A storm is raging in Hemlock Cove, but it’s nothing compared to the one raging in Aunt Tillie’s head.
An accident renders Aunt Tillie unconscious in the hospital, and when Bay and Landon fall asleep while sitting vigil, they’re transported to a scary world: Aunt Tillie’s mind.
The couple will be shuttled through time – almost eighty years of it – and witness all of the ups and downs of Aunt Tillie’s past.
Have you ever wanted to see Aunt Tillie as a child? You’re in luck. Landon and Bay will get to see more than they ever dreamed of, including weddings, births and even tragic deaths.
The trip isn’t all fun and games, because Aunt Tillie is fighting waking up. She’s happier reliving the past than fighting for survival in the present.
Bay and Landon have their hands full. They have to live through good times and bad – including hanging out with their own demons – and force Aunt Tillie to choose returning with them rather than staying with the people who own her heart.
Fasten your seatbelts, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride… for everyone.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
It was really good but I felt like it left you hanging. It alluded to Bay needing to understand something more about herself, but she never actually seems to get it.
This is between books 8 and 9 of the twin book series Wicked Witches of the Midwest series by Amanda M Lee.
This was actually pretty unbelievably sweet for it being from Aunt Tillie. Bay and Landon go on a journey of Aunt Tillie’s memories throughout her lifetime. It starts with Tillie as a child with her sister Ginger and her half-sister Willa. It ends with memories of Bay and Landon’s life.
Aunt Tillie shows a kind and protective side to Bay that Bay never saw before. Thistle’s love and protective side toward Bay also. By the way, Thistle is pretty much her great Aunt Tillie’s clone in the ornery way they both are.
Bay and Landon meet Grandma Ginger (Bay’s mom’s mom) and Uncle Calvin (Tillie’s husband). Bay tells them she wishes she’d meet them and could talk to them, but that’s when Ginger and Calvin say she (Bay) does get to see and talk to them now… through her dreams.
I liked seeing a side of Aunt Tillie we don’t ever get to see.
I also like reading about the Winchesters and crew some things that don’t involve the witches fighting against evil ghosts and demons and other otherworldly creatures.
Next is Book 3 “Make a Witch.”
Some portions from this book:
You can’t fix a man. Sure, they come to you broken, but there’s no way to truly fix them. You just have to slap some duct tape on them and hope they don’t fall apart until you’re done with them. – Aunt Tillie on dating
You only have to grow up if you have kids. I didn’t have kids. That’s why I don’t ever have to grow up. I’m like Peter Pan – but without the fruity tights. – Aunt Tillie on why immaturity is better than responsibility
You think I enjoy torturing my family, and I do. I enjoy torturing their enemies even more, though. That, right there, is the definition of family. – Aunt Tillie to Landon when asked why she got such a kick out of cursing her great-nieces
I love you all. I don’t say that enough, but it’s true … well, some of the time. Now get out of my face. Togetherness is great and all, but you’re all starting to chafe my butt, and there’s a bottle of wine with my name on it. – Aunt Tillie spends quality time with the family on Christmas
Sometimes I get tired of Landon always needing to reassure Bay he won't leave. Sometimes Aunt Tilly annoys me to no end. That said I always enjoy visiting with the Winchester Family.
Probably my favorite in the entire Wicked Witches of the Midwest series to date....whether it be the main stories, the shorts, or the fantasy versions. There may be some spoilers in my review, so be warned, let’s just say this one has you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions with the main characters reliving some past memories of not only their beloved unconscious Aunt Tillie, but they see deceased family members when they were themselves children, young adults, etc. they see themselves reliving childhood moments, they see poignant moments in time that we, the reader, would probably kill to be able to go back and relive again, and it makes for one heartwarming journey in a series that is usually sinfully wicked and sexy fun, with plenty of mystery, whodunit romance. Unlike the other fantasy series in the Wicked books....this one left me just bittersweet and emotional, missing my mom, who just passed away, but rather hopeful that I will most definitely see her again someday. That’s the kind of story this is. Thank you Amanda for writing this one in particular...I really needed that ending. That ribbon did me in (in a good way).
I have read all of Amanda Lee's books and just got caught up on the fantasies. Holy Crap, this one was...wow! I was so emotionally invested in each one of these characters and Aunt Tilly's memories that I stayed in bed all morning to finish it. The fact that I cried multiple times had a lot to do with it! I have to say that I really, REALLY enjoyed this book and loved the way I laughed out loud and bawled like a baby. That is a sign that the author is awesome and the story is wonderful. I whole-heartedly recommend this book. Please read and enjoy.
Great books funny an witty I love the banner between the family members. Bay an Landon are great together! Above all you just got to love I mean love Aunt Tilly, she is very honest to a point of being funny as to how she works her way around the truth. I love how she gets on Landon's nerves with her pot field an illegal wine making an selling, she makes me laugh! I hope their are going to be more books on the witches of the Midwest please!
I always love visiting Winchester Witch Land. I was reading a book that came after this one I realized I had missed one so I decided I needed to stop and read this one first. I am glad I did because it was so much fun to see Aunt Tillie as a child and teenager and to get a glimpse of her romance with Uncle Calvin. I really hope Ms. Lee does one of her short stories about Aunt Tillie and Uncle Calvin because I think we would all be interested to learn more about how those two opposite personalities interacted and survived. (hint, hint)
Another great read. Torrential rain and forecast tornadoes are making life difficult. This gets worse when Aunt Tillie gets a head injury from a tree. Bay and Landon are with her as she lies unconscious in her hospital bed and then find themselves in her memories. What are her defining memories? What lessons do all three learn? Will Aunt Tillie want to come back to the real world of pain and loss? Not really a plot, plot but nevertheless a great insight into what makes Aunt Tillie tick. Makes her seem more vulnerable.
Ms Lee and Ms Harper are two authors I enjoy very much. Their characters, plots, and side-plots and side-characters are always fun.
This particular book shows how she has improved her writing with this series. The overdone romance between the FBI agent and the protagonist Bay is tempered by other characters commenting how over-the-top it all is and they should quiet it down (this goes on for the entire series which, at least, prevents me from putting the books down). The mystery is refreshing (a trip down someone's memory lane).
I can't even imagine how AHHMAZING it would be to see someone's memories! Don't you think? I'm sure some would disagree with me, but if I could have seen some of my mama's memories years before she passed away, I would have felt so much closer to her. It's a shame it's a fantasy, but that's what a Wonderful fantasy book does for me. It opens my mind in so many ways. I would kill to have Amanda M. Lee's imagination! Not literally, of course. 😉😂 I'm enjoying the crap out of this series so far. 🥰
This was a good break from the usual M.O. of the stories, there wasn't a crime to solve but there was a mystery. There was some growth in Bay and Landon's relationship but as usual most of their relationship is being all cutesy with each other and doing the "deed".
Alot of proofreading errors in this fantasy, definitely don't know what happened there, it's never been that much.
A great story. We get to find out some backstory on great aunt Tillie. Find out some of her history some of the things in her past even some of the things and B’s past. A great little chunk of the Winchester family history in a unique way and extremely entertaining to boot.
A large storm causes a tree branch to fall into the green house and hit Aunt Tilly in the head. A trip to the hospital, tests etc and Aunt Tilly is still out cold. Will she wake up or go deeper into a coma? Bay and Landon are at the hospital with her and when they fall asleep they find themselves lost in Tilly’s memories. A good, entertaining read.
Great Aunt Tillie stays out in the greenhouse during a Tornado, gets nailed by a tree branch, and ends up in the hospital. Bay and Landon go with Tillie in the ambulance. Tillie winds up in a coma, and magically drags Bay and Landon into her memories when they fall asleep in the hospital.
This one was odd, but fun. I’m still unsure of what they had to learn, but it was fun reading about some of the past that hasn’t been in previous books. Sometimes I think she has dumbed Landon down a bit. He is certainly more goofy. The end was a little goofy too, but overall a great book.
This book was illuminating. I laughed and I cried while reading it. I truly enjoyed reading, and picturing the scenes in my mind, about Tillies memories and an about Bay and Landon's interaction and viewing of them. I loved this book!
Aunt Tillie has an accident by that sends her to the hospital. While she is unconscious, she takes Bay and Landon for a magical ride down memory lane. I really enjoyed it.
Aunt Tillie's cavernous mind strimes again and gives us a glimpse of her past...and brings us along for the ride...and a fun one it is! This family doesnt disappoint and i cant wait for the next installment!
It was an emotional roller coaster of a ride storyline for all involved including myself. Loved the timeline and getting to know some of the family from the past . I love Amanda's since of family in all of her books.
Even in a coma everyone’s favorite aunt is directing what everyone should do, say and hear. Bay is in for some very important life lessons as Aunt Tillie shows her important moments.
This book just as much as the others, but I do think it was a little long. And to be honest I felt like there should've been more to all the lessons learned. But I still love it!
This has been my favorite short story so far. Aunt Tillie is an important character and I like being able to explore her past. Everyone has a story to tell and this one was really great to read.
Wow! What a whirlwind story, it was eye opening, question answering, tearful & laughable all in one... Aunt Tillie never ceases to surprise Bay (& Landon)... Another Wonderfull book from Amanda Lee...
Wow, seriously weird events happening throughout the tale. I couldn't put the book down. I'd love to tell you more but I don't want to spoil it for your own pleasure. Get the fantasy book. In fact, get all of them. You won't regret it!
Inside Aunt Tilly's memories; Bay and Landon learn a lot about her they didn't know, and a lot about themselves. What they really want to know, is can they convince her to leave those memories, and come back to them. How is all happening? Magic, of course!
While Aunt Tillie is knocked out, she takes Bay and Landon on a trip through a series of memories, good and bad. It clarifies a lot of family interaction.
Being trapped in Aunt Tillie's mind was an emotional journey. I loved the glimpses of little Tillie and Bay. The funeral was hard and the break-up still squeezed my heart. A lesson that they are all important parts of the family.
This one was heart moving as Landon and Bay go through time with Aunt Tillie's memories. There are good and sad ones but each one hold a lesson as they try to get back to the real world.
This fantasy is definitely a walk down memory lane.....mostly Aunt Tillie's memories. And Landon and Bay have a front row seat. There's loads of humor, no danger, no murder, and no mystery, but there are plenty of lessons to learn. Highly entertaining.
