I remember the first day I saw her; an instant attraction. I think she’s beautiful. She has such pensive blue eyes; they remind me of a blue sky right before the sun descends. Every time I see her I want to talk to her, I want to get to know her, and I want to be her friend. She usually completes the lower woodland walk in six minutes and forty-two seconds; she misses the deeper woodlands and goes home, I believe.
I walk down the road at the same speed as her. She reaches the crossroads at the bottom of the road, looks both ways, and then jogs across into the garden of a house. I stop walking and concentrate on which house is hers.
I can’t stare too long but I am intrigued already, I will come back.”

*** AUDIO BOOK VERSION *** Deception: A love of Lies is a midbending suspenseful book about the lies we tell, the lies others tell and the lies we accept to believe. Billy enjoys walking his dog Ella through the woods daily where he lives. One day he sees a woman and starts planning his walks to try and bump in to her. As luck would have it, they start up a friendship that turns into a relationship. Billy has lost so much in the past and has been battling depression ever since - can he truly have found happiness again. Then the story darkens - a man turns up claiming to be Eves other lover and confronts Billy. Is she truly who he thinks she is? The story unfolds from here and will make your head spin and question how well you know another person. The lies and warped mind games played out in this book certainly had me looking over my shoulder! The narrators voice was an amazing fit for this novel and kept me listening to this twisty, addictive read.
This fantastic psychological thriller begins innocently and then spirals into the heart of a twilight zone. This is the ride and drama you won’t forget. Grab T.J. Blake’s Deception without further delay and experience this unbelievable love of lies!
In Deception, Billy is obsessed with Eve and begins to take on stalking her. Leering at her in the woods when she walks her dog, peering in her windows and photographing her. Eventually Billy is able to insert himself in her life, but everything and everyone isn't as it appears. Slowly, secrets are revealed.
This is an interesting psychological thriller that kept my attention and the audiobook is SUPERBLY narrated
I felt this book gave off BA Paris vibes which is a high compliment as I love her work. I was intrigued through the whole story, trying to figure out what was going on. Although there wasn't the shock factor at the end, I was happy with the ending. I would categorize this as a slow burn thriller, it's not action packed but it worked great for me.
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
I will definitely read more by TJ Blake and as luck would have it, his book Familiar, is up next for me on audio and I can't wait to dive in
‘Deception’ revolves around a man in the slums of depression after losing his wife. Her death affected him in ways he couldn’t foresee. He never imagined he would find love again.
As luck would have it, he found another woman. After a long time of solitude, depression, and grief, he has found love again. She is all he can think about. In fact, Billy Allen, the protagonist, plans his dog walking out so he can intentionally bump into her. Thus, starting their relationship.
However, as their relationship progresses it becomes clear she is no ordinary woman. After a strange, cryptic warning, Billy is riddled with doubts.
How can this be? I love her. This man has to be lying. Surely?
After initial hesitation, he reluctantly uncovers the woman’s true nature through an abundance of epic twists and turns.
This novel begs the question: do you really know the person you’re in love with?
I found this read to be riveting. I could not put it down! A psychological thriller that leaves you breathless.
The writer pours heaps of emotion into every character. In fact, the characterizations are so real, you can easily imagine them being real people. Hopefully, the situation isn’t too common, though.
If you are looking for an edgy, addictive read, this is it! A loss. A new love. An unsettling discovery. Does he really know the woman he loves?
You have not experienced betrayal, suspense, or a truly compelling mystery until you’ve read ‘Deception’.
‘Deception’ will have you looking over your shoulders and wondering if there is anything your loved one is hiding from you…
He's lost his wife, Cindy and now he doesn't know how he's going to cope. Depression grips him but his mood soon picks up after he meets Eve, a woman with similarities to his wife. Has Billy's life changed for the better?
But, it's right at this point that the love-story ends.
Deception is truly an easy novel to read as well as follow, which is not necessarily a bad thing despite its plot-line. It has intrigue, erotic sex scenes and an ability to just hook you from the very beginning. T.J. Blake's style of writing is surprisingly evenly paced but don't let that fool you. This novel can certainly give as good as it gets when compared with those from more well-known authors in the same genre.
This is a book that is certainly one of my favourite reads for 2017 and I've read a fair few! I liked the amount of depth that has gone into each characters story. I loved the fact that there was a new surprise every time I turned the page. I loved the simplicity of the style of writing combined with the complexity of its nail-biting plot. A truly brilliant read!
Amazing novel! Another great read from T.J. Blake. This is the fourth novel from this up and coming writer. 'Deception: A love of Lies' has you gripped from the very first chapter and I really could not put this down. The character and scene depictions really paint the picture in your mind. A highly believable plot line, intriguing characters and twists & turns make this a real page turner. Well done on another great release. I look forward to the next release in the not too distant future.
A book about a seriously emotionally wounded man and a new woman in his life. It kept me reading to figure out who was the evil one, the devious one. I found myself hating the main character, and then the woman. It was hard to figure out and the ending still surprised me and will keep you reading to find out what happens. A good read.
I obtained a copy of this book through the author via @BookTasters in exchange for a full honest impartial review (no spoilers, you will have to read to see what i mean by each one).
Deception is an excellent read full of underlying themes, a powerful, emotional, gripping plot as well as overlying the main theme of deception, full of vivid imagery which brought the story to life in my mind, mind blowing and astounding twists, believe me, when you've read this review with the others here, you'll be dying to read it yourself after my personal, analytical review!
Deception follows the main characters perspective in the 1st person (our main protagonist, Billy) and refers to other characters along the way and whisks you away into their world, the only chrtisim of this is that it is at times confusing in the book and at times i've wondered at what the other characters perspectives were. It also explores the following themes, i shall be expanding the themes in this review and they'll be no spoilers: 1. Love/Lust/Obsession 2. Lies 3. Deception 4. Blackmail 5. Depression and Loss 6. The Sense of Community 7. Secrets
1: Love/Lust/Obsession: our main protagonist meets a woman called Eve (which is my middle name I have to add) in the woods walking his own dog, at first he has lustful thoughts and then falls in love (albeit a little too fast for my liking). I have experienced love, lust, heartbreak and the loss of love, i have at the moment in time have fallen in love 4 times so far, 2 didn't feel the same way, 1 took things too fast and the last one didn't want to be seen with me in public which is a big no no with me and he along with the one before were after on thing, sex which is another no no area, naturally heartbreak happened with all four but i was the one who finished the recent relationship. i believe just as our lead does that no one should be pressured into this area, this book did make me cry at the sadness of the loss of love for billy as hes the sort of person i'd go for in my ideal man, smart, sensitive, loving and above all loyal and willing to fight for the person he loves. Obsession is experienced in this book too but i wont elaborate here for fear of spoiling the book for you.
2.Lies: Lying features heavily in this novel and the lies in this book are not all good intentioned as thy have a tiny effect on Billy's state of mined and leads him to question does he really know this woman at all and what secrets does she hide? (more on the secrets theme under no.7) this does go to show that however well intentioned the lie is, it isn' t always seen that way for the other person. Yes, i have to say there are times when i have lied as a child but i've grown out of that phase but i can't remember any memories to support this and yes everyone has lied at one time in their life, if they say they've never lied they are lying to you!
3. Deception (the main theme): Deception can come in many forms such as lying but mainly a persons deception can happen on different levels, for example with our lead character Billy, he is both the deceived and the deceiver. Confused? Well, i'll explain what i mean here, Billy is deceived by one or a couple of characters in this book but he also deceives himself hes in love but compares her to memories and is blinded by this for a while. Deception however well its hidden can be also found out and the deception in this book is so shocking and at points in this book horrible and it did make me angry at first but when you read this you may understand the motives just as I did.
4. Blackmail: this is another theme discovered in this book and is another method of deception (point 3) and can be really harmful and the effects are experienced by the lead and other characters. Blackmail can be on a par with cohersion and Lies and i am grateful to say this is one theme i've never experienced and i hope i will never experience this.
5. Depression and Loss: Depression and Loss is experieneced in the novel in places and speaks volumes, our lead, Billy has experienced loss that render anyone depressed ( shall not spoil things for you here). depression and loss can happen on many horrible, hurtful levels they fainge from small losses sush as the loss of freedom. I have exprienced this area frequently, i have exprierenced the loss of many of my jobs (through no fault of my own i grant you) but the most of all the loss of several loved ones, my pets, my aunt Florice and other people but the one that i felt most of all so far was my own Grandad Dougie, we were very close cos he was around from the day i was born till 2011, following that i had a bout of depression for 3 months. i am currently suffering another about of depression which was caused by the fallout of an accident (not my fault) which happened 1 yr and 10 months ago that has left me unable to work and Physically disabled (i have had a learning impairment since birth which means i am slower to learn new things which means i am prone to panicking a lot and suffer with my nerves and i live with psoriasis) and i have also since September began to be bullied around my own village by youths who should be more accepting and know better! I am beginning a course of Psychology and Cognitive therapy in 2017 with hope that i'll be better armed to fight further bouts of anxiety, nerves and depression and be back to living life to the full.
6. The Sense of Community: this book is set with a community of characters, each one with their own identity. but we don't get to know them very well as they are only featured at times in this book. i also live in a community myself, one this like the rest of the world but i'd like to think that we're closer than the one in T.J Blake's book as we go the extra mile for one another but also alike that some members keep ourselves to ourselves too. we get instances of the characters in this book interacting with each other at a interpersonal level.
7. Secrets Now i'll start by saying here that everyone has secrets, some secrets can be more shocking and detestful than others. secrets can be kept to both protect a person and harm another person. now we are complex as human beings and can have reasons to keep secrets and to blurt secrets out but this a fine line for us some secrets such as an affair can hurt a person, or such as a person may be keep their health problems to themselves to protect others for fear of upsetting them. above all, however well intentioned there is no such thing as a good secret cos sooner or later it is bound to be found out and again if anyone they haven't got any secrets then they're lying to you again. in this book there are many secrets but i'm afraid you'll read it for yourselves as to find out what they are.
These are all my compelling reasons for why i've given this book a 5 star rating and believe me I was so glad i read this book and did this review and this author is one to watch in years to come and I for one will be keeping a close eye on his books for further titles! T.J. Blake, i was extremely honoured to read and enjoy your book and wish you all the best for your long future as a author!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! It was very well written, told a crazy story with lots of twists and turns and it kept my attention entirely. I read it in just a couple days! If you're looking for an entertaining read and a cleverly composed story with a twist, I highly recommend Deception. I look forward to reading more from TJ Blake!
I don't often read an entire novel in one sitting, but this one kept me turning pages until 2 a.m. The story begins with an excruciatingly detailed description of walking in the words. Extremely, minutely, detailed and I thought, ok, get on with the story already! Then I realized: this was a most central facet of the main character, Bill. It's the first time I have encountered using setting observations as characterization. And it's done brilliantly because Bill's attention to detailed observation is who he is, how he has let it take over how he views his life, and it is how it ultimately fails him, thus leading to this twisted tragedy. His “peeping tom” episodes concerned me tremendously, and initially put me off feeling any sympathy whatsoever for Bill, but they were also an important part of the characterization and understanding the hows and whys of his mental state. His social skills are so depressed that he has difficulty interacting with other people. Fortunately for him, this dreadful inadequacy doesn't extend to canines. He carries on lengthy discussions with his own dog, who adores him, and he gets on well with other dogs. And the other dogs like him as well, so that was a major point in his favor for me. After all, anyone who really knows dogs understand that dogs are almost infallible when it comes to which humans are trustworthy. Almost always... Bill isn't the only “peeping tom”. Other characters made me feel like a ping pong ball as my sympathy for each swung back and forth while they did their own peeking and sneaking around; well, except for one particularly nasty piece of work who enjoyed terrifying everyone else...no sympathy for him, at all, ever. (Boo! Hiss! Hide yer children and dogs from this bully!) I'll wrap this up by returning to the topic of excruciating details. The novel is jam-packed with them, which lends extremely well to the constant misdirection. All of the clues are there, hidden in plain sight. Such a cliché for me to say, but it is indeed very close to “not seeing the forest for the trees”. This has been one of the more difficult reviews for me to write because I've tried to avoid including anything remotely resembling a spoiler. Trust me. Any one of the characters could ultimately be revealed as “the one”. I encourage the reader to take up the book and enjoy the ride or, in this case, the walk through the woods.
I love this book! I am a fan of thrillers and mysteries, (horror too). My favorites are the ones that lead you down the psychological pathway. This author knows how to mess with you. I had a hard time figuring out who was doing what and why. That kept me turning pages until 3 in the morning. The book has two main characters, Billy and Eve, with a few minor characters. They were very well written. I really want to talk more about them but am so afraid of giving away more information than you need. In all honesty, if my review is the first one you are reading than, I would advise you to not read others. Not because I think mine is all you need but because this book is one that you want to go into with the least amount of information. I would suggest you go by synopsis and star rating. Then enjoy all the reviews after you read the book. After you read it, if you want to discuss it send me a message on Goodreads. I would love to talk about it. You have no idea how much I want to say here but won't ruin it for anyone reading this. If you like your book filled with gore and violence this is not your book. If you object to premarital sex, be warned it is in here, (not truly what I would call explicit but the author doesn't shy away from details either). If, however, you like a steady pace, a story that builds as you go along and keeps you guessing as you turn pages, go for it. I made guesses all through the book that kept changing! If you read the book and are on GR, please send me a message. I'm dying to discuss it! Thank you to BookTasters for bringing the book to my attention. The author provided an electronic copy for review consideration. I saw no editing issues in it.
I was quite disappointed in the first half becase the novel got boring but the second half was interesting as the twists started unfolding. Unfortunately, I read this novel, I didn't expriece it. When i read a novel, i expect to live it but this wasn't the case here. The description of the characters were not properly given. The author described even the smallest thing which eventually bored me.
I didn't know who the real psycho was untill the scond half which could have been good but only made me lose interest. There were many times when I expected the protagonist to feel so much in a frustration that it would make me cry but that didn't happen, again a case of bad description.
Despite all this the novel had a great story. The plot twists were really nice and kept me at the edge of my seat. My brain was always filled with a lot of questions and i waited anxiously to get their answers because i just couldn't stop reading.
The thing I loved about this novel is that this story is does not have a happy ending or a sad ending. This story is an experience; a part of life, not the entire life. It tell us that no happen with us, we can and we should always move on.
Walking in the woodlands of Lavingsham Close was a daily routine for Billy Allen and his faithful Springer Spaniel, Ella. Growing up in the area, he knew the woods like the back of his hand, but most importantly, he knew the exact time a beautiful, blue eyed woman named Eve would be walking her dog. He was completely taken by her, everything she did fueled his fantasies. Soon, she was all he thought about, and each day revolved around seeing her. When the opportunity arises, Billy finally meets Eve face to face, and things take off. He thinks that she is everything he has ever wanted in a woman, and for the first time in a long time, things seem to be looking up for him. That is, until a strange man enters the picture and gives Billy a warning that changes everything.
T. J. Blake’s Deception makes you ask yourself how well you know the person you love. It is a memorable read, with dynamic characters, a unique plot, and numerous twists and turns that will keep you guessing. It is truly a book like no other, and will compel you to keep reading.
Yes, he did it again. T. J. Blake knows how to create a subtle feeling of thrill in a reader's mind. This book introduces you to Billy Allen and his dog Ella. Ella is adorable, and Billy... You need to find out about Billy yourself.
With Deception: A Love of Lies, T. J. Blake has once again created a story of normal surroundings with a mysterious character; he might be mad, and he might be sane. Similar to the case of Schroedinger's cat - you can only find out if you read this book. It is a compelling read, drawing you into Billy's house. T. J. Blake knows how to keep you glued to the story, in dire need of finding out who/what Billy really is. Billy and Eve are quite complex, despite the mixed emotions I had about them. The story comprises authentic characters, interesting turns, and has a good flow.
This is a book for you if you like suspense stories with characters who might turn out every which way, and a subtle creepiness.
Whew! what a story. I was tense all the way through, waiting to see what was going to happen next. I haven't read many "thrillers" which accurately fit that description, many are just an excuse for violence, but this psychological thriller gave me the shivers. A very enjoyable read by an author I hadn't experienced before and whose works I will want to seek out again. If you want an incredible fright of a book this is the one. My only recommendation is don't read it in the dark! I was offered a copy of this book in return for a review and I have to say it was a very rewarding exchange.
I have reviewed a couple of books by T.J. Blake and this one was just what I expected from this talented author. Once again, Blake has created complex characters and a story full of twists and turns. However, even though I found the book riveting in a variety of ways, it did start off slow in the beginning. It's understood with any novel that characters have to be developed, but I think the process took a couple of chapters too long this time. However, the book is very good and worth reading. Congrats again Mr. Blake!
I absolutely love thrillers so this book was perfect for me! It doesn't follow the pattern of being gory and violent like a lot of thrillers but still throws in plenty of surprises! I love the way that Blake writes as it just makes the book such a page turner that I didn't want to end! I will 100% be reading more of his books as I love the way the characters are presented and how the story unfolds!
Could not recommend this book enough, I loved it! It's got a great storyline which keeps you gripped throughout and characters that you can't wait to find out more about. I don't want to say too much about the story line as I don't want to ruin it - but if you love a thriller with a great twist..get reading!
Deception was a disturbing read, in the best way possible! The main character was scary at first, but once you get to know him and his ways, you begin to understand him. Despite the book not being in my first language (Spanish) it was very easy to read. It had very accurate descriptions and few characters, so it was not difficult to follow the plot with no parallel stories. I recommend it!
A well written book with twists along the storyline. Very descriptive, will make you feel like you're in the woods with the main character Billy. Look forward to more from this author.
Deception is told entirely through the first person narrative of creepy loner Billy, who spends his days, and sometimes nights, wandering through the local woods with his dog Ella, spying out the signs that tell him all about the other woodland visitors - of both the animal and human varieties. At first he seems quite harmless, but it is not long before his true colours begin to show. Billy develops an obsession with a young woman who also visits the woods to walk her dog, going as far as to follow her around and take photographs of her that he displays on his living room wall as some kind of disturbing shrine.
As the story goes on, we come to learn something of the lonely, maladjusted life he lives all alone in his bungalow, following the death of his wife, as he drinks himself into a stupor while ruminating on their time together. His creepy antics aside, it seems that there may be some hope for him to redeem himself as he begins a relationship with Eve, the young woman he has been stalking, but as their romance develops, things start to go seriously awry. It seems that deception is tied up in both their stories, and the truth, when it comes, is truly bizarre.
I have to say this this is one seriously creepy story, narrated in unsettling detail by Christopher Pizzey as he clearly has a lot of fun ramping up all the harrowing vibes as Billy. Billy's behaviour is deeply troubling and at times it is very difficult to listen as he describes himself watching from the shadows and expressing his innermost thoughts. At first, you find yourself worrying for the safety of Eve, but soon realise that she is just as damaged as Billy - if not more so - and the tale warps unexpectedly into a twisted parody of a love story that has them locked together in a claustrophobic relationship from which they seem powerless to escape. However, I cannot go into more detail for risk of spoiling the eerie surprises!
There were lots of things I enjoyed about this one, especially the way the the story flips how you feel about the characters completely, but I did find it a bit slow at times, screwing every last ounce out the tense atmosphere to the point where it was almost unbearable - and I think you really do need to suspend your disbelief perhaps a bit much to come to terms with how the tricky situation Billy gets himself into ultimately resolves itself. The themes are nicely layered though, bringing in obsession, guilt, childhood trauma, and the legacy of violent relationships, and intriguingly you do find yourself unexpectedly rooting for Billy, despite his quirks, as you begin to understand what has shaped him into the man he has become - and his relationship with his dog Ella is very touching, showing that he is capable of more.
If you are looking for something a bit off-beat to set your spine tingling, enjoy the kind of psychological thriller that draws you in, messes with your head and gives you a visceral chill, and you don't mind a story that strays a little into the absurd, then there is certainly a lot here to pique your sinister interest - not one to listen to a night and alone though!
From the opening sentences an atmosphere is created. There’s no direct malice or anything to suggest that something sinister is there but there’s a gentle discomfort that I couldn’t shake and it sets the tone perfectly. Every single detail of the woodland areas is vividly described including smells and sounds and because it was an audio book. I closed my eyes and I was there, like an unwanted and unseen guest. The characters are written in such manner that it feels very intimate as the reader gets to know them, mainly because of the narrations and the perspective we learn about them from. It feels like an intrusion into their privacy and cleverly, assumptions are made that are constantly questioned and changed throughout the book. Billy is the narrator (point of view) and I felt a varying degree of emotions as I read. He loved his wife and desperately misses her but there’s something not quite right with the way he goes about things. I was constantly torn between sympathy and emotion but also often being perturbed by him. The plot is so surprising and twisty and in place, disturbing. The blurb is cleverly vague so I had no idea at all which direction the story would go but it was not where I anticipated at all. It’s a superb study of humans and trust – and just how much we ever really know anyone. Massive mention to Christopher Pizzey too for his brilliant and atmospheric narration. His voice has a smooth and calm quality that I could listen to for hours but also provided the perfect vehicle for this atmospheric story. He even managed to portray the atmosphere in his narration beautifully. An excellent psychological thriller that is full of the unexpected.
I have read Deception by T.J Blake and I like it so much. He has a unique style of writing with a lot of details. His rich descriptions create such vivid images in your mind so reading his book is like watching a movie. The story is suspenseful with many twists and so compelling that I had some short night’s sleep. I have a strong compulsion to discuss the different plots but I will not do it because it would obviously ruin the suspense of the story. I have to say though, that there are few characters. Their personalities are complex with a bit of psychological disorders so we don’t know how to feel about them. The book is written in the first person, which usually means a better understanding of the main character. Yet the personality of Bill the protagonist remains mysterious all along the novel. I couldn’t guess his reactions or understand his behavior which adds to the suspense. His relationship with his dog Ella is touching. There is beautiful a connexion between them. Overall, I have enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it strongly to the lovers of suspenseful psychological thrillers.
An unusual novel, full of possibilities that never quite develop. There is an atmosphere of tension throughout, a feeling of something about to explode but it never quite does.
A man lives alone in despair after the death of his pregnant wife. He meets someone new and feels ready to start his life again, but who is she? What is her secret? And what does she want with him? When she moves into his house in the woods, it seems certain that all will be revealed, but what is the truth?
The story arc is strange in this book, which takes a long time to get going. The first half is very slow, while the second has jumps of a month here, three months there, giving an uneven feel. The setting is a remote location that could be anywhere. At times this feels supernatural, but the emotional play is all too ]human.
Deception- A Love Of Lies by T J Blake I had the pleasure of having a copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review. I absolutely loved every second of this book. It was a roller coaster. At the beginning of the book, I was very unsure about it. This was probably due to the fact I was reading a book with a similar setting at the time. In order not to get confused that book has been put aside. Once I was able to focus this was incredible. Every word had been chosen carefully to have the biggest impact. My mind was continuously thinking, theorising and analysing the actions and reactions of each character. It was everything and more than expected. Each character had so much thought behind it. Not only was it amazingly immersive it was suspenseful and a little chilling.
If you have not read it yet I suggest you, do it is brilliant.
Billy lost his wife Cindy and lives alone with his dog Ella. Every morning he takes a walk through the woods with his dog, where he meets Eve. They soon begin to see each other and Billy is confused at times, wondering how similar Eve is to Cindy. Eve too has a struggled past.
Can't reveal more without giving spoilers. This is an interesting read. What drew me in is the rich descriptions that painted the image clearly in my mind. Sometimes, I was able to feel it. It felt as if I was in that place with the characters. I enjoyed the writing style.
It's the first time I am reading a book that's written from the male point of view and it's a different experience, in a good way. Back to the plot - Hats off to author Blake for writing such a hooking plot. It's hard to trust or suspect anyone. Both Billy and Eve has troubled past. While Billy comes off as a stalker in the initial chapters, Eve isn't any less. She too stalks him.
The way both get together fast roused a suspicion in my mind. Sometimes, I even wondered if either of them had a motive. However, the questions were answered in the later chapters and I loved the twist with Leo.
Billy portrays a lonely male, struggling to cope with the loss of his wife. He doesn't have a friendly relation with his neighbours. He likes to observe the woods and walking. Eve, likewise, introduced as a lonely female, who got off from an abusive relationship. Trying to live every day with her dog Bussy. She likes to walk and get lost.
The plot will keep you hooked and for most of the time it'll keep you wondering what'd happen next. That was what I liked most. I highly recommend Deception. I look forward to read more from this author.

I haven't read a psychological thriller in years, and Deception was a great re-introduction to the genre! This novel was an easy read, and kept me engaged and curious the whole time. I found the main character, Billy, to fluctuate from good guy to bad guy from chapter to chapter, and I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about him until I read the entire book. Full of suspense and plot twists, this book had great character development, descriptive scenes (spent a lot of time in the forest, and that was really cool!), and mystery. I was thoroughly impressed with the author's ability to write such a compelling tale. Great writing style, brilliant execution of dialogue in the text, and an overall enjoyable book!
I really enjoyed this book, and devoured it in just a couple of days on holiday. Blake's writing really made me feel as though I was experiencing the story alongside the characters - the twists and turns are fantastic, and I loved their development throughout. I'll definitely be reading more of his work, and can't wait to see what he comes up with next. If you like a thriller or some mystery, then I would definitely recommend. This book had me thinking about it long after I'd put it down.
This is the first book I've read by the author and it's a brilliantly written psychological thriller and found myself hooked on from the beginning.
I was lucky enough to receive an audio book and I throughly enjoyed it. The story is full of suspense with twists and turns. My favourite part is the descriptive scenes in the forest.
Another plus point of this story is the simplicity of the writing style and the depth the author had given to the characters.
This is definitely an enjoyable book and I highly recommend.
I really enjoy it. This was an audiobook and the narrator did a great job in presenting the story. It was very spooky hearing it though. I enjoyed the story as well. This story kept you in suspense and interested in the mystery that was developed. T.J. Blake did another great job in this story as well.
