Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for advanced access to this title. Freckleface Strawberry books are very fun and sweet. I am not sure if this is the first beginning reader for Moore but she does a great job, tackling a friendship situation with text that kids can understand. Great illustrations.

This is a cute story. It teaches Freckleface Strawberry how she can have fun playing with other children with their games. I think it teaches that interactions with others are a good thing. I have absolutely NO idea why anyone would wish to ban this book. I try to stay away from the political implications, but in this case, I can't avoid it.

I bought a copy of this book for two reasons.
1. I like Julianne Moore, although I only know her from her movies.
2. I am against banning books. This is the third banned book I've read, and by far the least potentially damaging to a reader.

I loved this faintly didactic addition to the Freckleface Strawberry line. The main character manages to be imperfect without being unlikable and while this version for early readers streamlines the plot to its simplest form, it still manages to pack lots of personality. I have never loved the character nicknames, but I am drawn to these series time and again because of the peerless artwork. A valuable lesson on friendship, plainly navigated.

I read this because I was curious why some people want to ban it. I have no idea why Freckleface Strawberry is a concern! Why shouldn't kids learn to get along??
