I'm not sure how to rate this one yet. So I'm giving it 3 stars for now. The exercises varied from thorough and confrontational to fun and inspiring. And while I feel inspired and refreshed having finished it and I got a lot of helpful information, I don't feel like the work I did for this is ground breaking or huge or monumental or what ever it is that most people expect or hope for when getting into self help books like this. But maybe that's a good thing. We'll see...

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anaïs Nin

Nancy Levin is an author, speaker and coach/mentor who used to be an Events Organiser for Hay House until one day she decided she wanted to re-orient her life and fortunately had such a good relationship with her boss, she was able to be open and honest about the need for a change and given the time to prepare for doing so.

He advised her not to do anything rash straightaway, to go away and research what she wanted to do and then when she was ready and prepared for the transition, she could do so with less fear and with their support. Thus she went from being the organiser to being a coach herself, for people who could identify with where she had been, the kind of constraints she had confronted and were ready for her to inspire them to do the same.

That transition she made and the mentoring she received became the subject of her first book Jump...And Your Life Will Appear: An Inch-by-Inch Guide to Making a Major Change - an inch by inch guide to making a major change in your life.

I haven't read this earlier book, I came across Nancy Levin via the intuitive coach I regularly listen to Colette Baron Reid whose book Uncharted: The Journey through Uncertainty to Infinite Possibility, I read and reviewed in 2016. As a part of the lead up to reading Colette's book, I listened to a lot of her 'real and raw' conversations she had with people whose work she admired, unscripted conversations talking about their perspectives on spirituality, the universe and the things that were helping them to navigate life, that they shared. All these conversations are really interesting and we find that some resonate more than others.

Nancy Levin's conversation was particularly interesting because she had been in quite a traditional realm prior to making this jump, so I think she attracts quite a few followers who are not quite ready to jump, who are dependent on an unfulfilling job, their spouse, their family, their home, but who have that feeling that they not entirely fulfilled by what they are doing in their lives and would like some tools or resources to help them make the shift.

During the conversation, they explore how people often put their worth in the hands of others, that worth isn't related to what we do or do not do, it's about coming into the right relationship with ourselves first, the subject explored in her new book.

In Worthy: Boost Your Self-Worth to Grow Your Net Worth, she takes the jump a step further and analyses what might be behind the reluctance, or resistance as she likes to call it, to change. She tells the story behind the story of her own life, of how she rarely spent money on herself, but often on her husband because she was trying to make him happy. Through coaching, she was able to have greater awareness of her own patterns and see how she was getting in her own way of achieving what she wanted.

However, just having this knowledge isn't enough to make a change, so in the new book, she takes the reader through a number of exercises to discover our own patterns, habits and inclinations and how they might be limiting our ability to move into that life that we would prefer to be living.

She refers to them as shadow beliefs, a term introduced by her mentor Debbie Ford, beliefs formed when we were so young, they hide outside our conscious awareness. They are nourished by thoughts and situations that confirm their existence, providing further resistance against any desire to change.

Having identified those beliefs (or excuses), she then invites us to prove them wrong, to find the counter belief and phrase it.
"Excuses are actually just well packaged resistance. But our resistance has a lot to do with our self-worth. When we feel worthy, we don't resist what's good for us. We feel we deserve what we want, so we find it much easier to step right over our fears and go for it. That's the blessing of worthiness. If we don't feel we deserve what we want, we let resistance keep us down."

She dissects a number of the more common excuses and beliefs and uncovers the real reason for the resistance beneath it, using case studies of clients she has worked with and her own personal story.

The book moves further on, into defining what you want most and how to move from excuses to action, to taking back your power, taking responsibility, practising self-trust and self-respect.

A lot of the messages relate to financial empowerment and how this connects to other aspects of our lives and ability to make decisions. It ends with an exercise to create a list of 50 desires, five of which must be altruistic desires for other people, readying the reader for taking action, getting ready to do the impossible.

It's a thought-provoking read that's likely to be uncomfortable at times, digging into one's own limiting beliefs, but rewarding by allowing us a way to explore the shadow side and then express the opposite, the things that you want to do, that you may not have ever taken seriously or even expressed and daring you to take action and allow those desires to manifest.
"What is now proved was once only imagined." William Blake

What if I told you that your net worth is determined by your self-worth, and by self-worth I mean how you treat yourself. A more convincing way would be reading Nancy Levin's Worthy-Boost Your Self-Worth to Grow Your Net Worth. According to her, the real key to financial freedom isn't changing what we do, it's changing how we feel.

In this book Levin elaborates the bridge between our reflection of self-worth and the state of our net worth. She explains how dealing with money issues is directly proportional to about how we deal with ourselves. The book provides ten steps to experience her belief which Levin wants us to understand. In each step Levin offers an amount of exercises and examples to work through our limiting belief. Some anecdotes are written in a manner that explain this concept better.

There aren't any technical financial advice or information on funds, and investments. This book falls under the categories of inspiration, and motivational. The writing is smooth and does not have a major effect on the book overall as this is a nonfiction book. The length of the book does not have any affect over the context either.

I enjoyed reading this book and I think if you decide to pick this one, it's worthy of your time.

I’m not sure what to make of this book. It came highly recommended by someone I trust and respect, and I enjoyed the hell out of the first half or so. I was doing the exercises, and I was finding it really helpful and eye-opening. But then there was an exercise where you were supposed to write some stuff down on paper and burn it, and last time I did that, it stank up the house and was really a hassle. I don’t know what printer paper is made out of now, but it doesn’t seem to be wood pulp or anything that’s good at burning.

So there I stopped. The book sat for months.

Then, I finally picked it back up (decided to just read on until I could motivate myself to burn some dumb weird paper), and it had a few more good pages but then suddenly seemed to be all about what to do if you’re completely clueless about your finances (and/or finances in general) and relying on someone else to handle all that for you. Lots of advice to find out what bank accounts your household has, how much is in them, learn how to balance a checkbook, start making your own money—stuff like that. I’ve had my own checking account since junior high, and until a few years ago, I always balanced it down to the penny. Other than my dad, I’ve never had a man pay for all my stuff or handle the finances. So roughly the entire second half of the book, I didn’t relate to at all.

I’m sure the experience of this book wouldn’t be quite so jarring if I hadn’t happened to set it down for most of a year just a few pages before the shift. Now I hardly remember the beginning.

I’m really disappointed, because I was hoping the book would help me once and for all unlock my old unworthiness shit, feel fully worthy of all good things, and let in lots of blessings (specifically money, but other stuff, too). It really didn’t do that. The exercises in the beginning seemed pretty helpful, though.

There is a strong correlation between your self-worth and the abundance you allow yourself to bring into your life. After learning more about the law of attraction, I was guided to learn more about self-worth. At first, I didn’t find very much of the book resonating with me. However, once I got past the book's halfway point, I found myself resonating with the content more and more. It makes sense because the book is her step-by-step program. And so, I wasn’t resonating with the earlier steps because I was no longer at those stages. And as I went along, I met myself where I was at, and more and more of her words began to strike a chord in me. So if you feel that the book isn’t resonating with you at first, it may just be that you are farther down the path, but there may be something for you in the later chapters! Overall, I’d highly recommend this book! This inner work is crucial if you want to create the life of your dreams.

I really like the author, but this book didn’t work for me so I quit half-way through. Unfortunately it lumps together advice for people who make their own money and those who don’t - target groups with very different circumstances and requirements. I felt like half of what t read was wasting my time because it did not apply, and I’m sure if I were in the other target group, I would feel the same way. This should be two similar but separate books.

Nancy Levin’s Worthy goes straight to the heart of what keeps so many women from stepping into their full financial power—and it has nothing to do with spreadsheets or strategy. This is a book about the deeply rooted connection between self-worth and net worth, and it’s one I wish I had read years ago. This book doesn’t just offer insight—it invites you into a profound internal shift. It’s about money, yes—but more than that, it’s about the beliefs we carry about ourselves, and how those beliefs shape every financial decision we make. Nancy doesn’t just give you permission to want more—she gently (but firmly) guides you to believe you deserve it. Her work beautifully echoes the emotional journey I continue to learn from - uncovering how money, love, and self-trust are intimately woven together.
Right out of the gate, Worthy aligns with my first pillar of taking personal responsibility. Levin challenges us to look at the unconscious contracts we’ve made—about money, love, safety, and even visibility. She lovingly exposes how we sometimes stay small because we think it’s safer, or because we’ve been taught that wanting more makes us selfish. But here’s the truth: when we take responsibility for our internal landscape, we gain access to a whole new level of external abundance. Nancy’s exercises, especially around rewriting your personal “worthiness story,” are deeply transformative.
Levin’s genius lies in how she connects net worth to self-worth in a way that feels deeply personal and spiritual without being abstract. She doesn’t shame or lecture—she invites. Through journal prompts and storytelling, she helps you unearth the quiet contracts you’ve made with yourself that say “I’m not allowed to want that” or “I have to stay small to stay safe.” I recognized so much of what she names: the way we limit ourselves not just by what we earn, but by what we believe we deserve to earn.
Levin encourages readers to tune into the voice of their higher self, to stop compromising for breadcrumbs, and to stop saying yes to relationships, jobs, or financial patterns that feel misaligned. She reminds us that our desires are divine—and that settling is just another way we reinforce the belief that we’re not enough. As someone who has built an entire philosophy around this exact truth, say No when it is not a Hell Yes, I felt seen and supported reading every chapter.
And of course, Don’t take things personally is a crucial part of the work Levin offers. She explains that our financial outcomes are not a reflection of our inherent value, but rather the residue of old stories we've outgrown. The healing begins when we stop interpreting setbacks as proof of our inadequacy and start seeing them as invitations to rise. This book isn’t about hustle—it’s about clearing out the emotional debris that keeps us from receiving, and that’s a message every woman needs to hear.Worthy isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to the version of you who always knew she was enough. This book is for every woman who is ready to rise into a life that matches her true value. Not someday—now.

I'd like to think that I can move forward in positive ways that will help me increase my knowledge about finances as well as help to grow some dollars in an account.

The book has some useful exercises for women to take to begin to shed doubts & fears about money. To become more assertive around decisions about money and investments. Some of the stories are good. They help to illustrate how small changes can make a big difference in savings.

It is hard to feel empathy for the author as she shares her personal struggles as it sounds like lack of money has never been an issue.

A treasured book

Hi Nancy, thank you for sharing your story & beautiful words of wisdom. I’ve had self worth issues forever & this book is not only inspiring but very practical & useful. I enjoyed you sharing your clients’ stories & how they overcame self-worth issues. I actually met you briefly before a Next Step Day in Sydney in 2012 I think, & you said, “Oh what a surprise you will get today.” We got Louise for the day. I’m a writer too & love following your journey. Your writing & poetry is spectacular. Heartfelt thanks & love to you xxx

I adore this book. If you have any unhealthy, negative emotions related to money, this book and the exercises within in can do wonders! If you keep struggling with the same-old bad money habits, there could be an underlying cause that’s tied to your emotions. This book is for you! Loved it and love Nancy’s voice so much. I enjoyed her vulnerable sharing of personal stories as well. Really great read.

Most personal finance books mention mindset as a passing note, but this one is entirely about changing your mindset—more so than about money itself.

It’s mostly geared toward women who struggle with their finances or aren’t the primary breadwinner. While I don’t fall into either category, I still found the book useful. You could easily swap the word "money" with "food" or "relationships" and use it to shift your mindset in those areas, too.

I got a lot of this book by way of the exercises, unearthing my beliefs and patterns about money and some of the ideas about saving. The author's examples mostly revolved around this horrible divorce she went through; while some of the examples were helpful, I was so sick of hearing "when I went through my divorce..." it took me away from the message.

This was just okay. Not really relevant or what I was looking for. More for people who don't have a handle on their financial situation or are reliant on someone else for financial support. She does provide helpful and thoughtful exercises for those who need help in these areas to get a handle on their attitudes about money.

A lot of exercises to help you uncover limiting beliefs that might prevent you from making money. I enjoyed reading this book even though I haven’t really learned anything new about myself - in personal development, repetition is key! An enjoyable read that gave me motivation, which was what I was looking for.

Spent several moths working on this. I did every single exercise in this book. It has had a profound impact on me and the way I look at finances; self worth is a main player. Would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to go on a journey with themselves. Manifesting that more abundance lies at the end of this, for myself and everyone else!

WORTHY main idea focuses on “our self-worth determines our net worth.” Furthermore, not only about how we feel dealing with money issues but ourselves generally.

This book is about
Shadow work.

1) Discovering limiting beliefs, underlying commitments and excuses, 2) steps to act to eliminate them, and 3) create expansive ones to follow our dreams.

This book isn’t about
Advance technical financial advice. Don’t expect information about investments, retirement funds, etc.

However, first steps for financial advice are available for categories of ‘powerful decisions’ such as hiring someone, spending money, saving money, making money and handling money better.

CONTENT:

STEP ONE: Take off the blinders
STEP TWO: Admit who holds the purse strings
STEP THREE: Take inventory of your beliefs
STEP FOUR: Tally the cost of your excuses
STEP FIVE: Uncover your underlying commitments
STEP SIX: Become willing to be worthy
STEP SEVEN: Take back your financial power
STEP EIGHTH: Make one powerful financial decision
STEP NINE: Uncover your desires – financial and otherwise
STEP TENTH: Get ready to do the impossible

The author experience shows how an event interpretation affects our beliefs system since childhood, how fragile it can be, and get distorted in the process. Nancy Levin provides plenty of exercises and examples to endure the inner work to eradicate the limiting belief of ‘being not enough’ that creates ‘having not enough’. Moreover, a couple of examples of how dealing with shadow work for self-worth around money spreads to other areas and resolves issues as eating disorder and nail-biting that apparently weren’t related.

I enjoyed reading WORTHY, and the awareness that these ideas provoke.

You know how they have those signs that say not to dig here until you call that number because there just happens to be something dangerous under the surface? Well that thought comes to mind about how that thing that is buried is often our self-worth, and it may lay there buried for the rest of our lives and we would have an okay life, but Nancy Levin's book, Worthy, is like right, knowing crew digging and exposing that dangerous and sensitive item so that it can be repaired properly, and that result leads to a dramatically improved life, or result. Self-worthiness is a sensitive topic, and Nancy has skillfully exposed how having it or not having it leads our lives without our awareness, and even more, how it is so closely associated with money.

This book is aimed at women. It is obvious from the way it is written. And, having read it and done the exercises, I can with all enthusiasm recommend this to every woman who is old enough to read. At the same time, I found it so helpful for me, and so I also recommend it for men, for the obvious benefit of gaining greater self-worth, and for the perspective it presents of the women clients Nancy has helped and their situations and feelings about relationships and marriage and how money affects them.

I rave about this book and I think that it contains mountains of value for anyone who desires to partake. I've learned a lot in my life, and this helps bring many things into clarity about how I have dealt with money, and more important, how I have felt about it. I see now how much self-worthiness is a determining factor in any person's life. I am very grateful that Nancy took the time, energy, and used her experience to present this subject in this way. I am invigorated anew.

Want more money? Up your self-esteem. In Worthy: Boost Your Self-Worth to Grow Your Net Worth, Nancy Levin claims that your financial situation is determined by the way you feel about yourself. In other words, if you don't feel worthy of an abundant life, you won't take the financial steps necessary to get there.

In her book, Levin explains how the way you treat yourself affects the way you treat money and helps you figure out what negative beliefs are holding you back from loving yourself and achieving the financial security you deserve. Each chapter is accompanied by exercises that'll allow you to put her suggestions into practice and build an empowering and loving relationship with yourself and money.

But if it's the technical advice you're looking for, you won't find it here. Levin doesn't tell you how to invest your money, how to get out of debt or save for retirement. That comes later. Before you can do all that, you need to learn to love and believe in yourself.

If you've been struggling with money and low self-esteem all your life, I highly recommend you pick up this book and do all the exercises. Cos reading ain't enough. Nothing will change if you don't do the work.

Worthy of 5 Stars

I loved Nancy Levin's book 'Jump....and your life will appear', so buying this one was a no-brainer for me. Like many other women, I have big dreams but when it comes to making them happen, I'm blocked. I never used to be like that, but then my confidence and self worth have taken a beating recently. I wondered if this book would help me to get over these obstacles and it has. If you feel undeserving of financial freedom, this book is for you. A word of warning, though. Nothing will happen if you just read the book. You have to be committed to take the time to do the exercises and really dig deep in order to gain the best results. I'll definitely be recommending this book to all my clients. Thanks to Nancy for putting this book out into the world.
