For the past four years, Nary May’s heart belonged to Saxon “Vicious” Black. Despite the painful reality of unrequited love, her feelings never strayed, no matter what he did. But there comes a time when surviving means letting go.
What she never expected was to find herself fighting for her life and trying to survive a new form of torment threatening to swallow her whole.
Saxon was broken. Never feeling worthy, the last thing he ever wanted to do was taint the woman he loved. But it was easier to push and walk away than leave himself open for more heartache. However, when faced with the possibility of losing Nary to the monsters that invade her dreams, the time to run was over.
To save her means risking it all, but to continue living without his heart was no longer an option.
UPDATE: Reread March, 2019 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Liked it! ===================== Read: November, 2016 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Amazing! review in Portuguese and English --------------------------- UAU! Amei, adorei, amei! ------------- WOW! Loved, loved, loved it! I won't go into details so as not to spoil the reading, but I highly recommend. And the special participation of characters created by author MariaLisa delay was sensational. Get your tissues of paper and immerse yourself in the universe created by author and pass through a myriad of emotions and finish reading with a smile on your face.
Nary May always knew Saxon "Vicious" Black would always own her heart, however he made it more than clear he didn't want to. Even though she still loved him, she moved on. Now in college Nary has found a happy peace with her life, until she is kidnapped by an abusive man out for revenge against the Hawks MC.
Vicious always pretended he had no interest in Nary, but it was for her own good. He had done things that she would never forgive him for. When Nary is taken, Vicious loses it and realizes that all the fears he had about Nary finding out about his past are null and void and the only person who will ever mean anything to him is Nary. Now with the helps of the Hawks he hopes to get Nary back in one piece.
I love this series, this one was a bit darker but it was so good. Been waiting to see how the Nary and Vicious story would unfold. Not only do you have a fantastic book but you have an American MC chapter that gets introduced. Another exceptional read from Lila Rose.
Like always I thought that I could read Lila’s next gripping instalment and be satisfied for at least a few more months.. But I was wrong. Whilst enchanted by Nary & Saxon’s story, Lila introduced more characters that I need to know more of! I need to know what happens between Dallas & Melissa, and I need more of Kelsey and Gypsy! I will admit that in previous books I wasn’t a fan of Saxon. I didn’t like the way he treated Nary even though he clearly had feelings for her. But my dislike of Saxon fast disappeared when I read this book, instead of disliking him, I felt sorry for him, he truly felt like he was protecting Nary for himself. Not only did Saxon want to protect Nary but he was also scared of her rejecting him because of his scars. I wasn’t sure if I would like Nary at first, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dislike her, I just hadn’t formed a connection with her. But.. I LOVED her! She is strong, feisty and caring, although she was put into a horrific situation, she still put a brave face on and tried to protect her new friend, Kelsey. The bond those two formed was unbreakable. Instead of letting what happened to her dictate to her future and drag her down, Nary used what happened to her to make a decision to change her career/education path to be able to help other women that have been through situations like she and Kelsey did. There were no faults what so ever with the storyline or the editing, I will definitely be reading this book again and I cannot wait for more from Lila. P.s I am not going to let slip any spoilers but.. I adored what Nary did for Saxon by saying what she did to his father.
It’s also thanks to this book and Lila that I have discovered a new author (new to me) – Marialisa DeMora. And have a new biker series to read.
For years Saxon has pushed the woman he loved away, scared about what happened in his past, he pushed her away. But when the club princess, Nary, is kidnapped by an enemy of the club Saxon will do anything to get Nary back & avenge whatever Baxter has done to her. What Saxon also realises, is that when he gets Nary back, he isn’t ever going to leave her side, he is going to tell Nary that he loves her. Nary thought that she was going to be headed home to have a pizza date with her boyfriend, Jeremiah. Instead she is thrown into the back of a car and kidnapped. Thrown into her own personal hell, she soon becomes friends with another prisoner, Kelsey, as the days slowly pass, Nary is left hoping and praying that the hawks will hurry up finding her and saving her and Kelsey. But will the Hawks be able to track Nary did and break her out of the hell she is being put through. Will Nary and Kelsey be rescued in time? Will Saxon confess his love and make Nary his? Will Nary be able to get over what she went through?
Nary and Saxon. It seems that these two have been tap dancing around each other in saddening game of cat and mouse. Saxon has done everything he could to deflect Nary's unwavering want for him. He considers himself beneath her, not worthy of the beauty that she has inside. Saxon is tainted you see. Saddled by a past that he wears like a hair shirt. When sweet Nary decides that she can take no more of the hurt Saxon throws at her she decideds to put away childish crushes and find someone else. Jeremiah, a member of a differant MC and a fellow student at her Uni.
In a flash the game changes. Nary is captured by the enemy. When Saxon finds out what happens, he feels his dark soul slowly leak from his body. What is he without Nary? The love of his life, his very heart beat is gone. Saxon will do whatever it takes to get her back. Blood will spill, vengeance will dealt out and hopefully, love will win.
This is my confession: I'll admit I had been putting off reading this book for awhile. I tend to do this with books that I have been anticipating. That, to me is a good thing. It means that I'm invested in the characters. The wait, was well worth it. This book was so much...MORE than Nary and Saxon. Just...MORE in general I suppose. The level of devotion and love that Saxon had internally suppressed for Nary was unprecedented. And Nary? She's just...Grace. What she went through, and overcome was big.
Another part that had me sort of -apprehensive, I guess you would call it- was that part of this book was a collaboration piece featuring cameos with another MC series. MariaLisa deMora's Rebel Wayfarers MC (I highly recommend her series BTW). Why the apprehension? Collaborations in general make me nervous no matter who the writers are. Some take a bit of a creative license and skew the other series characters, taking away that 'thing' that makes them uniquely special. I am more than happy to say that this DID NOT happen. The distinction between characters was crisp and seamless. I could EASILY differentiate the writing which was perfect to me. The characters of the RWMC added a depth to the story, so much so that I hope this isn't the last time we see the Hawks and Rebel's call in a marker.
I leave you with this: They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well then it takes a entire brotherhood to save a love that runs deep to the very bedrock. Well done, Lila. You have once again proved why you are such a beloved storyteller.
This book is a bit different from the previous ones. It's a bit dark and edgy and it will make you want to just cry for everything that happens.
Nary and Saxon are just so sweet and passionate together. As from the previous books you will know that Saxon has been pushing Nary away for so long, but he is still there watching over her keeping her safe.
But then Nary get's kidnapped by their worst enemy and Saxon just goes ballistic. And decides that he has waited long enough to claim his women. But there is so much that Saxon and Nary has to overcome before/if they can find their happily ever after.
Nary was just a strong character in this book, for someone that went through so much for a long time she was Kick Ass... But there is so much that Saxon and Nary has to overcome before/if they can find their happily ever after.
And there is a huge surprise in this book ladies, but trust me you will love it.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to
The long in dissipated book about Vicious and Nary, we have followed there story with in the other couple’s books. From young teenagers to young adults. There Relationship has been very complicated and especially with him trying to keep her at a distance. Even though it was obvious both of them had feelings for one another.
So I though there book together would be about him finally recognising his feelings and going after his woman but that did not happens so much more went into their story.
This book was exciting, tragic, romantic and even hard to read sometimes. Nary being kidnapped brought so much up to there surface it even made them call in another Mc with in it self made more storyline open to explore.
There was never a boring moment everything fell in to place even with Vicious’s dad. It made the story amazing.
After such a long wait for Saxon and Nary's story, I'm glad that they finally get together but I'm mad about the reason he treated her so mean and acted so indifferent towards her. I won't say what it is as I hate ruining stories for future readers but I will say his reason for not pursuing Nary was quite frankly stupid as fuck. He did what he did to protect him self, fuck he was a fourteen year old boy in a fucked up situation, I think many kids would react the same. I understand how he may feel guilty, that isn't something you come away from unscathed, but to treat Nary like she was a piece of shit smeared on the bottom of his boot was super excessive and fucked up! He was such a douche to her!
It's so funny that at the end of the day, when he finally decided to get his head out his ass, Nary and her family accepted him in spite of what he did in his youth, so basically he wasted five years of a potentially awesome relationship for nothing...idiot. Sighs...I guess everything happens for a reason...
Nary, I always saw a quite pathetic, especially when it came to Saxon, damn she was all in for that dumbass, I pitied her. Then she gets kidnapped and the way she faced her kidnappers and attackers, I had to give her character so much respect because she owned that shit. No female should have to go through what she and especially Kelsey went through, that can break a woman, like it almost did Kelsey, so Nary being so fierce despite her fear...mad props to her!
My Rebel Wayfarers!!! Yeah baby, I screamed when Melissa said Mason's name! The RWMC only makes an appearance a few times but man was I glad they were able to help! Gypsy...YUM! He was just so fucking sexy and the way he cared for Kelsey after her ordeal, couldn't ask for a better man! (If ya'll haven't read the Rebel Wayfarers MC series by MariaLisa deMora, I suggest you go ahead and start reading! It's an excellent series, very enjoyable and emotional! Totally recommend)
Overall a very enjoyable read, thankfully Julian and Hellmouth's appearances were kept to a minimum as was their usual very annoying vocabulary, so I definitely enjoyed this read and seeing Saxon and Nary finally come full circle!
Nary and Saxon have been playing games for years. Nary has made no bones about wanting Saxon and he has pushed her away every chance he gets. Plus, he pushes club whores in her face just to make her feel a little worse. She may love him, but she's not waiting for him any longer. She's been dating Jerimiah. (he's from the Venom MC, but her guys know about him and are okay with it) He's sweet, he adores her and wouldn't hurt her in any way. She doesn't know it, but he went to Saxon, told him his intentions just so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding. Saxon acted like he could care less, but Jeremiah saw right through him. Saxon has done some horrible things and he knows Nary deserves better.
Nary is on her way home from campus when she's dragged into a car. Josie and Billy see what is happening but they can't get to her in time. This is where the story turns dark. She's captured by a bad guy who sells women as sex slaves. There's one girl there, Kelsey, who's been held for the last 8 months. This poor girl has suffered it all-she's been raped, beaten, starved, abused.
Once the Hawks MC finds out that Nary's been taken, all hell breaks loose. Saxon is like a caged animal-is he finally ready to claim Nary as his woman? Nary tells herself to hold on, she knows her family will come for her. She thinks Saxon doesn't want her but she knows he will try and get her back. She has no idea of the lengths he and the Hawks will go to in order to bring her home.
Finally the story we have been waiting for! In each book before this, readers always knew that these two belonged together but this stubborn ass biker would not let himself have the one person he craves, the one he loves about all others. The wait was worth it!
Saxon could be so charming at times, “now, you gonna kiss your man before you start bawling?” The man couldn't care less what his woman did to the apartment as long as she was happy, “right. Gonna head back to see what ***t my woman bought to make the apartment all girly.” I loved this book, the first part really did hell on your emotions, but I wouldn't change it because that's when we see Saxon come to his senses.
This was an amazing story. Nary is severely traumatized & Saxon who treats her awful but secretly in love with her, can he be the one to save her. Fantastic writing. Can't wait for dallas's story next.
Once again I find myself wanting to kick my own behind for not reading these books sooner. I’ve collected so many of the Hawks MC books, including the box sets for the other charters but had yet to read them. I started Living Without to get the back story of Kelsey and Gypsy before starting the next book in one of my FAVORITE MC series, Rebel Wayfarers MC by MariaLisa deMora.
I’ve heard great things about this series but didn’t expect to be so blown away by reading just one book -smack dab in the middle of the series, I might add- and enjoy it so much. The characters were strong and filled with so much personality. The story line was filled with all the action and drama I would expect from an MC book and it was written so well, that I don’t feel like I missed anything from events that happened before. That’s not to say I’m going to jump back i to the other books to get everyone else’s stories, because I sure as hell plan on doing that.
When I started this I’m was immediately transported into Nary’s world. Her life filled with bikers and love. Being the Princess, she was protected and cherished and I get every bit of that from the first few pages. Then when all the action started I was like, “Whoa, I didn’t expulsions this so soon.” But it worked so well with this story. This was my first Lila Rose novel and I’m now an instant fan of her work. Her writing was wonderful. She managed to give me everything I could want in a good and entertaining book.
Yeah! I’m DEFINITELY going back through my kindle catalogue to read the other Hawks books I’ve one-clicked, fo sho!!
YAY! Nary & Saxon FINALLY got their happily ever after... & it was great!! (Yes, the wait was torture but it was worth it.)
These two were so cute & sexy together. Absolutely LOVED "that" moment they shared towards the end of the book. Can I just say... I KNEW it?! It was beautiful.
Nary... My heart broke for this girl over & over again in the books leading up to this one & even more so in this one. The abuse (mentally & physically) that she suffered was horrific. Thanks gods she had Kelsey, Saxon, her family & the rest of the Hawks to help her on her pathway to healing.
Saxon... Man, you were a complete c*nt (your words, not mine, but I agree) in past books. I understand why you were hesitant to get together with Nary but hate the way you went about everything. Communication is ALWAYS key, dude... don't shut your woman out. BUT... the past aside, LOVED the way you were there for Nary in this book & couldn't help but root you on when you dished out that baddy's just desserts!
Can't wait to see Nary & Saxon together in future books! Now, on to Dallas & Melissa's story, Walkout. #BringOnTheBanter
I really do love this author. Even in the worst situations she always finds a place were humour is welcome and utterly brilliant.
I'm not going to blab on to much like the last review,.
This story is brilliant. It's heartbreaking and beautiful. The characters are perfectly flawed and utterly fantastic. Parts of the story are hard to read but perfectly written so that they draw you in.. its the perfect balance of emotions. You get broken and angry then you build hope and happiness, the ending is perfection. The storyline is seamless and the characters are just bloody brilliance. Melissa is my new fav and I haven't even got to know her yet but I just know I'm going to love her hard.
I won't gush any longer but I'd definitely recommend to everyone.
This was the first book that I've read by Lila Rose, and I'm going to have to go back to book 1, because I really enjoyed this book. I love MC, but the connection with the story, the characters, the setting, it was perfect.
Carolina Springs Charter has struck again! While this story does contain taboo topics and sensitive situations pertaining to sexual experiences and other disturbing topics it is a story that should not be taken lightly, but read to fully enjoy if you put these topics to the side. Reading these books are ok, seeing it on TV not so much. Nary is the princess of this MC and all members have a protective side to protect her even the girls. Saxon's past prevents him from ever coming out with his feelings for Nary. Daddy dear and others know Saxon and Nary truly have a connection (young and old), but Saxon does everything in his power to push Nary away since he doesn't feel he is worthy to be with her. We meet Jeramiah who sparks a friendship and relationship with Nary. Nary feels a connection with Jeramiah just not what she feels when it comes to Saxon. Jeramiah feels guilty after a wrong turn leaves Nary in danger. Monster with a capital M is how I would describe the men who do this to woman. I wanted to vomit reading this as I thought about how other girls don't get as lucky to escape. Kelsey and Nary are stronger than I ever could be. Best your wondering what danger Nary was put into and who Kelsey is? Well read this book and you will find out. haha. You have to be thankful that another MC helps the Carolina Crew or I don't even want to know what would have transpired with this story. Gypsy oh Gypsy you are a life saver to those girls and MC charter. The instant connection between Gypsy and Kelsey is spark worthy especially after what Kelsey went through in this dungeon of a nightmare. Saxon knows that nothing with ever be the same after Nary's experience; however, he will stop at nothing to let everyone know that Nary is his and he will make up for all those years he pushed her away. You truly see that after you have a bad experience in life what you cannot live without and make sure to go after what you want to get the full experience in this world. The tension both in healing and heat between Saxon and Nary is hot, but I would love to read a spin off on Gypsy's MC charter and about him and Kelsey. You can read each Carolina Springs book as a standalone, but you will probably be like me who wants to go back when time permits and read the other books to find out about the other MC stories as well.
4.5 stars for the most anticipated book of the Hawks MC series to date - Saxon & Nary. This book has been a long time coming and the author does NOT disappoint. While this is book four is the Caroline Springs Charter it technically can stand alone and be enjoyed but I highly recommend both the original series - Hawks MC and this one - Caroline Charter - as they are filled with laughs, love and gorgeous alpha bikers. Please be aware this book does deal with the darker subject matter of rape and human trafficking. Nary May has been in love with Saxon for years, but he spends as much time as he can pushing her away so four months ago she decided to date someone else. Nary has taken her new relationship slow and told herself she is over Saxon, but her heart doesn't lie and while she cares for the new guy it's just not the same. Coming out of school in the parking lot at uni the unthinkable happens and Nary is taken by a madman that has an axe to grind. Nary tries to escape the men who abduct her but it is futile and she is taken to another location where she learns she will be sold in a human trafficking ring run by the nefarious Baxter. Saxon (Vicious) Black is a fully patched-in member of the Hawks MC and is part of the Caroline Charter under Dodge. We have watched Saxon literally grow up from his high school years to the gorgeous but troubled twenty-something man that loves Nary from afar. Saxon feels his past will taint Nary and while he loves her something fierce it's best for him to step back and let someone more worthy claim her. All that flies out the window once he discovers Nary was taken and he is determined now more than ever to claim the woman who has owned his heart from the moment they met. This series is truly one of my favorite because all the laughs and love the author gives us makes the extra heavy stuff easier to tolerate. This story had it all - angst, drama, romance and love - plus we got to see/hear from all the members of the original series and there was a crossover from MariaLisa deMora's wildly popular MC series - Rebel Wayfarers. I can't wait to see where Lila Rose takes us next :)
Finally we get Nary and Saxon’s story. I’ve been waiting for their story since we first got a glimpse of Nary’s crush on Saxon back in the original Hawks MC series.
Saxon has been a complete ass towards Nary for the past 4 years, all because he doesn’t think he deserves her. It takes something dark and scary happening to Nary for him to realise just what an idiot he’s been, and that if given the chance he’s going to show Nary just what she really means to him.
Wow, I think this is the darkest Lila Rose had taken this series. Yes it has had some violence, and some nasty stuff happen, but this one is on a whole new level of dark I think. The things Nary went through, Saxon’s past, and Kelsey (someone we meet in this book) were just.. wow.
For any fans of the Rebel Wayfarers MC series by MariaLisa deMora, we get a treat here as the Rebels make an appearance! I don’t know if MariaLisa wrote their parts, or if Lila took them on, but it was fab seeing them here. I want to go catch up on their series now too.
I really enjoyed Living Without, I think it all worked well and I can’t wait for the next book which will hopefully be Dallas’ story. Living Without gets 5 stars from me.

OMG!!! What happens when you mix the Hawks MC and the Rebel Wayfarers MC? You get a very hot and bothered Erin, is what you get! OMG!! Where so I start. First off, I am a huge fan of both MC series. The characters are all very well developed, and they have each left their mark on my heart. Next you have the storyline. Which is phenomenal. It is so well written and flows seamlessly. It is loaded with the drama I crave from MC books. This is the one genre that I love to be chalk full of drama. It brings out the very best in these very over-protective, hot, tatted, alpha males. I am also a huge fan of the dirty talking biker. These men will make your panties wet with less than three words. The emotion in this story just pours off the pages. Vicious and Nary will definitely leave their mark on your heart. The incorporation of the RWMC by MariaLisa Demora was epic. These men coming together was very addictive. I believe they may just need to have a reason to get together again very soon. And Gypsy. Well let’s just say, that is one Rebel I need to read more about, like now. I am excited for where this series might go next. Reviewed for FMR Book Grind
Fans of Lila Rose and the Hawks' MC have been waiting a long time for this book, for Saxon and Nary's story, and IMHO it couldn't have been better!!!!
So much happens in this book, not the least of which is that in a collaboration with MariaLisa deMora we meet the Rebel Wayfarers from the US. Now, I've read a number of collaborative books and usually I'm disappointed in some way. But not this time!!!! I felt the writing meshed well and I loved meeting the new MC. But back to Lila's story.
Nary has loved Saxon for so very long. And we all knew he loved her, as well. We just didn't know why he held himself back. This story gives us that and so much more!!! Not only that, it sets up at least two more books in the Caroline Springs series!!!
Lila Rose, you have done it again!!!! Thank you so much for giving us Vicious and Viper's story!!! I have been crazy about Saxon for so long, thank you for doing him justice, as you do for all of the men and women you give us!!!! LOVED Living Without!!!!!
I'm not shy about how proud I am to be an Aussie, especially when so many great authors in this romance genre are Australian too. Lila Rose gives us great MC characters, sexy and loyal and pure alpha. Her females are sassy and strong and bonded through their love for the Hawks men as much as their fun personalities. Nary and Saxon have been building up to their HEA for a very long time, through several Hawks books to be exact, and just needed that not so little nudge from near-tragedy to get them on the right track! There's some dark stuff here that is handled very well, but the highlight for me is the crossover with MariaLisa DeMora's Rebel Wayfarers series - bringing together my old buddies from the Hawks' Ballarat and Caroline Springs chapters with some of the Rebels' key characters: more old friends, including one of my all time fave MC characters, Mason. Swoon.
Man oh man it grabs you right off never lets go and brings you on the ride of your life. Awhile back I was scrolling thru Amazon looking for an MC read and came across Holding Out; the rest is history. I have since devoured all Hawks books and never looked back.
Nary was introduced to us in No Way Out and proved to us how resilient she was. And she is gonna need that to survive here.
Saxon, what a stubborn, hot headed, beautifully broken man he is.
It was great "seeing" Talon, Griz, Hellmouth and others from Hawks come together and do what the Hawks do best; FAMILY.
This book was yet another great read; I have really enjoyed Lila Rose's growth as an author and look forward to more of the Hawks.
I have been waiting for this book a while and finally got it, but I felt as though my expectations were higher than what I actually got. I felt the book was rushed (there were many parts, particularly during the time they were trying to find nary) and others that felt too unreal. I felt like what I got personality wise from saxon was not what I expected him to be from how he was described in the previous books. In general the story was a good one. The plot as a whole was good and the addition of Masons crew as well. I just felt there were many things that could have been better. However, that said as usual this authors writing was great.
Have been waiting so long for Saxon and Nary's story and this book did not disappoint. Just when you think Nary's life is going her way all hell breaks loose. Can Saxon save Nary again and can he finally man up and admit that she is the one for him or will his fears cause him to push her away. This book has a crossover with MariaLisa Demora's Rebel Wayfarers MC which I loved. Saxon And Nary's story keeps you on the edge of your seat and gives you an insight in to why Saxon is the way he is. If you thought Julian was funny wait until you meet Melissa in this book she is like Julian on steroids.
I'm glad I gave this book a chance. My heart broke for Kelsey and Nary. I sure hope Kelsey finds happiness with Gypsy. I'm thinking I'll have to at least read their book if they get one from the other author. Throughout Nary's recovery I kept wanting her to ask him about the OW's. It as actually my reason for not being excited for the book. I actually had "the ploy" thought and was so relieved when he told her about it. I just hate that it was so close to the end. I'm hoping for Tiny woman and Viking next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Freaking brilliant !! Nery and Saxon are so great together !! I just wanted to cry when she met Kelsey :-( I'm glad a friendship formed and they helped each other. I'm hoping to read more about gypsey and Kelsey, pretty please !
And Melissa and Dallas- just wow and that tad bit of info at the end about Melissa my word I NEED to read this book please don't say I'll be waiting long.
Altogether this book is great and perfectly written. The whole series I just love them !!!
