Marissa Clarke was going to murder someone. And that someone was her former sorority sister—now former friend—who had just kicked her out of her own hotel room…in the middle of the night…at their friend's wedding…for some hanky-panky with an old fling. So much for sisterhood. With no room in the inn and no place to stay, she's forced to accept help from the last person she ever wanted to spend the night with Scott, devilishly handsome, smart, and her ex-fiance's ex-best man.

Scott Parker has loved Marissa since the first day he bumped into her freshman year of college. Only he'd never been able to tell her. After all, you didn't just grab your best friend's girlfriend, kiss her and tell her she was the One for you, no matter how often he'd dreamed about it. Now, years later, Marissa is single and, in a moment of pure luck, staying at his cabin. When a winter storm blocks the roads and snows the two of them in, Scott is determined to make Marissa see there can be more between them than a shared history...if only she'll let him.

I really enjoyed this sexy romance! Marissa and Scott had fantastic chemistry and the sexy times were super hot in this one. I got exactly what I was looking for when I read this book - a sexy, snowed in romance. My only little complaint is that Marissa kind of got on my nerves at times but overall I really enjoyed this one.

This was a very up and down read for me. Parts of it I really enjoyed - the opening scene for starters, when the heroine loses her hotel room because of her "friend" and the early snowed-in parts at the hero's cabin. But then the heroine starts running hot and cold (she's wanting to climb the hero like a jungle gym one minute, the next she's prudish) and the tissue thin plot is propped up with filler sex scenes - until the end, when the heroine doth protest too much. Frankly she's stubborn for the sake of conflict and while I normally might think the hero is railroading her, it's easier to take his side because damn, I understand her baggage but her stubbornness is like next level. A quick read, not overly offensive, but meh.

Marissa is generous enough to share her hotel room with Christa, one of her sorority friends. They're at her best friend's Tanya's wedding and there Christa met an old boyfriend. They want to rekindle their flame and need privacy, so Christa has locked Marissa out of her own hotel room. Fortunately Marissa doesn't have to sleep in the hallway, because Scott, an old friend and teammate of her ex-fiancé, who jilted her at her wedding day, offers Marissa the guestroom of his mountain cabin. She isn't happy with the arrangement, but there's nowhere else she can go.

Scott has always liked Marissa, so he can't believe his luck. He can finally make things right between them. Marissa's ex-fiancé didn't treat her kindly, but Scott never told her anything about the affairs all the guys of their team knew he had. Scott still regrets he wasn't a good friend to her. Marissa has come a long way since then and there is a lot about her that he doesn't know. She has a good job and can take care of herself. Marissa is attracted to Scott, but she's built strong walls around her heart after her disastrous wedding day, will he be able to break them? Maybe with a little help from a snowstorm Scott gets the chance he's been dreaming about for years.

Snowed In is a sexy story about two people who have plenty of chemistry. The story alternates between Scott and Marissa and I enjoyed reading both of their perspectives. Scott is a successful businessman, who prefers spending his free time outside. He loves all outdoor sports. Marissa is more of a city girl and isn't used to being in a remote cabin in snowy mountains. They are both sweet and they care about others. Marrisa has a vulnerable side and Scott tries to get through to her by being everything she wants and needs. They have plenty of discussions, but they don't have useless fights. Each time their opinions are different they talk things through and this solidifies their relationship, which is something I liked very much. There are quite a few heated and hot scenes and even though Scott and Marissa are snowed in they don't notice the cold, because inside the cabin there's fire.

Jenna Bayley-Burke has written a fun book about two interesting main characters. Scott makes Marissa less reserved and Marissa makes Scott discover his gentle side. I liked the effect they have on each other. There are plenty of sparks, but they have a connection on a deeper level as well. The relationship isn't without struggles and the road is rocky for the two of them. It's worth it though and the ending of the story is really romantic. Snowed In is a lovely charming book that's perfect for a cold winter evening.

This ticked a few boxes for me... locked up in a secluded cabin together? - check. Frenemies to lovers? Check!

Add in the fact that they didn't jump right into bed with each other? Check - though there is plenty of sexy times to be had.

Snowed In is the second Jenna Bayley-Burke book that I have read, and she has quickly become an author that I keep on my "what's coming next" list.

They have their history that has tainted their relationship in the past, but they can't fight that attraction. The dirty talking, UST busting banter between them had me hoping that they could get past their issues as I knew that they could be something great.

And it made this Aussie girl want to get snowed in with a sexy guy for a few days!

Grab yourself a cuppa, a comfy chair and a couple of hours where you won't be interrupted and enjoy Snowed In.

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance book and Snowed In by Jenna Bayley-Burke is just that. This is the second book from the More Than Friends series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Marissa Clarke was just a freshman in college when Scott Parker saw her and fell hard for her.
However, she was dating the star basketball player, who just so happened to be one of his teammates. The “one” for Scott was someone else’s girl. Fast forward a few years later when Scott watches his teammate and now groom-to-be break the heart of the girl he loves more than anything. Scott knew that Marissa was oblivious to her fiance's cheating ways but knew he was damned if he told her, damned if he didn’t. Well, Scott didn’t tell her and the feud began.

Marissa is now an event planner helping to run one of her best friends’ wedding along with being the Maid of Honor. While there, she runs into a former college classmate Scott Parker and is very obviously trying to avoid him at all costs since he knew what exactly was going on with her ex-fiance.

Successful business owner Scott Parker has always held every girl to the standard of Marissa. Seeing her again after all this time at their friend's’ wedding has brought up all his feeling for her once again.

After the wedding, Marissa is stranded without a hotel room and has only Scott to save her. After a massive snowstorm, they are Snowed In and both give in to the amazing chemistry they have together. Now they just have to figure out how they can be together while their lives lead them in different directions.

Snowed In was a charming tale of one person knowing they belong together and one person just figuring it out. The sexual tension between the two could have melted all the snow they were stranded in and the dirty talk….WOW!!!

I give Snowed In (More than Friends #2) by Jenna Bayley-Burke 4 stars!

Despite the high heat rating of this book, I feel lukewarm about it. Mostly because of Marissa. She’s supposed to be super-organised and smart, but she spends a lot of this book being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn. And also switching quickly between sex-crazed and prudish. I struggled to like her.

Which is odd, because I was definitely on her side when her so-called friend booted her out of her own hotel room, and I could also understand why she was reluctant to give up everything for Scott. But then again, with the job offers her best friend was offering her and her lack of life in Seattle, what was she really giving up? Nothing. And what did she have to gain? Everything. Sure, I could see why she might have commitment issues, but mostly I just found her annoying.

As for Scott. Well, he’s less annoying, but there’s not really a lot more to him than that. He knows what he wants, he can be sexy, but I found him slightly lacking in depth. There’s a hint of tension regarding his dad and the family business, but it doesn’t really go anywhere. The sexy banter also felt a bit flat for me.

So overall this one didn’t work for me. If, however, you’re looking for a second chance, enemies to lovers read with lots of sex and snow, you might enjoy this. If you need something a bit more than sex and snow, you probably won’t find it here.

Snowed In by Jenna Bagley-Burke
More than Friends #2

I had trouble with this one and have to admit it is my fault. Why? I kept trying to see myself in Marissa’s situation and it has been so many years since that time in my life that THAT imagining is…not so easy. I can see her trying to do the organize and help the bride thing to the best of her ability for a friend, leaving a hotel room for her sorority friend so she could indulge herself with??? (though why? – I was never a sorority person so??? Let the princess have my room?) being stuck in a cabin with a hunky guy that new the guy I did not marry and then and now still wants me BUT…considered me a friend but what kind of a friend if he was unwilling to share truths I needed to know with me? To me she came across as not having dealt with HER past and he is still dwelling in HIS past and…well…I loooved their times together after they were thrust together, their times trying to figure it out BUT…I maybe lost something by not having read book 1? I just cannot seem to see why HE wanted her. My bad. Or…not. I liked the book and the interaction between the two main characters but…well…I am sort of underwhelmed although…he was a guy I could get behind, in front of OR wherever he wanted me to be…for whatever ;)

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This is my honest review.

This is a super sexy fun read. It's a second chance story of sorts. Scott Parker has had a thing for Marissa Clarke for years. First she was taken. Engaged to one of his teammates. Then she hated him for the part she perceived he was involved with her groom to be leaving her at the altar. Now she's completely engrossed in her job. They really need to talk and clear the air but she is avoided him. When her roommate locks her out of the room for a little fun in the sack, Marissa finds herself in need of a place to stay. Scott just happens to have an extra room. Perfect!! It's a nice long ride and no way can she ignore him the whole time. An early season storm helps him out further when they get snowed in. Will he be able to convince her they would be great together??

This one is very well done and definitely one I recommend.

We all have our romantic fantasies and Snowed In definitely fulfills a couple of mine. Enemies to lovers, and being stranded because of bad weather, are just two of the tropes author Jenna Bayley-Burke executes beautifully. This is the second book from the More Than Friends series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Book one was equally as good.

Event planner Marissa Clarke dated the same guy throughout high school and college. Only minutes before the wedding ceremony, Marissa's groom-to-be admitted he was cheating on her, and left her to handle the fallout. Needless to say, Marissa was upset, embarrassed and humiliated, and from that day forward, finding a soulmate did not exist on her radar. While attending her best friend's wedding, she runs into a former college classmate, who was not only her friend at the time, but knew about her ex-fiance's extracurricular activities.

Adventurer and successful business owner Scott Parker has always held a special place in his heart for Marissa. Being near her at his best friend's wedding only brings back his feelings from the past. When Marissa's roommate commandeers her hotel room for a hook-up, she has no choice but to find a room elsewhere. Scott lives close by and offers Marissa his guest room, since the hotel is completely booked. Due to the massive snowstorm, one night turns into more and Scott and Marissa consummate their desire for each other.

This is both a hot and sweet winter-time romance. Marissa and Scott have a fiery chemistry and the author evolves their relationship with a unique blend of discovery, warmth and desire. I immediately connected with both Marissa and Scott, and there was never a moment that I did not want them to be together. I truly felt Marissa's pain when she reflected back to her planned future which was forever changed. Overall, this is a terrific book with a happy ending that will leave a smile on your face.

This book is Hot. I was so excited to receive a free copy of this via Netgalley. I loved Compromising Positions by Jenna Bayley-Burke and so I jumped at the chance to read this book. I wasn't disappointed.

Marissa is the Maid of Honour at her best friend's wedding, and had agreed to share her room with a friend as a favour. When that so-called "friend" locks her out of her hotel room so that she can enjoy a hook-up with an old flame, Marissa decides to keep the peace and not call hotel security. Her one-time friend from school, Scott, has a cabin nearby and offers her use of his guest room.

Scott has been in love with Marissa from the moment he first saw her, but she had always been with his friend and team-mate, so he never had a shot with her. Now she's single, but only due to the fact that his friend had been cheating on her for years and dumped her at the altar. The betrayal Marissa felt was only made worse by the fact that Scott, who she'd counted as a friend, never told her the truth about her ex.

The two end up back at Scott's cabin, alone, and right at the beginning of a storm. Isolated for the night, they start to put their friendship back together, and as one night becomes several, it is impossible to deny their chemistry. But Scott has waited for years for this chance and refuses to let Marissa slip through his fingers, while Marissa refuses to dedicate her whole life to a man all over again.

Marissa and Scott have seriously hot chemistry, their flirty banter is delightful, and their history makes the story really interesting. I had so much fun reading this book, definitely makes my favourites list! I can even see myself reading it again.

Ah, snowed in. This is definitely a guilty-pleasure trope for me, and Bayley-Burke did not disappoint!

Marissa is too nice for her own good and winds up getting kicked out of her hotel room at her best friend's wedding. Which means she winds up stayed the night with her ex-fiance's college best friend, Scott, just the two of them in the middle of nowhere. Scott is pretty happy at the opportunity to have time with her, having always had a thing for her when they were in school.

In a reversal of typical gender roles, Marissa is the one who just wants some steamy fun with a hottie, while Scott is determined to persuade her to give them a chance long-term. These two really burn up the pages in this one, not excluding some pretty damn funny dirty jokes and sexual innuendos. It's not without some fun and charming emotional bonding either - their relationship is a delicious slow-burn that I really enjoyed!

I received an ARC from the publisher to voluntarily review. This is no way influenced my review. My opinion is my own.

Marissa was left at the alter but who she thought was the love of her life. On the day of the wedding her finance; Chris, called off the wedding, he had been cheating on her for a long time.

Scott has been in love with Marissa for a long time he was friends with Marissa's finance and Marissa. Many times he wanted to tell her Chris was cheating on her. Many years later at the wedding of a friend Scott and Marissa meet again but can Marissa forgive Scott for not telling her?

After the wedding she goes back to her room only to find out she can't get in, her room mate has put a chain on the door. With no rooms left at the hotel the only option is to go to Scotts cabin. A snow storm hits and she's stuck at the cabin with Scott.

Can Scott convince her to forgive him and give him a shot? Can Marissa leave Scott after a week of hot sex? Since they live three hours apart can a long distant relationship work?

This is a great story about a second chance at love. I loved the banter between Scott and Marissa and the story was hot. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha.

**My thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book was so hot that it nearly scorched my fingers!!

Frenemies to lovers this book leaves you feeling that happy ending can happen over the festive period and if you only talked thinks out instead of just assuming, then things may have happened sooner.

Marissa is a woman who has been hurt in the past and finds it very hard to trust her heart to anyone since the event that still haunts her.

Scott is a man who cannot find anyone that matches up to the woman that he has always wanted, when the chance comes for him to finally make his play, the man does it in such a way that he gets under Marissa's skin before she realises what as happened.

Stranded at Scott's cabin, both find the best way to ride out the storm and keep warm, whilst getting to know each other and Scott showing exactly the kind of man he is.

I really loved reading this book and struggled to put the book down for even a second.

A must read.

One of my favorite things to do in winter is curl up to as many stranded in snow storm romances as I can find. So when I saw the title and read the blurb for this book, I couldn't wait to dive in.

Not only was this a stranded in a storm book but it was also a rivals to lovers, unrequited love story where the man wants more from the woman than she wants from him. Jackpot!!

This time around I was actually ready to shake the heroine for being so stubborn about taking a sexual relationship to the next level. Marissa was looking for any excuse to not be with Scott because she was scared, but he was not having it. I love seeing a man who knows what he wants and is willing to fight for it, and that is exactly who Scott was.

This story was full of sweet and tender moments intertwined with heat and passion and just a touch of angst. Everything I love to curl up and read on a cold winter evening.

This story was a cute, quick holiday read. I will say, the uptight character of Marissa, the organized Event Planner vs. the sexually wild and uninhibited Marissa were hard for me to merry in my mind. They honestly felt like two different characters at times. She was so sex-crazed that I felt bad for Scott. She treated him like a sexy side of beef rather than the exceptionally decent person he was.

I understand Marissa was heartbroken and completely crushed when her idyllic dream of a life came crashing down around her due to a dick of a guy, but still her treatment of Scott really rubbed me the wrong way at times.

Scott is such a lovely character and I enjoyed how he handled Marissa's singular focus on sex. He was smart and grew as a person because of his past, while Marissa's growth felt forced by spite.

A good read that sucked me in right from the start. If you're looking for a hot little holiday read with some good back and forth banter, check this story out.

There's something about a second chance at love story that sucks me in every time. Add that it's from Jenna Bayley-Burke, my new favourite contemporary author and I'm sold.

With Snowed In you get a wonderfully fun, dirty talkers, sexual tension filled read that you will not want to put down. It was so much fun to watch Scott and Marisa fight the good fight, only to fall and fall hard.

Reading the hot banter between the main characters in Scott and Marisa had me chucking more than once and then reaching for a cool drink, woo boy these two are hot together.

Find a comfy spot, settle in and retreat to a cabin in the woods where reality can take a hike for a while why these two find out that are meant to be.

Thanks to netgalley.com for the ARC. Snowed in with a hunk of hotness this book is good. I so wanted her and Scott to get together and work everything out. Despite their rocky past to get over it and move forward. She is so stuck in her ways and needs to listen to her heart more then her mind. A good second chance romance story.

I can see why there are no more books in the series. I found both books to be mediocre at best. Normally, it would have taken me an afternoon to finish a book of this length. In this case, I needed 4 days! I haven't had such a bad and irritating heroine in a very long time. She had her issues with commitment that seemed to sprout from nowhere. Her family situation was bad but not that bad. I agree that Scot should have told her the truth about Chis before their wedding, but she overreacted especially after she admitted that she was also using Chris. The ending felt rushed and abrupt because the heroine spent almost all of the book being anti-commitment, so her sudden change of heart did nothing for me. Scott is either bland character compared to her. He is normal. Not book boyfriend material but a decent guy whom many would want to date. Overall, I wouldn't recommend either book in the series.

I was given a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Wow what a steamy read this was. If you like plenty of heat and a sexy romance then this book is for you. Together Marissa and Scott are explosive and the outcome is predictable. Can a winter storm prove to them both that a long term relationship is perfect for them together and that they have more than just sex?
I liked the way their relationship and friendship develops and it was nice to have a male not afraid to show his feelings openly.

A cute read about people who get stuck in the "friend zone". Definitely better than some of the Christmas romance I have read this year.
I thought the female lead was a little to hung up about her ex-fiance cheating on her and dumping her years before the book takes place (I mean really, good riddance to bad luggage...). She has gone on and made a life for herself so that redeems her at least a little.

There isn’t much to tell you about the plot of Snowed In that’s not in the blurb—or the title for that matter. What I can tell you is that I genuinely liked this story when I had admittedly low expectations. Just a few weeks ago I reviewed a novella, Like Fresh Fallen Snow, with a very similar premise: successful independent woman works hard, goes to a large event at a hotel, gets snowed in with the man of her dreams, tries to remain independent and ignore her feelings. The set-up in both cases feels entirely contrived. Then again, when the title can serve as the description, you can’t fault it for false advertising. So why did I like Snowed In when I was disposed not to?

Scott Parker. Scott is the best thing about the book. Even if he weren’t tall, dark, and handsome, there’s nothing so attractive as a man who’s in love and desperate to commit. Bayley-Burke puts it beautifully in her dedication, “For everyone who’s ever been burned by a stupid boy. May you find love with a smart one. Let’s hope he’s gorgeous and rich, tall and sporting a six-pack, with captivating eyes and a penchant for saying, ‘I love you’ at random moments. Bonus points if he does the dishes and has memorized Ian Kerner’s She Comes First.”

The female lead as the aggressor isn’t the original twist it once was, but Scott still seems to hold all the cards, even when Marissa is the one coming on to him. Scott doesn’t just want a post wedding fling with Marissa Clark, he wants to keep her for the long haul. Marissa has been hurt in the past and the wedding they’re both attending is all kinds of awkward because of it. When they get snowed in together, Marissa just wants to blow off some stress between the sheets before she goes back to her regularly scheduled life. Scott has other plans and uses the time to make his case. It’s clear to the reader, even if Marissa hasn’t figured it out, that the reason she’s so stubborn when it comes to Scott isn’t because she doesn’t have time for a man in her life, she’s dated since the painful incident, but rather she knows instinctively that Scott matters. She must discover how to integrate the person she was with the one she’s become and why that makes Scott, and the circumstances that go with being with him, perfect for her.

The sex scenes are graphic, but not gratuitous per se. They didn’t read as cheesy. In fact, I have to give Bayley-Burke some kudos for plausible creativity. Sadly though, I have to take some points back for word choices in strange places. I have yet to read a contemporary romance, especially an erotic one where the word “tummy” doesn’t seem out of place. Babies have bellies, children have tummies, and adults have stomachs. It would have been an “A” read for me if she could have stayed away from some less creative phrasing. It’s clear from the rest of the writing that she’s better than that. In fact, I’m looking forward to the third installment in the More Than Friends series.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

SNOWED IN by Jenna Bayley-Burke was a fun fast read, and I have to say there were moments that I was actually laughing out loud.

The story in this book was very well written and developed and the plot was very fast paced and will keep you hooked till the very last page.  The characters in this book are wonderful, the chemistry between Marissa and Scott was just so swoony and you couldn't help but hope that Marissa finally gives in and lets the walls fall to let Scott in.

Marissa, in a small town for her best friends wedding, finds herself kicked out of her hotel room by her friend so said friend can hook up with someone from the wedding, and who should come to the rescue but Scott her ex boyfriends best friend.  What Marissa does not know is that Scott has had a crush on her since they first met in college and wishes that he met her first.  Scott offers up the spare room in his cabin to Marissa, with no where else to go Marissa accepts the offer, but what Marissa does not count on is that a pre winter storm rolls into town and strands Marissa and Scott at the cabin for days, this sets into motion Scott's mission to worm his way into Marissa's heart and pants, permanently, but Marissa has other plans, only for the time they are snowed in will she give over to Scott.  But will that be enough for either one of them, read and find out what happens once the roads are open and Marissa can head home.

SNOWED IN by Jenna Bayley-Burke is one of those feel good romance books that will leave you smiling and hoping that true love will prevail.  I would give SNOWED IN 4/5 snowflakes.

Posted on What I'm Reading

In truth I probably should have DNF Snowed In, but I pressed forward. What caught my attention was the title, who doesn't love a good snowed in story. However, a lot of my trouble laid with Marissa. She pissed me off so much. She extremely rude to Scott. All Scott was trying to do was be a decent guy and try to explain to her what went down in the past. She didn't want anything to do with the information. The only good times were when they were having sex. That was perfectly fine, no talking. When the talking began again it annoyed me, because she didn't want to listen. A lot of the reason I didn't like her was someone had to call her out on it, she played the victim practically the whole story.

So, the things I liked Scott. He wanted to be with Marissa, I don't know why. However, he loved her more power to him. The other thing was the sex. It wasn't great, average, but it beat listening Marissa and Scott talk in circles. I also liked Tanya, because she had to put Marissa in her place. She needed that. Anyway, people loved this book, but this one didn't work for me. I enjoyed Just Married and I was hoping for the same level of fun in Snowed In, but missed the mark for me.

Marissa is attending a friends wedding and when the night was though turns out her friend kicked her out of her own hotel room to have a hook up. Now without a place to stay for the night the last person she would want to see is an old friend Scott. Marissa has been trying to avoid him and now it seems he'll be the one to give her a place to stay. Little did they expect a snow storm to get them stuck in the secluded where things start to heat up.

Wasn't sure what to expect for this book, I did know that it was a holiday book and since its the holiday season I just had to pick up this book. So if your like me looking for a holiday read with plenty of steam this book is for you. I enjoyed the characters and how the story played out. Theres interesting backstory, complicated romance, with loads of spicy scenes and I really enjoyed this book

This is the second book but can be read as a standalone. I give this a 4 for the sexy banter between Marissa and Scott. They have known each other since college. Marissa was once engaged to Scot's teammate. there were things going on that Scott kept secret from Marissa. She has always blamed him for not telling because out of all the people that knew, she counted him as her friend. Scott has always been in love. so when the opportunity presented itself , he took a chance to be with her. After all she went through, Marissa was cautious. I loved Scott he was fun and knew exactly what he wanted. Marissa was a challenge. I get why she was cautious. However, It got to be a little annoying. It seemed like she had her act together, until the story continued on. She was a little bit of a mess . Overall a fun sexy story with a HEA.

So refreshing.

I had to give this four stars. I rarely read this genre, but was looking for a nice tender love story and this certainly fit the bill.
