Get ready to leave your panties at the door.
The first thing Alyssa—my brand new secretary—said to me was that we needed to keep things...
Professional.
She acted like I was some wild animal. Like I might grope her in our first investor meeting. It infuriated me—not because she was wrong, no. She was right about me. I was definitely an animal.
It just pissed me off that she thought she could tell me what to do.
I was the boss.
Not her.
But fine. I tried to stop thinking about her long hair, her decadent curves, her intoxicating scent.
And I could have stopped fantasizing about her.
Until I found her fantasies.
Alyssa has been writing about how much she wants a man to control her. A man who can make her kneel, beg, sweat and moan.
A man like me.
My secretary has a secret—one I'm ready to use against her.
I'm about to see how professional she really wants to be.

A short insta-love and SMOKIN hot office romance....

description

description
"The sight of Alyssa spread out in front of me, dazed from her orgasm, is nearly enough to make me come. The hungry look in her eyes when she saw my cock is definitely more than enough. Having her under my control is like a fire has been lit inside."
description

Even before Alyssa starts her new job, she has been warned to stay away from her manwhore new boss Charles. Rumor has it he has a thing for his secretaries. Alyssa doesn't plan on being the next notch on his belt, so she lays down the law. Everything will remain professional between them. That doesn't stop her from having naughty fantasies about being dominated by Charles. So what is a gal to do? She posts her naughty thoughts on an online website. Which is all fine and well until the day that Charles reads those fantasies for himself, and suddenly remaining professional takes on a whole new meaning...

Filthy Boss is Miz Wylder's debut novella, and I have to say, I was REALLY impressed with this book. The writing was fantastic and the plot was interesting and flowed nicely. The characters were likable and pretty well rounded for this being a short book. There is a side plotline that I think could have been fleshed out more, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the overall story. This is insta-love at it's best and without a lot of angst. Charles wasn't a manwhore, but he WAS smokin hot and sweet. There is really no OW/OM drama or pushing away. Charles likes to be in control, but I would classify this as BDSM light (blindfolds, tieing up, orders) It ends on a 6 months in the future epilogue that I wish had been farther in the future. Apparently though you can sign up at the author's site and receive an extended epilogue.

Overall I really enjoyed this one, and will for sure be keeping my eye out for more releases from this very talented new author.

My first go at "Smut" category books and I will this say this one was a fine read. The storyline kept me glued, erotic scenes were portrayed aptly, and wasn't one of those cringe cliche types which one can otherwise expect in a smut read!

Additionally, the novella's infusion of humor and witty dialogues added to its allure, making it a satisfying introduction to the genre of steamy romance, so called smut!.

This book is the most cliche romance you can find!

● hot dude
● love at first sight
● jealous female character
● lots of sappy love
● attempt at ruining the relationship by another female
● revenge and...
● HEA

We've read it all before!
Yet Penny Wylder somehow makes you not hate her story at first sight. Her stories are overly sweet, and I've made it known that I don't like my books too sweet, but she manages to maintain the balance between her cute sweetness and whatever hot scandalous affair she's writing about. Maybe it's the fact that her books are short and fast so nothing gets overdone and therefore the cliche romance can still be enjoyable. Whatever it is that she does, she manages to make me happy each time I read her books.

Filthy Boss however, had way too many errors and typos for me to properly enjoy it. The parts of the book that were clearly meant to be written in italics were underlined instead. And some sentences were very hard to make sense of. But I read the book very fast and these problems did not have time to register and annoy me as much.

This book is fun for the times you are seeking some hot cuteness but don't really want to commit to a large book.

My first Penny Wylder book and I liked it. It's a light quick office romance and I'm glad she's a safe author for me. Will definitely read more of her books.

The story is about Charles, 32 and Alyssa.

Alyssa's the newly hired Executive Assistant for the CEO, Charles Saxon. One of her co-workers warned her about his reputation with women including his secretaries So the first time they met, she set some ground rules and to keep their relationship entirely professional.

Charles respects her wishes until he saw a website where she writes her fantasies about him. He made his move and they started their hot affair.

There's a cute epilogue.

I downloaded this after reading Her Dad's Friend, which had a wonderfully snarky FMC and some sexy scenes. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and wanted to give her another go.
It was hard to believe this was written by the same person.
Full of errors, wrong words, and confusing sentences, i.e. "But would that really help? I don't know, but the water does." Really? The water knows? Amazing! It was not only hard to read, it was annoying. Once you read (and sometimes reread) the scenes and understood what was going on, it was still pretty lackluster.
Alyssa is Charles' new executive assistant, and of course, it's instant attraction for both. Hearing that he's a manwhore, Alyssa tells him upfront that she wants to keep things professional, which he respects, until...are you ready for this? He happens upon the dirty fantasies she's writing about him on her work computer. This is where I lost all respect for the FMC. Who does this? Less than a week on the job and she's sneaking around using company time on some fetish site to write down all her dirty 'I wanna be dominated' fantasies about her boss? Um, no.
Of course we go straight from discovery to "You will obey me" and "Command me, Sir" and from there, it's a quick fall straight into love. Add in a small drama with a coworker to add a little angst and call it a day. Nope, this one just didn't work for me.

So. Filthy Boss.

Filthy Boss was infuriating.

The author of Filthy Boss substituted underlines for italics. I don't own a physical Kindle, I use the Kindle App on my iPhone. This means that I'm reading all of my KU books on my phone...

...and I run into this.

Every word that looks like it would be italicized has been underlined. When the heroine's fantasy was on page, it was underlined. That equated to 5 or more pages of underlined words. Underlined words that made my eyes cross. Underlined pages that I did NOT read.

filthy boss underline

Someone suggested that the underlines may have been for the editor to convert into italics. I don't care. If it was, that means that NOBODY even bothered to flip through this file before uploading to Amazon (though I still think nobody beta read/edited this book). Fuck this book, you only get one pair of eyes in life and this damn book isn't worth mine.

Ok, Penny Wylder, you've definitely got my attention. I already read (and loved) My Dad's Friend....and now this is yet another hit for me.

Great main characters who are so wonderful together. There is sweetness, devotion and a hell of a lot of steamy sex!

-hot filthy talking boss
-extremely likeable heroine
-steamy hot sex scenes
-no cheating or ow/om drama
-just a smidge of pushing away at first but it thankfully doesn't last long.
-hardly any angst whatsoever
-too short of an epilogue, but the author offers a bonus epilogue if you sign up for her mailing list. It was cute and about a year later. The greedy bitch that I am still wanted more!

I will definitely check out more from this author. I hope she keeps them safe and hot!

Pretty good smut-tastic book.
Alyssa and Charles have Smokin chemistry. Insta lust and later love, mild bdsm elements and a HEA. Loved the BJ scene under the desk.
It just had something missing for me, or I'd have given it a higher rating.
Safe read

When Alyssa is hired to be the secretary for Charles, she gets warned right away about his tendency to sleep with his secretaries. It is only a matter of time though before she realizes she believed a false truth. Charles wants Alyssa and once she is on board on seeing where the attraction will lead he plans to make sure she knows she isn't going anywhere. However someone else seems intent on splitting them up.

Fun story. Was a bit quick and I think I would have liked it longer. When Charles and Alyssa meet it is pretty funny.

MOVE ASIDE ALEXA RILEY BECAUSE PENNY WYLDER GOT ME GOOD.

Her novellas are short but unlike other novellas you grab from off the market, Penny Wylder delivers sexy short reads with strong male and female characters who fall head over heels in love AND with little to no dumb events! For example, the males typically admit their feelings and are gentle sweethearts!!!!

I didn't set out to read this because first and foremost: Boss getting down and dirty with his young female staff is kind of a trigger for me to punch someone in the balls.

The story's alright actually. There were some parts i like and some parts i felt i tolerated. So to break it down:

1) The story format: told in dual POV, does not waste a lot of paragraphs on minute descriptions of how they look, what they wear, how they feel deep down inside. On the other hand, I felt like the whole story is undecided. Is it a smutty romance? Is it romance with a touch of erotica? The story has a number of things going on but quickly moves from one scene to another; it's a sandwich of actual story (the romance part) and the D/s part. And there were a lot of scenes simplified and mentioned in passing (example: how they beat the villain).

2) The characters: nothing extraordinary but have the potential to be if this is a full-fledged novel. Typical young smart and efficient secretary, typical hot lusty young boss/ owner of company. The girl made some effort (keyword: minimal) to fend herself from his advances but boss is very persistent (keyword: blackmail). At least Alyssa's not as annoying as a certain character named Anastasia.........

3) The villain: not devious or evil enough but contributes decently in stirring sh*t for the main characters. Uneventfully destroyed in a blink.

4) Mild BDSM: It's like a BDSM for Beginners manual. (You can even try it at home..hehe). Also, the sexytimes are hot.

5) Alyssa's mom: she 's got mommy ESP and called out on the filthy boss immediately which, to me, is always cool in a story.

6) Ooops moments: writing BDSM erotica using the office computer? Not locking the door when YOU KNOW there is a 110% chance of kinky stuff happening the moment you walk in and getting caught?

All in all, the story's not too bad but maybe i was expecting something more altogether.

4 Rule number three stars

Alyssa has scored a new job, but her only problem is it's as secretary to the notorious womanising Charles Saxon. She's determined not to become another notch on his proverbial bedpost, so suggests to him that they need to keep things professional.

Charles isn't happy with Alyssa's request, not only because his reputation has no foundation, but he also resents the controlling suggestion.

What ensues when Charles gets sight of Alyssa's closely guarded fantasy list, is his decision to be anything but professional.

I adore a good office romance, and this was a goodie, albeit short. I enjoyed Penny's writing, given this is her debut novella offering, and I liked both of her MC's. In a limited number of pages, she managed to establish a great character connection, as well as a well crafted story. This was assisted by alternate POV's, which always gets the story rolling.

In summary, i enjoyed the short time I spent with Mr Saxon the Dominator.

5 HOT Stars

I LOVED this book! This was my first read by this author but most definitely won't be the last. I loved everything about this story.

The writing was terrific, and although it was a fairly short and fast paced story filled with lots of HOT sex, I absolutely was in love with it. The characters, Charles and Alyssa were hot, sexy, fun and flirty. Was this an insta-love, insta-lust, oh hell yes and it was done just right for me! Anyone who wants a feel good, literally, wink, wink, story and is limited on time, this is a great fast story. I also found it was a great read with no drama and needless angst, it was just an awesome feel good story that left me with a huge smile on my face! Sometimes, I need that "emotional" break from an intense read and this was just the ticket for me!

Congrats Author Penny Wylder, I am hooked and you have now moved onto my ever growing list of go-to/must read authors:)

The first novella I read by Penny Wylder was sweet and light. This one was a little too much for me.

Maybe I didn't notice the grammar mistakes in the other book, but this one was riddled with them. Words were missing; the wrong pronouns were used. If the story isn't strong enough, I tend to notice these things more often.

I think even though the subjects of the stories are different, the novellas by this author might be a bit formulaic. It is probably best not to read them in succession, so I'll take a break from her work for a while.

A dirty, flirty, fantasy come to life, insta-love story that was an enjoyable read.

A quick few chapters of smut-filled decadence, where you don't need to look too deeply into the plot, just allow yourself to get swept up in the OTT-ness of Alyssa & Charles exploring the world of sexual control, domination and experiencing your dirty desires come to life.

This is the first book by Penny Wylder and I loved it and I hope she keeps them coming. Alyssa left her job in Los Angeles because her boss was too demanding and moved to New York City. She just got a job with Saxton Hotels as Charles Saxton's personal secretary. She goes to an office party before she starts her job and a conniving co-worker warns her that Charles can't keep it in his pants and she should set boundaries with him immediately. Alyssa believes the girl is looking out for her by giving her the heads up and when Charles approaches her she tells him their relationship will be professional only. Charles thinks his new secretary is beautiful and is taken aback when she gives him an attitude about his reputation and that she is only interested in being his secretary. He can't understand where it's coming from because he's never had an inappropriate relationship with any of his employees. They start working together and both of them are secretly fantasizing about the other one but keeping it professional in the office. One day when Alyssa leaves work early Charles looks on her computer and finds a website called Tantalize where she has been writing very vivid sex stories about the two of them that all involve him dominating and her submitting to him. He is surprised and excited to see he's not the only one fantasizing about how great sex could be between them. He confronts her and the two of them start having a hot and steamy secret affair until a jealous, manipulative employee catches them and tries to break them up.

3.5 stars This was a short read but it was sweet. Alyssa is warned off from her boss Charles when she starts her new job. She is told he is a player so she nips that in the bud as soon as she meets him even though she is insanely attracted to him. Charles sees that shut down and promises to keep it professional until he realizes Alyssa wasn't as upfront about her feelings as she stated. This book was short and it was kind of insta-love but it didn't have that feel to it because Charles was adamant about not making it just about sex from the start. I liked the progression of the story because even though it was short the story seemed very developed. The only issue to me was the light bdsm elements to the story. I dunno for some reason it just didn't mesh well to me but it didn't deter from the story. All it all this was a nice short read and I would recommend this.

Read 2: Omg the second hand embarrassment when he finds her stories hits so hard lol. It’s steamier than I remember. Charles has to be the one in control in the bedroom and I like that. The only thing that’s a little weird is that I don’t feel like I really understand how he saved the company. They got engaged to fix it for some reason… then all the other problems and company leaks disappeared? lol. Oh well I’ll just roll with it.

This was a pretty good boss/secretary romance. If you don’t want your boss to find out about your major lusting after him (Maybe you do!) don’t write explicit fantasies on a public website and definitely don’t leave that window open on your computer when you leave for the day. It seemed to work out for Alyssa but I don’t think the rest of us would be that fortunate.

Well, I decided to read this one after reading "Her dad's friend" by the same author and that one was a really lovely story and the writing was great.

But this book was totally disappointment. The writing was so meh...it's like it was written from a different person. The editing was horrible, there was no story plot and no characters development...just two people having sex.
And to be honest he wasn't filthy at all...total the opposite.

So no...I didn't like this one.

There were a few issues with the editing, and I'm the type that notices even the smallest mistake when reading, so it distracted me a bit.
But other than that, this was funny, steamy and (of course) had a HEA.

The Boss is dirty but she is to blame!

Woowzers! Can't fault him for being on edge when he discovers her little secret! I bet part of him wanted to spank her right there when he read that. Filrhy Boss is steamy work place fun with a demanding boss and a very willing assistant.

This is a brand new author and a brand new book! It’s also available through Kindle Unlimited.
Alyssa starts a new job as the secretary to sinfully delicious Charles Saxon. Alyssa lays it all out for Charles right away, letting him know that their working relationship must be kept professional. However, Charles’s imagination runs wild with the things he would like to do with her after he comes across something she left pulled up on her computer.
This book really needs some editing. At one point, I’m not sure what happens because it’s so well written and put together and then about 25% in I started to see quite a few grammatical errors. It became a little disruptive to the flow of my reading.
I still found myself enjoying the book, the plot and the characters, a lot actually. This is a quick book, of course it’s a novella so I expected insta-love as far as the relationship goes. It was actually pretty well developed considering the length of the book. It is a steamy read and most of those scenes are written well. I didn’t really find Charles that dominating but it was still good to read. It felt more like a couple role-playing, like Charles was helping Alyssa make her fantasies a reality.
I would love to see what this author does with a full length book.
