So far, I have read only THE LONESOME COWBOY by KC Klein, and TO FIND A MATE BY Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan, and but it’s well worth the price and the 5 stars!
Lauren Avery has been divorced for four weeks, she has to fill in for her Senator father at a charity function when she starts to feel really ill. And she now knows she’s pregnant. The problem is, four months ago, she had a one-night stand with a handsome cowboy who is most likely the father. Lauren and her ex-husband’s marriage was mostly a marriage to please her father, and fidelity was not an issue. But the paparazzi have been hunting her all through the divorce, and Lauren’s father is campaigning on family values; there’s a big problem there. Lauren had always wanted children, but it never happened with her husband. Nobody must know…
Cash Rodriguez is the cowboy in question, he has never wanted children for personal reasons. And he has been pining after Lauren since they were in high school, but she was out of his league, and still is. But she must not have this baby, his baby…
THE LONESOME COWBOY is not the type of book you want to read when you’re feeling down, or having a bad day. It’s dark, there are very serious issues examined; it’s a hard book to read. Ms. Klein is an expert at depicting angst, internal torment, and tension, and this book is filled with those. The tension, the pain, the conflicts became mine while I read, and it was almost too much to identify with the character’s despair. On the other hand, I have never read such realistic bull riding sequences, and those are not rosy either. THE LONESOME COWBOY is an excellent read, but do not expect to be laughing out loud; it’s serious stuff, but exceptionally well done, and the plot twists will leave you reeling.
TO FIND A MATE BY Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan
Paige moved to Somewhere Texas 6 years ago to join her friend in her new bakery, and for 6 years Paige has had a crush on Adam VonBrandt. It’s so bad, she tongue-tied around him to a point where he thinks she doesn’t like him. Adam keeps returning to the bakery every Friday because he likes Paige’s baking, and Paige wouldn’t miss a Friday, whether she’s working or not. Adam, a werewolf, had had his eye one a woman as a potential Fated mate, but there was no real connection, and when she finds her One, Adam is all alone. One Friday, Adam is all flustered when Paige is not at the bakery. She accidentally got the day off, which was not such a bad idea, because she thinks she’s hallucinating and seeing werewolves. Humans must not know of their existence, and when she gets her nerve and finally has a real conversation with Adam, she tells him about her “hallucinations”. He decides that she must be told, he doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her and he trusts that she will tell no one, but things go downhill fast…
TO FIND A MATE is the fourth book in the VonBrandt Family series, and possibly the finest one to date, and it works perfectly as a standalone. Adam and Paige are superb characters, quite different from what we’re used to see, and really nice people to boot. They’ve had their signals confused for six years; they just couldn’t see what was right in front of them, and it was entirely plausible. The authors wonderfully illustrate the Fated bond. The connection between Adam and Paige felt real, just like the type of thing that happens in real life. There’s quite a bit of tension, sexual and otherwise, and when something goes horribly wrong, there are some frenzied and heart-stopping moments, and there is one humongous plot twist that I never saw coming, tragedy struck, and it was marvellously resolved. TO FIND A MATE has it all: engaging characters, great storytelling, flawless writing, fabulous dialogues, and a romance that feels totally genuine. Super!
I received complimentary copies of these books in exchange for an honest review.
My review for Jodi Vaughn's BAD MEDICINE. Another great read by Ms. Jodi! We meet Ben as he's in an accident with his 2 yr old daughter and is transported to the E.R. and meets Dr. Roe. He has a concussion and needs to spend the night. Having no one to watch his daughter overnight, he pleads with Candace Roe to take his daughter. She's hesitant but comes through. Jessica is your typical 2 year old and something Candace is not sure how to handle. When she returns Jessica to the hospital to give her back to her dad, he realizes he has no vehicle and a dead cell phone. Candace returns home with them in tow and he finds out his house isn't empty and all hotels are booked up. The ice storm has everyone at a standstill so Candace offers them her guest room and things slowly heat up from there. Both have lost loved ones they need to overcome to move forward. And move forward they do.
I loved this series of stories‼️ Each one has an HEA and is a stand alone book. I recommend to all cowboy/small town hot guy story. Had to read them all in one setting. Looking forward to more in this series. Happy reading.
