.
The author does a great job of reminding us that miracles happen everyday and people can change. The book takes you on a ride through the highs and lows of life for a small town country girl who becomes a young woman in New York City. A great testimony for anyone that has dealt or is dealing with addiction. An inspiring true story told from the author's eyes!
Dana is now such a great member of church, community and our city. I have had the opportunity to see her work with homeless. She is making such a incredible difference in so many lives
