This is the third graphic novel about Cici, a young girl who also happens to be a fairy. Her Abuela, who is also a fairy, is trying to teach her about her powers and skills she has and will obtain as a fairy. When her father takes her, her sister and best friend on their annual camping trip, Cici has everything planned. Unfortunately, things do not work out as planned. It rains, their campsite is not reserved so they are not near the lake, they get lost on a hike and they can't swim because there are no lifeguards. When she meets a creature in the woods who wants to be her friend, she is annoyed and afraid. She does not give him a chance to show her that surprises and unexpected happenings can be good. She eventually realizes that everyone else is having a good time and that she needs to lighten up and enjoy herself. When she tells Abuela what happened, she learns that it was a Wood Sprite that she met and that he was just trying to teach her to enjoy surprises and be open to the world around her. The graphics are fun, colourful and easy to see detail, perfect for younger readers.

This is a great book for early readers (gr. 2 - 4), especially girls. A good addition to a school or classroom library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

The third book in the series. Cici, her sister and her friend are going with her Dad on a weekend camping trip. Cici is so excited and has every thing planned out exactly. Except, things don’t go as planned at all.

I tend to be a person who plans everything as well, so this one kind of hit home for me as well. It was nice to have a longer sequence with Dad.

Good book to teach about not everything goes as expected and to go with the flow.

This is a great series that is a bit of a first chapter book and graphic novel together. It will definitely find a large appeal with the K-2nd crowd especially those that enjoy reading about fairies (cough, Daisy Meadows fans, cough).

Cici, her father, her sister, and her best friend are all going on a camping trip. Cici is super prepared for all the fun she has enjoyed on past camping trips, but when she encounters a forest sprite most of her plans fail in some way or another. The sprite is friendly, but it takes Cici most of the book to befriend him. When at last Cici gives up on all her perfect plans, the forest sprite helps her share a magical sight with her loved ones.

The pacing and plots of these comics are so satisfying. The drama is realistic and engaging, and the life lessons Cici learns are valuable. Cici is still figuring out what life looks like after divorce and I think the way that plays out here is pitch perfect.

Highly recommended for grades 1-4.

This is a cute girl story about friendship, magic, and making the best of a bad situation. When Cici plans a camping trip with her dad and new friend, things don't go as planned because Cici meets a fairy sprite.

My 7 year old loves Cici so much. She was so excited for the latest volume here she took it to her bed and stayed up to read it.
