Amidst the roar of the inferno, two things became He was my mate. And he was about to die. - Rhys - I’d always known I would find my mate someday. I didn’t expect him to be dying. By the time I pull him out of the burning building his life hangs on by a thread. He is a human, delicate and damaged, yet all I can think about is the need to fill him with my fire and claim him for my own. I need him like I need air. My fire would burn him to ash. I wanted his fire to obliterate me. - Theodore - He hits me like a semi I never see coming. The night my boyfriend walks out on me I fall asleep alone; I wake in the midst of an inferno with my apartment burning down around my ears…and see HIM. Eyes like molten metal. Skin the flames do not burn. A connection I can’t ignore. I can’t look away from him. He’s not human. And our mating will change my life forever. This 52,000-word novel contains adult language and scorching sexual situations, male pregnancy, no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed HEA. The books in the Fated Embers series can be read in any order, though some details may make more sense if the series is read sequentially.

Decent

Kept my interest. Most things were on the surface and I wish we dove deeper. I also wish there was just more time between the two. Seemed the only they did was smexy time. Also it was weird how some people just showed up for a certain reason and then that was it. Like what happened to the friend in the hotel? And the guy in the end. Why didn’t we get to see the actual birth, or finding his dad. Why didn’t T talk to his father anymore. Missing parts.

Amazing story!

I loved reading Rhys and Theodore’s journey! It was atypical of all the other shifter/human fated mates stories (they are my favorite stories to read) I’ve read before. Usually these stories begin with a lot of wooing and explaining to the human, but here, their mating bond was completed first and followed by not only wooing and explanations, but an awful lot of excitement. I highly recommend and can’t wait to read again!

This was a strong book right up until the end. I really bonded to Theodore who was strong in the face of the adversity he'd faced at the beginning of the story and later when Rhys was having issues and screwing up. Rhys was very sexy and made a great dragon, but I wanted to yell at him at a little at a few places in the story. The desire between the characters was palpable. The sex was great and the description of the bonding process was excellent. I liked how the bond between them functioned as well. So all of this was great with some good dramatic conflict arising between Rhys and Theodore, when suddenly the story goes a bit off the rails. Another dramatic element appears out of left field and muddles the story. Everything builds to this desperate crescendo then, with many pieces of the situation unsolved or incomplete, we suddenly have an epilogue. There were some real logistical problems with going from the place they were to that epilogue, I had lots of questions. There is a small piece of the epilogue that sets the story up for a sequel and answers a few of the questions but left me with more. The mpreg piece was a little bit unusual with not a lot of details due to a story device. It's still worth a read and I will be on the lookout for the sequel, but just be aware that the ending is abrupt and a little confusing.

Fated mates done right

This was Insta-love and fated mates done the way it should be. The bond between Rhys and Theodore was instant and undeniably strong such that the only way that Rhys didn't instantly claim his mate was because Theodore needed to be protected from harm. The uncertainty and second guessing didn't come into play until after the pair had bonded and the frenzy of their initial mating had settled and both mates began to work through what being mated means.

This is the first book that I've read from this author, but it definitely won't be the last.

The shifter mate storyline almost always has so excited epic insta-love. This story definitely had that instant connection, but things progressed quite...normally after the initial mating.
Theodore was quite strong, and we never had to go through any drama-llama moments which I really appreciated. Rhys actually had a very 'human' reaction to the surprise of pregnancy (not a spoiler - the book is an mpreg story) and while it was a big deal how he reacted, I actually understood his reasons behind it.

So, overall, this was a surprisingly human, dragon story!

I thought it was great!

This was an interesting story of a dragon firefighter who rescues a man f

This was the story of a dragon firefighter who rescues an artist from a burning apartment who turns out to be his mate. I really enjoyed how the author created a dragon culture that caused the dragon hero to struggle balancing his two worlds. I never wavered in my attention to the story to the very end will look for more books by this talented author. It was fun, exciting and quite romantic. I am all about the romance.

This was a DNF for me. The beginning started out well enough but I could not forgive Rhys. The way he ran off after finding out Teddy was pregnant and the way he wallowed just ended it for me. Teddy forgave him so easily and once Rhys was supposed to be on his way home I stopped reading.

This is a well written book. The twists in this story happen often. The characters are well written and developed throughout the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

My biggest pet peeve was the poor editing. There were a lot of word errors that looked like auto-correct gone bad or grammatical mistakes.
