Scarlett James left her boyfriend with child in tow, knowing the next time he hit her it might likely be her last. Protecting her son was her priority, Scarlett kept on planning to move on but when the money gets low she finds a temporary place to stay and work until they can leave again.

Mitch Jensen is more than willing to help Scarlett out, he would do it for anyone needing help, but Scarlett brings out the man in him. Mitch has no problem with Scarlett having a son and has a plan to get Scarlett to trust him, problem is Scarlett is scared of repeating past mistakes. Can Scarlett open her heart again to someone who is proving he is the worth the chance.

Good story, I liked the whole drag racing back story. Scarlett is trying to be tough, she has had to be and I think Mitch understands that. I thought the portions of the story where the son were involved were quite fun, could definitely imagine the interactions with each character. Very enjoyable.

ARC received from author

This author is one of my favorites, I got hooked on her when I started her Devils Knights series. And when she released Downshift, I was too-minded, as I don't like to read race car driving books. But it was so much more and this one was even better.
I love books that are about a couple and all the things that they go through without all the other surrounding drama

This book is about Mitch the youngest brother! He wasn't even looking for anything and then Scarlett just came crashing into his life with her son. And for the life of him he couldn't walk away. He knows how hard it is when you don't have anyone looking out for you. So he couldn't just walk away from her and her son and not help. It's what any decent human being would do right

But for Scarlett she is not use to accepting help and wants to do everything on her own. So she was not use to people going out of their way to help another person. She has been through so much and she's not use to this treatment from a man.

This story was more about how Mitch was trying to get into Scarlett's life and convincing her that it was okay for you to accept help.

I loved how he stood by her side even when she was pushing him away. And oh my word Levi was too cute.

Winter Travis this series just gets better and better. And Man oh Man when people read this they will want to read the Leelee and Kurt's book! That Ending!!!

I'm ready for the Next One

Winter Travers ~ Powershift

This is book 2 in the series.

You meet Mitch From Book 1, and Scarlett who is running from something.
You get an insight to Scarlett’s life, what’s she has had to deal with.
Mitch and Scarlett seem to hit it off but it’s slightly unsteady but Mitch being the usual alpha male he inserts himself in Scarlett’s life. And can I just say #OvariesGoBoom with how Mitch is with Scarlett’s precious cargo.
You get to experience the instalove between these two but Scarlett’s head and heart are fully on the same page.
Will she get past the issues and keep her man?

Totally loved this book and yes it has plenty of #OvariesGoBook moments. The feels you get from Scarlett and Mitch are amazing. Then you add on Levi. *swoon*
Great book now onto book 3!

It was a Nah for Me Dawg

It makes my gizzard tighten when Romances have these weird meta moments: The FMC is a writer. The FMC mentions Kindle. The FMC mentions at the end how their story "couldn't be instalove bc ppl would be mad cussing." It's gross. This mindset made the romance boring. Mainly because the conflict is "oh gee this incredibly hot & capable dude likes me & likes doing things for me & has a big slong & likes smexing me. How dare he!" I have to spend 300 pages hearing that from the FMC while also seeing the great-in-bed-and-super-thoughtful MMC beg for crumbs. It's weird. It's boring 😄 Nah I'm cussing you out from dragging this romance out.

I liked Mitch ok. He lacked a backbone and any interesting or defining character traits outside of convincing the FMC she should date him. The FMC wasn't horrible, but her internal conflict just didn't jive with me personally. She wanted to prove her independence by pushing away someome offereing support while she struggled.

We barely had good spice scenes. We barely had good give and take romance moments. It felt oddly like Mitch spent the whole book groveling. Yet he had nothing tonatone for. Shoved in-between their push-pull romance, we had to find more about the annoying-secret-but-not-really romance problems with LeeLee and Kurt. That side storyline was set up in this book, and instead of making me crave book 3, I much rather drink motor oil 😀. All intrigued from LeeLee as a character dissipated as this book wore on.

The author is talented. If you are looking for a book about a woman helping from DV and falling in love check this one out.

Going to pick up on a old series I bought and I glad I did. Winter Travers wrote another awesome story with, "Powershift!" We get more romance, racing and more of those unforgettable Jenson brothers. Whoowee! This time Mitch is saving a damsel in distress and oh what a charmer he is!

Another outstanding book by Winter Travers! After book one, Downshift, I couldn't wait until we got this book! These brothers with their rough exteriors and super soft hearts will melt you into a puddle of goo.... a HOT puddle of goo!

Scarlett encounters Mitch at one of the lowest points in her life. She has left an abusive relationship and run far away with her little boy, Levi, to start over with a new life. Only her vehicle breaks down close to the Skid Row Kings shop. This is where they meet and she is understandably timid and hesitant to allow Mitch to help her. She is okay with him working on her car, but she feels the only reason a man wants to get involved and help as much as Mitch wants to is to expect something in return.
Scarlet has preconceived notions about Mitch and his family and how they compare to her and the point she is at in her life. They couldn't possibly understand her struggle and need to make it on her own. She continually pushes him away while he tries to get involved and help her. He knows all too well what it was like to be in her position and how hard it is to climb your way out to a better life.
How will Mitch convince her that he really has her best interests at heart? How does he deal with her pushing him away and trying to avoid him?
I really enjoyed the push-pull of this story and the inner-workings of a realistically building relationship with real life issues. That's my favorite thing about this series. It is not insta-love, and there are always real issues at hand that the characters have to work through and grow from. I really love getting to know this family more and more with each book!

Powershift-- Winter Travers

4.5 Stars-- Review by Amanda B.

When you text the author when you’re done to say “I just finished Powershift...are you kidding me????Leelee??? Omg” and they reply to you with a gigantic super smiley face… ahhhh omg I can’t even…

I hearted this book… It’s book two in the Skid Row Kings series and features Mitch and Scarlett aka Sparky (when we’re public) or Scar (when we’re private, if you know what I mean). She has been through Hell and he’s trying to show her a little bit of Heaven. I love the family feel of the Skid Row Kings and the camaraderie of the shop and friends that hang out together. It also doesn’t hurt that Shawn Pierce is on the cover. It is not an unfortunate thing to picture him as Mitch at all...just saying.

I love the racing action and was glad to see that there was enough technicality to give me background, but not so much that it distracted from the story. I was loving the sweetness of Mitch’s need to help Scar rebuild her life. I love his persistence and need to help her. I was excited to see that there wasn’t a lot of back and forth feelings (he loves me, I love him not) between the two characters. It wasn’t over the top anything… no ridiculous amount of sex or unrealistic sex… this book was believable. It was sweet and kind and you have kids cockblocking which we all know is real life. For that I love Winter Travers writing…

And can I say omg Leelee… just wait...October cannot get her soon enough..

Read this. You will not regret it!

This is the 4th book of Winter's that I have read, and I always feel a little odd after her books....I love the world she creates, I love the characters, but while I read I keep waiting for that thing. You know, the thing, the moment in the book where you pause, set your Kindle down and say wow and it doesn't really happen for me. It didn't stop me from greatly enjoying this book, but I kind of want just a little more.

So, as for the story, Mitch is the second of the three Jensen brothers and he pretty much instantly falls for Scarlett. Perhaps Mitch just has a penchant for damsels in distress, but we end with a sweet romance between a single mom and the not so bad, bad boy. In addition to the romance, the family drama that first began in Downshift continues in this book. What doesn't happen here is the obvious story line and that caused more odd feelings. I am half happy that the story didn't go there and half disappointed that I didn't get what I expected.

Overall, this was a really good story. I loved the characters, the romance, the whole Jensen family and I am really excited for the next book after reading the end of this one! Just keep in mind that with this book, you will get a sweet story so if you are looking for an action packed, hard hitting book filled with grit, this isn't really the story for you.

At one of the hardest times in her life Scarlett and her son meet Mitch. When you know her backstory you can understand why she's wary and unwilling to accept help, I really admired her for not taking the easy way out, she's determined to make a better life for her and Levi.
From the start you can tell Mitch is protective of them both, he's not too over the top and knows not to push her boundaries too fast. I loved the slow build of the relationship the three of them form and with the introduction of the other guys you can feel the family this group are building. Mitch is a great character like his brothers he knows what hardship is like and wants to help people whenever he can. Levi is the cutest kid who soaks up every piece of love that Mitch and his family give him, loved watching him blossom with the guys. Scarlett is a fantastic mum who has been through hell and is slowly coming back to life but will Mitch be part of their future.
Bring on book 3 because after that ending I can't wait.

Mitch is one of Luke's two younger brothers..and he is such a sweetheart. He made a wrong decision in his youth but is trying to make up for it. He, like his brother is a racer but unlike Luke, Mitch is a street racer. Scarlett and her 4 year old son are trying to start anew. When her car bites the bullet outside of Skid Row Kings garage she meets Mitch... and the story begins.

We get a great picture of the life that Scarlett has led and how hard she is trying to make a home and life for herself and her son in a new city. Mitch wasn't even looking for a girlfriend when he set his eyes on Scarlett. Although she wasn't looking her best, something in his world shifted. When Scarlett's present brings back Mitch's past will they be able to move forward and grasp all that life is offering them.

This was a really sweet romance with some spicy moments. I need to jump right into Kurt and Leelee's story.

WOW I must say I am already a huge fan of Winter Travers books but this story Blew me away. This Book is about Mitch and Scarlett and her son Levi. Scarlett is on the run from a Bad relationship when her car Breaks down and she meets Mitch at the repair shop. But for Mitch there is just something about Scarlett that he cant let go and then of course there is Levi who with his love of cars and Transformers and just after one conversation with Mitch he is all about Mitch. This was a fast paced story and you cant help but fall in love with the characters. A Definite must read.

I read this straight after Downshift, so I loved that the timelines were consistent through the story. I also like that Winter introduced the female lead into story in the last chapter of the previous book.
Scarlett & Mitch: I felt the whole way through Downshift that Mitch was the deepest and most thoughtful of the 3 brothers. He didn’t disappoint me in this book. However, I didn’t feel at all that we was in anyway weaker than his brothers. He had a quiet strength and authority that shone through him and his interactions with Levi just melted my heart.
Scarlett did annoy me at times, however, given that she was coming from a really bad situation and that, I understood that that her trust would be no very easy to gain. Her unwillingness to accept help (albeit his help was over the top at times) started to wear in the end. Her devotion to her son was absolute and unwavering and she didn’t just dump him to jump into bed with Mitch.
Again I had that suspenseful feeling that the ex-Husband was going to show up and hurt her but thankfully he didn’t.
I very much looked forward to the last book, given that LeLe and Kurt have been sparking off each other the whole way through the series

I can only imagine what was going through Mitch’s mind when Scarlett came into the shop. To see a woman scared and beaten mentally and physically had to wear on him and pull on his heart strings. I loved how he did not think twice of helping her.

I loved how much the author put Levi into the story. Sometimes when reading a book we only get to see glimpses of the kids in the story. Well we really got to see Levi’s character come to life and it was great to see.

Scarlett was stronger then what most would think and we really get to see her strength in this story. She has been through so much and now is finding her voice. With everything she has been through she does have trust issues.

We get to see so much passion between Mitch and and Scarlett. Mitch just wants to be there for Scarlett and Levi. He also wants to make their life easier and better. Mitch hopes to win Scarlett’s heart and I love how he does not care to play dirty to win her heart.

Great story and glad I got a chance to read the book.

So, yeah...did I mention that this series follow up the lives of three brother, who all kind of just look alike...no?

well, it is...and they all look the same to me... Luke, Mitch and Kurt

I mean, it's ok to follow a certain pattern in your characterisation BUT do the characters have to be this typified?!

I think not...not even if that's your fave preference in the way a guy should look...

anyway, so, Mitch...well, he stumbles across a woman with a child in need of help and like any decent human being, he helps her out...BUT...this "helping" doesn't ens here...

Another instant liking turns into a mission of Mitch's, to make this woman his, by "helping" the hell out of her to make it out of a bind, to show her how life can be good, with, of course him in it...

ok, it doesn't really go that bad in the story BUT it sure made me feel a bit pressured...LOL, but I guess the heroine didn't mind it, after all...

Fantastic book.

Mitch has always tried to help those who need help, because he knows firsthand how it feels to move up in the world with nothing. Scarlett got away from someone who hurt her and now she wants to do what she can to provide for herself and her sweet little boy. She wants to do it on her own, but then Mitch comes in the picture.

Mitch is a single man, has helped raise his little sister with his two brothers and then Scarlett comes into his life with her little boy. I think the best part for me was Mitch falling in love with Little Man, stepping in as a father figure and loving both Scarlett and her son.

There is so much that I loved about this book but my favorite SRK brother is Mitch and "Little Man" is a breath of fresh air who just makes you laugh.

I couldn't put the book down. I loved the story. The ups and downs and especially Little Man.

When you think you are already in love with one brother, in comes the middle brother and sweeps your off your feet. Whereas Luke is rugged and all macho, Mitch is a gentleman doing right by his upbringing. It's not his fault that his humanitarian act leaves him breathless and feeling so much. Scarlet has been through too much and what seems like just another bout of bad luck might turn out to be the best thing that ever happens to her. Totally loved having an insight to Mitch and Scarlet. Mitch is caring, a gentleman, sweet and passionate. Scarlet is strong, a great mother trying to get a fresh start. Both are a perfect match and a great addition to this series. Again we are featured with the characters from DownShift and the buildup and transition towards BangShift is perfect, will make you want to grab it immediately.

Scarlett has left her ex after he has beaten her one to many times. Her car is about ready to break down when she stops of at a body shop to get help.
The minute Mitch sees her he becomes her pet project. He is pretty much instantly in love. Gives her a car and take up watching her son while she goes off to work.
It's not long before they are seeing each other.
Not much really happens. Scarlett tries pushing him away thinking it to soon for them and that she needs to figure out her life on her own but that last about a week.
I kept waiting for the ex to come back since she ran from him or even AZ to do something stupid but not much happened.

Levi Steals the Show

I really enjoyed this book about Mitch and Scarlett. Her son Levi steals the show though. He's 4 going on 14 and will steal your heart. Lots of wise words from that kid!
Mitch and Scarlett have an instant connection even though she's not sure about the timing. Mitch is one of the best BBFs I've read in a while and his connection with Levi is also swoon worthy.
I'm looking forward to reading the third book in this series about Kurt and Leelee especially after reading the very end of this book!

Yeah...this story sucked me right in. The first chapter had me realizing this book was getting read in one sitting. I absolutely loved these characters and the fact the fmc was a single mom made me love it more. The MMC loved the little boy just as much as his mom which was swoon worthy I tell ya! This world and these brothers are a breath of fresh air and I'm absolutely thrilled to get my hands on book 3 and figure out what is up with Kurt and Leelee. Their issues have had me curious through these first two books! I'm really liking this authors style.

Scarlett, Levi, and Mitch
2nd book in Skid Row Kings series and my favorite.
Scarlett and Levi leave an abusive home and find themselves at SRK where they meet Mitch. Life just got better.
You don't have to read Downshift first, but you should. Chracters show up in each book. Nice to know back story.

Another great book in the Skid Row Kings series! Mitch and Scarlett have sweet and steamy romance. Scarlett is a single mother with a past trying to get her life back. She meets Mitch when she needs her car fixed and get more than she bargained for! Mitch and Scarlett have great chemistry and are hilarious. Again I am not normally a car romance person but I loved this book and series!

Power Shift(Skid Row Kings Series Book 2)

The editing in this book was better. I did like all the characters in the first book. But the only reason I read this book was because the author didn't end t he first book. I am glad that I read this book. The editing was the only reason I didn't want to read this book.

Mitch, Scar and Levi

I loved Mitch and Scarlett's story. I loved Levi even more, he's a cute little firecracker and you never know what he's going to say next. The end holy crap I never say that coming. Now that the secret has been revealed I can't wait to read Kurt and Leelee's story.
