Traditionally a domme is defined as a female dominant in a BDSM relationship, but dommes are found in all types of couples―heterosexual and lesbian―and exert their dominance in a variety of ways. This book contains a generous collection of short stories and novellas that will broaden your idea of what constitutes a female-led D/s dynamic while arousing you with kinky erotic scenarios ranging from first-time submission to immersive pony play. Take a walk on the wild side and let the wicked imagination of Jim Lyon, femdom author extraordinaire, help you fully appreciate the appeal of dominant women.
My writing career is mostly on hold for the nonce because I am too busy operating Wordwooze Publishing. Wordwooze publishes in genres ranging from mystery/thriller, western and self-help to erotica, romance and vintage science fiction in ebook, audiobook and paperback formats. A large portion of its portfolio consists of audiobook editions of books published in different formats by other publishers and indie authors. If you want to hear your book brought to life by a professional narrator, please get in touch. You’ll be glad that you did.
As for my writing career, I liked the idea of becoming a writer from an early age, although specializing in erotica was not what I initially envisioned. While attending college I dabbled in various writing pursuits ranging from playwriting to entertainment journalism, and probably would have tried my hand at writing erotica if the opportunity had presented itself; alas, it did not.
It wasn't until the Internet came along and websites offering erotic stories of every description began popping up that I had my first inclination to write smut. After visiting a few sites that featured user-written kinky stories, most of which were terrible, I quickly realized that I could do a much better job. And I was right. Before long I found myself moonlighting as the story editor for the now-defunct ownme.com, one of the naughtier websites of that era.
Fast forward several years and I decided to transition from erotica hobbyist to professional. I spent several months writing my first book-length erotic story and then steeled myself to the task of finding a publisher. I sent my first round of queries out on a Thursday and the following Monday received a terse email that read: "We like your book. Will send a contract soon." And thus, my career as an erotic writer began in earnest. I have since published many kinky books and had several stories included in various anthologies, notably I.Lover and The Sexy Librarian's Dirty 30, Vol. 1.
I recently requested that the rights to a few of my books be returned to me. As is common with ebooks in niche genres, they had not been publicized much and consequently hadn't enjoyed wide readership despite receiving good reviews. Their sales under-performance was exacerbated by the publisher's refusal to lower their price in accordance with the changing ebook market pricing realities. I have since republished them under my own company Wordwooze Publishing, and of course lowered their prices. My ultimate goal is simply to have these stories read and enjoyed by as many femdom enthusiast and femdom curious readers as possible. So with that in mind I have bundled two of my novellas and several short stories from an anthology, along with a few new stories, into a book that I hope will appeal to kinky bargain hunters. Enjoy!
I think this is the first time in my life I ever finished an anthology. The only other times I read from an anthology was during English Literature classes, and we only read a few poems and stories then. I have never been a fan of a collection of short stories. I usually prefer one story from beginning to end. This anthology: Femmes, did grab and hold my attention. The book comprises of many stories all dealing with a Domme. Most stories were somewhat absurd which is exactly the style I like. The stories often dealt with a new sub to be trained by an experienced Domme. Many piercings were set in the book, specifically in the perineum. There were also many 'daily whippings'.
What I didn't like was the pacing in some of the stories. A few times the major happenings, like a deflowering or a branding, happened without any leading into it. I tended to happen 'all of a sudden' because the circumstances arose. I would have made it a bigger deal with days of anticipation. I also got confused with names now and then. Sometimes I lost track of the characters or the gender of the characters. I didn't always enjoy how the voice actress told the story. Specifically, at the beginning of the book, I thought she was trying too hard to be sexy. She talked with a breathy voice which was not always appropriate or necessary. Had she just read the words, it would have been enough.
Overall I certainly enjoyed the book. I even enjoyed the story about pony play. The author has a good grasp of BDSM-dynamics, and I did find certain scenes arousing. I couldn't always listen to the book because I would have an appointment with family later and you can't be all red-eared and aroused when they come over for tea. I would recommend this book to people who are into femdom, obviously, but also people are just looking for a good erotica set. You will get value for your money with this book.
Jim Lyon’s Dommes is a zesty and skillfully written collection of erotic stories in the BDSM vein featuring, as the title suggests, Dommes.
The stories are well paced, avoiding the common mistake of so many erotic stories: a sketchy introduction of bland characters followed by too many pages of repetitive fucking. Instead, Lyon’s characters are well defined (either quickly or slowly, depending on the various paces and lengths of these stories). Once the action gets going there is no lack of it in salacious detail.
There is a masterful but unpretentious ease about these stories. What I like about Lyon’s work is that the characters tend to have uncontrived connections to each other. Yes, this is BDSM alright, but there are believable characters involved and often a certain tenderness here.
The collection features a sound mix of different characters and situations, including darker stories, such as “Ebony,” (no pun intended) and sci-fi (“Erin and Giselle”). The dominant tone of the anthology as a whole could be described as a delightful, urbane decadence. The tales include flogging, anal sex, futanari sex, sci-fi themes, m/f encounters and f/f sex themes among others.
Many of the stories could be described as having a leisurely narrative pace which provides just the right level of foreplay for the hotter scenes that follow. But these stories do not follow predictable patterns. “Yin Yang,” for example, as appropriate for a very short story, is right into the action at the start.
Long and involved or short and sweet. Highly recommended for the discerning fetishist.
Jim Lyon has done it again. Provocative and enticing with a sophisticated image and flair. Wonderful read with some definite surprises. The pony play story was of particular interest to me. Great read!
Yin Yang - ~3 pages - 4 stars Two very brief and somewhat light BDSM scenes (mf) were nicely tantalizing, including a switch to return of the favor of the joy of life. I especially liked some of the details in the second half, not particularly rough but nicely stinging and enticing activities.
Lily - ~7 pages - 3 stars A series of successive virtual scenes taking a young woman down the road to her ultimate desire of submitting herself as a plaything to a powerful mistress. A very nice progression, following the flow in a mindset that can lead to full and deep submission to a Domme, if a bit too simple and basic for my personal tastes.
Smantha - ~35 pages
Erin & Giselle - ~11 pages
Linda - ~6 pages
Princess - ~4 pages
Wendy & Denise - ~33 pages
Sylvia - ~5 pages
Ebony - ~3 pages
Aqua - ~2 pages - 4 stars While this saucy tale was not femdom, it flowed with a torrent of enticingly steamy desires, sprinkling caresses, nicely needling pressure and pure pounding of the heroine's needs. Wonderfully light but brightly inventive, plenty heated without scalding the sensibilities.
I felt there were a couple of stories that kept me quite interested in how they would unfold. I won't give any spoilers. Then, there were a few that lost me in translation, and I felt Mr. Lyons could have polished them up a little more to keep the listener captivated. But, all-in-all I wouldn't say "Dommes: Femdom Erotica" was a total bust.
The narrator did a great job! This was my 1st time hearing Kathryn LaPlante and enjoyed listening to her. I would give her 5-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s for her performance!!!
As always, Jim Lyon demonstrates gold , nay, excellent use of language to deliver a collection of stories. Ranging from short (under 10 pages) to novella (north of 40 pages), he is able to cover the range of female dominance. Admittedly, I skimmed the lesbian material (never been my cuppa), but the sense is that he consistently delivers no less than a good story well conceived and executed.
