So many adventures await, from the sane and sensible to the more daring. Short and simple entries introduce the possibilities, some of which you won't even need to leave home to accomplish. Enlightening and inspirational, the wide variety of experiences makes this a fun book to browse over and over again. I add to my list each time. Now if only there was enough time and money to achieve all of those on my list...

This book is divided by latitudes of the hemisphere. Nice short interesting paragraphs on geographical locations. A wide variety of ideas from a nostalgic walk across Abbey Road to a breathtaking zip line across an Alpine valley. It is suggestive rather than prescriptive. Plenty of different ideas at different budget and difficulty levels, sure to inspire a wide readership. You could incorporate these ideas into a short business trip, or a vacation of a week or more. There are adventures galore!

On the surface, this book looks great. I was really excited to get it, but most listings not only have little content, there are many errors. There is no way that "travel experts" wrote all of these, if any, or have actually experienced the adventures or destinations. For example, Rocky Mountain National Park is not in Canada, it's in Colorado. Carretera Road is not in Majorca, Spain, it's in South America (Chilean Patogonia). Most people probably wouldn't realize this, but I am actually a travel writer who has visited many countries around the world and have actually experienced many of the places written about. Was hoping for some fun new ideas but I feel like I was ripped off. So disappointing.

A nice bathroom read. Most entries are short and a fair number are nearly impossible to do. But made for an enjoyable read. Took me just over a year to read it.

Exceptional book about grand adventures---big and small. Incredibly thorough with breathtaking photos and imaginative ideas. This book is very different than the books regarding 1,000 places you should see before you die.

This book inspires you to do the things you want to do but life gets in the way.

Each of us have a bucket list and that is the one that matters. Carving out time to do what you dream of creates each person's bucket list journey.

Wow. This was mind candy. I'm going to browse it again with a notebook and pencil to add to my lifelist which I haven't really updated since 1994. I may have to buy this book.

After reading one of the other books that was made by the same grouping and in a similar fashion you would think I would learn my lesson about the content. Unfortunately I didn't and what makes it even worse is the fact that it couldn't even keep the same rating as the first but went down. If it was in my nature this book would have been a DNF.

The book's main focal is suppose to be about giving the reader with 1000 adventures, which they do. But unfortunately that is the only thing they do and even then they mess it up so completely. First of all in the Introduction they mention that not every adventure has to be a travel adventure and yet the book is focused 98.5% on traveling. As a result there is very little to add to your bucketlist adventure-wise that isn't related to travel.

And although there is a color key to explain the types of adventures it really doesn't work since only the number at the front of the entry is colored. As a result the colored part is barely seen to the reader and unless you remember or keep flipping back to the key it is a waste. What I would have done for the book is to have made a general entry such as learning to juggle, learning to play a certain instrument, etc. and then including a suggested location at the end of the basics if there was a certain region that was important to that activity.

Otherwise the writing was stilted and dry so much that the reading from cover-to-cover itself was quite boring. At the same time there seemed to a permanent error where peek was misspelled as peak throughout the book while the knowledge of the editing team needs a refresher course. First of all if you are going to mention mountain gorillas and Sigourney Weaver then why not mention the actual woman Dian Fossey that she was based upon. We don't need a suggestion of Attenborough combined with a film.

Another thing is how is it the most well-known prison in history is the unnamed prison where Nelson Mandela was held? If it was so famous then include the name in the entry. Instead I would think, especially from so many authors who seemed to be UK-based in their About Author paragraphs, that they would have suggested the Tower of London or the Bastille. Both are so much older than that single prison, more well-known to so many and hold a much longer hold on the past. Even Alcatraz may hold a much better grasp on that accolade for a well-known prison in history.

The book also has a lot of colored pictures and a good chunk are whole page pictures in which there is no writing. Within these pictures there is no subject of a traveler shown or if there is occasionally the face is covered. The captions at the bottom of them are basically just ripped off the suggested adventure idea with no extra details given to the reader.

All in all if you can afford to travel or throw away money than this may be a better guidebook for you to skim to get some general suggestions, a bit more information like the best times to do some things in foreign locations or even occasionally the timeframe it may take to travel a certain route. Just be sure, though, not all travel suggestions provide a timeframe on how long some of these adventures may take.

This book is organized by area of latitude/longitude, but would have been easier to read if it was organized by country.

There's short descriptions of all sorts of things that can be on your bucket list from running with the bulls to seeing the penguins in Patagonia. It's also a bit confusing because there are things like Go on A Tinder Date (is this really a bucket list item?) that are listed in specific locations (Tinder is listed under California) that can actually be done anywhere. There are also some specific businesses listed as well which makes it seem like it could be out of date rather quickly.

It's a book you can browse for ideas, but there's not a lot of substance.

Hi. You and I want things to do. Many of us do! Good. So, do you know God made you and loves you? THANKFULLY, I'm among those who gratefully do, and Enough to......say that I sadly discovered that this book contains nudity! I'm returning this book at once!! But at the core, why? I'll say: God created us all "in his image and likeness." Hence, after knowing his love for us, we are then able to....awaken from what we thought was good! God has us wear clothing to hide the shame of being naked, whereas the first two humans sinned and did wrong against God (Genesis chapter 3) explaining why clothing is moral. God shows me in his infinite love that he is holy, worthy of being honored in every way! Amazing, as I experience, To God's glory and respect. I also witnessed statues in the book that are religiously of something, not of God. This shows such a person that those likenesses are evil. But, if I ignore God's love and choose what I (feel) is right, then I am misjudging, being foolish and not honoring the One God who is infinite love, wisdom and knowledge...and understanding. When something is wrong, it's wrong in every way. There's lots of sexual illusions around us so I'm here to do you a favor. I seek a book of ideas of things to try that knowingly honor whatever is "true" and "noble" instead of impulsive and of human origin. What do you think of this review? Thanks!

This book was beautiful and such an amazing read. Traveling in general is something I’m passionate about, so having a whole book dedicated to all the adventures you can take around the world was perfect for me.

There are so many different adventures I want to take right now, but I’m most drawn to those in Europe and in Thailand and the Philippines. I love the history and culture of Europe, and am so excited to go there. I plan on studying abroad, so that will help to cross some of these amazing trips off my bucket list. I also love the idea of tropical travel through Thailand and the Philippines. The beautiful clear waters and cheap accommodations are calling my name!

I recommend this book to anyone who loves traveling and looking at beautiful photography!

I actually read this book cover to cover. And by the end I felt like it was awfully repetitive, and way too focused on animals that you can see all over the world. And too focused on extreme sports.

BUT, this is an excellent 1000 item list of possible places to go. If you actually did this list, you would see a TON of amazing things. And the book is properly named as it is "adventurous", with a focus on hard to reach places and very difficult bucket list items to actually do. Many or physically impossible for an older person. But as one such older person, I just read all those extreme sports items as places I could go anyway.

But enough with the animals already. We all know you can see different animals in different places, and for whatever reason this book is fixated on that.

My score out of 1000 in The Bucket List barely broke the fifty mark, but it was good fun taking a journey through this gloriously presented book. The Bucket List is subtitled 1000 Adventures Big and Small, which is a precise description.
The format works pretty well too, with sections devoted to geographic areas north and south of the equator. The experiences range from modest sight seeing adventures to rather risky endeavours like bungee jumping, searching for polar bears, climbing volcanoes, big game fishing and for the truly well heeled and ambitious, visiting every country in the world.
The Bucket List is a lavishly laid out hardback which could well be the impetus for your next travel adventure, and why not tick off a few more on your own bucket list.

We’re working on an Around The World plan for this year and this was extremely helpful. It took a little getting used to the way it was organized. It’s laid out by latitude, working from N to S. I had to adjust my thinking because we are circling the globe on our trip but ultimately that is it’s greatest unique feature. I designed my own system of “thrill list” (because I don’t like using bucket...) and highly recommend checking it out. The biggest take away is understanding it’s a big, big world with tons of amazing things to see! Very inspiring. I loved the concise, yet helpful descriptions.

Waste of paper! Seems like text downloaded from internet blogs, other books and illustrations bought online too. This book represents nothing worth buying or spending valuable time on. Chaotic, poor editing, shallow. Who is this written for? Naive tourists that know nothing of surrounding world? Probably.
If you love travelling, visiting new countries and places you can find plenty of great literature unless you want to feel like a fool then buy this book. I'm just confident after maybe 30 min you will loose your interest, put it down and forget until the next time when you decide "it's ebay time".

Absolutely incredibly fascinating and absorbing book! Pictures galore. Fantasy escapes as well as easy-do discoveries. From over-the-top trips and treks to more picturesque strolling adventures. This book has it all and then some. I spent a week just looking at the photos, flipping around and dreaming. I think of myself as fairly well-traveled....I'm NOT. Anyone with a smidge of adventure will enjoy this arm chair travelogue. The peripatetics in the world will need BP meds! Enjoy!

The book is very pretty, but is not organized to my liking. The book is separated into hemispheres, and if you want to find the things the author thinks you should do in the United States for instance (in times of covid) you have to use the index as they are all over the book and the descriptions small. There are whimsical things in there such as "write a book". Nice idea for a book, but thought it would be more "helpful". Maybe a 2.5.

I've perused many of the ideas here and glanced over others. I skipped quite a few, too. I think the best use of this book is to see what it recommends for an area once you've already decided to go there, to make sure you don't miss anything that might interest you. I saw several things that might make me want to go to a certain place in here, but also a lot of things l could skip and still be happy.

An inspirational and beautifully photographed catalog of global travel destinations, "The Bucket List" is a traveller's companion. 1000 places in the world to visit, what to do and why to do it - simple, easy to access and extremely handy. Organized by degrees of latitude, the book beckons the casual traveller to amp up their experience by following a less beaten path. Very enjoyable and repeatable reading.

I love adding travel experiences to my list but books like this often list the exact same “bucket list” items but that is not the case with this book. It had so many fresh and unique ideas leaving me hopeful that there are still plenty of unspoiled places on the world to explore. Unfortunately, it also left me itching to travel more. Also the pictures are beautiful and plentiful.

It's a great list and all but I think I wanted some more photos and descriptions but I guess with 1000 adventures that would make the book HUGE.

It's a good gift book and that's why I bought it. You'll definitely need to do research on each of the adventures because there's not a lot of descriptions. Still a cool book.

This book is a nice way to learn about unique things and countries you can explore in the world. It's great for an overall start on your travel planning and to see what might interest you. I definitely put my post-its to good use. ;)

For more in depth though you still need to dig out your own research skills. :)

So this was more of a scanning book of new places to go to. I would have liked more pictures so you could "see" the adventures. But got some good ideas of places to see in places I wanted to already go to.

I love the suggestions in this book for the most part, however, some of the suggestions left me wondering "who does that?" Hence, the four stars. Read it...you may like the things I didn't.
