TRAIN YOUR MIND TO BE YOUR GREATEST ALLY, INSTEAD OF YOUR SABOTEURWe think 60,000 thoughts a day. And yet, scientific research tells us a whopping 70% of those thoughts are negative. No wonder stress, social anxiety, depression, and unhappiness are on the rise!If you want to stop that incessant, negative voice in your head, read this book. One night in 2010, author Barbara Ireland was singing onstage with Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam when she suddenly "heard" her own inner thoughts. She was shocked at how self-critical they were and "Are these negative thoughts going through my head all the time?"Turns out they were - and they'd been sabotaging her life for years. We all think negative thoughts. I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream that was plagued by severe insecurities, anxiety and self-doubt due to the techniques found in Barbara's book. I highly recommend it!" -Amy W., Seattle, WA "While the book does not specifically mention manifesting, that is exactly what I believe the direct result of creating new neural pathways will be.
This book was ok. I don't think I learned anything new, so it's the same old stuff about changing your thoughts. I guess it's probably "cognitive therapy lite." It was easy to read, humorous and accessible.
The author claims she had a Near Death Experience (NDE) and that's when she became aware of the concept she refers to as "Mind Loops." I am a little suspicious of her NDE, just because there is no evidence that she actually died. For all of what she reveals about the cause of her death, I wouldn't be surprised if she had a drug "trip" that turned into a spiritual experience.
That doesn't discount her experience in the least, or matter really, but I'm hypercritical about NDE claims because I've read quite a few that turned out to be fraudulent. I read a whole book written by a doctor about his NDE that turned out to be a work of fiction so now I'm always a little skeptical.
Genuine NDE or not, Barbara Ireland doesn't write anything bad in this book and I think it appears to helpful. She's got a free workbook I downloaded that I'm going to fill out and I'll see if it helps me change some of my "stinkin' thinkin' into something more positive.
This book is an incredibly insightful and valuable look into what the author calls, “Mind Loops”. She explains what they are, who the book is aimed at; her personal journey with constant negative thoughts, which results in you feeling a deep connection in some way to her, even if you haven’t experienced exactly what she has; and most importantly an accountable, practical, and innovative guide on how to change the ones you have.
While the book does not specifically mention manifesting your true desires; that is exactly what I believe the direct result of creating new neural pathways will be. The author states: “a negative thought triggers a negative emotion that leads to a negative action.” So, can you imagine what a positive thought does, especially if it is repeated 90% of the time throughout the day! That we can attract absolutely anything we want from our thoughts alone is astounding, and this book is the perfect tool to help us do just that.
I loved the author’s style of prose. It is engaging, powerful, well thought out and researched, and easy to read. I found that I could not put the book down, but at the same time I wanted to re-read certain parts and was able to glean a new sense of enlightenment from them. I highly recommend reading this book. The power it holds to change your life is amazing!
It took me a while to read this book. I stumbled on it a while back and I'm glad I bought it. I like the techniques she describes to get it rid of negative thinking, and I have been one of those people that needed a book to guide me with thinking more positive. I like the 's she has described in this book. I would recommend this book for anyone who has and fears or thoughts of the past.
I loved this book! It offers simple steps to finally control those maddening negative self-talk loops that have always plagued me. The format for taming your thoughts is easy to follow and works amazingly fast. Definitely a way to upgrade your daily life.
I enjoyed it bc it is just so straightforward and simple. A little of this genre can go really deep but forget we have to be able to implement what we read. This makes it easy.
I found this book to be very helpful, with lots of practical ideas and even a companion (free) workbook to download as well as an audio lecture (also free) to download
I notice the date I began this book...some 8 years ago! In spite of the long time it took me to finish it, I did find many good ideas for developing clear, focused thinking.
