Kayla Rowe and her little sister are running for their lives. Chased from town to town by a gang of bikers that no one else sees, Kayla is down to her last dollar and out of ideas. But when she stumbles into the winter camp of a man who is larger than life, her world changes.
Although Fae warrior Ryan Sheridan is entranced by Kayla’s beauty and courage, he has a band of fellow exiles he must protect. Disguised as performers in a Renaissance fair, he and his comrades hide in plain sight. But when evil follows Kayla, Ryan can no longer turn her away—or deny the passion that will upend both their worlds.
Hazel and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA. Though they haven’t managed it yet, plans are afoot to add a kitty to the household, thereby giving the allergist fits.
Hazel has been writing full-time for several years, with some traditionally published work in other genres. But it’s her indie-published romance that fuels the creative fire. It turns out writing isn’t a job, it’s an obsession.
When you can pry Hazel’s fingers from the laptop, you’ll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush. Although she’s vegan, she’s a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily, potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.
Wow a short book but amazing, the main couple have great chemistry, Kayla is really likeable, not so sure on her little sister...... Some hot fae men and a great unfolding plot line...... on too book 2
I'm torn about this one. Did I enjoy the book? Yes. Did I read it in a night? Yes.
So there's really no reason why I wouldn't want to give this a five star, but there's something holding me back. It wasn't the fact that it's a cliffhanger, I actually like books that do that. It wasn't the characters, because they were acceptably fleshed out and certainly easy to read.
Perhaps it had something to do with the sister character (spoilers heyo) with the guy we had already read about raping some woman to death. I don't know. It just seemed a little... uncomfortable? Odd? Surprising? Now this could entirely be the author's desire that I feel odd about this. I haven't read the second book yet. But it was definitely something I didn't really like.
On to the good stuff! The writing was highly enjoyable, smooth, with minimal spelling or grammar issues. It was a entirely fun read with Fae characters (which I'm always a sucker for) and men who have an entirely different persona hidden by magic. Fun? Yes. Worth a read? Sure.
Still not sure if I'd suggest it to a friend to read. But it was entertaining and definitely worth my night.
The Hunted is the first novella in a new series Forever Faire. This is not a standalone and ends in a cliffhanger. I really enjoyed this installment. It is a quick read so it's perfect for an afternoon sitting outside by a pool or at the beach. There is some violence and hot steamy sex scenes so 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. The author did a great job of describing the scene and why Kayla and Tara are on the run from a biker gang only they can see. There are a lot of clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me riveted.
I look forward to reading more of this series. I received an ARC copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fair romance read, however, I felt it was way too short and for that reason a bit of an ask at $2.99 on Amazon. Sexy fae guys with glamour, girls in need of a rescuing hero, all pretty straightforward.
This is a different take on the fae. It was an enjoyable story which slowly evolved. It has a lot of twists and turns, plus a plot that slowly unravels. I look forward to the next one.
TERRIFIC STORY, SO ENTERTAINING AND LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW ........ OVER 18 + READING Forever Faire is the story of a group of Fae that have been cast out of the Fae world to live in the mortal world forever, never to have family or know their own kind for different reasons and one by one Ryan found them and started Forever Faire a traveling Renascence fair that winters in Ashdale. Ryan Sheridan(leader and a berserker), Colm Longacre(second in command), Jannon Ferguson( a drunk at times, like now),Wallace Magee (blacksmith and spell tracker) main ones at this time. Kayla(25) and Tara Rowe (17)lived in Florida but had to leave after they were found my a much of motorcycle thugs that stalked them,no matter how much they moved or how careful they were they kept being found, never being able to stay more than a few days anywhere. Then they caught Tara and they have to separate one north, one south lose them and meet at Ashdale. Tara ask why that sounded familiar and Kayla told her we lived there when I was young and you were born their, Dad always told me if you or I ever needed a safe place to go there and people there would protect us (then they seem to forget that message, even when they get there and are ask if protection is needed). Kayla on her way to meet Tara has her rental car run out of gas 7 miles out on a freezing night so she starts to walk at 2 miles out she sees a light that turns out to be a campfire a man at it. She asks if she can warm herself at it, Ryan has a feeling that she needs help an ask if she is looking for them, not knowing why he is asking she says no and letting me get warm doesn't give you my story, telling her to forget and go to the road help is coming. The local cop shows up and the tow truck with gas and she gets back on the road to the motel to meet Tara. While she eats, checks how much money they have ($74)and tries to figure out what next, Tara finishes her shower. Kayla remembers hearing Ryan say they had to get a new groom and seamstress because Jannon caught them stealing and let them go, Tara has been making her own clothes for years and Kayla is terrific with horses. She gets Tara to go along with the job ideal, apply the next day and both (Kayla/Evan and Tara) get hired and job includes room and board with pay. Christine Marszalek (a dancer in a bar) has had her own run in with the Blackstone bikers (20 look a like, same clothes, sunglasses, haircuts, even body build) they took over the club, killed her boss, and using the girls for their pleasure. She got away using a trick of her own and next show up at Forever Faire (working children's archery range). Now the next week, knowing she can't keep it that she is not a he since they have moved into the lodge so when Colm comes by the barn where she is getting the horses ready for the show that day she lets him see she is a woman. Because she is so small he is worried she can't do it- till he sees that she can handle even Ryan's Titan, because she was able to fool everyone he test her to see if she is Fae-convinced she is not he tells her to forget and leaves. But goes to find Ryan and tells him the groom is a she,Ryan trusting him if he says she is trouble let her go....till he says it is Kayla. Then Ryan saying her full name to see if that is right and Colm saying yes and her sister Tara is the seamstress , changing his mind to let them stay, for now. Colm said you know her, no I just let her warm at my fire one night...Oh! is that what they call it now? Elias Moffett(Fae,exiled for marring a mortal) had built the lodge before market crash of 29, with their wealth gone and he refused to sell it so moved his wife (Lilly) there till she died at her ninetieth year when he gave it to Ryan as they had no children before he choose to follow her to the next place. I love the way things always play out with Kayla and Ryan, always fun to see a powerful alpha male lose to a tiny woman who won't give in, except in they are in less than a foot of each other then their minds seem to change what they think they want. Kayla finds that the Fae men keep telling her to forget and she keeps letting them think she did. Kayla and Christine become friends as both are new to the Faire and Tara has been told to be nice, then Kayla goes to find Ryan to tell him she has told Christine to come talk to him and about the power she used to get away (but she is unaware she has power). This book has it all, funny but serious, love and hate, joy and sadness, friendship yet enemy ,plots on more plots, discovery of things hidden in the worlds of Fae and mortals yet I can't wait to get the next book read.
Title: Hunted: A Fae Fantasy & Romance Novel Series: (Forever Faire Book One) Note: Book 1 but it does have a cliffhanger ending Author: Hazel Hunter
This is my review of Hunted, book 1 in the Forever Faire Series. I got this first book in the series free as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the start of a great world but it does have a cliff hanger ending and is not a full story in one book. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and I am ready to find out what happens in the rest of the books and can't wait until they are released. Despite the length it does move at a good pace and keeps you interested.
This is not my first book from Hazel Hunter and in fact she is one of my favorite authors. This book however is a change from what I am used to from her and I am finding that very exciting. She is adding in Fae to her menagerie of shifters, witches, warlocks, and hunters. This book is the story of 2 sisters, Kayla and Tara , who are hunted for some reason by a biker gang where they all look the same. No matter how many times they move or run the gang follows them. So in order to be safe they split up and meet back in a town named Ashdale that they were always told they could return home to if they are in trouble. On the way there Kayla breaks down and tries to walk through the snow covered woods to get to town and is about to suffer from frostbite and possible death when she finds a man camped at a campfire. Right away her eyes are playing tricks on her and the man, who is named Ryan, tries to find out the real reason she is there. Convinced that she is fully human he tries to wipe her mind and send her away to help but she remembers it all. Ryan is a special Fae who is a leader of a band of exiles and he is in charge with keeping them safe so he sends the human female away despite the feelings he has for her. Fast forward a bit later and Kayla and her sister end up working at the same Faire that Ryan and his Fae put on. Kayla does not know Ryan was out in the woods for a specific reason and had been sent to help some Fae that were supposed to be coming through but that never showed. As the book progresses we learn things about both sides of the coin. Both Kayla and Tara have powers despite the fact that if one of them is fully human she should have no powers, which is interesting in itself and has me very curious about how this will play out in the next few books. Kayla is a strong and likeable character. Tara is dark and broody but has a desire to be loved and is upset at how everyone loves Kayla right away but not her. Ryan is a tough and strong alpha male that you realize will do anything he can to protect those he cares for and if Kayla and Tara make it onto that list there is nothing he will not do to take care of them.

My trip to the Forever Faire was just what I needed. You know how you feel when you take that day off that's been a long time coming and you spend it doing things you want to do - not the things you have to? Well, that's how this book was for me.
Kayla, female MC, is an independent woman who loves her family - all she has left now is her sister. Since her father died a few months ago their lives have been a bit of a nightmare - they are being chased by a motorcycle gang. Strangest thing though, no one else can seem to see the gang. Kayla and Tara (her sister) are constantly on the move trying to get ahead and stay away from these strange guys.
Having no luck loosing the gang - Kayla and Tara decide to split up, taking two different routes in an effort to through off their pursuers. They agree to meet up in a small North Carolina Town called Ashdale. While on her way to meet her sister, Kayla rental car runs out of gas and she has to continue to town on foot. In hopes of staying off the main roads and away from the gang she cuts through the woods on a cold winters night.
In these dark woods she meets Ryan. He's camped in the middle of no where on a cold snowy night - strange yes. However, he doesn't creep her out like the other guys - in fact she is drawn to him. Almost as if she can't help herself. Every time she's near one of the motorcycle guys - she feel sick. Ryan makes her feel the opposite.
Who is he? Why is he camping in the middle of winter? And then he does this thing...this changey type thing that Kayla can't seem to believe is real - he tells her she will have no memory of this encounter, Kisses her, tells her a man is coming to help her -then rides away.
The story that unfolds is familar and yet new again. A medieval Faire in the middle of no where, Hot, beefy men who are more than they seem, A gang of pale faced, tattooed, creepy bikers, two sisters yet not sisters?
If you love faerie tales, good and bad fae, tales of changelings and magic - but all grown up with this might be a book for you.
Warning: it does end in a cliff hanger. No HEA or HFN in sight yet.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this copy and was not compensated in any way.
Hunted is the first book in the Forever Faire trilogy. In this book Kayla Rowe and her sister Tara are on the run from a biker gang that has been stalking them wherever they go. The only problem is that no one can see them other than Kayla and Tara. Kayla, being the older of the two sisters, decides they will move away from Florida and go north to get away from the gang. She sends Tara ahead to try to keep her safe and she follows a few days behind. Unfortunately Kayla runs out of gas just outside of the town where she is meeting Tara. After walking for miles she spots a man in the woods by a campfire and asks if she can stop to get warm. She and Ryan have an instant connection and Ryan decides to reveal himself in his true form as a Fae. Instantly regretting his decision, Ryan casts a spell on Kayla to make her forget what he has shown her and leaves her in the woods but not before Kayla sees where he has gone. Kayla makes it into town and, unbeknownst to Ryan, Kayla remembers everything about her meeting with Ryan. When she arrives in town she finds out that Ryan and his friends run a Renaissance fair just outside of town and are looking for part time workers. She and Tara decide to work there because Kayla thinks that Ryan might be the key to helping her and Tara stay safe. During her time at the faire Kayla and Ryan grow closer but Kayla and Tara’s troubles are far from over. The biker gang finds them again but they are not what they seem; they are more dangerous than Kayla could have ever imagined. Will Ryan be able to protect Kayla? Why are these mysterious bikers after Kayla and Tara? Will Ryan and Kayla’s relationship move beyond mutual attraction to something deeper? Find out in this suspenseful, paranormal romance. I give this book 4 stars.
A wonderful start to a new series by Hazel Hunter.
When Kala and her sister Tara are forced to run for their lives because of a biker gang that only they can see being after them, they finally part ways to see if they can throw off their attackers before reuniting in the town of their childhood. When Kala arrives late at night she runs out of gas miles out of town an tries to walk to the town, getting lost in the woods. When she runs into Ryan she is unsure if what she sees is real or a figment of her cold induced imagination. Once reunited with her sister will everything go the way they need it to so that they can stay hidden or will they once again have to make a run for it like every other place that they have tried to settle in? Will Kala be able to figure out the secrets behind Ryan and his group or will everything go wrong before she can?
I found this first story to be a great opening to the series and look forward to finding out how everything works out in the whole setup. Hazel Hunter knows how to write so that the imagery evoked in the mind comes to life and you just can resist turning the page to see what is going to happen next.
I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review. And my honest review is I thought it was great and well worth the five stars I've given as I couldn't put it down. Kayla and her younger sister Tara are being chased by a group of bikers, she tries reporting it to the police but no one else backs up her story as Kayla and her sister are the only one who seem able to see them. Worried they agree to split up and travel different routes to meet up later in a town their father had told them to head to should they ever run into trouble. So Tara takes the bus and Kayla hires a car and heads in a different direction to throw the bikers off their scent. Kayla runs out of petrol and has to trek through the snow covered forest where she runs into Ryan and his campfire and stops to warm herself up. Ryan is an exiled Fae warrior who with a band of other exiled Fae run a local fair disguised at ordinary humans - there is so much more to this story but I would hate to spoil it for you by telling you any more. It is definitely well worth the read.
This was a pretty good book and beginning of the series. Kayla Rose and her sister Tara are on the run. They were living in Florida when all of a sudden a gang of bikers kept following and terrorizing them. Strange thing was that no one else other than these two saw the bikers. They finally go to Ashdale separately because their late father always told them that they would find sanctuary there. There are plenty of Fae there disguised as Renaissance Fair performers.
Kayla's rental car stopped running and she had to walk the rest of the way to Ashdale. She comes across Ryan there and she can't explain all the strange things she sees around him. He's a fae and has the ability to wipe some memories from humans. But he tries and fails with Kayla. She remembers everything and she and her sister gets jobs as part of the fair.
Ryan's part of the group of exiled fae. He was betrayed by his own clan of fae. He's drawn to Kayla and can't get her out of his head. He's trying to also figure out things about her and her sister.
Hunted is the first book in Hazel Hunter's Forever Faire series and starts the story of Kayla and her sister, Tara. A woman called Christina is also caught up in their story and I am sure we will hear more of her as the series unfolds. With bikers, shapeshifters, changelings, dark fae, exiles and a Renaissance Faire, this promises to be a wild ride.
Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, this story instantly grabs the reader's attention. Ending on a cliffhanger, this is a wonderful start to a new series. Definitely recommended.
* I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. *
Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Aug 15, 2016
First instalment in Hazel Hunter's The Forever Faire series, a brand-new promising series I personally loved this book and can’t wait until the next comes. The writing is superb, there is a perfect world building, great action scenes. I adore the plot line, so interesting, intriguing and different that I couldn't put the book down. All of the characters are well-developed. Hazel makes you travel through an emotional roller coaster and jerks your heart around along with her characters so you truly feel immersed in the world she has created. I was given an ARC copy in exchange of an honest review
Kayla Rowe and her sister are running from a strange biker gang and made their way to Kayla's home town of Ashdale were her father always told her they would be safe. The other story that's part of this one is about Christine who was working as a dancer until the club was taken over by a strange biker gang and she runs to Ashdale. Oh and there is a group of hot Fae warriors! This is one fantastic story full of mystery and drama with a huge dose of spice. One book and this series has me hooked. I have got to see what happens next. If your into magic or fae this book will be fantastic for you. Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

*I received this book in exchange of an honest review* Wow!!!! Such an amazing book!!! I need the sequel right NOW!!!! Well written, with an interesting and creative story, a fast but steady flow, witty, funny and super sexy characters, a brilliant plot and lots of twists, it is just enthralling!!! A paranormal romance based on a war of good and evil, with lots of action and a original, new concept of Faes meet MC, "Hunted" is completely addictive!!!!!! Hazel Hunter does it again and give us a magical, fabulous new book that promises to be part of a wonderful series!!!! I honestly can't wait to read what comes next!!!! TWO THUMBS HIGH IN THE AIR WITH BLAZING LIGHTERS ON!!!!!!
This book is a step away from the usual witches and warlocks. I loved it! I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! There's mystery, there's romance, and of course some excellent steamy scenes. For the first part of the book, you don't really understand why Kayla and Tara are being hunted by this motorcycle gang. You don't begin to understand about the Fae until later. But that's exactly what makes it a page turner, you just have to find out what happens next! The book does end on a mighty cliffhanger, and I'm going to read the second book in the series shortly. I really must find the answers to all my questions!
This book was given to me so I could do an ARC review on book 4. Wow am I glad I said yes to it. The book drew me in right from the first chapter. The book is about a girl and her sister running from a motorcycle gang that only they can. They run separately to a town. One makes it safely the other has a miss adventure that sees her running in to a man and from there the real story begins. No hints or spoilers from me. Would I recommend this book YES.
I am on my way to reading a new series ' Forever Faire' looks like a winner. New author in my library of romance and paranormal fantasy. I was intrigued by the storyline and Hazel Hunter creative storytelling. Different from most fantasy novels but, held its own amusement of Fay and motorcycle bad guys. Haven't figured them out yet.
I'm very intrigued by this story. I love paranormal romance especially with such an interesting plot. I can't wait to see what happens next in their story. I definitely recommend trying this series.
I like this book, really would like that the action a bit more elaborate, with more description and a longer explanation of magical characters. All in all, I enjoyed reading and can not wait for the next sequel.
Well the premise is interesting, but the storytelling ( don't know what it is, but it isn't writing) is abominable. Save ur money. I didn't even finish it.
Fantastic start to the series. 5/5 would recommend. Characters are likeable, plot easy to follow. Short length and a whopping cliffhanger are the end are a downfall to some, but not me :)
>Book Review – Hunted >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st novel in the Forever Faire series and ends with a cliffhanger. Kayla and Tara are sisters running from a motorcycle gang only they can see. Ryan is an exiled fae, hiding with other exiled fae in plain sight at a Renaissance Faire. This story is one of good vs. evil with no one really knowing who is good and who is evil. >Ryan and Kayla are attracted to each other, but they don’t really have a lot of chemistry. Kayla is meant to be human, but she is able to avoid any fae mind control. Her abilities are not explained. Tara is a loving sister, until her personality changes and the cliffhanger comes in. Why Tara is running after what is revealed at the end is just ignored and makes the story seem odd. > This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 3 stars. There are too many questions and not enough answers. Stories with cliffhangers usually have a great relationship story to keep the reader interested, but this story has a lukewarm relationship between Ryan and Kayla.
The story takes a bit of time to become interesting but when it does, there are some good moments. There just isn't enough to this book for the reader to really sink into and get lost in the story. The sisters and their plight, the dark fae and exiled fae. There's a lot of potential but not executed well enough with just some weird scenes thrown in. Kayla and Ryan were a bit odd in their interactions at times including the intimate scenes. There aren't enough descriptions, there isn't enough information, or character development either. Though I'm curious as to who may be the changeling, I'm not intrigued enough to read the next one in the series.
A motorcycle gang, maybe. A magic show, I guess. A couple of sisters on the run, if you say so.
Kayla Rowe and her younger sister Tara are on the run from a motorcycle gang. On the one hand, it seems they want to hurt them and, on the other, use them for some unknown purpose. The plot of the story is unclear and confusing. Kayla's walk down the road on her way into town in the cold is bizarre and gets even more bizarre when she meets Ryan Sheridan out in the middle of nowhere, warming himself in front of a fire. Kayla becomes enchanted with Ryan and sees him in a different light. Kayla thinks her eyes are playing tricks on her when in fact, she's stumbled upon a fae warrior.
A few chapters later, Kayla works as a groom for the Renaissance fair, and her sister is a seamstress. Meanwhile, stripper Christine Marszalek escapes from the motorcycle gang and performs its archery range at the festival. Kayla welcomes Christine while Tara instantly dislikes her. Kayla and Ryan try to ignore the chemistry between them but eventually give in, in a bizarre scene, which leaves them levitating off the bed!
Hunted was a difficult read. I'm not sure whether it was the content and my aversion to faires or the writing style. The best way to describe this read for me is that I was continually lost in the story from one page to the next. Hunted is fast-paced, and if you ignore the tiniest of details, you're left in the dust. No matter. Hunted didn't work for me.
