The shy daughter of a powerful politician, Melanie Owen is fed up over her father’s attempts at controlling her life. Hiding out in Lobster Cove seems like the perfect solution. But a misunderstanding and unwarranted act of heroism bring the town’s doctor, Seth Goodwyn crashing to—and through—Melanie’s front door. Seth's attempts to repair the situation insert him into her life, raising Melanie's worries of losing her new-found independence to another controlling man.
His inability to save his sister has impacted Seth Goodwyn’s entire life, and Doctor Seth is a fixer. He meets quiet, unassuming Melanie and figures she needs his help. But before long, he struggles against the realization that to keep her, he may have to let her go.
Jennifer Moore is a passionate reader and writer of all things romance due to the need to balance the rest of her world, which includes a perpetually traveling husband and four active sons, who create heaps of laundry that are anything but romantic. Jennifer has a BA in linguistics from the University of Utah and is a Guitar Hero champion. She lives in northern Utah with her family.
4.5 stars. We met Dr. Seth Goodwyn in Change of Heart (Lobster Cove #1). This is Seth's story and it takes place at the same time as his best friend, Nathaniel's whose story is told in Change of Heart.
A tragic accident that happened 20 years ago helped shape Seth Goodwyn into being a fixer; it's what makes him a good doctor. He likes and needs to take care of people. Melanie Owen is quiet, kind of shy and has only been in Lobster Cove about a month. Seth has a feeling that Melanie is "afraid of something--or more likely, someone."
Seth literally crashes into Melanie's world (it's a funny scene) and as he tries to make amends Melanie finds herself attracted to the caring doctor. But Melanie doesn't want a man, to tell her what to do or do things for her--that's why she'd run away to Lobster Cove.
This is a sweet story of two people who are total opposites, in this aspect of their lives, learning to give and take. Seth needs to learn to let Melanie do things by herself and Melanie needs to learn that sometimes it nice for a guy to take care of you.
This is a quick read (only about 100 pages) and it's a clean romance.
4.5 stars Can Jennifer Moore write a bad book? I don't think so! I was out for my morning run when it decided to pour down rain. I thought I would wait it out in my car. I literally just sat in my car, at a park, and read this book. I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading. It's so cute and I want to move to Lobster Cove. We met Seth in Change of Heart- the first book in this series. This book is happening concurrently with Change of Heart. Seth is awesome. He's sensitive and genuinely cares about others. Melanie just wants to live her own life after having most of it controlled by her politician father. It was great to see walls come down and wounds heal throughout the book. It was a fast read and I totally enjoyed it!!!
I have to apologize to the author for the unkind review I left years ago about the first book in the series. I'm sorry. This was a cute, quick beach read about finding yourself enough to trust someone with the heart. Clean. Really liked Seth's character.
A cute, fun, sweet romance between Doctor Seth Goodwyn & Melanie Owen a politicians daughter. Melanie comes to small town Lobster Cove to try to live her own life out of the shadows of her father. This was a clean Romance but I wish it had been longer.
I normally give low points for short stories ... because they are short. Ha! However, this book was good and didn’t leave me feeling like it was too short.
You can't go wrong with Jennifer Moore! I do enjoy her other books more, but the Lobster Cove series has surprised me. I was hoping for a storyline with Seth, so I was very pleased with this one. Too short though!
