Infamous Rough Riders’ playboy Grant Saber has been sidelined for a bum shoulder. If he has to be off the ice for three weeks of recovery, he‘ll do it on his back—breaking in a new wanna-be cowgirl every night. But pressure from the team’s owner and Grant’s parents land him in his hometown of Holly, North Carolina instead. Things look up when he learns the hometown beauty who was once so out of his league is now single, and sexier than ever. Determined to slip in a night with her while he’s in town, Grant is shocked to discover one will never be enough.

Faith Nicholas has no interest in the newest Saber-son gossip. After losing her father just months before, she is now on the verge of losing their family hardware store—which is also her home. She couldn’t care less about the Saber’s big money or flashy toys. But she can’t seem to keep Grant out of her store--or her dreams. His magnetic charisma is impossible to ignore, and the longer he stays in town, the more she finds to love about a man who isn’t as superficial as he’d like others to believe.

With a struggling store, four-hundred miles and a rigorous hockey season looming between them, Grant will have to pull out his very best moves if he’s going to make this quick trick last forever.

"I'm yours right here, right now," he said, breathing hard from the restraint he used to remain still. "Own me, Faith."

QUICK TRICK was previously titled HOME ADVANTAGE and was included in the ALL HE WANTS FOR CHRISTMAS anthology that was released last December. Skye Jordan wanted to release it on its own so the title has been reworked and just a couple of tidbits were changed.

Grant Saber is a professional hockey player for the Washington D.C. Rough Riders. He has been out of commission for a little while due to a shoulder injury. He's come home during the Christmas holiday to the town of Holly to spend some time with his family. He's not very close with them but was guilted into coming home by his mother.

During his first night back, he runs into the beautiful hardware shop owner, Faith Nicholas. He remembers her from High School but at the time he was not considered one of the popular kids and she was dating the HS quarterback. What he doesn't know is that she ended up dropping out of college after her first year because her father became ill and her boyfriend quickly dumped her after that. It's been about a year since her father passed away and she's been running the family hardware store.

Grant tries to put the moves on her but Faith is not biting. This throws him for a loop. He's used to getting his way and any woman he wants. He finds Faith intoxicating and refreshing. Grant pursues Faith relentlessly. Will she be able to resist or will she fall into a puddle of goo over this Hottie? Can Faith get the Playboy to change his ways??

4.5 - "Real trouble just blew in." Stars!

I actually read Quick Trick back when it was called Home Advantage and was part of the 2015, All He Wants For Christmas Anthology. I loved it then, and to say the Skye 'souped' up the sexy in Grant and Faith’s story in this extended version would be an understatement.

Grant Saber upped and left the small town of Holly firmly in his wing mirrors when he became a professional Ice Hockey player, now back in town for an extended visit after a shoulder injury puts him out of the game to recover, nothing seems to have really changed in the eight years he has been away. His family is still dysfunctional, his brothers pretty aloof to his existence, the town still as small and close-knit as it ever was.

"I know a good thing when I see it."

One thing that has changed and that’s the management of St. Nicholas Hardware so when he turns up just before the stores supposed closing time one evening to collect the family Christmas tree, the last thing he expects to find is that Faith Nicholas is still in Holly, and has now taken over the running of the store after her father’s death the previous year.

"When you’re ready… call me. For a drink, dinner, dessert. Call me for… anything… you need."

The banter and chemistry between this pair was snow-meltingly hot from the get-go, one of them is stuck in town, while the other can’t wait to get away again, the situation between them less than ideal, and although Faith is a tad on the reluctant side to explore their connection, it doesn’t take long for Grant to dirty-talk his way into her underwear.

"Getting this tiny glimpse of your sexy side makes me want all kinds of other things. Things I haven’t wanted in years… things I may never have wanted. Things that turn me inside out."

There is a little drama with the interference of a few secondary characters as the story progresses, but nothing that reached any level of annoyance. I loved the mini introduction we are given to a few of Grant’s other Rough Riders team members in the latter stages of the book as well, it teases the reader in relation to getting to know them all better in the future books.

Another bonus about the series is that the author is set to release a new book monthly upto the end of the year –

Quick Trick -- September 12, 2016
Hot Puck -- October 3, 2016
Dirty Score -- November 7, 2016
Wild Zone -- December 5, 2016

So as a reader, I know I am going to get a little sexy Hockey Player action to keep me warm until Christmas!

Grant Saber lives in D.C. & is a hockey player for the NHL. He plays as a center for The Rough Riders. He grew up in a small town called Holly, North Carolina. After he injures his shoulder & is put on medical leave, he decides to go home for the holidays. This will be his first visit back home since he went pro. While he's home he plans to help out the kids at his local high school with their hockey skills.

Grant hasn't always been that close to his parents, and they haven't been supportive of his hockey career. When his mom sends him out for a Christmas tree late one night he wants to please her, & heads out to find the perfect tree. He crosses paths with a girl he went to high school with named Faith Nicholas. Faith was always the beautiful , blonde girl next door type, but she is now even more breathtaking. Since her dad passed away she has taken over the family hardware store. Grant gives it his all flirting with Faith, & his usual charm doesn't seem to work. Faith could care less about his celebrity status, but eventually she can't resist him anymore & things heat up between them. They both start to have feelings for one another but live such different lives. She's a small town girl, & he's a high profile guy, but when you find love you will do anything to hold onto it!

I really enjoyed this story. Quick Trick was previously released under the title Home Advantage & was part of a Christmas anthology called All He Wants For Christmas. The story has never been published independently. It has now been rewritten some & expanded.

I am a sucker for a hockey hottie! And when a playboy falls hard for a small town girl – even better!

We meet Grant Saber, an NHL player on the Rough Riders team. After running through women like water, he decides to head home for Christmas to get away from DC. What he didn’t expect to find was Faith.

“He’d never had to work so hard to get something so simple in his entire life. But the zing he felt all through his body when they really connected was well worth the effort.”

Faith was steering clear of men. She had enough on her plate with keeping her dad’s hardware store up and running. But she didn’t expect an undeniable chemistry with a man she shouldn’t want.

“I talk as dirty as I fight, and I fuck as hard as I play.”

And damn it was HOT!! This story had it all! It was steamy, sexy, silly, and sad. It had love, friendship, and laughter. I adored Grant, especially the way he was with Faith. And I loved Faith and her sassiness. I look forward to many more hot hockey stories in this series! ~ Tiffany, 4 stars

Once again we're treated to a sweet and sexy read from one of my favorite authors, Skye Jordan. Quick Trick introduces us to the sinfully delightful hero Grant Saber, local boy who's made it big in the hockey rink. He's returned home to Holly, NC for the holidays, to rest and recuperate after a shoulder injury has left him sidelined. Coming back after being gone for so long wasn't an easy decision for Grant, but once he runs into town sweetheart Faith Nicholas, he comes to realize home might not be that bad of a place to be.

I really loved Faith and Grant. She's had a rough go of it since high school, helping her father run the local hardware store, and then with his death running it on her own. Grant has his work cut out for him when it comes to Faith- she's not one of the wanna-be Rider Girls, she doesn't even know who he is! But the more time they spend together the more he starts to really care about her- and that's what really did me in...he's so thoughtful, supportive, and considerate with her, a complete doll! Watching these 2 fall in love, even while they fought it and tried to deny it, was just so freaking sweet. They complement each other so perfectly, two people that are truly made for each other.

Quick Trick is a sexy, heartfelt, feel good start to a new series, and I'm really looking forward to meeting more of the Rough Riders!

Rating: 5*

Trope: Festive, Sport

Chemistry: Off the charts Scorchio

One-Sentence Summary: An injured hockey player falls in love with a small-town girl

Review: I can't believe it has taken me so long to discover this author!!!! I mean, wow.

This book was a little bit of perfect from the festive setting to some excellent UST and likeable characters. I loved that Faith didn't know who Grant was and even when she did, his fame didn't impress her. It was funny to see how that frustrated him. I liked how there was a touch of arrogance with Grant's reaction to that but how he proved himself to be a good guy over and over again. The biggest thing I loved was that there was that slow, sexy build-up and they didn't jump into bed together at the first opportunity.

And of course the best thing about discovering a new author is the fact that there are a dozen books left to indulge in..... Thank you Father Christmas!

Jordan wrote a nice little story called Home Advantage in the anthology 'All I Want For Christmas'. It was a warm, humorous small town love story. It was actually my fav of the stories I read in the anthology.

This is that same novella updated; if your idea of updating a story is to throw in a whole bunch of gratuitous and repetitive sex scenes, slapping on a new title, and re-releasing to make more $.

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

4.5 stars

*Reviewers note: Quick Trick was released last year in an anthology What He Wants for Christmas under the name Home Advantage. The book has been expanded from its novella length, the characters developed more, and some of the names have been changed but it is still a sweet, sexy and enjoyable romance.

NHL hockey star Grant Saber returns home for the Christmas holidays while rehabbing a shoulder injury. He isn't all that happy to be home as his relationship with his family is a strained and complicated one, but when he is sent to pick up the family's Christmas tree and sees Faith Nicholas again after so many years he begins to think being back in Holly might not be so bad.

At first Grant came off as a bit of an entitled a$$, but the more time he spent in town the more his real personality came out. We see that he is kind, considerate and caring and despite his celebrity likes helping the people he cares about. While a bit cocky and confused as to why Faith hasn't brought up his celebrity status, he enjoys visiting Faith's hardware store while working on little projects around his parent's home. I liked that Faith intrigued him, that she wasn't fawning over him as he was use to and that he appreciated her work ethic and spunky attitude.

While Faith was attracted to Grant she wasn't interested in being just another notch on his bedpost, but with his daily visits to her store for supplies she became more interested in him, began to see all his layers and grew to understand that underneath his overconfident attitude was a pretty good guy.

Their romance was not without issues; Faith was a bit insecure about Grant's past womanizing and Grant knew he'd have to return to his team soon but the passion between them burned brightly and the more time the spent together it became evident they had something pretty special going on.

With the Christmas season as a backdrop, a bit of small town hockey thrown in for good measure, and a whirlwind romance Quick Trick was extremely enjoyable.

There are no guarantees with life. The one constant is change. Whether good or bad change is inevitable. How a person adapts to it, is what shows strength of character. Quick Trick delivers a full course of nostalgia with a side dish of flames. Youth makes life seem so simple, but as we grow into adulthood, we discover just how complicated things can get. Faith was the "It" girl on campus, she got good grades, dated the most popular guy and made it look easy. With her school girl days in the past, her shine has lost it's luster. Struggling to keep her business afloat and bounce back from a broken heart and an upsetting loss, she's at the end of her rope. Grant was the guy with a difficult home life but hockey saved him from small town living and the pressures of home. Injury brings him face to face with the past and sets him on the path to his future. Quick Trick has maturity making it a more subtle romance but it speaks to the heart. The message is there in bright shining headlights: HOME IS WHEREVER THE HEART LEADS YOU!

Grant Saber now an NHL superstar, was always the invisible kid back in high school in his hometown of Holly, North Carolina. Invisible to his peers, his siblings, even his parents. Nobody saw who he was and what he was capable of becoming except maybe his high school coach. 10 years later, forced off the bench to recover from an injury, he finds himself back in Holly, and not so invisible anymore except to maybe Faith Nicholas, the most popular girl back in high school. Only she’s not the same girl he knew back then. Single and solitary, focused on trying to save her late father’s legacy, St. Nicholas Hardware. She doesn’t suck up to his celebrity status like everyone else. What follows is his hilarious pursuit of Faith and her equally hilarious brush-offs until he realizes that there is more to her than just her pretty face.

I loved this book and can see it being a great series. I loved the interactions between Grant and Faith from the very start.
Grant Saber returns to his hometown while recuperating from a shoulder injury. Here, he meets Faith Nicholas, the owner of the hardware store where he is sent to retrieve his mother's Christmas tree. Grant is used to getting what he wants, but Faith resists him at every turn, so he sets about trying to win her over.
Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I had read this as part of an anthology last year. There has been some sprucing up and more detail added. Loved it in the anthology and it was great to visit the town of Holly once again. I had hoped after reading it the first time, Skye would give us more of the the hot hockey players introduced in this story. Yeah!! She feeds her fans!! Looking forward to more of the team getting their HEA. Thank you for seeing a need to kick off a new series! <3

Quick Trick is the first book of the Rough Riders Hockey series and it will definitely not be my last. I am a huge fan of sports romance and it's hockey season so this book was a no brainer for me. That being said I've never read anything written by Skye Jordan so this was a completely new experience for me. Skye did an amazing job of writing this book in a way that set it apart from the typical cocky jock turned lovesick fool storyline.

Grant Saber suffered an injury that sent him home to get in some charity work while he recuperated. For some this would be a welcome break but Grant and his family don't exactly see eye to eye leaving this visit anything but warm and fuzzy.

Faith Nicholas was doing everything in her power to stay afloat in the absence of her dad. She stayed by his side and took care of him until he took his last breath and now she wants nothing more than to keep the family business running and do him proud. The problem is between the economy and being only one person she's fighting a losing battle.

Grant and Faith were so fun to read. When Grant came back to town and immediately set his sights on Faith I was smitten with him. Faith not so much. She was way too busy for any romantic entanglements and definitely not interested in a fling with one of the infamous "throw-their-money-around, love 'em and leave 'em" Saber boys. But, Grant didn't give up and Faith eventually opened her eyes to all that was Grant and what he had to offer.

Both characters were strong in their own right, but Faith definitely cornered the market in sheer will. When she finally let her guard down a bit and accepted help it was a huge turn for the entire story. I laughed so much with this couple. Grant was funny and persistent not to mention as sexy as heck.

If I had to pick one thing that could definitely be improved upon it's the fact that hockey was not mentioned much at all in this book. I get it since Grant was home getting over an injury and not in the midst of a season or his teammates, but I missed the antics and tough love between the team that I often read in sports romance.

I can not say enough about this book and can't wait to read more in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of Quick Trick in exchange for an honest review. Total disclaimer, Skye Jordan is my favorite new author, and I can't get enough.

Quick Trip did not disappoint. Even the famous athlete storyline which I usually cringe at worked in this novella.
Jordan has a way of creating great dialogue between the characters which made me feel the chemistry between Grant and Faith. Faith wasn't going to be an easy conquest, and I really enjoyed seeing Grant have to work at building a relationship. This made the happily ever after that much sweeter.

I can't wait to keep reading more from Jordan.

I enjoyed Faith and Grant’s story. It was straightforward even though Faith played hard to get for a bit too long in a book setting for me.

Returning to his hometown Grant is immediately attracted to Faith who he remembered from high school. She didn’t remember him and didn’t know he was a hotshot hockey player, although when she finds out she isn’t exactly star struck.

Faith is trying to keep her father’s hardware store in the black and that takes up all her energy until her defences crumble. Once that happens the heat is on and neither can get enough of the other.

A fast read with some spice!

Grant, star hockey player, is home for the holidays to recover from an injured shoulder. While he is home, he helps coach his old high school hockey team. Faith gave up anything to take care of her dad. When he died, she took over his hardware store and she is struggling to keep it open.
Faith keeps Grant at arms length, but gradually lets him in. Nice story about someone who was hurt, grieving and someone who needed a shift in priorities.

It was like a mix of first and third person. Each chapter switch with Faith and Grant but I don’t think it was 2nd person. Overall pretty average hockey romance. He was pretty like wow I’m great but then falls in love with faith after 2 weeks and realizes he hasn’t been living the life he wants to live.

This book should’ve been longer. It was all romance and no Justice for either MC. We kept getting how complicated Grant’s relationship with his parents/family was but never got any true conversation or resolution. The whole point of Faith working so hard was to not lose her dad’s shop and be left with nothing, but then is so quick to leave to follow Grant to DC in the end? I did read this book half asleep so may have missed some stuff but I don’t remember reading it

This was a freebie at the end of Riptide. It was a great teaser for Rough Riders series.

I absolutely loved Grant, even though I wanted to hit him over the head a lot. He was super hot. All alpha male and I like the whole dominance in the bedroom without the heavy BDSM acts.

Faith was a great female lead. Strong and determined but soft and sensitive.

I can't wait to read book 2!!!!
