The Rosary is my weapon of choice and this book provides the perfect 'ammunition'. Fr. Longenecker has arranged this so each chapter is a decade of the Rosary and each decade is devoted to a social evil. Each Hail Mary is given over to a specific "Battle Point", or a Good Intention. When I prayed the Second Joyful Mystery, as the first Good Intention in the Visitation was for Expectant Mothers, I was able to pray for my daughter (as well as all the other mommies-to-be out there!!!)! I prayed that Hail Mary numerous times, before moving on to the next one. Praying one decade each day, although not always successful, allows you to do something positive for the ills we see and experience all around us.

I do not share Dwight Longenecher's adoration of Mary. I, however, do not share protestantism's dismissal of Mary. Trotting her out on December 24 and putting her on the shelf December 26 is dishonoring to the woman who is the mother of God. Because I have not been convinced of the immaculate conception, the perpetual virginity, and the bodily assumption (the first two of which I find historically and theologically problematic) of Mary, I do not share the practices of the Mary cult. Despite these misgivings, I have always been drawn to the practice of praying the rosary. I dismiss the Hail Mary as a useful prayer because it isn't scriptural, but the rest of the practice is theologically sound. Further, the practice of meditation facilitated by the rosary is absolutely necessary to spiritual growth. Longenecker has added to this the layer of spiritual warfare in a way that is comprehensive and biblically solid. His assertion that warring against evil is best done by praying and working for good is an important insight. His guide for each decade of the four mysteries, if followed, would strengthen any believer's prayer life.

Rosary is a widely used religious symbol across the world. Rosaries can be seen in the hands, fingers including the dashboard of vehicles in our daily lives. In many of the conservative families, rosary is a family prayer prayed together either in the morning or evening. Even in the catholic Church month of May and October are dedicated to rosary, wherein the faithful join the prayer as community. Even in many churches rosary is desired before the eucharistic celebration.
The book praying the rosary for spiritual warfare reflects how rosary can be used beautifully to reflects on the life of Jesus aligned to the concern of today's world while meditating. Each of the mysteries of rosary can be used to enable faith and devotion. The book is a clear reflection on mindfulness of how rosary can be prayed and offered for various purposes.

I listened to the audio version of this book. As a new Catholic, and former Protestant, it is hard to remove the Protestant colored glasses and not see the Rosary as “vain repetition”. I have learned that it is far from that. After listening to this book it has really helped me to see the Rosary as an essential spiritual weapon.

I bought this to give me another way to meditate while praying the Rosary. This was an excellent choice. I love the way Fr. Longenecker frames spiritual warfare as lighting a candle rather than cursing the darkness.

This book teaches a beautiful model for the Rosary prayer. It helps bring me to deeper reflection and meditation of scripture and gives me a sense of peace that God is powerfully working in the world through people. In the battle points of each mystery it focuses and on the many the positive areas and ways God is working in the world that we can pray for.
