We are made in God's image. God provided rules for healthy living and a sacrificial practice as a means to worship him. Yet we chose to separate from God and go our own way–we couldn't follow God's rules without messing up. Enter Jesus. He came as a man, in the same image as we are created. He lived a sinless life and is the only effective sacrifice to pay the price that we deserve for our hurtful choices. Richard Bahr's book, Why the Humanity of Jesus Matters, helps unpack how Jesus lived out his humanity–and how that humanity helps us connect to him and the Father more effectively.
Richard Bahr is a life-long resident of Minnesota having grown up in the Twin Cities area. He was President and CEO of a successful manufacturing firm for 21 years.
Due to his own life experiences coupled with a passion for service, Bahr has been involved with organizations that provide a “second chance” to those in need. He operates a ministry with his wife, Carla, called Threshold to New Life (www.threshold2newlife.org). The ministry’s mission is to provide both short-term relief to the homeless, as well as long term help to keep them in the housing they have.
Bahr has personally delivered over 20,000 pairs of socks to his “friends” in the street as a means of meeting the homeless, learning names and establishing relationships. His ministry works with housing agencies as their “backstop” to aid in keeping people in the housing they have, effectively reducing homelessness.
Bahr co-founded the Food Drive Challenge (now https://www.corporationsfeedingameric...), which provides tools, tips and techniques for business to conduct staff-drive food drives to support their local communities. He serves at and coordinates the volunteers for 2.4 Ministries which provides a daily breakfast and fellowship in Minneapolis homeless shelters. Richard serves twice per week.
In addition, he is a founding member of and served as President of the Hennepin Technical College Foundation for 16 years, he serves as a mentor to chemically dependent men, volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and established the Bahr Family Endowment with Hennepin Technical College.
Richard Bahr is also a published author. Proceeds from his book, Amazed: Why the Humanity of Jesus Matters, will go towards funding his ministry. Recently, he published Those People: The True Character of the Homeless, telling stories of remarkable people in the homeless community and why we should care.

Rich does a great job outlining things about Jesus I haven't thought about before. He's engaging and raw about his own life and challenges. Well worth the read. Simple and fast for those who aren't theologians. Engaging in a way that challenged me to stop, think, and praise God for who he is and the life he lived and showed us.
