Since Jamie Tyler lost his soul mate three years ago, he has struggled to move on. Although he has developed feelings for Emma Rivers, a colleague, he can't seem to sever his final ties with Pippa, despite her absence. The universe intervenes through ‘Match by Mail’, an online dating service his brother successfully used to find love. Jamie’s heart desires Emma, but will they both be able to overcome the loss of Pippa and move forward?

Excellent paranormal romance. This is Jamie and Emma’s story. Jamie is a tiger shifter. He lost his mate a few years ago yet he has strong feelings for Emma. He’s a family lawyer and Emma works for his firm. She’s liked him since the moment she saw him. He feels tremendous guilt over wanting to love another. Lots of drama and romance. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Woods.

He has felt things for Emma Rivers who works in his office but just cannot seem to break his final ties with Pippa even though she has been gone quite some time. The universe comes to his aid through ‘Match by Mail’, an online dating service his brother successfully used to find a mate. Jamie’s tiger wants Emma and so does Jamie but will they both be able to overcome the loss of Pippa and move on or not?
This is the second book in the Dartmoor Big Cat Brides Series and deals with the paranormal world of big cat shifters. The background is slightly different from other paranormal shifter books in that each of three brothers becomes different types of big cats when they shift and only males of the line are shifters. I liked the fact that family and friendships are important to the men and women in the series AND also enjoyed the idea that the women were strong enough in their own right to bring something to the relationships. I enjoyed both book one and book two of the series and look forward to reading book three soon.

Let me start by saying I really enjoy reading Freya Jackson/Serenity Woods books. I always feel transported to where ever the book takes place.
Savage Instinct is a great book on multiple levels, the romance is super steamy and the paranormal addition is really fun to read about. Also, I am a huge fan of books in a series. I love that we get to catch up with old characters that we fell in love with, as well as we get to delve deeper in to characters that we already feel like we know.
The Tyler shifter brothers are quickly becoming favorites of mine. Not only are they family oriented, intelligent, hardworking men. But Big Beautiful Cats as well. What else can you ask for?
Jamie and Emma's story sucked me in immediately. Jamie's behavior due to his past tragedy broke my heart. Emma's willingness to push her boundaries in order to accommodate him had me rooting for her from the beginning.
This is a multilayered story that will make you want to read it all in one sitting.

Savage Instinct (Dartmoor Big Cat Brides 02) by Freya Jackson (Serenity Woods) is a steamy second chance at love paranormal romance. For anyone who has ever buried their true love identifying with Jamie would come naturally. It matters not if you are human or a shifter. In fact, Ms. Jackson has personified those conflicting feelings that the surviving partner goes through in the character of Jamie Tyler.
Emma Rivers is a strong intelligent faithful daughter who has problems of her own. Her character is still caring of others instead of focusing on her lot in life. I loved the positive relationship that she had with her family. Many in reality would have feelings of resentment towards caring for her mother.
Together Jamie and Emma make a perfect couple. The fact that he is a shifter added to the drama but was not a real issue in the story. It is entertaining low drama and low stress type of romance. I found it very enjoyable, perfect for a lazy afternoon read.
