C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.
At the moment, Ms. Gockel is working on the next installment of her Archangel Project series.

all books are parts of series they are loss leaders to get you to buy more.
The books themselves are interesting and fun to read but the intent is obviously to hook you into a story and then pay a higher price for the rest of series. I feel that this is a very poor marketing ploy. Lets be honest and let readers know in advance that they are expected to buy more to finish the stories. I frequently buy series and follow ongoing series from authors I like but anthologies like this strike me as a scam and think the methodology is disgusting.
This is a wonderful set of books for anyone that loves mythology. Each author in their own right is a great author and have extreme imagination when it comes to their stories. I have read a few of the authors before but some of them are new to me and I can not wait to read the rest of the series that were started in this collection.
Wolves (I Bring the Fire #1) by C. Gockel I love how the author shows Loki's mischievous side here instead of his mean side. Loki apparently gets stuck in a non magic area here on earth, and he has a hard time getting use to certain things. I can't wait to read the next book in the series
The Hunted One (End of Days #1) by Meg Collett Really slow on the start for me and in some areas drug on to the point where I had to put the book down, don't get me wrong I liked the book but it wasn't one that pulled me in and kept me. This is the first book I have read from this author and I will be giving her another chance with one of her other series at a later date
Way of the Wolf (Shifter Legacies) by Mark E. Cooper Holy cow, what a excellent book, it has so much action in it. At first it was a little confusing because the author has so many key characters he splits things up in different chapters, but eventually they all come together for a explosive ending. I totally can not wait to read the next book
Eros (Olympiana #1) by Helen Harper Short story where the writer puts a modern twist on the story of Cupid. I love how the author gave the mythical characters new personalities which are more common with this day and age. Definitely worth the read !!
I definitely will be going back to read the rest of the stories after I clear out some of my other reading of shorter books.
Here are all the books and I'll add review as I go:
Wolves (I Bring the Fire #1) by C. Gockel This was a stellar start. Loved Loki and his adventures. I also liked the history behind (being bit of a Norse Mythology nerd, esp.). The way he used Thor's identity and played games on everyone was so much fun to read. I will try to see if I can get the next book in the series. And honestly I'm not even mad about the author trying to bait us like this.
The Hunted One (End of Days #1) by Meg Collett Started but it isn't moving very fast. I am not a huge fan of angels/demons plots normally. We shall see how it goes.
Way of the Wolf (Shifter Legacies) by Mark E. Cooper
Eros (Olympiana #1) by Helen Harper
Stopping it now.... not excited about continuing. Will look up the wolves series to see if I can continue.
This is a great set of books for those who love mythology. There are some great authors and very imaginative stories. I have read some of them authors before but also discovered some new ones which is the great thing with these sets.
I really liked the fact that many of the authors included stories featuring strong female characters. I get tired of all the female characters with so much self doubt and enjoy reading about women who are strong and determined and powerful.
There are plenty of surprises and new takes on old legends that you really get quite an experience reading the stories.
BLOOD DEBT by Nancy Straight Wow, this story was extremely interesting and kept my interest up. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books that follow this one. I would never have thought of Centaurs being totally human and the entire concept of how they live and who they are was unique. Their rituals and customs, although very old fashion, did not really appear to be out of place except to Camille. But that is because she was not raised in their society but as a human. She struggles a lot throughout the story as she loses her mother and goes from a family of 2 to a family of 8.
The story is full of adventure and mystery. It is fast paced. I was kept on the edge of my chair with some of the things that happened. The characters were very real and you could not help but fall in love with the characters. I especially loved how Bianca became Camille’s friend and helped her. You also find that Will and Gretchen are both such protective parents even with Camille who they just accepted into their family. By the end of the book, you finally understand why Camille’s mother hid them both away. Well worth reading.
I Bring The Fire Part 1 by C. Gockel I was very surprised and delighted by the story line. Not knowing a lot about Norse Mythology, always got lost in the names, did not prevent me from enjoying this book. Of course I have some knowledge about other mythologies and very familiar with the Trickster, especially in Native American mythology. But reading this story, I was totally able to relate to the mythology part which was very interesting to me. I often felt like Amy when Loki said some things.
From the moment, I started reading I was captured by the story line. Often you start a book because it sounds good in the write up or review and you just cannot get into it. Not this book, from page 1, I was totally enthralled and wanting to know what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed how the author developed the relationship between Loki and Amy. Beatrice was a very nice touch to the story, she kept the plot alive and filled in a lot of the gaps for both Amy and the reader, very nice touch. I am a big fan of THIS LOKI.
The Wild Hunt by Ron Neito I was very surprised by this book and totally enjoyed it. I am not sure what I was expecting at the beginning but as it progressed, it only got better and better. I knew nothing about Kelpies and it was fun to read about this, new to me, mythical creature. The story was one that kept the reader interested in what was going to happen. To see Lily struggle with modern ideas and folklore was exciting, there were times I wanted to shout at her, “open your eyes and use your head”. There were other times where I was just as taken off guard as she was. That, to me, makes a good story one where I think I know what will happen and sometimes I am right while other times, I am not right. I know that I plan to read the rest of books because I am very curious to see what happens to Lily and Troy.
ELSKER by S. T. Bende I am really beginning to enjoy Norse mythology and while some names are well known, Ull was a new god to me. It was fun seeing how this author intertwined myth with fiction. I was immediately hooked. The characters are real and the situations that happen are so normal. It is not easy to mix our current urban lifestyle with ancient myth and make it work, but this book certainly does.
A strong female character is always a plus for me when reading. She is actually a real person that you could actually meet on the street which contributes so much to the storyline. I really enjoyed Ull and Kristia budding relationship and how she is strong enough and he is not able take her over. I love that here is a girl who was always overlooked but when a good-looking boy starts to take an interest in her, she doesn’t fall apart and remains true to herself.
THINGS UNSEEN by C.J. Brightley This story was very interesting, almost apocalyptic but with a paranormal touch. By the end of it, I was so enthralled that I know that I will be reading the next book in this series. It was very well written and at times, very scary. What if this could really happen? The world becoming one Empire under one government and not one for the people. I really enjoyed Aria and Owen together, they seem to be drawn to each other but neither of them really knows why. They are both enigmas and I am curious to see if they are less so as the story goes on.
I Bring the Fire - C. Gockel Amy Lewis has a plan to get to her grandmother's house in time for dinner. Loki knows he has forgotten something but has no idea what it is just that he is trapped in the mortal world. Can they join forces to defeat the gods, elves and neighbours or will Loki be distracted by technology, boobs and alcoholic benders.
Great story that made me laugh out loud at times. Well written and definitely worth considering reading the rest of the series (this is the first book in it).
Chosen - Christine Pope A fatal illness wipes out most of the population of earth - just when the survivors think the worst is over they have to handle the next development.7 A nice story. Reasonably written.
The Hunted One - Meg Collett Archangel Michaela has had his wings removed in disgrace when he discovers that the Angels have a lan for Heaven that may a step too far and irrevocable. Nicely written. Reasonable story that I enjoyed
Things Unseen - C.J. Brightley Aria Forsyth is drawn into the confict between human and inhuman and has to handle the differences between them all and try not to be involved in it. Nice story that was pleasant to read.
Way of the Wolf - Mark E. Cooper Dr David Lephmann helps a shifter and find himself in a different world containing violence and mistrust. Nice story with plenty of action and drama.
Eros - Helen Harper The Greek god of Love and the human who caught his heart - Eros is a contemporary re-telling of the myth of Cupid and Psyche. I enjoyed this and found it quite clever in the way it was written and the way the story unfolded.
The Wild Hunt - Ron Nieto Lily was meant to become a faerie doctor, disbelief and pragmatism led her away from the hidden world. She will be forced to face the truth, and the fae, if she wants to save her family. Lots of drama and action in this lovely story.
A Demon Bound - Debra Dunbar Sam is an imp, on vacation from Hell, but when she's blackmailed into tracking a rogue angel, her vacation, and possibly her life, might be over. Great story that I enjoyed.
Vampire Addiction - Eva Pohler A New York teen studies abroad in Athens and discovers that vampires are real, and unwittingly becomes a catalyst to an uprising led by god. Lots of drama and intrigue in this clever story.
Valkyrie's Vengeance - Melissa Snark When children are abducted, Victoria, priestess of the Valkyrie, must work with her worst enemy to rescue them. Pleasant story that didn't set my world on fire but was enjoyable.
The Blue Rose - Lola St. Vil The most powerful Angel that ever lived and the dangerous demon who holds her heart. Great story that had a nice contrast between angels and demons and the torture of a forbidden love.
Elsker - S.T. Bende Kristia Tostenson just found out her new boyfriend is the Norse God of Winter -an immortal assassin destined to die at Ragnarok. Wow - amazing story that I enjoyed a great deal.
Blood Debt - Nancy Straight Camille discovers a family she never dreamed of and a world that should not exist. Enjoyable story that was nice to read and very enjoyable.

I loved all of the stories in this set but my fav would have to be The Wild Hunt
Deze recensie is in het Engels omdat ik het boek las in het Engels.
From the thirteen novels most of them end in a cliffhanger. If you don't like these like me don't read this box. With every book I hoped the next one wouldn't have a cliffhanger again. Only two of the books didn't end with a cliffhanger.
There were some nice books in this set, even two I now certainly want to read more from their series. All kinds of beings came along in the books, Greek and Norse Gods, elves, demons, werewolves, centaurs, angels and more. One book I already read before and I love that one and have all the series from this writer. Another one I found out I had also read before. The other books were new to me.
I purchased this book because C Gockel was one of the authors in the collection and her series, I Bring the Fire, was fantastically brilliant so I figured there was a chance I would find good books in this collection. After reading the first book I realized that I wouldn’t need to concern myself with searching for what to read next for a very long time. First, it’s a collection of 12 books. Then because I got so attached to the characters in the first book by Christine Pope I had to read the next 4 books in the her series. The same thing happened with CJ Archer and Stacy Claflin and Kyoto M and Becca Mills. So many good authors.
This is a huge collection (over 6ooo pages on my reader). As such it varies greatly in quality. It leans heavily into YA so if coming of age stories or teen angst is not your cup of tea, this probably isn't for you. Many of the stories just stop. Followed by an ad to buy the next in the series. To me this is sloppy writing/editing and manipulating the reader. Good writers can craft stories with satisfying endings and still have the reader eagerly awaiting the next book.
This has hands down been the best compilation I've read. I have found some many awesome new authors to read. And I loved almost all of the books included in this set. I was blow away by how many of these stories I fell in love with. This is absolutely a great investment for anyone that enjoys urban fiction!
I love boxed sets and this set was very good and exciting. All 13 books in this set had me hooked and wanting more. It took me a long time to complete but that was because I had to read the other books in the series of the first books included in this set before I continued on to the next book. If you like Urban Mythic this is for you.
An absolute cracking collection of books!! There is every type of story in here with amazing characters and storylines, from romance and adventure to crazy and unpredictable. Every one opens the opportunity for new series addictions...likely a set marked for a re-read in the future!
While I have read a couple of these already, they are good enough to re-read , and I found some new authors to follow!! Definitely Recommend this Box-Set!!!
I know everybody's not the same but I just didn't seem to care for this book. I read probably half of it I read the full story at the beginning and then started on the second and just decided I didn't like it.
I really liked the assortment of fantasy books. It’s not a common genre for me, so this offered a great chance to try it out. All of the authors were good storytellers. A few were masterful. Hope you enjoy them too!
Even though this was a series of first books,it demanded none stop attention. Each book stood alone, but left the reader with a desire to search out the rest of the story. Read this set and be amazed
Fun group of books, seemingly aimed at the young adult market and of course at any sci-fantasy geek, regardless of age. Several authors with varying degrees of storytelling skills but all with a fabulous reimagining of ancient myths from disparate cultures. Big bang (over 3000 pages) for your buck.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
